Operational information from the regions of the Active Community network 05.05.2022

Ukraine in brief:

The 71st day of the heroic opposition of the Ukrainian people to the russian military invasion continues.

The enemy does not stop conducting offensive operations in the Eastern Operational Zone to establish full control over the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts and maintain the land corridor between these territories and the occupied Crimea. At the same time, it provokes tensions in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova and the territory of belarus. The enemy carries out regrouping, takes measures to replenish ammunition and fuel, and tries to improve its troops’ tactical position.

In the temporarily occupied territories, the invaders continued to plunder the products of agricultural companies. The russian side continues to accuse the Government of Ukraine of creating a humanitarian catastrophe in the territory controlled by the occupiers. Also, the invaders imitate humanitarian activities with the demonstrative distribution of food packages and medicines to residents.

Russian occupation troops continue to launch missile attacks on transport infrastructure facilities to prevent the movement of relief supplies and items of military-technical assistance.

In the north of Ukraine, the enemy did not take any active actions.

Russian orcs tried to restore the lost positions in the area of Kharkiv. They made an unsuccessful offensive attempt in the area of the settlement of Staryi Saltiv.

Due to the constant sanitary losses of personnel, the enemy is building up the system of medical support for the troops, using a network of civilian medical institutions in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kharkiv Oblast. The enemy uses artillery to shell nearby settlements to Izium, but no avail.

In the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, the enemy tried to capture Popasna, take complete control of the city of Rubizhne, and provide favorable conditions for the continuation of the offensive in the direction of Lyman and Severodonetsk but failed to achieve that goal.

In the Mykolaiv Oblast, the enemy concentrated its efforts on fortifying the positions and replenishing stocks of ammunition, fuel, and logistical resources.

Administrative and police measures are underway in the temporarily occupied territories. The invaders continue to carry out filtration measures against residents, preventing evacuation to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.

Northern oblasts

Kyiv

The consequences of enemy shelling are being removed in Kyiv. So far, utility companies have drawn more than 1500 cubic meters of construction debris.

Kyiv Oblast

Law enforcement agencies continue to record the crimes of the russian occupation troops. In the enemy trenches near the village of Vyshehrad, the police found the body of a civilian tortured to death by the aggressors. According to preliminary data, the russian invaders tortured the civilian and then killed him.

The Kyiv Oblast is coming back to life. The territories of settlements are being cleared of mines. The local authorities distribute humanitarian aid while businesses start to resume their work. About 120 architects from all over Ukraine came to Irpin to work out a strategy for the restoration and further development of the city.

The night in Chernihiv passed quietly, but the occupiers continued to fire at Horodnyansk and Semenivsk raions. The losses of the textile factories destroyed by the occupiers are estimated at more than $400 million. 25 courts resumed their activities. It is predicted that the fuel shortage in Chernihiv Oblast will disappear in 1-2 weeks.

Eastern oblasts

Kharkiv Oblast

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) pushed the enemy away from Kharkiv in the northern direction. But russia continues to terrorize civilians. The missile strikes are not guided; occupiers strike at residential areas.

The enemy continues to fire from MLRS and artillery. During the day, Pyatykhatky, Zhukovsky village, Saltivka and Pivnichna Saltivka were affected.

A 15-year-old volunteer who was evacuating buffalo bulls died because of the shelling of the Kharkiv Ecopark. Also, two people were injured. In the morning, there were shellings of the Northern Saltivka district. No one was injured.

The town of Izyum remains the hottest spot in Kharkiv Oblast. There, the enemy is constantly trying to attack the AFU positions, in particular near the town of Barvinkove. A Ukrainian journalist and veteran, Oleksandr Makhov, died in the battles near Izyum.

In addition, yesterday, the enemy tried to attack the AFU positions in the Vovchansk direction but was defeated.

Donetsk Oblast

In Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts, the Ukrainian military resisted eleven enemy attacks and destroyed five tanks, seven units of armored combat vehicles, and five units of enemy vehicles. Air defense units shot down two enemy SU-30 aircrafts and two Orlan-10 and ZALA-421 uncrewed aerial vehicles.

Kramatorsk

At night, there was an air missile strike on the city. The missiles targeted two places, one of them the city’s residential area. Twenty-five residents were injured in the shelling. No one died only because a significant part of the residents had evacuated.

Two houses were severely damaged, ten homes suffered partial damage, including broken windows and damaged roofs. The central part of Kramatorsk was also shelled. Office buildings, a school, and some residential buildings were destroyed.

The Mayor and the Head of the Oblast Military Administration visited the site of the tragedy and coordinated the work of public utilities to eliminate the consequences of the shelling.

Residents are frightened by the night shelling. It became clear to people that there are no safe places anymore. The evacuation of the population intensified. Many are planning to leave the city, although some are trying to return to cure the aftermath of the shelling of their homes personally.

The AFU are preparing to resist the enemy.

Mariupol

The occupiers are constantly shelling and storming the “Azovstal” plant. There are “Azov” unit soldiers and civilians.

The Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol told about horrific crimes the russians committed in filtration camps in the villages of Bezimiane and Kozatske. They keep there all civilian men from several Mariupol districts. There are about 2000 people forced to sleep on the floor in the corridors for the fourth week. They receive no medical care. In one of these camps, the first case of tuberculosis was recorded. As a result, the school gym has been turned into an isolation ward where many people are locked together without medical care. Thousands of people can use only one sink with cold tap water. It only intensifies the spread of illness among the detainees. People do not receive their documents back, and they get a paper about filtration completion. But it does not allow them to leave the camp.

At the same time, Mariupol is being turned into a ghetto. Due to the absence of men and many occupiers in some districts, the houses are being looted. Women are afraid of being raped and staying home.

In Mariupol, the occupiers are trying to impose their authority structures. Following the russian pattern, they opened the Department of State Administrative Inspection, which was liquidated in Ukraine in 2015. The occupying “authorities” have also put up a monument of an old lady with the soviet union flag.

In Mariupol, the Russian occupiers began to change direction. They install inscriptions in Russian.

“The occupiers destroyed our city, killed 20,000 people, and now they are changing directions. People with their problems will wait. Meanwhile in Mariupol – the Middle Ages. Residents without water, enough food, medicine. There is no light and normal communication, “the Mariupol City Council said.
