Ukraine in Brief:

The 69th day of the Ukrainian people’s heroic struggle against the russian military invasion goes on.

The enemy keeps striking from the air and shelling Kharkiv. In the Izyum direction, an offensive towards Izuym-Barvinkove continues. The enemy is taking losses. To support their combat action, the invaders have moved a company of 240 mm heavy self-propelled mortars Tyulpan and a unit of Smerch MRLS from the belgorod oblast territory in russia towards the area Izyum.

Russian occupation troops continue their filtration measures on the temporarily occupied areas of the Kherson Oblast. For this, rosgvardia (russian national guard) units are involved.

The enemy focuses its primary efforts in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts on offensive actions in Lyman, Severodonetsk, Popasna, Avdiyivka, and Kurakhino, aiming at taking complete control of Rubizhne, Popasna and developing an offensive in the directions of Lyman, Siversk and Slovyansk.

Russian occupation troops keep sieging Ukrainian military units in the area of Azovstal Mill in Mariupol. It uses artillery and tanks to pound the territory of the steel mill.

The russian army continues shelling Ukrainian troops in the Mykolaiv Oblast. The situation in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova remains tense.

In the north of Ukraine, individual units of the military force of belarus keep with their task of the enhanced patrol of the Ukrainian-belarusian border in the brest and gomel oblasts. An enemy subversion and reconnaissance group have been exposed in Khmelivka, Sumy Oblast.

Northern oblasts

Kyiv

Brussels Mayor Philippe Close has visited the capital of Ukraine, bringing with him important aid: two ambulances and three tons of medicines. The mayor of the Belgian capital has attended four Kyiv hospitals that Brussels is ready to support with medical equipment of critical importance for prosthetic surgeries on war victims.

Kyiv Oblast

Bodies of killed civilians with horrific torture marks have been found in the village of Kalynivka, which suffered the russian occupation. The victims had their hands tied and fingernails separated.

Prosecutor General Iryna Venedyktova informed at a briefing about 290 bodies of peaceful civilians uncovered in Irpin following its liberation from the russian invaders. The tally included 161 males, 73 females, one child, and 53 remains. Only 185 bodies have been positively identified so far. The causes of death included shrapnel and firearm wounds.

Of some 17 435 objects surveyed by the law enforcement in Irpin, 885 are totaled, 2738 are partly destroyed, and 8651 have superficial damage.

Leader of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany and the CDU faction in Bundestag Friedrich Merz has arrived in Irpin. The Irpin Mayor has informed the politician about the scale of destruction and the crimes of the russian invaders in the town. The utility services work around the clock in the Oblast to restore natural gas, water, and power supply to population centers.

Zhytomyr Oblast

Another yet war crime by russian troops has been documented in the village of Nova Buda, Zhytomyr Oblast: the local Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, which was at least 120 years old, had been destroyed in an airstrike.

A procession of friendship between the Ukrainians and the Poles has taken place on the principal pedestrian street in Zhytomyr. More than 50 pupils from city schools marched the street waving Ukrainian and Polish flags. In this way, the city residents greeted Poland on its Constitution Day.

A charity auction in Zhytomyr collected 13 thousand Hryvnias for a shopping bag with the image of the city mayor and his coined phrase ‘That’s how it should be’ on it. The city mayor used the phrase to calm the residents in late March when explosions could be heard in the city.

Chernihiv Oblast

Demining of the Oblast’s territory continues. During the day, groups of pyrotechnics and underwater deminers of the State Emergency Service detected and seized 258 explosive devices. A total of 18 940 such items have been taken since the beginning of hostilities. Pyrotechnics from Denmark will demine the Pryluky Raion.

Today Chernihiv rescuers found the body of a missing man. He died in an office building on the outskirts of Chernihiv two months ago due to a russian bombing.

Chernihiv communities continue to receive food packages with state humanitarian aid. Also, food kits are sent by a partner of Chernihiv Oblast – Rivne Oblast. Every day Rivne Oblast delivers more than 10 thousand food kits.

Sumy Oblast

There was an airstrike alarm. An uncrewed aerial vehicle flying over the border was spotted last night. The Head of the Oblast Administration does not rule out possible provocative actions and shelling by russia.

Today at about noon, russia opened fire from mortars on the territory of the Hlukhiv community. The Sumy Oblast Prosecutor’s Office reported suspicion of intentionally false information was submitted in the declaration of the Shostka City Council deputy from the Opposition Block for Life political party. According to the investigation, the man hid property and funds in a 6.2 million hryvnias.

Kramatorsk

Explosions were heard in the city, but no destruction or casualties were reported. The military is preparing to meet the enemy. The evacuation of the population continues in the city. The situation is alarming.

Pokrovsk and Pokrovsk Raion

Every day, the russians attack the civilian infrastructure of Donetsk Oblast. In particular, the enemy is actively shelling the Ocheretyn community. In the last two days alone, the first-aid post in the village of Krasnohorivka, a coffee shop, and three residential buildings in Ocheretyno have been destroyed. Four villages have been cut off as a result of the shelling.

The Avdiivka community is also under attack: today, in Avdiivka itself, a residential building was destroyed, and the electricity supply was cut off. Russian occupation troops use artillery, aircraft, phosphorus munitions, and shells in cities and small villages.

The Ukrainian military is repelling the enemy. Territorial Defense Forces are on duty in the community. The last day in the Pokrovsk community was relatively calm.

Due to the disrupted logistics caused by the war, the community’s residents faced a shortage of many goods, including vital ones. Natalia Pavlenko, the head of the Novoelizavetivsk district of the Pokrovsk community, personally bought medicines in Dnipro and brought them to the residents. According to the cash receipts, the medications were handed over to the residents, who paid for them. A 17-year-old boxer, master of sports from Pokrovsk – Maxym Naumov, won a regional tournament in Hungary.

Bakhmut

The Bakhmut City Center for Culture and Leisure, named after Yevhen Martynov, has organized a registration point for people evacuated from dangerous areas. Every day people can ask for help in solving the problems of organizing a temporary stay, getting a change of clothes, food, and support from a psychologist. https://www.facebook.com/rada.bakhmut/posts/724362748917251

Volnovakha

The city is temporarily occupied. Citizens are trying to leave, some to Ukraine, some through russia. There is no sense in staying in the city, there is no water supply, and there is no work either.

Mariupol

All night, russian occupation troops bombed the Azovstal plant with naval artillery and aircraft. In the afternoon, the russian military stormed the plant in several places. As a result of the russian bombing of Azovstal, two civilian women were killed, and ten civilians were injured. In inhumane conditions, the occupiers keep civilian men from Mariupol in filtration camps.

The occupiers started registering private housing in one of the Mariupol schools. Formally, the occupiers do this to determine the amount of compensation for housing, but in reality, there is an inventory and “legalization” of misappropriation of property by the occupiers.

Luhansk Oblast

The occupiers opened fire on the village of Vrubivka. Two houses were destroyed. 17 000 tons of wheat remained in the elevator in Rubizhne, purposefully destroyed by the occupiers the day before.

In the occupied territories of the Luhansk Oblast, the “people’s militia” confiscates mobile phones and other gadgets. This way leaves people the opportunity to follow the news and communicate with relatives. The relevant order was issued by the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic” occupation authorities. People will be checked for phones, tablets, and other gadgets for the presence of “undesirable” social networks and dialogues with relatives living outside the “republic”. Personal belongings will be confiscated for 30 days, and it is unknown whether they will be returned. People in a hurry began to remove themselves from social networks and “clean” phone numbers. Evacuation from Luhansk Oblast continues. Another 49 locals left for the Dnieper.

A convoy of people evacuated from Azovstal could not reach Zaporizhzhia yesterday. Of the 14 buses that took residents of Mariupol, only three came to the territory of Zaporizhzhia, controlled by Ukraine. The fate of the people from the other 11 buses is unknown.

Empty buses had to be returned to Zaporizhzhia to evacuate people from Berdyansk, Tokmak, and Energodar. The russian occupiers did not allow people to be taken away, arguing that no evacuation lists had been submitted to the “occupation administration.” People stood for two days to leave, waiting for the column.

Mykolaiv Oblast

Closer to dawn, the occupiers fired on Mykolayiv from the Tornado multiple rocket launcher and hit critical infrastructure. No one was injured. In the village of Novofontanka, the bodies of two locals with traces of gunshot wounds and torture were found in a mass grave. One of the men had his legs tied. Traces of the russian military were found near the men’s grave, including fragments of a typical package of russian biscuits.

The enemy continues to conduct air reconnaissance, but Ukrainian soldiers defend their positions. Fighters of the anti-aircraft missile unit destroyed the russian orlan-10 drone in the Mykolaiv area.

Representatives of the Khmilyky Territorial Defense Forces were on duty in the community. The Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in Vinnytsia Oblast has identified two men who promoted “russian peace” on social networks and supported russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. The 46-year-old resident of one of the villages in Khmilnyky Raion distributed letters in which he fully supported the russians’ actions to destroy the Ukrainian military and politicians. There was an air alarm. Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma stressed that the task of every headman today is to carefully monitor whether there are vacant or unused agricultural lands in the settlements and use them.

A problematic issue in the community is the plots that were once leased for growing agricultural products. However, these activities are not carried out in these territories. The state and local governments urged tenants to be honest owners, especially in difficult times of military aggression, and sow the land.

Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, for the second time during the full-scale war, the city council convenes a session to change the names of streets. After the first scandalous decision on the so-called de-russification, the city authorities received a lot of criticism. There were even official appeals from politicians, intellectuals, and public activists to return certain street names. The deputies decided to correct their mistakes partially and, at the same time, rehabilitate themselves for the disappearance of Sakharov and Repin streets in the city. So now, in Ivano-Frankivsk, the new names have been added to the past two: Volonterska, Dmytro Bortnyansky, and Potocki streets.

Currently, active hostilities are not taking place in the Chernivtsi Oblast. Recruitment to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is underway in the Oblast.
