War in Ukraine today: latest news, October 21, 2022 (photo)

 It has been the 240th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6pm: 

The enemy holds the ground on the temporarily occupied territories, focuses its efforts on restraining the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in some directions, and continues to launch offensive towards Bakhmut and Avdiivka. 

The units of the Defense Forces repelled the attacks of the occupiers in the areas of Ternova, Kharkiv oblast; Belohorivka and Zolotarivka, Luhansk oblast; Lyman, Soledar, Ozarianivka, Odradivka and Pervomaiske in Donetsk oblast.

The enemy fires at the Ukrainian positions along the contact line, erects defensive constructions in some directions and conducts aerial reconnaissance. By violating the norms of the International humanitarian law, customs and traditions of war, the enemy is hitting the critical infrastructure and civilian housing.

The enemy launched 4 missile and 20 air strikes, over 30 multi-rocket launcher hits. 

About 8 settlements were hit by the enemy’s aviation and anti-aircraft guided missiles, namely Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Novovoskresenske of Kherson oblast.

The situation did not change significantly towards Volyn. 

Towards Siversk and Polissia, the enemy used mortars and barrel artillery to shell Ukrainske and Hai settlements of Chernihiv oblast, as well as Pokrovka in Sumy oblast.

At the same time, in the Pinsk and Stolinsk regions of the republic of belarus, the belarusian special services are intensifying regime and administrative measures. In particular, it is forbidden to conduct any video recording, including that of car video recorders.

In the military commissariats, work continues on clarifying the personal data of men of conscription age, emphasis being placed on readiness for call-up.

In other directions, the enemy fires towards:

Sloboda from barrel and rocket artillery, in the areas of Berestove, Strelecha, Dvorichna and Chuhunivka settlements;

Bakhmut from tanks and artillery, in the areas of the settlements of Soledar, Bakhmut, Bilogorivka, Klishchiivka and Opytne;

Avdiivka from tanks, mortars, barrel and rocket artillery, in the areas of Vodiane, Prechistivka, Pervomaiske and Velyka Novosilka settlements.

The enemy did not conduct active offensive actions towards Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia. The settlements of Vremivka, Zelenyi Hai and Mala Tokmachka were shelled.

Towards the South Buh, the enemy shelled military and civilian infrastructure. Areas of settlements near the contact line were damaged by fire. Among them are Novovoskresenske, Myrne, Davidiv Brid and Novohrednieve.

According to available information, in the city of Beryslav, Kherson oblast, since October 19, all bodies of the occupation authorities have ceased their activities. It is also known that collaborators continue leaving the city, along with their families and property.

In the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk oblast, the enemy is taking measures to improve television and radio broadcasting.

On October 19, the Ukrainian Defense Forces fired at the pontoon crossing under the Antoniv bridge in Kherson oblast.

Aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 16 strikes. The defeat of three strongholds and ten buildups of weapons and military equipment, as well as three positions of the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile systems, was confirmed.

Units of rocket forces and artillery hit the control post and the enemy’s S-300 anti-aircraft missile system.

Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Chernyshov reports that over 250 heat supply facilities damaged as a result of russia’s armed aggression were restored in Ukraine. In total, 580 boiler houses and heating stations have been damaged since the start of the full-scale war. Three thermal power plants were reconstructed and restoration works are being finalized at four plants. Yet, another 12 TPPs and CHPs need emergency restoration.

The press service of the President of Ukraine reports that Volodymyr Zelenskyy  and the members of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Mike Turner, James Himes and Eric Swalwell discussed the transfer of anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine in the required amount. During the meeting with the congressmen, Zelenskyy emphasized that their visit to Ukraine is especially important today, when russia has intensified its terror against peaceful cities and civilian infrastructure by striking with missiles and Iranian drones. They also talked about increasing sanctions pressure on russia.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine informs that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the resolution Some Issues of Implementation of Legislative Acts in the Field of Migration under Martial Law. The resolution allows foreigners and stateless persons, except for citizens of the russian federation, to enter and legally stay in Ukraine on the basis of a temporary or permanent residence permit that has expired or is subject to exchange after February 24, 2022. This provision will remain in effect during martial law and for 30 days after its termination or cancellation.


Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the invaders shelled a dozen settlements. The Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled attacks near Ternova. Berestove, Chuhunivka, Dvorichna, Kharkiv and Strilecha were under enemy fire.

Referring to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, as of October 21, 25 settlements remain under temporary occupation. Since September, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have liberated 7 settlements in Kupiansk district .

Based on the information provided by the Office of the President, restoration of critical infrastructure in all de-occupied territories continues. 551 settlements were de-occupied.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that around 8 am, the enemy launched a rocket attack on the city. Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head’s Spokeswoman, Olena Shapoval, said that an object of industrial infrastructure in Kyiv district was hit. All emergency services are working at the site. Six people who were injured during the morning shelling of Kharkiv were taken to hospitals. Some of them are in moderate condition.

As a result of a repeated rocket attack on Kyiv region, 3 people were injured. The condition of the injured is moderate and light, there is no threat to life.

Yesterday the invaders shelled the cities of Kupiansk and Vovchansk and settlements of Bohodukhiv, Chuhuiv, Kharkiv and Kupiansk regions.

According to the Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care, a 30-year-old man in the Bohodukhiv region, a 56-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man in the Kupiansk region were hospitalized. Also, a 55-year-old man, who was injured the day before, received medical assistance in Kupiansk.

De-mining of the liberated territories continues. Pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service defused 657 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informed that russians killed 2 civilians in Bakhmut. In addition, law enforcers found the bodies of 9 civilians killed during the occupation: 2 in Lyman and 7 in Novoselivka. Another person was injured yesterday.

Overnight, russian shelled the frontline areas from Selydove to Lyman communities.

Towards Donetsk, Avdiivka, Marinka and Selydove communities were under fire. No casualties, but there is destruction.

In the Selydove community, Ukrainske was hit, damaging the area of apartment buildings. In the Marinka community, Katerynivka was shelled, power lines were damaged. Avdiivka was attacked with artillery in the morning: the outskirts of Avdiivka Coke Plant and a garden community were damaged.

Bakhmut, Svitlodarsk and Toretsk communities suffered towards Horlivka.

In Bakhmut, 2 people were killed and 1 injured as a result of a strike on the private sector. 7 houses were damaged. In Toretsk, a house and an enterprise were damaged, there were no casualties. There was shelling at Maiorsk station, the Svitlodarsk community.

Towards Lysychansk, russians actively shelled Toretsk and Zarichne in the Lyman community. At least 1 person was killed and 1 more injured.

Stabilisation measures are completed in the liberated Lyman, but de-mining continues.

Luhansk oblast

The Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled another attack the day before. Ukrainian aviation also launched 5 strikes. 3 strongholds and buildups of weapons and military equipment and 2 positions of anti-aircraft missile systems were hit. Air defense units shot down 15 UAVs.

Rocket and artillery forces hit 4 control posts, 7 buildups of manpower, weapons and military equipment, an ammunition depot, an anti-aircraft warfare, a bridge and a pontoon ferry.

The following settlements were shelled with various types of weapons:

  • in Bakhmut direction – Andriivka, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Bilohorivka, Ivanhrad, Soledar, Spirne, Yakovlivka and Zelenopillia;
  • in Kramatorsk and Lyman direction – Berestove, Bilohorivka, Nove, Pershotravneve, Stelmakhivka, Terny, Torske, Yampolivka and Zarichne.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, reported that the hottest spot in the region remains near Svatove, where the invaders are shelling the entire area. He noted that russian troops are using rocket artillery to shell the surrounding area. Also, in small villages near Kreminna and Svatove, russians evicted all residents and deployed russian troops there, most of the russian equipment is concentrated near Svatove and Troitske. In Rubizhne and Sievierodonetsk, invaders and collaborators are settled in empty houses.

Four employees of the Luhansk Regional State Emergency Service who ran over an anti-tank mine while performing a mission in Kharkiv oblast are undergoing treatment in hospitals. The condition of the injured is stable.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Andriy Nebytov, Head of the Main Office of the National Police in Kyiv oblast, has reported that another body of a killed civilian was found near Mykhaylivka- Rubezhivka, Bucha region, where active hostilities were taking place during the occupation of Kyiv oblast by the russian troops. Currently, experts are working to identify the deceased. As of October 20, regional police have found and examined 1,365 bodies of civilians killed during the occupation.

1,275 applications have been submitted for the state program eRobota to receive microgrants for establishment or development of own business in Kyiv oblast. According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, 1,275 applications were submitted, and 135 were approved for funding their business projects.

Educational institutions of Kyiv oblast will continue to work remotely from 24th to 28th of October. This applies to all educational institutions of any form of ownership. This decision was made during a meeting of the operational headquarters of the Defense Council of Kyiv oblast, and is due to the increased threat of missile attacks from the russian federation.

Ukravtodor reported that road builders have built another crossing over the Irpin river near Hostomel to replace the bridge destroyed during the hostilities in spring. Consequently, transport connection from Hostomel, Bucha, and Borodianka to Kyiv has been resumed.

A mobile administrative service center purchased with the financial support of the Government of Canada has been launched in the Byshiv community. The vehicle is equipped with an autonomous power supply system and will be able to function independently from stationary sources.

Zhytomyr oblast

New heating season starts in Zhytomyr while electric transport has stopped operating and street lighting is not turned on in the evenings. According to Mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn, heating will only be supplied to citizens’ homes at night due to strict power saving measures.

The Regional Child Care Service has reported that more than 2,000 winter clothing sets for IDP children, who now live in Zhytomyr oblast, were received from the international charitable children’s fund UNICEF.

Marksmanship training for civilians was held in Zhytomyr. During the training, attendees were taught basic marksmanship and weapon handling principles. According to the organizers of the Civilian Preparedness Center initiative, about 100 people have already undergone such training in the city and the majority of participants are women.

Libraries of the Novohrad-Volynskyi community are finishing the work on excluding literature in the russian language. Due to the full-scale invasion of russia, russian-language literature was turned into waste paper in Ukrainian libraries. At the same time, the library fund is being replenished with literature in Ukrainian.

Sumy oblast

According to Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the morning in Sumy oblast began with shelling of the border areas. After 5 am, the enemy fired 6 mortar rounds at the Znob-Novhorodske community in the Shostka region. There were no casualties or damage.

The day before, the Seredyna-Buda community was under enemy fire. The enemy launched 20 attacks from an automatic grenade launcher, as well as opened fire from small arms. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

According to the SES of Ukraine,in Sumy oblast, EOD teams cleared 25 explosive items including artillery shells, a hand grenade, a signal mine, and reactive lighting cartridges. The deadly findings were discovered in Okhtyrka and Konotop regions.

Approximately 126K residents of Sumy oblast will receive assistance for the heating season from the UN. This was announced by Edward Tevil, Head of the Kyiv Field Office of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs during his visit to Sumy oblast. He noted that the priority will be given to internally displaced persons and residents whose houses were destroyed.

9,827 grocery packages were delivered to the residents of the Shostka community from the Ukrainian Government. The residents of the Shostka region received a total of 30K packages with long-term storage products, such as oil, flour, cereals, canned food, etc.

Chernihiv oblast

In the morning, from 05:10 to 05:20, the enemy was firing at the border village of Hai. According to the “North” Operational Command, there were 10 shells, probably fired from barrel artillery. From 05:15 to 05:40, there were 6 shells presumably fired from 120 mm mortar near Ukrainske village. There was no information about casualties or damage.

The MU Chernihivvodokanal reported that there was an accident at the water supply system in Liskovytsya neighbourhood. The local residents have been without drinking water for several days. Due to technical reasons, emergency repair works will begin only on October 24. As of today, drinking water is being delivered to residents by trucks.

Students and teachers of the Chernihiv Regional Scientific Lyceum made trench candles for the servicemen of the “North” Operational Command who are guarding the borders of Chernihiv oblast. Also, warm clothes, medicines, treats and other things were prepared for the soldiers. The soldiers were invited to the school where they received the gifts in person.

Chernihiv oblast is now one of those regions where temporary power consumption restrictions have been imposed. This decision was made by Ukrenergo due to a sharp increase in electricity consumption. This will reduce the load on the grids and provide power engineers with the opportunity to repair equipment damaged by enemy attacks.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk, for the first time in 3.5 months, there was a night without air alarm sirens in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. 

Pyrotechnicians neutralized almost ten Russian projectiles. Ammunition was destroyed both on the territory of Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson oblast.

In Dnipro, they made a flag from 5 thousand blue and yellow rolls. Anyone could buy them, and the organizers plan to use the proceeds to buy a quadcopter for the military, as well as food for the residents of Nikopol.

Vinnytsia oblast

The Vinnytsia City Council reported that the UN Agency for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) started to operate  in the Transparent Offices. In order to provide financial assistance, the Agency determines the category of persons among IDPs who suffered as a result of military operations and temporarily live in the territory of the Vinnytsia community. They are provided with assistance to meet priority needs, including temporary housing, food, and personal hygiene items. 

Serhii Soldatenko from Vinnytsia makes stoves for Ukrainian defenders according to his own design; he has already done four stoves in a workshop in his garage. A structure that enables drying clothes and cooking is welded to each stove.

Kirovohrad oblast

The city council reports that residents of the Haivoron community in Kirovohrad oblast have joined the collection of funds to help the defenders. For instance, the employees of the Berestiahiv branch house of culture prepared delicious pastries. UAH 9,300  were raised this way.

Oleksandriia received a batch of aid from the UNICEF charity fund, which was delivered from the humanitarian hub of the Kirovohrad RMA. These are about 700 sets of winter clothes for children aged 2 to 9. Each package includes a jacket, a pair of shoes, a sweater, a pair of warm cotton pants and sweatpants, thermal underwear, socks, a hat, and a scarf.

Poltava oblast

 According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration,  20 communities of Poltava Oblast received School in a Box sets. These are stationery sets, handouts and supplies for teachers. In addition, there are hygienic and antiseptic products. The humanitarian aid came from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

 According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, a  charity auction Victory Starts with You was held in Poltava.  Ancient icons, books, paintings, antiques, trophies from Zmiiny island, military coins and stamps signed by Valerii Zaluzhny and Kyrylo Budanov were presented. Among the participants are philanthropists, business representatives, deputies of Kyiv and Poltava city councils and the regional council.  

Cherkasy oblast

According to Head of the Cherkasy State Administration Ihor Taburets, 12 cars were sent to the front line from Cherkasy oblast.

Off-road vehicles, pickups, buses, ambulances were serviced and filled with gifts. They were also assembled with the equipment necessary in case of fighting.

150 beds with sleeping sets for internally displaced persons were delivered to Cherkasy as part of the European grant project. Assistance includes beds, mattresses, blankets, bed linen, towels.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On the morning of October 21, the enemy shelled the regional center with S-300 missiles. Six explosions were heard in different areas of the city. A residential building and infrastructure facilities were destroyed. As a result of the shelling, four patrol police officers and one civilian were injured.

Over the past day, police officers registered 21 reports of destruction. The troops of the russian federation launched three missile strikes on the territory of the Komyshuva school of social rehabilitation. Another rocket hit a two-storey apartment building. In addition, the aggressor used anti-aircraft missiles and artillery against civilians in the villages of Shcherbaky, Stepove, Mali Shcherbaky, Novodanylivka, Olhivske, Bilohiria, Novoandriivka, Chervone, Dorozhnianka, Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Poltavka, and Zaliznychne. Some houses burned to the ground. Commercial buildings and vehicles were also damaged.

According to the information from the General Staff, more than 30 wounded servicemen arrived at the Melitopol hospital after fire damage caused by the Defense Forces of Ukraine. According to Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov, all local hospitals in the occupied territories of Zaporizhia oblast are crowded with wounded russian soldiers. Only the hospital in Melitopol remains accessible to civilians, but there are not enough places for patients from all the occupied territories.

Zaporizhzhia libraries collect books printed in russian, which should be sent for recycling. The funds received from this campaign will be used to buy new editions in the Ukrainian language to replenish the city library fund. The promotion is open-ended.

On October 21, rescuers together with volunteers evacuated 54 pensioners and people with disabilities who lived in one of the geriatric boarding houses of the regional center. Currently, the evacuees are on their way to a safer place, where they will be provided with medical and psychological assistance.

Mykolaiv oblast

On October 21, troops of the anti-aircraft missile unit of the Odesa Brigade shot down a russian Su-25 military aircraft in the Bashtanka region. This was reported by the ‘South’ Air Command.

In the morning and at night, the enemy hit the coast of the Kutsurub community with MLRSs. There were no damages or injuries. The communities of Mishkovo-Pohorilivske and Shyroke also came under fire. An infrastructure facility and a private residential building were damaged.

The Security Service of Ukraine neutralized the russian agency, which was headed by an official from Mykolaiv. The traitor turned out to be the head of the communal enterprise Mykolaiv Ritual Service. The suspect ‘handed over’ to the enemy the personal data of the Armed Forces of Ukraine servicemen, the Security Service of Ukraine, employees of the National Police and the regional prosecutor’s office. He also handed over lists of killed Ukrainian defenders to the russian army, collected intelligence on the location and routes of units movement. The official tried to involve four more people with pro-kremlin views in intelligence activities.

On October 20, the rescuers of Mykolaiv oblast eliminated 48 pieces of ammunition. In particular, pyrotechnicians removed 5 aerial bombs — OFAB-500 ShR in the Mykolaiv region. Ammunition was transported to a specially designated place for destruction by controlled detonation.

Odesa oblast

The naval group of enemy forces in the Black Sea consists of 9 ships and boats maneuvering near the coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea and the russian federation. There are 4 large amphibious ships and 2 missile carriers equipped with 16 Kalibres.

Kherson oblast

Back in April, the occupiers mined the Kakhovska HPP and are currently working on mining locks and supports. This is reported by the Ukrainian Intelligence. According to the information, the russian military is preparing a series of terrorist attacks on the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast. In particular, the dam of the Kakhovske Reservoir and units of the Kakhovska Hydroelectric Power Plant are under threat of destruction. At the same time, the detonation of the dam was planned in advance – the main mining work was carried out back in April. During the current week, the locks and supports of the Kakhovska HPP were additionally mined. There are 2 military tented “Kamaz” without drivers installed on the dam. Both cars are fully loaded with boxes of explosives.

88 settlements were de-occupied in the Beryslav region. 11, 827 people live there. This was announced by the deputy head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Tymoshenko. Currently, the life support system is being restored in villages and towns, residents provided with humanitarian aid, and areas demined. Law enforcement officers documented 156 war crimes committed by the russian military in de-occupied villages.

The situation in the South Buh operational zone is tense, but under control. The enemy is conducting defensive operations, trying to hold the occupied lines, at the same time, quite actively transferring equipment, weapons and even units from the right bank of the Dnipro to the left one. The occupying forces try to cover the movement of their equipment by ferry crossings with the civilian population. They continue to agitate the local population for evacuation, in particular, they offer to leave in their own cars, which they use to surround military equipment at crossings.

The enemy sent up to 2K people from among the mobilized to the front line to replenish losses and strengthen units. And russian banking institutions, objects of the humanitarian sphere, medical workers and teachers previously brought to Kherson oblast are hurriedly taken to the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The Defense Forces used aviation 7 times: they hit enemy air defense positions, equipment buildups, ammunition warehouses. An enemy checkpoint was destroyed in the Borozenske region. 2 warehouses with ammunition were blown up.

The police opened 35 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes committed by the russian army in Kherson oblast. Russian troops attacked the communities of the Beryslav region, civilians were killed and some more wounded. Residential buildings were destroyed, fires broke out, cars were damaged.

The russian military continues to loot, robbing farms, where they take agricultural machinery, spare parts for it, and take away the grain harvest. Cars with trailers are stolen from the local population, in which looted property, mostly household appliances, is loaded. In Kherson, the russian military damaged boxes and stole boats on the bay territory.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The Volyngaz company handed over a new batch of stoves to the operational response battalion Lutsk. Eight stoves will help soldiers heat dugouts, cook food, dry clothes and shoes. Burzhuiki were made at the Ukrainian plant RGCProduction.

83-year-old Ivan Kalyuga, a resident of the Novovolynsk community, gave his Tavria car to the military. The volunteers handed over the car to the Ukrainian defenders.

The military unit 1141 of the National Guard of Ukraine reported that in Volyn, the Guards military medics exchanged experience with their Polish colleague, Mykhailo Kurdziel, during the tactical medicine training.

In the Lutsk City Council, state awards were presented to servicemen who gave their lives in the war with russia. Orders For Courage of the III degree, awarded posthumously, were handed over to the mothers of fallen soldiers.

In the village of Dubyshche of the Rozhyshchensk community, memorial plaques were opened to the Heroes who gave their lives for the independence of Ukraine. They were installed on the premises of the Dubyshchen Lyceum in memory of its graduates Vitalii Sydorchuk, Viktor Shershn and Vadym Dudko.

Zakarpattia oblast

People’s deputies work in Zakarpattia as part of the work of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The key goal is work with the RMA on the legitimate and proper use of humanitarian aid in the oblast, as well as on the placement of IDPs. Such commissions work in every region of Ukraine.

The heating season has officially started in Uzhhorod. The corresponding order was signed by Mayor Bohdan Andriiv.

The RMA reported that from Zakarpattia, a DJI Mavic 3 drone was transferred to the front line.

The RMA reported that 44 children of military personnel went to Hungary from Zakarpattia for a three-day vacation. These are the children of local residents and those who were forced to leave their homes because of the war.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In the RMA, a meeting with Head of the regional office of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Anton-Josef Hagen, was held. They discussed the needs of IDPs.

Head of the RMA, Svitlana Onyshchuk, reported that in Ivano-Frankivsk a military training exercise was held.

From Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, humanitarian aid was handed over to the fighters at the front, including sets of thermal underwear, socks, rubber shoes, sterile postoperative plasters, etc.

Lviv oblast

Head of the Lviv RMA, Maksym Kozytsky, took part in the international conference Krynica forum 2022. He singled out the main challenges for Lviv oblast in wartime conditions, and also called on Polish partners to invest in the region’s market.

In the RMA, an online meeting with associative structures of Lviv oblast – employers, trade unions, enterprises, institutions and organizations – was held. They discussed the switch to nighttime work where possible to keep the energy system viable and balanced.

The communities of Lviv oblast were compensated UAH 15.2 million for sheltering IDPs in May. The community received funds from the reserve fund of the state budget.

In the Western Regional Administration of the State Border Service, warrants for official housing were handed over to the border guards who protected Ukraine from the first days of the invasion of the russian federation. A total of 12 border guards, among whom six were seriously wounded in the battles for Azovstal and returned from captivity, received the keys to the apartments.

Scientists of Lviv National Medical University named after Halytskyi have developed hemostatic drugs for the Ukrainian military. The Activator of Blood Coagulation developed in Lviv acts three times faster than foreign analogues.

195 laptops were handed over to the Horodok territorial community. Modern equipment was purchased by Polish partners. The cost of aid is almost UAH 6 million.

The Sokal forestry enterprise Halsillis purchased a Land Rover SUV for Ukrainian defenders. The Chervonohrad District Military Administration and the CF Caritas-Sokal loaded the SUV with food, hygiene products and clothes.

Art therapy classes are organized at the Mother and Child Center Unbreakable Mothers. For the children of this center, classes are conducted by social work specialists of the Lviv City Center of Social Services. Unbreakable Mothers is a center built in Lviv for pregnant displaced women who found shelter from the war.

Cadets of the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs took the oath of a police officer. 362 boys and girls represent 17 regions of Ukraine.

Participants of the well-known comedy show Lviv City Stand Up performed their program in one of the region’s medical institutions. Ukrainian soldiers undergo treatment and rehabilitation in this institution.

Rivne oblast

The RMA reported that Rivne oblast managed to reduce electricity consumption. Restrictions apply to 85 enterprises of the oblast.

In Rivne oblast, volunteers make trench candles for soldiers on the front lines. Almost 200 candles were made by students of the Veliko Omelyan Lyceum in the Rivne District. Over fifty trench candles were made by the cultural workers of the Tumensky Starostyn district in the Sarnen region. Candles are made for the military and students of the Mizot community in the Rivne district.

Ternopil oblast

The Ternopil City Council informed that over UAH 4.4 million have been paid to the people of Ternopil for housing IDPs since the war began.

Mayor of Ternopil, Serhii Nadal, reported that vacation for students of the Ternopil community will begin later, because currently the air temperature allows the educational process to be carried out without heating. In this way, energy carriers will be saved.

The CF Believe in Yourself donated a special vehicle to the Berezhny Psychoneurological Boarding House. This is a specialized bus equipped with the necessary equipment.

The cadets of the Ternopil Vocational College, with enhanced military and physical training, took a solemn oath to the Ukrainian people.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The city council reported that emergency power outages are possible in Khmelnytskyi. The load on the power system is critical.

Chernivtsi oblast

The JSC Chernivtsioblenergo reports that power consumption was reduced at Bukovyna enterprises. Over the last day, this indicator decreased by 26.9% compared to the same period last year.

37 educational institutions will have autumn holidays in Chernivtsi. 8 schools postponed the holidays to January. Such a decision was taken by the pedagogical councils of the institutions.

The Chernivtsi Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital received medical equipment. The aid came from the CF SUPERheroes.

From Chernivtsi oblast, a humanitarian cargo was handed over to the soldiers of the medical company, namely medicines, medical products, sleeping bags, raincoats, thermal clothing, etc.

 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Germany transferred the first TRML-4D radar system to Ukraine. The station can track up to 1 500 different targets at ranges from 0.01 to 250 km.

Minister of Defense, Ben Wallace, announced that Britain is preparing a package of aid to Ukraine for the winter, which will include 25K sets of uniforms. He added that London would continue to provide missiles for air defense systems to Ukraine “in light of the ongoing and indiscriminate attacks on civilian infrastructure.”

The Ministry of Reintegration reported that the UN will help Ukraine with means for demining.

EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Yanez Lenarchych, announced that the EU starts the program for providing emergency shelter in the winter period for Ukraine. Over 2,5K temporary accommodation points will be deployed across Ukraine. Each unit can accommodate up to five people and is fully equipped with beds and heaters.

The US inspected the wreckage of Iranian kamikaze drones, which the russian federation has been using to attack Ukraine in recent weeks. This can help the US and Ukraine understand how to better combat enemy drones.

The EU imposed sanctions against the manufacturer of Shahed-136 drones and three Iranian military personnel (one of them is responsible for cooperation with russia, the second one – for training drone operators, and the third one is in direct negotiations with the russian federation regarding supplies).

Poland and the Baltic countries developed a new package of sanctions against russia. The offer includes a ban on nuclear cooperation, a ban on the export of all drones (including civilian ones) to russia, etc.

The EU and 10 ASEAN member countries are preparing a statement for the summit in Brussels on December 14 condemning russia for its conflict with Ukraine and China for its actions against Taiwan.

Croatia wants to join the International Court of Justice of the UN in the case of Ukraine against russia regarding genocide. So far, applications for admission to the case have also been filed by Latvia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Great Britain, Germany, USA, Sweden, Romania, France, Italy, Poland, Denmark, Ireland, Finland, Estonia, Spain, Australia, Portugal, Austria, Luxembourg and Greece.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine and Switzerland signed a Memorandum on partnership in the field of digital transformation.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with representatives of one of the largest investment companies in the world – Goldman Sachs. They discussed the possibilities of attracting investments to Ukraine.

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine, Olha Stefanishyna, held a meeting with the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Yanez Lenarchych. They discussed priority humanitarian needs of Ukraine.

Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgar Rinkevich, stated that Latvia will not give shelter to those fleeing mobilization, and will check russians for political views when extending residence permits.

International human rights organization Amnesty International stated that russia’s attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure “are tantamount to war crimes.”

Ukrainians founded almost 10K enterprises in Poland since February 24. 41% of these enterprises were founded by Ukrainian women.

The Philippines finally refused to buy russian helicopters. The contract worth 227 million dollars for the purchase of russian helicopters was signed in November 2021.

The Ukrainian feature film Glare about horrors of russian captivity will be shown during the Ukrainian Film Festival to be held in Berlin. The Festival presents feature films and documentaries by made Ukrainian directors, most of which are devoted to russian military aggression in Ukraine.

At the Parcel and Postal Technology International Awards – 2022, Ukrposhta was recognized as the service provider of the year. Since the war began, Ukrposhta has processed 23.5 million remittances and pensions, delivered over 2 million kg of humanitarian aid and 2.7 million kg of export goods to over 30K entrepreneurs.
