War in Ukraine today: latest news, October 15, 2022 (photo)

It has been the 234th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 18.00: 

The aggressor is focusing efforts on reaching the administrative borders of Donetsk oblast, as well as standing ground in temporarily occupied territories of Kharkiv, Luhanks, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. 

The enemy fires at positions of Ukrainian defenders along the entire contact line, erects defensive constructions and conducts aerial reconnaissance. By violating the norms of the International humanitarian law, rules and traditions of war, the enemy hits the critical infrastructure and residential buildings. 

The enemy launched 4 missiles and 17 air strikes, 10 attacks with multi rocket launchers. 

The strikes affected facilities and civilians of over 20 settlements, notably Kostiantynivka, Bilohiria, Ivanivka, Nikopol, Bakhmut, Soledar, Yakovlivka, Davydiv Brid and Nalyvaikivka. 

The facilities in Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv oblasts and other regions were attacked. The enemy used cruise missiles, air and anti aircraft missiles. In addition, the enemy employs Iranian “Shahed-136” UAVs.

The situation did not drastically change towards Volyn and Polissia. The territory of Ukraine is exposed to the threat of missile and air strikes, as well as launch of attack UAVs from the territory of belarus. 

In other directions, the enemy fired towards: 

Siversk with mortars, barreled and rocket artillery in the area of Senkivka, Prohres, Chernihiv oblast and Pavlivka, Dmytrivka, Mezenivka, Bachivsk, Sosnivka, Sumy oblast. 

Sloboda with tanks, mortars, barreled and rocket artillery in the area of Vovchanski Khutory, Hatysche, Lyptsi, Ohirtseve, Starytsia, Udy. The enemy used UAVs to adjust the fire; 

Kramatorsk with tanks, mortars, barreled and rocket artillery in the area of Verkhniokamianske, Vyshneve, Zarichne, Nadiia, Pershotravneve, Terny and Torske;

Bakhmut and Avdiivka with tanks and artillery of different types along the entire contact line. 

The enemy doesn’t launch the offensive towards Novopavlivske and Zaporizhzhia. Over 20 settlements were attacked with tanks, mortars and barreled artillery, notably Bilohiriia, Vuhledar, Vremivka, Zalichnychne, Mykilske, Novoukrainka, Neskuchne, Orikhiv, Charivne and Olhivske. 

Over 35 settlements were attacked along the entire contact line towards the South Buh. The enemy launched UAVs 60 times to conduct aerial reconnaissance.

The russian armed forces are looking for ways to reinforce the military units sustaining losses in the battles on the territory of Ukraine. Based on the available information, the commanders of russian naval forces are proactively offering soldiers to sign the contract with the army.  

The soldiers are lured by high salaries, enhanced social benefits and guarantee to serve outside the front line.

The russian army faced challenges of supplying and supporting mobilized soldiers. Some newly mobilized soldiers were reported to arrive in Polohy, Zaporizhzhia oblast, partially in civilian clothing. 

The armed forces of Ukraine repelled the attacks in the area of settlements of Novosadove, Kramatorsk oblast, Yakovlivka, Berestove, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske and Opytne, Krasnohorivka, Nevelske, Pervomaiske, Mariinka, Pobieda.

23 areas of buildup of weapons and military equipment, 7 locations of anti missile and anti aircraft systems of the enemy were reportedly attacked. The air defense forces of Ukraine shot down 6 UAVs and one helicopter of the enemy. 

Missile troops and artillery struck 5 command points, 7 locations of buildup of manpower, weapons and military equipment. Moreover, the positions of russian artillery and other key military targets were hit.  

The Security Service of Ukraine reports that in liberated Kherson oblast, military uniforms for kids were found. One headquarters of occupiers was detected in the village of Novooleksandrivka. The occupiers wanted to urge people wear these uniforms to the pseudoreferendum. When they noticed that locals avoided participating in the referendum, they started threatening and manipulating them. 

In his Telegram channel, the mayor of Enerhodar Dmytro Orlov warned locals not to send their children on “vacation” to Krasnodar region. “Any time the front line to Kherson, and then to Zaporizhzhia oblast will be cut off which will eventually happen. Intense battles will simply block all the way back”, he noted.  

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at least five settlements were hit by russian troops. Among them are Dvorichna, Hathyshche, Kharkiv, Starytsia and Vovchanski Khutory. The invaders are concentrating their efforts on holding the occupied districts. They continued shelling towards Sloboda from tanks, mortars and with artillery. The enemy also used UAVs to correct artillery fire. Lyptsi, Ohirtseve and Udy were also targeted.

Kharkiv Mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said that heating was supplied to medical facilities. The heating in residential buildings will be provided under relevant weather conditions. Terekhov did not specify which ones. The order is not yet available on the City Hall website.

Law enforcers found the bodies of two tortured men in liberated Kozacha Lopan. They were probably captured by russian troops during the occupation.

Scientists reached the S.Y. Braude Radio Astronomy Observatory near Chuhuiv. They reported that its premises were damaged. The invaders took out and destroyed radio astronomical and computer equipment.

People in Kharkiv began registering for financial aid from the UN. Those who sign up for the aid will receive money for six months.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that the enemy shelled Kharkiv and settlements in Chuhuiv, Izium, Kharkiv and Kupiansk districts.

As a result of shelling, a private house in Vovchansk, an inactive shop building, non-residential and outbuildings were damaged in Izium, and fires broke out.

According to the Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Care, a 66-year-old civilian was killed due to enemy shelling in the border community of Kharkiv district, and a 74-year-old man was hospitalised with injuries in Kupiansk district.

Pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service continue clearing the territory of the region. 558 explosive ordnance were defused.

A 65-year-old man was seriously injured when he drove his car over an enemy mine in Chuhuiv district.

Donetsk oblast

Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informed that the russians killed 2 civilians in Bakhmut. In addition, 6 more civilians killed by the invaders during the occupation were found in Lyman. Another 6 people were injured yesterday.

Kostiantynivka suffered the most from russian shelling this morning. In the city, the outbuildings of an enterprise and the former building of a preventorium were damaged. Cluster shelling hit Oleksandro-Shultyne, damaging a house. No casualties were reported.

Fedorivka, Soledar community, also was under fire, injuring two people.

In Bakhmut, the building of the railway college, one of the city’s oldest architectural landmarks, which is more than 120 years old, caught on fire due to the shelling the previous night.

The Eastern Group of Forces Councillor, Serhii Cherevatyi, reported that there is no street fighting in Bakhmut, the Armed Forces are holding their defence.

The Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories informed that people who were in the temporarily occupied territories at the time of their liberation can receive one-time financial assistance. The first payments have already been paid to residents in Lyman and Sviatohirsk.

Luhansk oblast

The aviation of the Defence Forces launched about 30 strikes. Twenty-five concentration areas of weapons and military equipment and three anti-aircraft missile systems were hit. In addition, our air defence units shot down nine UAVs.

Rocket and artillery forces hit four control posts, fifteen buildups of manpower, weapons and military equipment, twelve ammunition depots, one artillery installation and twenty other important objects.

Enemy attacks were repelled in Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Berestove, Bilohorivka, Ivanhrad, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Nevelske, Novomykhailivka, Opytne, Spirne, Terny and Yakovlivka settlements.

The following settlements were under russian fire:

  • in Bakhmut direction – Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Bilohorivka, Ivanhrad, Klishchiivka, Kostiantynivka, Kurdiumivka, Maiorsk, Niu-York, Odradivka, Opytne, Siversk, Soledar, Yakovlivka and Zelenopillia;
  • in Kramatorsk direction – Hrekivka, Hryhorivka, Kovalivka, Makiivka, Nadiia, Novoiehorivka, Novovodiane, Olhivka, Pershotravneve, Rozdolivka, Tabaivka, Terny, Torske, Verkhnokamianske, Vyshneve, Yampolivka and Zarichne.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, reported that the General Staff will announce the newly liberated settlements. He also noted that the recently liberated ones are mined and stabilisation measures are ongoing. So it is impossible to return to these cities for the time being.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The enemy has once again shelled an energy infrastructure facility in Kyiv oblast. There is a risk of power shortage in the national energy system. The head of the regional military administration Oleksii Kuleba urged the residents of Kyiv oblast to use electric power in the energy safe mode to minimize the consequences of the shelling.

The Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko reported that the damage to cultural heritage sites in Kyiv as a result of russian shelling amounts to several million hryvnias. In general, the losses in the cultural sphere caused by the russian aggression amounts to hundreds of millions of euros. The assistance from Western partners is very important, specifically UNESCO, which is already beginning to arrive.

The Brovary community will purchase generators and burners to be used in case of emergencies. The City Council members agreed to allocate UAH 5 million as part of the “Target Programme for the Protection of the Population and Territories from Technogenic and Natural Emergencies”.

According to the report of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, 1K beds were delivered for shelters in Bucha. This was implemented under cooperation between the Bucha Town Council and representatives of the MSB project from Sweden with the support of the European Commission.

Work has begun at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv to repair the damage caused by the russian attack. According to the university administration, these missile strikes on Kyiv damaged several buildings of the KNU, all of which are historical monuments of national importance. The university will initially receive UAH 15 million from the reserve fund to replace windows and doors.

The International Committee of the Red Cross will help restore six apartment buildings in Irpin damaged as a result of hostilities. Irpin Mayor Oleksandr Markushyn and a representative of the Red Cross signed a memorandum on one of the damaged roofs.

According to the KCSA, training on civilian protection and national resistance was held in all districts of Kyiv. Such lessons are provided not only to the volunteer units of territorial defense and public utility workers, but also to the regular residents of Kyiv. After all, people need to know the basics of civilian protection, what to do in the case of shelling or certain destruction, and to be ready to defend their families.

A new exhibition and mural “Ukraine is the Shield of Europe!” have been presented at the National Museum of Ukrainian History in the WWII devoted to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. The Museum of War keeps revising the memorial space and buildings of the Soviet period. Museum staff document the events of the russian war almost in real time this is how the exhibition “Ukraine Crucifixion” was opened.

Zhytomyr oblast

The City Council reported that on Monday, educational institutions in Zhytomyr will continue to work as usual. This applies to all general secondary education institutions vocational schools, kindergartens, as well as extracurricular educational institutions. Parents have received recommendations for sending their children to kindergartens.

The bridge over the Dubovets River destroyed as a result of russian aggression in Zhytomyr oblast is planned to be repaired. Pursuant to the terms of the tender, the expected procurement value is UAH 72.3 million, which includes the project documentation development.

As reported by Zhytomyr RMA, eight Social Taxi services with 11 special vehicles are operating in Zhytomyr oblast. The key purpose is to improve social services for people with disabilities and other low-mobility groups who cannot move independently or move with the help of crutches, canes, or wheelchairs.

The Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zhytomyr oblast reported that James Wiley, a volunteer and combat medic from the United States, together with a volunteer Oleksandra Kachur, conducted first aid training with rescuers on duty in Berdychiv. At the end of the event, rescuers received personal first aid kits equipped with all necessary medications in accordance with the latest standards.

Sumy oblast

According to the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the enemy shelled the territory of Hlukhiv community with mortars. As a result, there were 4 explosions. In the morning, mortar shelling continued on the territory of Bilopillia and Richky communities.

Over 600 applications were submitted by entrepreneurs under the state support program for small businesses in Sumy oblast. According to the microcredit department of the Oschadbank branch, farms in Sumy oblast are a priority in lending.

Doctors within the UK-Med project continue to provide free medical services to the residents of Trostyanets community. This is an international non-governmental medical organization that came to Ukraine to support their colleagues Ukrainian doctors during the war, and to provide medical assistance in cities and communities affected by the criminal actions of the aggressor country.

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Border Guard Service, the enemy was firing at Semenivka community with 120-mm mortar shells. There were three explosions. At the same time, the russians dropped two explosive devices from a UAV on the territory of the community. Another 8 mortar rounds were launched on the territory of the community at night.

Acorrding to the ‘North’ Operational Command, there were 8 mortar attacks near the Progres settlement and 10 attacks near Sosnivka. There were no losses among the personnel or equipment.

Power engineers of Chernihiv oblast ask residents of the oblast to limit the use of electricity during peak hours and warn about possible emergency cutoffs. This is due to the russian shelling of an energy infrastructure facility in Kyiv oblast, which suffered significant damage.

Exhibition “Defenders of Earth and Heaven” opened in Pryluky. It features photos of mothers, wives, and daughters of fallen soldiers in the russian-Ukrainian war. According to the Pryluky City Council, “Defenders of the Earth” dressed in traditional clothes symbolizing the genetic code of the Ukrainian nation.

Varvyn Lyceum №2 raised funds for a thermal imaging device for a math and computer science teacher who defends Ukraine in the Armed Forces. His fellow teachers arranged a fundraising campaign to purchase a thermal imaging device for his unit and raised about 60K hryvnias.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Russian terror continues to rage. The occupiers again shelled Dnipropetrovsk oblast with heavy artillery, Hurricane and Grad MRLSs. Three communities of the Nikopol district were attacked.  

Nikopol was attacked three times. There are two wounded a man born in 1987 and a woman born in 1980. The injured were hospitalized. Their condition is stable. In the city, over a dozen residential buildings, shops, offices, a transport company, a garage cooperative, a gas pipeline and electricity supply lines were damaged.

Enterprises and houses were damaged by enemy fire in Marhanets and Chervonohryhoriv communities. There are no casualties.

According to the head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk, air defense forces shot down five enemy “Shahed-136” over the region overnight: three kamikaze drones in Kryvyi Rih district, two in Nikopol district.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Valentyn Reznichenko informed that  russians struck Nikopol in the morning. They hit peaceful residential districts with heavy artillery. Three people were injured. Houses and administrative buildings were damaged in the city.

Yulia Doroshenko, a 10-year-old volunteer from Dnipro, has raised more than six thousand hryvnias selling souvenirs she made herself in a month. She bought tools for repairing cars and sent them to the military from the “East” air command.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia students teach foreigners to make patriotic bracelets. The participants sell the jewelry and donate money to the needs of the Ukrainian defenders. Various countries have participated in this international project for seven months.

Kirovohrad oblast

Natalia Salimova, the organizer and head of the “Mobile Volunteer Group” public organization, informed about a free training on rendering first aid in wartime conditions in Kropyvnytskyi held by a certified instructor Olena Kuchneva. 

Cherkasy oblast

28 drones purchased on raised funds were sent from Cherkasy to the front line. Two special cars, one and a half dozen backpacks for combat medics with everything necessary, as well as quadcopters, tablets and generators were sent to the front from Cherkasy oblast.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On the night of October 15, the russian military attacked Zaporizhzhia with 4 kamikaze drones.     Later, 10 S-300 missiles were fired at the regional center. Industrial and energy infrastructure facilities were destroyed. 21 high-rise buildings, 15 private houses, an educational institution and a parking lot were damaged by the blast wave. There were no casualties. Relevant services are working on the ground. According to preliminary information, air defense forces were activated.

The police received 68 reports of destruction. Zaporizhzhia, Novostepnianske, Stepnohirsk, Shcherbaky, Orikhiv, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Olhivske, Poltavka, Novoandriivka, Dorozhnianka, Novodanylivka, Bilohiria, Novoandriivka, Novodarivka, Charivne, Chervone, Temyrivka were attacked.

According to the General Staff, in the previous days, the Defense Forces struck about 100 occupiers near Orikhiv, Kinsky Rozdory, and Tokmak. More than 25 of them have just been mobilized. 4 S-300 systems were destroyed near Berdiansk.

According to available information, a large number of wounded servicemen are being admitted to medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territories. Hospitals in Tokmak are overcrowded. According to the information from local residents, civilians are not accepted in hospitals due to the high workload of doctors and the lack of beds. The mortality rate among the wounded military exceeds 50% due to the low quality of medical care and the refusal of the russian occupying forces to evacuate the seriously wounded to the territory of russia.

The heating season may not start in the temporarily occupied Enerhodar due to Zaporizhzhia NPP stoppage. Oleksandr Starukh, the head of the Zaporizhia Regional Military Administration, announced this. In addition, the new exit conditions created by the occupiers for those willing to leave Enerhodar and other temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia oblast significantly complicate the evacuation. Today, a huge queue of people willing to get “permits” from the terrorists to leave for Zaporizhzhia, has formed in Enerhodar.

Mykolaiv oblast

The Police of Mykolayiv oblast reports that yesterday, Ochakiv, Bereznehuvate and Halytsyniv territorial communities were under enemy fire. Three premises of the administrative building, four shops and two warehouses were damaged. 

As of October 15, almost 106K internally displaced persons were registered in Mykolaiv oblast. Their number is increasing every day. 16 thousand 239 places have been created on the territory of the region for temporary accommodation of IDPs. In fact, 15 thousand 507 places are occupied, but there are free places. In addition, a program, according to which every person or family who owns a private home can accommodate internally displaced persons and receive compensation for this, is actively operating in the region. 

On October 14, on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Serhiy Kachan, head of the Management Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv oblast. Colonel Serhii Kachan organized the defense of the Security Service administration and high-quality interaction with the military formations that were in Mykolaiv.

Odesa oblast

The naval group of enemy forces in the Black Sea consists of 12 ships and boats, maneuvering near the Crimea, hiding from the storm and our weapons behind Cape Tarkhankut. 3 missile carriers, including one submarine, are on standby. They are equipped with a partially used Kalibrs supply in the amount of 12 units.

Starting on Monday, October 17, Odesa educational institutions, where shelters are set up, will resume work in offline or mixed form. Educational institutions, where the shelter is not equipped, continue to work remotely.

In Odesa, volunteers are working on a mobile kitchen for the military. The field kitchen is planned to be made in 10 days, after which the container will be sent to Kherson oblast. The kitchen is connected to the tractor trailer, which can cross many obstacles.

Kherson oblast

The situation in the South Buh direction is quite tense, but under control. The enemy conducts an active defense and tries to hold the occupied lines.

The enemy intensified the reconnaissance, specifically in Bashtanka and Beryslav districts aiming to detect the position of our troops and adjust the artillery fire. Assault and army aircraft attacked our positions towards Davydiv Brid 6 times.

Aviation forces of Ukraine launched 13 air strikes, including on strongholds, manpower, weapons and equipment buildups of the enemy, as well as on anti-aircraft defense positions, control points and storage of ammunition.

The russians attacked the communities in Beryslav district. Private houses and farm buildings were damaged, fires broke out. As a result of shelling, transformer substations, elevator buildings and equipment of mobile communication stations were damaged. Unfortunately, there are casualties among the civilian population. The police of Kherson oblast received 31 reports regarding war crimes committed by the russian military against the civilian population.

The russian military is intensifying checks at checkpoints in the occupied territories. Filtering measures have become stricter. They carefully check phones and other gadgets, conduct detailed searches of cars and personal belongings, and break into houses.

After de-occupation of Arkhanhelsk, the police discovered another war crimes committed by the military of the aggressor country. A local resident was killed by an enemy mini-mine in his own car near the cemetery. Military personnel of the russian federation, who were in the occupied village at the time, did not allow local residents to approach the blown-up car. Currently, the police are establishing all circumstances of the war crime.

In the course of stabilization measures in de-occupied Kherson oblast, security service officers found another russian headquarters in the village of Novooleksandrivka. The occupiers used the premises of the village council as a base for holding a “referendum”. Law enforcement officers found a large batch of children’s clothing in a militaristic style among campaign materials. These items were intended for local residents as an incentive to come and vote in the fake referendum. However, when the enemy saw that local residents were avoiding participation in the pseudo-referendum, they resorted to threats and machinations.

Several thousand children were taken from Kherson oblast to the territory of russia. According to the deputy prime minister of the russian federation Husnullin, 500 people are taken out of Kherson oblast every day and placed in different regions of russia.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Kamin-Kashir community received equipment from Germany that can be used to strengthen the border with belarus. The truck with a crane and tipping function will be used for digging trenches near the border and for other defense purposes.

In Volyn, little patriots bought an SUV for border guards. Funds for the car were collected by students of the Cordon sports club during the charity championship Honor and glory to the indomitable! with karate.

Zakarpattia oblast

President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine and the award of the Golden Star order to the former commander of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade, Colonel from Zakarpattia oblast Oleh Honcharuk.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, changes in the notification system were announced. Now not only the start of an air alert will be reported. If the alarm is long, a reminder will sound every 30 minutes that the danger continues.

Lviv oblast

In Lviv, an art event Under the cover of the Armed Forces was held. Bands of the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Peter Sagaidachny, the Western Territorial Administration of the National Guard of Ukraine and the Lviv Children’s School of Arts performed well-known Ukrainian and foreign compositions.

The Lviv State University of Life Safety celebrated its 75th anniversary. On the institution’s birthday, cadets of the 1st year of study swore allegiance to the Ukrainian people, becoming part of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Rivne oblast

On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, Head of the Rivne RMA, Vitaly Koval, thanked Ukrainian heroes: military, police, rescuers and other security forces.

In Sarny, on the walls of the city’s cultural center a patriotic mural was created by Ivanna Zhuk.

Ternopil oblast

Professor Harald Teufelsbauer of the Vienna Medical University, an honorary professor of the Ivan Horbachevskyy Ternopil National Medical University, arrived in Ukraine. Harald Teufelsbauer brought a set of expensive American-made instruments for the needs of the Department of Vascular Surgery of the Ternopil Regional Hospital.

On the facade of the Berezhany Lyceum, a memorial plaque was opened in honour of a student, a sapper of the engineering and sapper department of a separate battalion of the separate 35th marine brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrogradskyi, Honorary Citizen of the city of Berezhany, Hero of Ukraine, Vitaly Skakuna.

The rescuers who worked in liberated territories in Kharkiv oblast as part of the combined detachment of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Ternopil oblast have returned to Ternopil. For two weeks, 25 employees of the State Emergency Service and 8 units of equipment from Ternopil oblast were restoring the functioning of infrastructure facilities in the city of Izium liberated from russian occupation.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In Khmelnytskyi, a charity run Step to Victory, held on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, was held. Over a hundred participants covered a distance of over 2 kilometers to show their gratitude to the defenders of Ukraine, as well as to honor the memory of the Heroes who gave their lives defending Ukraine. The goal of the race is to collect funds for the needs of soldiers who defend Ukraine on the front lines.

Chernivtsi oblast

The personnel of the consolidated detachment of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Chernivtsi oblast returned to Chernivtsi from Kharkiv oblast. In the city of Izium, Kharkiv oblast, rescuers were disassembling damaged elements of roofs and building structures of roofs, restoring residential buildings and providing necessary assistance to the local population.

The UN Secretary General called on the russian federation to grant the International Committee of the Red Cross full access to all prisoners of war.

Estonia, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland sent the European Commission proposals for the ninth package of sanctions, in which they propose to introduce the same restrictions against belarus as against the russian federation.

From October 17 to 30, the air forces of 14 NATO member countries will conduct nuclear deterrence drills. The maneuvers will take place over Belgium, Great Britain and the North Sea. Up to 60 aircraft will be involved.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Muhammad bin Salman. They discussed supporting Ukraine in the fight against the russian occupiers.
