War in Ukraine today: latest news, October 10, 2022 (photo)

It has been the 229th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 18.00:

Incapable of gaining any success on the battle field, the russian army uses the terror tactics against the civilians in Ukraine. By violating norms of the international humanitarian law, traditions and customs of war, they hit the critical infrastructure and civilian buildings.

The enemy once again struck the populated Ukrainian cities with rockets and missiles. Following a massive barrage of rocket attacks, the critical infrastructure and civilians were affected in 20 settlements in Kyiv, Lviv, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Pryluky, Nizhyn, Konotop, Kharkiv, Kremenchuk, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Odesa. Civilians were killed.

The occupiers launched 84 missiles and rockets. Cruise missiles, ballistic rockets, guided cruise missiles and attack drones were used. The air defense forces of Ukraine destroyed 56 targets: 43 cruise missiles and 13 drones. The territory of Ukraine is exposed to the threat of missile and rocket attacks.

The enemy is attempting in the meantime to hold the ground in the temporarily occupied territories, fire Ukrainian positions, and focus its efforts on thwarting the active actions of Ukrainian defenders. They have launched the offensive towards Bakhmut and Avdiivka.

The situation towards Volyn and Polissia did not change significantly. The regime of the self-proclaimed president of republic of belarus is supporting the russian armed aggression and serves as the operations base to launch strikes on the territory of Ukraine and build-up area for weapons. No strike groups were created. As of October 10, there is no threat of the offensive from the republic of belarus.

The enemy fired towards:

  • Siversk from mortars and barreled artillery, notably in the areas of settlements of Yanzhulivka, Tymonovychi, Mykhalchyna Sloboda, Myroopillia;

There were no offensive actions towards Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia. Zakiznychne, Bilohiria, Vremivka, Dorozhnianka, Temurivka and Chervone were attacked.

The enemy intensified firing from tanks, barrel Ed and reactive artillery towards the South Buh. 93 artillery hits, which were three times as much as yesterday, were launched. Not only the positions of Ukrainian defenders, but also civilian houses were attacked. Nikopol, Vyschetarasivka and Novokyivka were affected the most.

The enemy is suffering losses. Based on the verified information, the battalion tactical group of the 150th motor rifle division operating towards Kherson and consisting mostly of the mobilized soldiers already lost almost 520 soldiers.

To meet the needs of medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territories, employed by invaders as hospitals, new medical personnel arrive there.

The occupiers hospitalize wounded soldiers to the child clinic in one of the settlements in Luhansk oblast. There are former prisoners and  members of the military campaign “Wagner” among them. Kids are ill treated and dismissed from the hospital prematurely to free the beds.

The enemy uses civilians as a human shield in the temporarily occupied territories. In some educational institutions of Yasynuvata region, Donetsk oblast, along with the ongoing education process, russian soldiers are being stationed.

The Armed Forces repelled attacks in the areas of Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Maiorsk, Soledar and Pervomaiske.

Together with repelling the air attacks, the aviation of Ukraine launched 5 strikes. 3 areas of buildup of weapons and equipment, 2 anti missile and anti aircraft systems were damaged.
