War in Ukraine today: latest news, November 10, 2022 (photo)

It has been the 260th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 18.00: 

According to the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced up to 7 kilometers towards Petropavlivka-Novoraisk and took control over 6 settlements. Armed Forces of Ukraine also took control over 6 settlements towards Pervomaisk-Kherson. 

The enemy attempts to hold the temporarily occupied territories, focus its efforts on restraining the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, continue to erect defensive constructions on the left bank of the Dnipro river. At the same time they launched the offensive operations towards Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Novopavlivka. 

The enemy hit the settlements in Donetsk, Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

The situation didn’t significantly change towards Volyn and Polissia. The republic of belarus continues to support the russian armed aggression against Ukraine by providing russian armed forces with its infrastructure, territory and airspace. Russian and belarusian force grouping is being formed in the republic of belarus. 

In other directions, the enemy was firing towards: 

Siversk from mortars in the area of settlements of Hremiach, Chernihiv oblast;

Sloboda from mortars, rockets and barrels in the area of settlements of Strilecha, Ternova, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk and Kolodiazne; 

Kupiansk and Lyman from various types of artillery in the area of settlements of Kyslivka, Tabaivka, Berestove, Lisna Stinka, Stelmakhivka, Miasozharivka, Makiivka, Nevsky, Yampolivka and Lyman; 

Bakhmutske from tanks and all types of artillery in the settlements of Rozdolivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Opytne, Kurdiumivka, Toretsk, New York, Maiorsk; 

Avdiivka from tanks, mortars and barrels in the area of settlements of Avdiivka, Opytne, Vodiane, Pervomaisk, Nevelske, Mariinka, Paraskoiivka and Novomykhailivka; 

Novopavlivka, Zaporizhzhia from tanks, various types of artillery in the area of settlements of Vuhledar, Pavlivka, Novosilka, Neskuchne, Novopil, Temyrivka, Olhivske, Uspenivka, Chervone, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Charivne, Orikhiv and Stepove. 

Towards the South Buh, Musiivka, Illinka and Novokyivka, Dnipropetrovsk oblast, were shelled with artillery. 

To hold the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the invaders are constructing fortifications on the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia oblast. To speed up the construction, the occupiers are trying to engage the civilians in the construction. 

To replace the personnel losses and reinforce the force group towards Kherson, the invaders are looking for and detaining the soldiers retreating towards Kharkiv. 

Invaders are being sent to war without warm clothes, equipment, protective gear and weapons. Officials pledge to provide them with everything in the area of hostilities. 

Mobilized soldiers are being trained on the territory of russia. Based on the available information, they will be sent to the front line later in December from Smolensk. These mobilized soldiers were being trained on the basis of the military academy of russian air defense forces. 

The air defense of Ukraine launched 8 strikes. 7 areas of buildup of manpower, weapons and equipment, as well as locations of the enemy’s anti missile and anti aircraft system.

The rocket and artillery forces of Ukraine hit the command point, 8 areas of buildup of manpower, weapons and equipment, 2 ammunition depots, 5 anti-missile and anti-aircraft systems and other key russian military facilities.


The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy  reported that 41 settlements were liberated in the south of Ukraine.

According to the deputy of the Minister of Internal Affairs Mary Akopian, over 2K bodies of Ukrainians killed as a result of russian aggression can’t be identified. Much attention is given to DNA testing and criminalistic laboratories. She also stressed that Ukraine needs a couple dozen laboratories to promptly respond and make required tests.  

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff, towards Sloboda the invaders hit with various types of artillery. The following settlements were attacked: Hryhorivka, Kolodiazne, Ohirtseve, Strilecha, Ternova and Vovchansk. In Kupiansk and Lyman directions, russians shelled the Ukrainian territory with mortars, cannon and rocket artillery, targeting Berestove, Bilohorivka, Kyslivka, Makiivka, Miasozharivka, Nevske, Ploshchanka, Spirne and Stelmakhivka.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that overall emergency repair works are planned at 307 facilities, 170 of them are apartment buildings in Kharkiv and the region.

Law enforcers exhumed the bodies of four people in Kupiansk district after russian occupation. The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported on the consequences of the enemy shelling. Among the bodies are a couple killed in their own house, the body of another man was found without a head and with damaged limbs. As a result of the shelling of Senkove village on November 9, the House of Culture was destroyed.

Yesterday, the enemy shelled civilians of cities and villages near the front line and the border with russians. Kupiansk and Vovchansk cities, Dvorichna and other settlements of Chuhuiv, Kharkiv and Kupiansk districts were shelled.

In Vovchansk, an infrastructure facility was damaged. In Kupiansk, a fire broke out in a shop as a result of shelling. A 36-year-old resident of Kupiansk was hospitalised with injuries.

Mine clearance continues on the liberated territories. Pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service defused 238 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

The enemy troops hit Vuhledar with a missile. The aviation shelled Bakhmut, Marinka, Novomykhailivka, Nevelske, Soledar and Vuhledar.

Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, claimed that the plan of post-war reconstruction of Mariupol was presented today in Kyiv. The main thing is to develop approaches and general philosophy of reconstruction.

Head of the Donetsk RMA, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informed that russians killed 3 civilians: 2 in Bakhmut and 1 in Pavlivka. In addition, law enforcers found the bodies of 5 people killed during the occupation in Yarova. Another 12 people were injured.

At night, russians shelled civilian objects in the frontline from Vuhledar to Soledar.

In Volnovakha direction, 1 person was killed in Pavlivka. Vuhledar also was under intense shelling.

In Donetsk direction, there were isolated attacks on Avdiivka yesterday evening and at night, killing 1 person. Moreover, Marinka community was shelled. No information on casualties and destruction was reported.

Bakhmut suffered the most in Horlivka direction: 1 civilian was killed and 2 more injured; 4 private houses and an administrative building were damaged. The outskirts of Soledar, Svitlodarsk and Toretsk communities were attacked at night. There were no casualties.

Luhansk oblast

Units of the Defense Forces repelled enemy attacks in Makiivka and Novoselivske. The invaders targeted Bilohorivka, Makiivka, Miasozharivka, Nevske, Ploshchanka and Stelmakhivka at Kupiansk and Lyman directions using various types of weapons.

Brigadier General Oleksii Hromov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informed at a briefing that the AFU advanced two kilometers in Luhansk oblast yesterday.

According to the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, russian attacks were repelled from Makiivka and Novoselivske. In some communities, filtration measures are only intensifying. The traitors are looking for the untrustworthy among themselves. Meanwhile, a large number of injured invaders from Svatove direction, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are advancing almost every day, were brought to Novopskov maternity hospital.

The invaders are taking looted property and stolen cars from Sievierodonetsk by taking what is left. Looting is going on under the cover of representatives of the so-called state security agencies. There are tens of thousands of apartments in the city without owners who have evacuated, used by the enemy.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, reported that the situation near Kreminna and Svatove is difficult. Russians have gathered a lot of reserves there. He also noted that there is gas supply in half of the city, where the distribution system remained untouched. In those areas where it was destroyed by russians in spring, nobody restored the gas supply. It has been more than six months.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration Oleksii Kuleba reported that work is underway in Kyiv oblast to strengthen the defense capability of the region and improve the multilevel defense system in case of a repeated offensive by russian troops. According to him, efforts are being made to provide the military with everything necessary, such as equipment, military vehicles, and special devices.

According to the head of Kyiv City Military Administration Serhiy Popko, local air defense forces were trained near the capital. The training was attended by representatives of the military command and military administration.

The architectural company Gensler will help rebuild the city of Irpin, destroyed at the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion. According to the Mayor of Irpin Oleksandr Markushyn, the American company will facilitate the involvement of the best international specialists and experts in reconstruction of the city, will provide advice on development of a detailed reconstruction plan, taking into account the infrastructure, transport, sports, educational, environmental and other needs of the community.

The restoration of the pedestrian-bicycle bridge, damaged by one of the russian missiles on October 10, continues in the capital. According to Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klichko, new glass elements are already being installed on the bridge to replace those damaged by the explosion and railing lighting is being repaired.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reported that the monuments to Bolshevik leader Mykola Shchors and Soviet commander Mykola Vatutin will be demolished in Kyiv. They will be dismantled and removed from the public area into the museum space. According to Kyiv RMA, 11 streets in Kyiv, the names of which are associated with russia and the Soviet past, have also been renamed, bringing the total number of renamed city objects to 204.

The Help Center for the rescued was opened in Kyiv, where people will be able to receive comprehensive social, psychological and informational support. Kyiv RMA reported that the institution will become the initial service provider for internally displaced persons who left their homes because of the war. There are already 200K of such people in the capital.

As reported by the Obukhiv Military Administration, the region’s community received blankets, sleeping bags, LED lamps, and individual hygiene kits to equip heating centers. In total, there are more than 100 mobile and stationary heating facilities in Obukhiv region.

According to information provided by the Hostomel village military administration, the installation of the first sections of modular houses has started in the village of Horenka, Bucha region. Temporary housing will be provided to IDPs and those who lost their homes during russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The head of the National Police in Kyiv oblast Andrii Nebytov announced that American TV presenter and writer Mitzi Perdue will auction an ancient Colombian emerald and donate the proceeds to support women in Ukraine who suffered from russian aggression. She made this decision when she visited Irpin, Borodianka and Makariv after de-occupation of Kyiv oblast.

Another mural dedicated to rescuers appeared in the capital. The mural is located on the fence and the wall of the State Fire and Rescue Unit. The paintings represent the collective image of rescuers and their heroism, courage, and bravery.

Zhytomyr oblast

Farmers of Zhytomyr oblast are completing grain harvesting. Despite the war, they have already threshed 70 percent of the area which is more than a million tons of grain. Due to the russian naval blockade, most of this year’s and part of last year’s harvest is still in warehouses. To save the harvest, the oblast received from international donors more than two thousand sleeves, which will be distributed among the farms of the region.

“We speak Ukrainian” educational project was launched in Zhytomyr for internally displaced children from the Eastern Ukraine. The club is aimed at “live” communication. It is fun and interesting for children to interact with native speakers of the Ukrainian language, because all classes are held in a playful way.

An open charity auction “Ukraine through the eyes of children” was held in Zhytomyr. The auction featured 48 lots of paintings with symbols of Ukraine. Among them is a painting, which was included in the National Register of Records of Ukraine, created by 412 children. It depicts 277 national symbols. 140K hryvnias raised at the auction were transferred to the needs of the Ukrainian army.

Sumy oblast

According to Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the russians fired 190 shells and mortar rounds on the border areas of Sumy oblast. The following communities were attacked: Znob-Novhorod, Khotin, Krasnopillia, Esman, Myropillia, Shalyhine, and Seredyno-Buda.

The city council reported that cargo from the international humanitarian organization People in Need has arrived in Okhtyrka. This aid is aimed to provide construction materials for people whose houses were damaged due to the war.

According to the Sumy RMA, Sumy oblast received over 2 500 sets of clothes for children from IDP families. Clothing for children, aged from two to 14 years, is designed for winter conditions. Its quantity was based on the requests from the communities.

Group art therapy session was held in Romantyka youth center in Sumy. Participants were learning to overcome internal conflicts and fears with the help of creativity. The event organizers are planning to hold such art therapy sessions on a weekly basis.

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Border Guard Service, the russian troops shelled the border areas of Horodnia community with barrel artillery and MLRS. There were 16 explosions.

Every day russia shells the border areas of Chernihiv oblast: Novhorod-Siverskyi, Horodnya, Semenivka, and Snovsk are under constant fire. Vyacheslav Chaus, the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, said that the enemy conducts attacks using mortars, artillery and MLRS. 1.5K people have already left these settlements due to constant shelling.

The restoration continues at the Chernihiv Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children, heavily damaged by the russian shelling. 3 million UAH were allocated from the state reserve fund for the repair works.

Humanitarian aid from the Clean Kyiv Charitable Foundation arrived in Chernihiv. Medical equipment, including orthopedics, surgery, and resuscitation, has been delivered for the needs of people with limited mobility. All this equipment will be distributed among medical institutions of the oblast.

Servicemen in one of the border communities of Chernihiv oblast delivered a mine awareness training for local residents. According to the initiators of the event, the goal is to inform people about potentially dangerous areas, types of threats and, most importantly, steps to be taken in case of detection of explosive objects. Such events are held regularly within all categories of the population – from children to the elderly people.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk,  an injured woman, damaged houses and power lines are the consequences of night enemy attacks on Dnipropetrovsk oblast. 

Russian troops hit Nikopol district, namely Marhanetsk, Chervonohryhorivka and Nikopol. In Nikopol, a woman born in 1942 was injured as a result of shelling of the city from MRLS. Dozens of residential buildings, gas stations, gas pipelines and electricity networks were damaged. Four residential buildings and power lines were hit in the Chervonohryhorivka community.

In Nikopol region, in the afternoon, the russian troops hit Chervonohryhorivsk community  from MRLS. In Shyroke community of Kryvyi Rih district, a gas leak was discovered in the yard of a private house, probably from the “Smerch” rocket system.  The rescuers of Dnipropetrovsk oblast eliminated 46 pieces of ammunition, one of them was the warhead of a rocket exploded the day before in the suburbs of Kryvyi Rih. 

Vinnytsia oblast

From now on, the Donetsk Children’s and Youth Center will operate in Vinnytsia. It will help the integration of young people from different regions who currently live in Vinnytsia.

The community fund “Podilska hromada” provided financial assistance to enterprises that suffered from the airstrike on Vinnytsia. Seven entrepreneurs who worked in “Yuvileinyi”, which was significantly damaged, received UAH 60,000 to purchase, repair, restore damaged equipment and tools. They have already resumed work.

Volunteers from Vinnytsia are delivering humanitarian cargo to the city of Balakliia. The truck was loaded at ‘Harmony’ Rehabilitation Center and later at ‘Shahina’ Volunteer Center.  The citizens have brought things for the residents of de-occupied Balakliia within the framework of the “Together” project.

Kirovohrad oblast

The head of the public organization “Clothes Bank” Olena Hlinista noted that they provide internally displaced persons with clothes for free. 

A charity event to support the morale of Ukrainians was held in Vilshanka by the international organization Siobhan’s Trust and a team of volunteers from the USA, France, Ireland, Scotland and other countries

Poltava oblast

According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, 113 farmers of the region will receive more than 1 700 polyethylene sleeves for temporary grain storage. This aid came within the cooperation of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine. Each sleeve holds up to 200 tons of grain which can be stored for several months in the open air.

The Regional Comprehensive Program for the Support of Internally Displaced Persons is being developed for 2023-2024. On November 10, the deputy head of the Poltava RMA, Kateryna Ryzhechenko, held a working meeting on its preparation with the heads of specialized departments and offices.

Cherkasy oblast

According to Head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration Andrii Raikovych, schools of the oblast  received “School in a Box” cases from UNICEF. In total, these are 392 group sets with the necessary supplies for studying and development. They will be distributed among schools of the region, specifically among low-cost ones. Priority is also given to educational institutions in rural territorial communities.

An adaptation platform is being launched in Cherkasy region. According to Larisa Khodakovska, director of the Cherkasy Regional Contact Center, advisor on IDP issues in Cherkasy oblast, within the framework of the adaptation platform, specialists such as lawyers, psychologists, volunteers, social service workers, are scheduled to visit places of compact settlement of IDPs.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Around 7 a.m., the enemy attacked Vilnianka district with 2 missiles, probably S-300. As a result of the shelling, farm buildings, machinery and crops stored in warehouses were damaged.

According to the information provided by the President’s Office, the russian occupiers shelled Zaporizhzhia oblast 71 times. 35 infrastructure objects in 16 settlements were attacked, 11 of them were destroyed. One person was injured. The occupying forces opened fire on the cities of Huliaipole, Orikhiv, the village of Zaliznychne, Bilohiria, Charivne, Chervone, Malynivka, Dorozhnianka, Uspenivka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Olhivske, Shcherbaky, Mala Tokmachka, Stepove, Kamianske.

Mykolaiv oblast

On November 10, an information about the liberation of Snihurivka by the Defense Forces of Ukraine appeared in the media. The settlement was occupied by russian troops from March 19, 2022. Nataliia Humeniuk, spokeswoman for the “South” Operational Command, noted that as of November 10, the situation in Snihurivka requires “informational silence”.

Yesterday, November 9, the regional center was exposed to russian armed attacks. Four private residential buildings, a garage, vehicles, premises of a private enterprise and a bakery were damaged. A 51-year-old man was injured.

The shelling of Bereznehuvate community, located on the demarcation line, continues. Information on victims and damage is being clarified.

Representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency conducted an inspection at the South Ukrainian nuclear power plant. The purpose of the IAEA visit was to verify the absence of undeclared nuclear material. During the IAEA inspection at the South Ukrainian NPP, the inspectors did not find any undeclared nuclear material or undeclared activities with nuclear material.

Odesa oblast

The enemy fleet in the Black Sea consists of 14 ships, including 1 missile carrier with 8 Kalibr missiles on board.

Two Granat-3 unmanned scouts were shot down over the Black Sea in Odesa oblast. This was reported by the “South” Operational Command.

In Odesa,  “Technari” volunteers group developed the “Owl 0.2” night-vision device, which will allow soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to drive in the evening and at night without headlights on. The “Owl” was designed so that the enemy could not see the positions of the Ukrainian military at night due to the light of headlights. The kit includes a 4K monitor with touch control buttons, aviation connectors and cameras. The military can see the road in front of them at a distance of up to 30 meters with the help of the device, and can move at a speed of up to 55 kilometers per hour.

Kherson oblast

The situation towards the South Buh remains tense, but controlled by the Defense Forces. The enemy is regrouping and taking measures to partially withdraw troops to the left bank of the Dnipro.

According to Commander-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, along the Pervomaiske – Kherson axis, Ukrainian defenders advanced 7 km, retook control over 6 settlements, the area of the liberated territory is 157 sq km. Since the 1st of October, the advance of our troops in the enemy depth of defense has been up to 36,5 km. the total area of the reclaimed territory – up to 1381 sq km. 41 settlements have been reclaimed along the Kherson axis.

The enemy continues shelling the liberated territories and deep rear areas. In the morning, the occupiers shelled the recently liberated Zolota Balka. The occupiers targeted humanitarian aid distribution points and administrative buildings. Private surroundings were damaged. No casualties.

In the temporarily occupied territories, the enemy, changing the place of deployment, leaving roadblocks, mining objects and territories. The enemy continues blackmailing with a man-made disaster.

The enemy launched a rocket attack on the liberated territories and settlements of Beryslav district on the right bank of the Dnipro, having destroyed a private house. One person was killed, another was injured.

According to clarified information, the so-called evacuation of the population from Kherson has been stopped due to the lack of willing people. The occupation authorities stopped paying salaries and social benefits in Kherson.

The police opened 62 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes committed by the russian army in Kherson oblast. The russian servicemen shot a 56-year-old man and seized his Chery Tiggo car near the Dariivka bridge in Kherson district. Occupiers shot a local resident at a public transport stop in the village of Kairo, Kakhovka district.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Head of the center, Volodymyr Shmal, reported that doctors of the Volyn Center of Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine volunteered to work for ten days in the liberated territories of Kherson oblast. One doctor, two paramedics and a driver took with them an emergency ambulance, medicines and all necessary equipment that would allow them to perform their duties.

The Shatsk territorial community reported that residents of the community sent humanitarian aid to Kharkiv oblast, namely 15 tonnes of potatoes, carrots, beets, cabbage, onions, and preserves.

A consistent power supply device is being tested at one of the intersections in Lutsk. It runs on petrol and must ensure the operation of traffic lights in the absence of electricity. According to utility workers, if the device performs well in operation, such devices will be installed in other areas with heavy traffic.

The Lutsk production studio Pravda PRO is creating a historical documentary film about persecution of Protestants during the soviet union. The key goal of ​​the painting is to show the victory of faith over totalitarianism.

Zakarpattia oblast

Residents of Zakarpattia oblast bought a car for the 46th separate amphibious assault brigade as part of the Cars for the Armed Forces promotion. Mitsubishi SUV was maintained, repainted in a camouflage color and went to the south of Ukraine to the military.

Employees of the Uzhhorod City Council took part in the Forum on digitalization of communities during the war. The event was organized by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Zakarpattia RMA  and Diya. Business support center for entrepreneurs.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In the RMA, a meeting with representatives of the Government Commissioner for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the Ivano-Frankivsk RMA and with representatives of the Department of Community and Territorial Development, Road, Housing and Communal Services, Urban Planning and Architecture of the RMA was held. They discussed accessibility to social and public infrastructure for persons with disabilities.

Three robotic resuscitation beds were sent to the Ivano-Frankivsk military hospital thanks to the cooperation of the rector of the Church of All Saints of the Ukrainian Land, Fr. Yuriy Buraka with Spanish partners, in particular with St. Joseph/Candler Hospital.

Lviv oblast

The Lviv Defense Cluster (LDC) sent 2K bulletproof vests to rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine within the framework of the signing of a memorandum on cooperation between the LDC and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

The Czech humanitarian organization Man in Trouble provided household appliances for IDPs in Drohobych region. Czech partners help with hot meals for IDPs living in collective shelters of Boryslav, Truskavet and Drohobych territorial communities.

An ambulance was sent from Drohobych region to the front line. Benefactors from CF Kolo sent the car to the front as part of the 1K Freedom Cars initiative.

A charity evening auction Code of the Nation organized by the NGO Apostolska Chota was held in Horodok. Over UAH 500K were collected for an armored car for the Armed Forces. The car is required to evacuate wounded soldiers from the combat zone.

Students of the Mykolaiv community raised over UAH 30K at the charity fair. All funds will go to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

An American psychiatrist and specialist in brain engineering with 22 years of experience, Jeffrey Rose, came to Lviv to support the Ukrainians.
