War in Ukraine today: latest news, November 01, 2022 (photo)

It has been the 251th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm: 

The enemy is attempting to hold the ground on the temporarily occupied territories and focus its efforts on restraining the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in some directions. They continue the offensive operations towards Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Novopavlivka. 

The enemy is firing at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine along the contact line, erect defensive constructions and conducts aerial reconnaissance. They continue to attack the critical infrastructure and civilian homes by violating the norms of international humanitarian law, customs of war. 

The invaders launched 4 missiles and 26 airstrikes, 27 multi rocket launcher attacks. 

Over 20 settlements were attacked in Mykilske, Zaporizhzhia oblast, Poltava, Kramatorsk, Nikopol and Mykolaiv among them. 

The territory of Ukraine is still under the threat of new strikes and UAV attacks, notably from the territory of belarus. 

The situation did not significantly change towards Volyn and Polissia. The republic of belarus keeps supporting the russian armed aggression. 

The enemy is firing towards: 

Siversk from mortars and barrels in the area of settlements of Senkivka, Hai, Chernihiv oblast, Oleksandrivka and Vovkivka, Sumy oblast; 

Sloboda from various types of artillery in the area of settlements of Vilkhuvatka, Vovchansk, Kozacha Lopan, Krasne, Milove, Starytsia, Strilecha, Veterynarne and Chuhunivka; 

Kupiansk and Lyman from mortars, barrels and rockets in the area of settlements of Dvorichna, Kucherivka, Kupiansk, Kyslivka, Berestove, Hrekivka, Nevske, Osynove, Terny and Torske; 

Bakhmut from various types of artillery in the area of settlements of Zalenopillia, Berestove, Bakhmut, Bakhmutske, Ivanhrad, Soledar, Spirne, Bilohorivka, Opytne and Yakovlivka; 

Avdiivka from artillery of different calibres in the area of settlements of Avdiivka, Mariinka, Vodiane, Paraskovivka, Krasnohorivka, Pervomaiske and Nevelske; 

Novopavlivka from mortars, barrels and rockets in the area of settlements of Bohoiavlenka, Pavlivka, Velyka Novosilka, Prechystivka, Vuhledar, Vremivka and Neskuchne; 

Zaporizhzhia from all types of artillery in the area of settlements of Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Stepove, Olhivske, Malynivka, Novodanylivka and Chervone; 

The settlements bordering the contact line were attacked towards the South Buh. The city of Nikopol was shelled with russian multi rocket launchers. 

The occupiers continue the civilians’ forced mobilization on the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson oblast. They try to intimidate locals by spreading the information on alleged demolition of the dam of Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, whilst locals do not have access to communication media.

Kherson invaders’ authorities were relocated to the city of Skadovsk. 

Russian military command is attempting to replace constant personnel losses sustained in the course of hostilities in Ukraine with newly mobilized soldiers. Russian FSB employees are putting pressure on those who refuse to go to war. 

Based on the verified information, the enemy’s ammunition depot was destroyed in Zaporizhzhia oblast on October 29. Moreover, 5 enemy’s equipment units were  destroyed, 30 invaders were killed, and 100 wounded. 

Air defense forces of Ukraine launched 22 strikes. 19 buildups of weapons, equipment, as well as 3 anti-missile and anti-aircraft systems were hit. Ukrainian defenders brought down two Orlan-10 UAVs and six Shahed-136 UAVs in different directions. 

The rocket and artillery troops of Ukraine struck a buildup of manpower, weapons and equipment, the ammunition depot and four other key enemy’s targets. 

After the meeting with the EU commissioner for energy Kadri Simson the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed that 40% of  Ukrainian power facilities were affected as a result of terrorist russian attacks. They discussed further steps on providing energy safety guarantees for Ukraine, as well as intensifying energy sanctions against russia.  

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba, russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian targets is a component of their genocide strategy. Attacks on  heating and power facilities aim at depriving civilians of power and heat in winter. The Minister stressed that 1948 genocide convention clearly states that genocide is an intentional impact on living conditions of a group of people in part or as a whole with their physical elimination in mind. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff, russian troops shelled Vovchansk and six other settlements of the region. More than 10 settlements, including Dvorichna, Kozacha Lopan, Kupiansk, Vovchansk, were under the enemy attack.

The Office of the President of Ukraine claimed that as of November 1, the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated 568 settlements in Kharkiv oblast.

Kharkiv Mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said that heating points, planned to be installed in Kharkiv in case of emergency power and heat cuts, will work around the clock. Their lists will be posted in announcements at the entrances.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that there were no russian attacks at night in Kharkiv. The invaders shelled with artillery the settlements bordering the contact line, in particular Chuhuiv  and Kupiansk regions.

After 21 pm invaders struck Kupiansk, a residential building was destroyed. There were no casualties.

Medics hospitalized a 50-year-old woman injured as a result of shelling in Kivsharivka, Kupiansk region. The patient is in serious condition.

Pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service continue de-mining the territory. 563 explosive ordnance were defused.

Donetsk oblast

Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informed that russians killed 3 civilians: 2 in Bakhmut and 1 in Kurakhove. In addition, law enforcers found the body of 1 civilian killed during the occupation in Rubtsi. 3 people were injured yesterday.

In the middle of the night russians launched 2 missile attacks on Kramatorsk, fourteen missiles hit the industrial zone. There was no information about casualties and destruction.

In Donetsk direction, there were no casualties. A private building was destroyed in Kurakhove, there were also hits on the outskirts of the villages. In Avdiivka, there were isolated hits at night and two massive artillery attacks in the morning. In Ocheretyne community there was shelling on the outskirts of villages, power transmission line was damaged.

In Horlivka direction, one person was killed and 2 injured, a private and an apartment buildings were damaged in Bakhmut. In Toretsk community, 4 buildings were destroyed in Kurdiumivka, a building was damaged and cattle killed in Nelipivka. In Soledar community, there was isolated shelling near villages, and a private hangar was damaged in Rozdolivka.

In Lysychansk direction, shelling of Torske and Zarichne in Lyman community did not stop. Details are being established.

Mariupol Mayor’s Councillor, Petro Andriushchenko, reported that a hotel on the Mariupol-Donetsk highway was shelled in Volnovakha.

Two bank branches restored their work in liberated Lyman.

Luhansk oblast

Head of Sievierodonetsk City Military-Civil Administration, Oleksandr Striuk, informed that the city is living in the Middle Ages. The invaders have provided electricity in only a few dozen houses. He noted that there is a shortage of technical water and garbage is practically not removed from the yards. In turn, the occupation authorities do not care about mass graves that appeared in the city.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, reported that the aviation of the Defence Forces of Ukraine launched 14 strikes. Areas of concentration of weapons and military equipment, strongholds and positions of air defense complexes were hit. In different directions, our air defense units shot down 4 helicopters, 2 UAVs and 45 enemy cruise missiles.

Rocket and artillery forces hit 2 control posts, 3 buildups of manpower, weapons and military equipment and other important enemy military targets.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink reported that US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried visited Kyiv to discuss support for Ukraine.

Ukrenergo reported that energy facilities supplying Boryspil, Brovary, Pereyaslav, Vyshhorod and Irpin regions were damaged due to yesterday’s missile attack by a terrorist country. 300K customers in Kyiv oblast were left without electricity.

Kyiv RMA reported that the power supply in the oblast has been restored by 90% now, and planned stabilization shutdowns are ongoing.

Power and water supply has been fully restored in the capital. However, light shutdowns will continue to be used due to a shortage in the power system. According to the Kyiv RMA, more than a thousand employees of “Kyivvodokanal”, more than a hundred specialists of DTEK and dozens of units of special equipment were involved in the liquidation of damage caused by missile strikes.

In order to save electricity consumption, the schedule of trains in Kyiv metro will be changed. Buses will operate on all trolleybus routes of the capital.

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klychko, said that in the event of an emergency in winter, they are ready to deploy about 1,000 heating points for the city’s residents. To this end, electricity generators have already been purchased and water reserves have been made.

The regional military administration reported that reconstruction of the oblast continues after the attacks of the terrorist country. In the city of Irpin, damaged high-rise buildings are being restored, roofs are being repaired and facade work is being carried out.

A project to create a National Military Memorial Cemetery is being implemented in the capital. It is planned to be located on the territory of the “Lysa Gora” tract of the Holosiivskyi district. This decision was made at a meeting of the Kyiv City Council. The estimated area of the military cemetery will be 140 hectares.

Zhytomyr oblast

Due to the shelling of the energy infrastructure by russian troops, the power deficit in Zhytomyr oblast is about 30 percent. According to “Zhytomyroblenergo”, electricity consumers in the city and oblast have been divided into four sectors and, in the event of an emergency, the power supply will be turned off in one of these sectors.

Zhytomyr RMA reported that another batch of buses was handed over by the Government of Estonia for communities of the oblast. As part of Ukraine’s cooperation with Estonia, buses were received this time by Olevsk, Ovruch, Khoroshiv, Berezivka, Lubny, Semenivka communities, as well as Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University.

Educational institutions of Zhytomyr oblast will receive 2 918 modern Chromebooks from Google. As reported in the Department of Education and Science of the Zhytomyr RMA, the project is a continuation of the “Laptop for every teacher” initiative, and its implementation was made possible thanks to the support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The public organization “In Touch Ukraine Foundation” reported that 5 “Spilno” children’s site will be opened in Zhytomyr oblast soon. UNICEF humanitarian assistance programs, consultations of psychologists and social workers, various events, master classes and many activities are waiting for children and adults of Baranivka, Yemilchyne, Olevsk, Ruzhyn and Cherniakhiv communities.

Sumy oblast

The head of Sumy RMA, Dmytro Zhivytskyi reported that the occupiers shelled Krasnopillia community with barrel artillery. 36 hits were recorded. In the evening, the enemy shelled 10 mines from the russian territory on Znob-Novhorodske community. There were no victims or destruction.

A mine safety workshop will be held in Sumy for youth aged 14 to 35. It will be conducted by a representative of the Main Directorate of the Patrol Police in the Sumy oblast. The event will take place on November 4 at the “Romantika” shopping center. They will talk about explosives and rules for handling them to save life.

The Buryn hospital will now have an autonomous oxygen station. This decision was made by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Taking into account the urgent need of the medical institution for oxygen to treat covid patients, the hospital will be provided with its own station worth about 3 million hryvnias.

Yevgenia Kashchenko, a 10-year-old schoolgirl from Sumy, sang downtown to raise money for her father’s military department. This is the second time the girl helps the soldiers. Thanks to her first attempt, Zhenya, together with caring people, funds were raised for a thermal imager camera, and now there are plans to buy warm clothes for the defenders.

A teacher from Sumy makes pocket heaters for the Armed Forces together with his students during labor lessons. The stove weighs no more than 150 grams and allows  to heat up tea or food in a few minutes in field conditions. The teacher Serhiy Marushchenko once saw such a device in a military man from the United States and improved it so that it would work effectively in our conditions. Parts from various unnecessary devices are used as material. 5-6 cones will be enough to heat up a cup of water. One and a half dozen ready-made heaters will be sent to Okhtyrka and Mykolaiv.

Chernihiv oblast

Three streets of Varvy community in Pryluky region were renamed. Now they bear the names of compatriots killed in the war. The decision was taken by the Varvy settlement council. Instead of Komarov, Gagarin and Pushkin there will be Kostyantyn Kropyva, Serhiy Bozhko and Oleksandr Liakh streets.

The city council of Ichnia reported that 55K hryvnias were collected in the region during a charity fair for fellow defenders. At the fair, local residents sold their own baked goods, handmade products, books, toys, jewelry and souvenirs. Cook and TV presenter Kostyantyn Hrubych, who came to support people, treated those who wished with Cossack kulish from the field kitchen.

An intellectual and patriotic battle was held in Chernihiv, organized by the employees of  Chernihiv City Children’s Library. This was reported in the “North” OC: servicemen took an active part in the event. At the battle, students’ knowledge of the Cossack army and the Armed Forces were assessed. At the end of the competition, the soldiers presented the children with books on the history of Ukraine, and in return received packages with trench candles from the library staff.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk,  Nikopol district was under attack. The russian occupiers hit two communities with heavy artillery and Grad MRLS. In Nikopol, almost a dozen five-story buildings and one private house, cars, a kindergarten, a pharmacy, a bank, and a hairdresser were damaged.

Power grids were affected in Marhanets communityю 10K families were left without electricity. As a result of enemy shelling, power was cut off at the pumping station, leaving about 40K households without water supply. Our defenders shot down three enemy kamikaze drones. 

In Zelenodolsk community of Kryvyi Rih, more than 40% of housing and infrastructure were damaged due to enemy shelling. Locals and utility workers are repairing the sports complex, kindergartens and houses.

Vinnytsia oblast

Lшudmila Yaremchuk, an 87-year-old woman from Vinnytsia, makes kikimoras (protective suits) for snipers and scouts. In 5 months, the woman has made more than 20 kikimoras in a volunteer center.

Nataliya Kuchma, Vinnytsia school principal, told about two and a half thousand books collected by students during the campaign “russian literature is waste paper” within a week.

Kirovohrad oblast

The director of the administrative services department of the Kropyvnytskyi City Council, head of the “Transparent Office” Administrative Services Center Oleksandr Nikitenko advised that almost 27K  “brave hryvnias” were collected for the Armed Forces in the “Transparent Office” of Kropyvnytskyi. This money was transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Poltava oblast

Dmytro Lunin, head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, informed that air defense and territorial defense forces shot down 6 UAVs. Unfortunately, four of them hit civilian infrastructure facilities. Debris fell on warehouses in Poltava, causing a fire.

Cherkasy oblast

Cherkasy war veterans started training at the sports and social rehabilitation center. It was created on the basis of the municipal sports club “Dnipro”. Defenders exercise there free of charge after serious injuries.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

In Zaporizhzhia oblast, critical, civilian and residential infrastructure objects in the regional center and in the suburbs were subjected to an armed attack. Settlements of  Polohy and Zaporizhzhia districts were also attacked. In total, the police received 29 reports of destruction.

From the very morning, the russian military launched airstrikes at the center and outskirts of Zaporizhzhia, firing with Kh-101 and S-300 missiles. After each wave of hits, fires broke out at the facilities. Most of the district of the regional center and settlements on the outskirts remained without power supply. The surrounding territory was damaged by the blast wave near the impact sites.

Law enforcement officers also recorded hits on critical infrastructure facilities in populated areas of Zaporizhzhia district. About ten houses in one of the villages of the Vilnianka community were damaged by an exploded air rocket. In addition, the populated areas of Polohy district were hit by enemy fire: houses and farm buildings were destroyed.

As of November 1, the work on eliminating the consequences of a missile attack by russian troops on energy infrastructure facilities in Zaporizhzhia, occurred on October 31, has been completed. According to the updated data, on October 31, 191 600 homes, businesses and institutions were cut off after shelling by the russian occupation forces. The energy supply in Zaporizhzhia was fully restored by the end of the day.

According to the General Staff, on October 29, the enemy’s ammunition depots in Zaporizhzhia oblast were destroyed. In addition, 5 units of military equipment were destroyed. Losses of personnel are up to 30 killed and about 100 wounded.

As a result of the explosion in temporarily occupied Berdiansk on October 31, Pavlo Ishchuk, the first deputy head of the occupiers’ “city administration for foreign policy and mass communications”, was injured. The collaborator was hospitalized. He is conscious, but his condition is assessed as serious.

On October 31, the russian occupiers announced school holidays in the temporarily occupied Melitopol and are trying to take children to the territory of Crimea, Krasnodar and other regions of the russian federation. This was reported by the mayor Ivan Fedorov.

According to Ukrainian Intelligence, the occupiers set a condition for the licensed shift workers of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant that by November 2 they must decide whether to sign or refuse the contract with rosatom. Other ZNPP employees have been given a deadline of December 1. In the near future, Ukrainian station passes will be canceled. The Intelligence also reports that EW equipment has been installed on the roof of the fifth power unit to combat aerial reconnaissance. Another occupier shift has been placed on the industrial zone of the ZNPP. The troops are scattered around the city and live in the apartments of local residents who have left.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to the “South” OC, the enemy is actively using aerial reconnaissance in order to clarify the position of our troops and adjust artillery fire. About two dozen unmanned aerial spies were recorded in Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts.

On October 31, our army aircraft accurately attacked the occupiers’ personnel buildup at an enemy stronghold near Snihurivka, Mykolaiv oblast.

At midnight, the enemy struck the center of Mykolaiv with four S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles. As a result of shelling, the buildings of the educational institution were damaged, a two-story residential building was completely destroyed, and a dozen private houses were damaged. A fire broke out in a five-story apartment building. There is destruction of a medical facility. One person was killed. The remaining losses are being clarified. The gymnasium building, damaged by shelling, is considered to be a historical and architectural monument of the city.

As a result of yesterday’s attacks on Ochakiv community, the police documented damage to two private residential buildings. Two civilians, aged 25 and 28, were killed. A 37-year-old man was injured.

According to Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, during the week from October 24 to 31, works on infrastructure restoration damaged by shelling continued in Mykolaiv city and Bashtanka, Voznesensk, and Mykolaiv districts. As of November 1, windows were covered in 73 percent of houses, and almost half of damaged roofs were repaired. In addition, two damaged parts of the heat network pipeline have been restored, and insulation work is currently underway.

Odesa oblast

The enemy naval group has significantly decreased and now consists of 6 units, which continue to hide behind the Crimean coast. Carriers of cruise missiles were not recorded on duty. The dynamics of the general situation presupposes its operational changes.

The Security Service of Ukraine detained a man in Odesa oblast suspected of preparing explosions on the railway. According to the investigation, the man collected data on transportation of military equipment, weapons and ammunition on the Odesa railway. He planned to pass this information to russian intelligence to organize explosions on the main logistics routes of the Armed Forces in the south of the country. The suspect was detained while setting up equipment for monitoring the railway. In the man’s hiding place, security forces found 11 TNT bombs and a TM-62 mine with detonators. The detainee was informed of suspicion of treason and illegal handling of weapons and explosives. He can also be charged with sabotage. A pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Soldiers from Odesa’s 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign received a batch of aid from the “Come back Alive” charity fund. The brigade was handed over 30 Starlink terminals, five DJI Mavic 3 Fly More Combo quadcopters, ten memory cards and five additional memory modules.

On November 1, three ships with 85K tons of agricultural products left the ports of Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi. Ukrainian ports accepted two tankers for loading oil for Jordan and Romania. The vessels queue in the Bosphorus awaiting inspection has shrunk from more than 170 to 147 ships for both exit and entry.

Kherson oblast

The situation in the South Buh direction is complex, but under the control of the Defense Forces. The enemy continues defensive actions and sets up new defense lines. During the night, fire damage was inflicted on our troops with the use of MLRS, barrel artillery and mortars along the entire line of combat engagement. Territorial communities of Mykolaiv, Bashtanka and Beryslav districts were also shelled.

The occupiers continue to forcibly relocate the civilian population in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson oblast. The enemy is intimidating the civilian population, spreading information about the possible undermining of the Kakhovka HPP dam. At the same time, the local population is deprived of means of communication. The russian occupation administration of Kherson was moved to the city of Skadovsk.

Tthe police opened 34 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes committed by the russian military in Kherson oblast. Shelling of settlements in Beryslav district, facts of looting in the de-occupied territories, and kidnapping of people are documented. A 19-year-old resident blew up on an anti-tank mine near the village of Olhyne, Visokopillia community.

Medical assistance to local residents was suspended in temporarily occupied Beryslav. The russians took away all medical equipment from the city’s hospitals and shut down their operations.

The russian military is taking most valuable documents of the 18th-19th centuries from the National Archive Fund of Ukraine in Kherson oblast. This is reported by the State Archives Service. The service also reports that the russian military stole documents from the archives of the courts, the city council, and the civil registration administrations in Kherson.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

In one of the medical facilities in Lutsk, a group of volunteer hairdressers organized haircuts for wounded servicemen undergoing treatment or rehabilitation. The charity event A haircut for a soldier will continue in the future, because many hairdressers in the city want to participate.

Zakarpattia oblast

Head of the RMA, Viktor Mykyta, announced that Zakarpattia mountain assault brigade sent a photo from the front line in Kherson oblast and thanked them for their help in providing high-traffic transport.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Another humanitarian aid from Poland for the military has arrived in Horodenkiv community. Ambassador of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Pavel Kukiz sent a Suzuki all-wheel drive car, sleeping bags, military uniforms, winter thermal clothing and dressing materials to the Ukrainian defenders.

A humanitarian cargo weighing 15 tons from German benefactors arrived in Ivano-Frankivsk. The aid includes medical supplies, winter clothing, ammunition for the military and rescuers and also two fully equipped ambulances.

Lviv oblast

The Lviv City Council awarded the winners of the Energy Efficient Lviv video contest. The children received valuable gifts from the Association Energy-Efficient Cities of Ukraine and the German Society for International Cooperation GIZ. As part of the competition, students shared their tips on how to save heat and electricity.

A mobile exhibition of original works by Ukrainian illustrators about the full-scale russian war and the EU aid to Ukraine was opened in downtown Lviv. The exposition is part of the All-Ukrainian communication campaign Together we are Europe”, which the European Union launched in August. The campaign aims to inform Ukrainians about comprehensive support, solidarity and assistance from the EU.

In the National Drama Theater of Lviv, a concert The first thing for Ukrainians is freedom! was held. The art project aimed to raise funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Festive events were held at the Poltviv School (Krasnen Territorial Community) to raise funds for defenders. The collected funds UAH40K were transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces.

Rivne oblast

The RMA reported that in October, 18 reports of landmines were received in Rivne oblast. And since the war began – 152.

Humanitarian aid from the Ukrainian diaspora in Toronto (Canada) to Rivne oblast has arrived. Three SUVs, wheelchairs, medical preparations and linen were delivered with the assistance of the RMA.

Volunteers, teachers, students, chefs and entrepreneurs among them, were awarded with watches from the Rivne RMA.

The humanitarian project to provide clothing for displaced children under the age of 14 is implemented by the Ministry of Reintegration together with the UNICEF Children’s Fund. As part of this initiative, 9K sets of warm clothes for children will arrive in Rivne oblast.

State archive of Rivne oblast got humanitarian cargo from Germany. With the assistance of the Martin Opitz Library in Gerne, generators, heaters, 200 archive boxes, 2K photo archive envelopes, 2 scanners and 15 fireproof pockets for documents were donated for the needs of the archive.

Ternopil oblast

On November 4, the regional digital transformation forum West Ukraine Digital will be held in Ternopil. The purpose of the forum is to develop the economy and digitization in the context of relocation of Ukrainian business, to provide effective mechanisms for implementation of digital projects, and to encourage planning of the technological future.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In Khmelnytskyi, a presentation of the war poetry collection People with verbs was held. It took place within the framework of the Literary Network project Supporting the Internal Cultural Dialogue in Ukraine, initiated by the International Literary Corporation Meridian Czernowitz. The art project is implemented with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Chernivtsi oblast

The city council reported that a gift from Metz (France) arrived in Chernivtsi. It is a low-floor accordion bus that can accommodate up to 150 people at a time.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The US 8 NASAMS systems will be transferred to Ukraine. The Pentagon reported that Ukraine will receive 2 systems in the near future. The Pentagon has taken responsibility for providing the country with countermeasures against drones, including the VAMPIRE system.

Twelve countries will supply energy equipment to Ukraine. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, Israel, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Germany, North Macedonia, Poland, the Republic of Korea, Slovakia, Slovenia, Finland and France will deliver 954 units of energy equipment to Ukraine.

Minister of Defense, Oleksiy Reznikov, announced that Ukraine and the Czech Republic are preparing over 50 projects to strengthen the Armed Forces.

European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, stated that the EU is ready to supply Ukraine with electricity in case of a shortage due to russian shelling.

The Operator of the gas transportation system of Ukraine reported that Ukraine and Slovakia extended the agreement on increased gas imports.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF Ukraine) delivered to Ukraine 2.3 million doses of mRNA vaccine against COVID-19 Comirnaty produced by Pfizer-BioNTech, which were provided by the US government as part of the COVAX initiative.

The Czech Republic supported Ukraine’s accession to NATO. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petro Fiala signed a declaration of support for Ukraine’s entry into the alliance.

In Ukraine, they plan to create Wi-Fi points in the event of a power outage, which will work on Tesla Powerwall batteries and Starlink terminals. To this end, over 1.5K Starlink terminals that Ukraine will receive from Poland will be used.

Temporary protection for Ukrainians in the EU, initiated in March 2022 for one year, was automatically extended until March 2024.

Bulgaria extended the program for accommodation of Ukrainian refugees for an unlimited period. However, refugees will move from hotels to state institutions. A 15-day deadline will be given until mid-November to relocate people.

The Football Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina refused to play a friendly match with the russian national team. Leaders of the national team, together with captain Edin Dzeko, stood up against the match. The players said that it is not possible to play with the russians while russia is at war with Ukraine.
