It has been the 437 th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

Russian troops carried out 6 missile strikes, including on the cities of Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, and Kherson. In addition, the russian federation carried out 25 airstrikes and more than 20 shelling attacks with rocket artillery systems. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Ukraine is still under the threat of missile and air strikes.

The russian army continues to concentrate on conducting offensive operations towards Bakhmut and Mariinka. Heavy fighting is taking place in the cities of Bakhmut and Marinka. Overall, the russian army carried out more than 30 attacks.

No signs of formation of russian troops have been detected towards Volyn and Polissia. In the training grounds of belarus, the preparation of russian territorial defense units continues.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas with Ukraine. Russian military carried out air strikes on the residential areas of Zarichchia, Leonivka, and Krasnyi Khutir, Chernihiv oblast. Russian soldiers also conducted mortar and artillery shelling of the populated areas of Zaliznyi Most, Leonivka, Chernihiv oblast; Rivne, Boiaro-Lezhachi, Volfyne, Sumy oblast, as well as Lemyshchene, Hraniv, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Lukyantsi, Neskuhne, Staritsia, Vovchanske Khutory, Okhrimivka, Chorne and Khatne, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, russian soldiers conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the settlement of Synkivka. Krasne Pershe, Dvorychna, Zapadne, Synkivka, Pishchane, Vyshneve, and Stelmakhivka, Kharkiv oblast were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.

Towards Lyman, the russian army is searching for weak spots in Ukrainian  defense. It carried out offensive actions towards Bilohorivka and Spivne but did not succeed. Makiiivka and Nevske, Luhansk oblast and Bilohorivka and Spivne, Donetsk oblast were shelled with artillery.

Towards Bakhmut, the russian army continues offensive actions. Fighting is raging in the city of Bakhmut. Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions towards Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Predtechyne, and New York. VeSele, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultsine, Pivdenne, Toretsk, Pivnichne, and New York, Donetsk oblast were affected by russian shelling.

Towards Avdiivka, russian troops did not carry out offensive actions. They shelled the populated areas of Berdychiv, Avdiivka, Siverske, Karlivka, Netailove, and Pervomaiske, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Mariinka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled numerous russian attacks in the area of the city of Marinka. At the same time, the populated areas of Heorhiivka and Pobieda, Donetsk oblast were shelled by the russian army.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the russian army did not carry out offensive actions for the day. They shelled Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, and Zolota Niva, Donetsk oblast.

Towards  Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the russian army continues is on the defensive actions. They shelled populated areas near the front line such as Burlatske, Vilne Pole, Novopillia, Donetsk oblast; Olhivske, Malynivka, Huliaypole, Charivne, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Kamyanske, Zaporizhzhia oblast; Zolota Balka, Antonivka in Kherson region, and the city of Kherson.

Russian troops continue to loot Ukrainian citizens and enterprises in the temporarily occupied territories. As of May 5th, in Enerhodar, there was not a single passenger car left on the territory of the “Electropivdenmontazh-10” enterprise. The warehouse was looted, and machine tools were also taken away.

There is increasingly frequent information about the low level of morale and psychological state of russian personnel. For example, russian commanders openly call subordinates “cannon fodder” in one of the units of the russian occupation forces located in the village of Mulino in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In addition, military personnel complain about unsatisfactory medical support, as well as provision of personal protective equipment and gear. About 50% of personnel do not have the opportunity to issue payment cards and are afraid that in case of their death, their money will not reach their families.

Ukrainian Aviation carried out 5 strikes on areas of buildup of russian personnel and military equipment, as well as struck the russian anti-aircraft missile system.

Ukrainian troops destroyed 4 attack UAVs “Shahed-136/131” and 2 reconnaissance drones.

Rocket and artillery units hit a command post, 3 areas of buildup of russian weapons and military equipment, as well as an artillery unit in a firing position.

The Office of the President reported that 45 defenders of “Azovstal” were freed from the russian captivity. Among them are 35 privates and sergeants, 10 officers. All of them are fighters of the “Azov” NSU who defended Mariupol.

Oleh Kotenko, the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, announced that over 7,000 people are considered missing, 15% of them are civilians. In total, since the start of the full-scale invasion, over 15,000 missing persons cases have been opened, and 8,000 people have already been found.


Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops tried to advance near Synkivka with no success. They shelled at least 18 settlements.

Serhii Lobodenko, head of the Chuhuiv Regional Military Administration reported that russian morning shelling destroyed a memorial to an L-29 aircraft in Vovchansk. It will be restored after the war is over.

Power engineers have fully restored electricity supply to Hrakove village, Chuhuiv region. The invaders destroyed more than 80% of power grids and equipment there. Therefore, after the territory was cleared of mines by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Kharkivoblenerho specialists restored 5 power substations in 4 months, installed new transformers at 3 of them, mounted more than 60 new pillars and restored more than 37 km of various types of networks.

Yesterday, the enemy continued to terrorise civilians in Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Izium and Kupiansk regions. Specifically, Vovchansk, Chervona Zoria, Udy, Veterynarne, Kozacha Lopan, Starytsia, Krasne Pershne, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Lyman Pershnyi and other settlements were under enemy attack.

Yesterday at about 5:25 pm, the enemy launched a missile attack on Chystovodivka village, Izium region. The missile hit a field near residential buildings. There were no casualties or destruction.

The enemy shelled Vovchansk twice with artillery and mortars yesterday. 7 residential buildings were damaged. There were no casualties.

Mine clearance is ongoing. Yesterday, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 11.5 hectares of territory and defused 122 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Border guards spotted russian soldiers towards Donetsk using an UAV and passed the coordinates to a mortar unit of the Defence Forces. As a result of this tandem, russian troops retreated from their previous positions with losses.

For more than two weeks, there has been no information about the only child in Avdiivka about whom the authorities had information. But law enforcement and volunteers continue to search.

Yesterday, russian forces attacked 16 cities and villages. Law enforcement officers documented 26 war crimes against civilians.

Russians launched X-22 missiles at Sloviansk and Kramatorsk yesterday. In Sloviansk, a person was injured and the building of the Zeus Ceramics plant was damaged; in Kramatorsk, the administrative building of the NKMZ, a kindergarten, 2 sports facilities and 22 apartment blocks were damaged. Druzhkivka also suffered a missile strike, damaging 6 private buildings.

Towards Donetsk, 3 people were killed in Avdiivka and 1 person injured in Kostiantynivka of Marinka community.

Towards Horlivka, 2 people were killed in Kostiantynivka community: in Kostiantynivka and Predtechyne. Two buildings in Soledar community, 6 in Toretsk community and 11 in Chasiv Yar community were damaged.

Towards Lysychansk, 5 buildings were damaged by an S-300 missile in Yampil. A burial place for a civilian killed during the occupation was discovered in Lyman.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration informed that yesterday russians killed 5 civilians: 3 in Avdiivka, 1 in Predtechyne and 1 in Kostiantynivka. In addition, the information about 1 person killed in Lyman was established. Three more people were injured.

Petro Andriushchenko, Mariupol Mayor’s Councillor said that the occupation authorities in Mariupol have started taking garbage to the ruins of the Drama Theatre. Utility workers are dumping garbage from the city’s bins on the territory of the destroyed theatre.

Luhansk oblast

Russians shelled Stelmakhivka, Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka with artillery and mortars yesterday.

Referring to the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Ukrainian citizens, who refused to receive russian passports, are being forcibly moved out of their homes by the invaders in Starobilsk. Usually, they come to the house no more than twice. On the third time, people and their belongings are forcibly thrown out into the street. The invaders are not even stopped by the fact that children may live in the house. After the displacement, such citizens are taken to filtration centres and their homes are given to russian military personnel for accommodation.

Residents of Lysychansk complain about the lack of salaries. Another promise of the occupation authorities is that the first salary in 2023 should be expected in June. Among those who have applied are utility workers and teachers.

Luhansk RMA reported that meanwhile, more and more medical workers from russia are arriving in Luhansk oblast to treat wounded enemy soldiers. For example, a delegation from Bashkortostan visited Khrustalne and doctors from Moscow oblast arrived in Luhansk. They are promised a rotation in a month, but the previous brigades have already been in frontlines for several months without replacement.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Air Force Commander Mykola Oleschuk said that a russian Kh-47 Kinzhal  missile was shot down over Kyiv during a night attack on May 4. The Kh-47 missile, launched by the MiG-31K from the territory of russia, was shot down with the help of Patriot. Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat confirmed on the air of the telethon that Ukraine has weapons capable of destroying ballistic missiles, but noted that the Patriot complexes “are not enough yet.”

The Kyiv RMA reported that a delegation of the Congress of the United States of America, which included members of the Helsinki Commission, visited Bucha. The head of the delegation, the head of the Helsinki Commission, Joe Wilson, its member Steven Cohen, and the US ambassador to the OSCE, Michael Carpenter, honored the memory of those who died in Bucha, looked at the photos taken in the city immediately after its liberation, and talked with the families who became victims of the crimes of the russians.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Kyiv with ambassadors of the United24 fundraising platform and thanked them for uniting the world to help Ukraine. The meeting took place in Kyiv, where the participants summed up the results of the first year.

The regional police chief Andrii Nebytov reported that the driver of an agricultural company was blown up by an anti-tank mine in the Kyiv oblast. On May 5, a 50-year-old driver of an agricultural company ran over a mine left during the russian occupation on the field road between the villages of Ploske and Hoholov. As a result of the explosion, the tractor driver was injured and hospitalized.

Head of the Kyiv RMA Ruslan Kravchenko said that in the city of Ukrainka, the restoration of a multi-storey building, which was damaged by a russian air attack, has started. Last week, two apartments were destroyed there due to the falling fragments of a russian missile. In the high-rise building, the damaged wall will be restored, the facade will be arranged, the floor will be repaired, double-glazed windows and window frames will be inserted.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported that In Kyiv, doctors operated on a resident of Uman who was injured by a missile attack, in which a fragment passed through the entire left hemisphere of the brain. Iryna and her mother were sleeping at home when a russian rocket hit the house next door – the shrapnel ricocheted off the wall and hit the girl. The victim was taken to the 17th hospital in Kyiv, where surgeons found the fragment under an operating X-ray and removed it with the help of a special magnet.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Energy Security Project handed over 137 generators to Kyivteploenergo for a total amount of about 40 million UAH. As reported in the utility company, generators are primarily equipped with boilers that heat hospitals, important social institutions and residential buildings. Thanks to alternative energy sources, they were able to obtain heat in autonomous mode.

The KCSA reported that the Belgian delegation, led by the mayor of Brussels, Philippe Close, visited one of the capital’s medical institutions, on the basis of which a rehabilitation center is being built for wounded Ukrainian defenders. Also, the mayors of the cities of Kyiv and Brussels started the Alley of Friends of Kyiv on the Volodymyr Hill and planted the first trees – Spanish plane trees, as a symbol of friendship and victory of Ukraine and the democratic world over russia.

The exhibition “Soledar. Salt. War” presented by photographer Oleksandr Parkhomenka and military servicewoman Iryna Rybakova. The exhibition, which highlights Soledar in peacetime and during the war, was opened in the Gallery of Protest Art of the Maidan Museum.

Zhytomyr oblast

The regional office of international cooperation was established under the regional military administration. As reported in Zhytomyr RMA, the office should become a key window for partners who are interested in cooperating at any level (oblasts, cities, villages and towns) and will ensure the coordination of international aid directly at the level of communities.

On the morning of May 5, another evacuation train arrived at the platform of Berdychiv station, bringing 13 adults, 7 children, 3 cats and a dog from Donetsk oblast. People who suffered from the war and are looking for shelter in the oblast were met by volunteers, the police, representatives of the authorities and the human rights commissioner, social services, rescuers, and psychologists.

An exhibition of paintings by the famous icon painter Yuriy Nikitin “Prayer for Protection” opened in Zhytomyr. As reported in the city council, about 30 works – works of easel painting and icon painting – are presented at the exhibition in the House of Ukrainian Culture. It is noted that the artist has been creating paintings for almost 40 years, collaborating with Christian denominations, and has a unique ability to recreate an era.

Sumy oblast

The Sumy RMA reported that the russians carried out 9 shelling of border communities, 33 explosions were recorded. Settlements of Znob-Novhorodske, Esmanske, Shalyhgine, Nova Sloboda, Yunakivka, Velika Pysarivka communities were shelled. As a result of the rocket attack, private residential buildings in the Znob-Novhorodske community were damaged.

On the night and morning of April 6, settlements of Esman, Hlukhiv, Seredina-Buda, Bilopillia, Myropillia communities came under shelling, 15 explosions were recorded.

As a result of a nighttime russian airstrike on the Hlukhiv community, five people were injured, including one minor child (12 years old), 2 were completely destroyed and 34 private houses, an educational institution and a power line were damaged. The russian military launched an attack on the city of Hluhiv from an Su-35 aircraft with two guided aerial bombs. Debris clearance and assistance to civilians are ongoing at the site.

As a result of the airstrike in Sumy oblast, damage to distribution networks was recorded – more than 1,500 consumers were left without electricity. The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that as a result of russian shelling, the network infrastructure was damaged in seven regions, due to which some consumers remain without electricity. Work on the restoration of electricity supply in these regions is being carried out in those areas where the security situation allows.

The Sumy RMA reported that among those freed from russian captivity today is a resident of the city of Sumy. The serviceman was in russian captivity before the large-scale invasion for 2.5 years, was later released from captivity and immediately returned to the unit. He was captured again at Azovstal and today, among other 45 defenders, he is returning home.

Chernihiv oblast

The SBGS reported that thirteen attacks from various types of weapons were recorded in Chernihiv oblast: 9 explosions from enemy airstrikes, 52 explosions of 120 mm caliber mines, 6 explosions from artillery shells. The border settlements of Buchky, Ivanivka, Bleshnya, Hremyach, Mykhalchyna Sloboda, Leonivka, Yanzhulivka, Zalizniy Mist, Hay were under enemy attack.

The Chernihiv RMA reported that mobile medical teams are working in remote communities of the Chernihiv oblast. Outings of medical workers are carried out at the preliminary request of heads of communities. NGO Academy of Family Medicine of Ukraine actively helps with medicines, diagnostic equipment and payment of fuel costs for medical workers’ trips.

Another universal medical vehicle has appeared in “North” Operational Command, which has everything necessary to stabilize a patient and transport him to any distance. As noted in the Operational Command, according to statistics from military practice, on average, such a car helps to save 5 lives per day. The aid came from the BEforUkraine, Technopark and Mercy and Health charitable organizations.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

The occupiers targeted MLRS and UAV attacks on Dnipropetrovsk oblast. The Air Defense Forces of Ukraine shot down 4 UAVs. The windows were broken in 5 private houses, 2 agricultural premises and electrical grids were damaged following the UAV debris fall. The enemy attacked Marhanets community with Hrad MLRS.

There were 8 attacks on the Nikopol region, seven people were injured. The enemy fired at Nikopol with Grad multiple rocket launchers and heavy artillery. Five men aged 44 to 60 were wounded. Four of them were hospitalized. In the town, 14 private houses and 13 outbuildings, gas pipelines, and an industrial enterprise were damaged. One unused building was also damaged. Three other communities in the area, Marhanets, Myrove and Pokrovsk, were shelled by heavy artillery. In the latter, a woman aged 63 was injured, she is in hospital. The building of the lyceum, half a dozen private houses, outbuildings, and power grids were damaged.

According to the head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk, in the evening, the occupiers attacked Myrove TC again with MRLS Grad. A man aged  43 was wounded. Two residential buildings, an outbuilding and a car were damaged.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​The Ladyzhyn Humanitarian Centre has fulfilled another request from the soldiers of the 21st Separate Mechanised Brigade. The soldiers received generators, gas burners, and gardening tools, which are essential in military routine. The soldiers will require the instruments to equip their future positions.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Kirovohrad oblast, two sisters, Olha and Liudmyla, joined the 121st Brigade of the Territorial Defense. They are from Holovanivsk community. Before the full-scale invasion, Olha worked as a prosecutor, and Liudmyla as a healthcare worker before retiring. Today, they serve in one battalion with their sons.

An alley of cherries was planted in the village of Dmytrivka, Kropyvnytskyi oblast, in memory of 12 fallen soldiers from the region.

Poltava oblast

According to Dmytro Lunin, head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, the representatives of the clergy, organizing committees of similar events in Ukraine and the United States, regional authorities, MPs, soldiers, and relatives of fallen soldiers took part in the Poltava Prayer Breakfast. 

According to Dmytro Lunin, head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, Poltava firefighters received a special vehicle with a 30-meter high ladder from the Association of Ukrainians in Luxembourg LUkraine A.S.B.L.  The aerial ladder can be used to reach the 10th floor for rescue and firefighting operations. 

Cherkasy oblast

On his birthday, Nazar Turchak, a 2nd grade student from Talne in Cherkasy oblast, and his mother raised funds for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Nazar recited a poem on camera and, together with his mother, posted it on social media. Thus, the boy managed to raise UAH 10,000 for the Ukrainian military.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The russian military shelled 24 localities in Zaporizhzhia oblast. They launched one missile and two air strikes, attacked twice with UAVs, three times with MLRS and used artillery 96 times. Four people were wounded.

 Gulyaypole, Zaliznychne, Stepnohirsk, and Kamianske came under enemy fire. The enemy hit residential buildings, administrative buildings and utility networks. Yesterday, russian invaders fired at one of the districts of Zaporizhzhia. The russian attack damaged the city’s civilian and residential infrastructure. A woman was injured in Yehorivka during the shelling. This was reported by the head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Yuriy Malashko. 

Russians in occupied Enerhodar are probably preparing a provocation. They spread a rumor about a complete shutdown of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. However, Energoatom denied this information. Five power units of ZNPP are currently in a state of cold shutdown, and unit 5 is in a state of hot shutdown. The plant does not generate electricity, but instead consumes it from the Ukrainian power grid to meet its own needs.

Mykolaiv oblast

The Mykolaiv RMA reported, russian occupiers fired from artillery at the waters of Ochakiv community. There were no casualties.

In Mykolaiv oblast, in the village of Novodanylivka, the parish moved from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate) to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU).

Odesa oblast

All russian Black Sea Fleet attack missile ships have returned to their bases. For the time being, there is no threat of missile strikes from the sea for Ukrainian cities, including Odesa. In total, the russian operational formation at sea consists of 6 combat units. After the last drone attack on Sevastopol, when one of the strategic “navy” oil depots in Kozachy Bay was hit, all combat-ready russian ships relocated, or rather fled, to Novorossiysk, Kerch and Feodosia.

The Main Directorate’s doctors are currently undergoing tactical medicine training in Odesa under a special NATO program. This algorithm involves acquiring basic skills in various situations. Such training allows our specialists to get the required knowledge and learn how to work in the most extreme conditions to save lives.

Kherson oblast

Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, head of the press office of the Kherson RMA, reported that russian troops shelled Beryslav. They dropped bombs near the village of Vesele, wounding a 70-year-old woman who was in her yard. She suffered a gunshot fracture of the hip, and is receiving medical care. The russian army attacked Kozatske and Dniprovsky district of Kherson. 

The Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that in the village of Vesele, a church building was destroyed and people’s homes were damaged after the shelling. In total, about 20 houses were damaged in the settlements as a result of russian air strikes.

At night, russian troops shelled Kherson with artillery. In total, 10 attacks on the territory of the Kherson community were recorded. There were hits in the Korabelny district of the city, in Molodizhne, Sadove, Blahovishchenske and Zymivnyk.

Russian occupiers fired 71 times at civilian settlements in five communities of Beryslav district. They fired 411 shells from artillery, multiple rocket launchers, mortars, drones and aircraft. An industrial facility was hit, damaging production facilities. Two people were wounded in Beryslav. The enemy attacked Kherson 11 times, firing 49 shells at the city. They hit the territory of the plant.

About 40% of subscribers have electricity in their homes.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, sappers defused 934 explosive devices in the de-occupied settlements of Kherson region. Bomb squads inspected more than eight hectares of territory and about five kilometers of power lines. 

A social route has been launched in Kherson region. The bus will run once a week on the route Klapaya – Blagodatne – Posad Pokrovske – Mykolaiv and back. Due to the russian occupiers, the residents of these settlements have been virtually isolated. The launch of the route became possible due to the support of the Humanitarian Mission Prolisok.

The russian occupiers are actively evacuating the civilian population of Ukraine from the territory of Kherson region. People are transported to Henichesk, but in fact they are being taken to Siberia. This is a hidden deportation.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The Volodymyr hospital reported that actors of the Riznobarvia theater staged the play Selfie with Sclerosis for defenders undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the hospital.

The shelters of schools in Ivanychiv region were provided with Wi-Fi routers thanks to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Nokia company and the RMA.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA held a meeting under the chairmanship of Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs, with participation of Serhii Deinek, Head of the State Border Service, Brigadier General Oleksandr Buravkov, Head of the Western Territorial Department of the National Guard, and heads of departments and regional units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. They discussed the security situation in the oblast.

The regional council of Zakarpattia reported that the delegation of the Czech region of Vysochyna handed over 6 ambulances to the communities.

In Uzhhorod, the children’s and youth military-patriotic game Falcon (Dzhura) was held for students. The event began with the National Anthem of Ukraine, in addition, a moment of silence was observed in honor of the fallen Heroes.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, on Vyichev Maidan, a children’s event Children’s patrol Unbreakable was held for the children of the city. Together with the employees of the Caritas Ivano-Frankivsk, children created pictures on the Peace and Victory of Ukraine.

Lviv oblast

Rivne oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Daniel Dragan, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Bielskoye District of the Lublin Voivodeship. Priority directions for cooperation within the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine program were discussed.

Training for medics has been launched on the basis of the Rivne Regional Hospital. The training was organized by the MedGlobal international charitable public organization and the UMANA Ukrainian Medical Association of North America. Region’s medics will improve their knowledge and skills of effective wartime methods of diagnosing injuries, stopping bleeding, and basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Ternopil oblast

The Azov military personnel received components for body armor and 17 tactical medical shoulder pads Animus-Adapt worth UAH 107K from Ternopil volunteers.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Oleksandr Symchyshyn, Mayor of announced that a DJI Mavic 3 was sent to the military. In total, over 280 DJI Mavic 3s have already been sent from Khmelnytskyi.

Chernivtsi oblast

The regional conference Barrier-free Ukraine was held in Chernivtsi. Here they presented the Barrier-Free Guide – a guide on tolerant interaction, created at the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

The RMA reported that an expert round table of the National Unity and Cohesion Platform “Chernivtsi Region in War Conditions: Sources of Stability, Challenges and Recovery Potential” was held in Bukovyna. 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Council of the EU finally approved the allocation of EUR 1 billion for ammunition for Ukraine.

Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine, announced that almost 15K Ukrainian soldiers have already been trained in Great Britain.

The Rheinmetall, German arms concern, announced the ability to produce up to 600K shells per year for Ukraine to help it defend itself against invaders.

An agreement was concluded with Canadian Cameco on the supply of uranium for Ukrainian nuclear power plants. The agreement, concluded for 12 years, provides for the supply of uranium to nine reactors controlled by Ukraine, with the possibility of supply to six reactors captured by the russians in the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia oblast.

The Fire AID non-governmental organization sent 21 fire-rescue vehicles, special fire-fighting equipment and protective clothing for the needs of the State Emergency Service. During 2022, thanks to cooperation with Fire AID, the British government and people implemented 4 convoys of humanitarian aid for Ukrainian rescuers. According to 2022 results, Fire AID was recognized as the largest charity organization in Great Britain in terms of the amount of aid given to Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with a delegation of American congressmen. They discussed assistance to Ukraine in the fight against russian occupiers.

Valery Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, held a phone conversation with General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US. They discussed the situation on the Ukrainian front.

The Berlin Administrative Court canceled the ban on the display of Ukrainian flags on May 8 and 9. Russian flags remain banned.

In the US, the Department of National Security of the Ministry of Justice began an investigation into the Binance crypto exchange. The ongoing investigation is aimed at finding out whether Binance officials violated sanctions related to russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

A memorial event Angels of Ukraine was held in Leipzig in memory of the children who were killed during the year of the full-scale russian invasion. 477 yellow and blue angels were presented at the event.

Petr Pavel, President of the Czech Republic, presented Volodymyr Zelenskyy with the legendary Czech pistol CZ 75.
