War in Ukraine today: latest news, May 31, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 462nd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian forces launched 2 missile and 22 airstrikes, fired about 20 times from multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian settlements.

There is still a high threat of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine.

The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on trying to fully occupy Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts. Ukrainian defense forces repelled 16 enemy attacks. 

Towards Volyn and Polissia, the operational situation remains stable, with no signs of offensive groups forming.

 Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the enemy continues to maintain a military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine. There were mortar and artillery attacks on the settlements of Halahanivka in Chernihiv oblast, Seredyno-Buda, Fotovyzh, Hirky, Atynske in Sumy oblast, as well as Udy, Hoptivka, Liptsi, Strilecha, Zelene, Ternova, Staritsa, Gatyshche, Vovchansk, Pletenivka, Vovchanski Khutory, Ohirtseve, Mala Vovcha, Varvarivka, Chuhunivka, Ambarne, and Hryhorivka in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives to the west of Masiutivka in Kharkiv oblast and towards Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk oblast. There were airstrikes in the areas of Kyslivka and Kotliarivka in Kharkiv oblast. Krasne Pershe, Fiholivka, Novomlynsk, Zakhidne, Masiutivka, Kyslivka, Berestove in Kharkiv oblast and Novoselivske in Luhansk oblast came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

Towards Lyman, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Bilohorivka. There were airstrikes in the areas of Terny and Siversk, Donetsk oblast. Nevske and Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast and Novosadove, Torske and Spirne in Donetsk oblast came under artillery fire.

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives against Orikhovo-Vasylivka and Bila Hora. Kramatorsk, Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Predtechine, Bila Hora, Diliivka, Zalizne and Niu York in Donetsk oblast were affected by enemy artillery fire.

The enemy did not conduct any offensive towards Avdiivka. There was an airstrike near Avdiivka, Donetsk oblast. Novokalynove, Orlivka, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Sievierne, Netailove, Karlivka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske in Donetsk oblast were shelled with artillery.

Towards Marinka, our defenders repelled all enemy attacks in the vicinity of Mariinka. The enemy also launched an airstrike there, and artillery shelling hit Kurakhove, Maksymilianivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka, Pobieda, Yelizavetivka, Katerynivka, Kostiantynivka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy launched airstrikes near Vuhledar and Prechystivka. They shelled the settlements of Bohoyavlenka, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Shakhtarske and Velyka Novosilka.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the russian military continues to conduct defensive actions. The settlements bordering the contact line, including Vremivka, Vilne Pole, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, Novopil, Temyrivka in Donetsk oblast; Olhivske, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Huliaipolske, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka and Stepove Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia oblast; Beryslav, Kozatske, Ivanivka, Antonivka, Komyshany, Dniprovske, Kizomys, Shyroka Balka in Kherson oblast and the city of Kherson were shelled.

Aviation of the defense forces conducted 9 strikes on buildups of enemy personnel and military equipment. 

Our defenders destroyed 2 enemy reconnaissance UAVs.

Rocket and artillery units hit one control center, one artillery unit at a firing position, two ammunition depots and two electronic warfare stations.

Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, says that russia changes the names and dates of birth of children illegally deported from the temporarily occupied territories. “We need to put pressure on Russia. We must find a mechanism immediately. Because every day that children stay there is a minus to their future, a loss of their identity,” she emphasized.

Denys Bashlyk, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization wants to use artificial intelligence to de-mine agricultural lands. Ukraine needs specialized equipment to accelerate the cleanup of the territories. These are high-quality modern technologies, including the use of artificial intelligence to quickly recognize potentially dangerous areas. This need is felt most of all by small agricultural producers who currently do not have the resources to demine agricultural land on their own. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that there was an unsuccessful attempted offensive by the russian federation and airstrikes on two settlements in Kharkiv oblast.

Vovchansk is under fire again. Private houses were hit. A fire broke out in the market. A civilian man in his 60s was killed. The JFO press service clarified that a 52-year-old woman was also wounded and hospitalized.

Viktor Kovalenko, Head of Zolochiv Military Administration said that a tractor exploded near the village of Karasivka, Zolochiv community, around 12:00, while working in a field. According to him, the tractor driver is alive and uninjured. The field was inspected before the work began.

There were no attacks on Kharkiv city on May 31. The enemy continued shelling civilian infrastructure and civilians in Kharkiv, Chuhuiv and Kupiansk regions.

Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region, was shelled, this resulting in damaged buildings, fires, and a wounded 72-year-old man.

The enemy struck again at the village of Kivsharivka, Kupiansk region, with two guided aerial bombs. The ground was hit. Windows in the building of an educational institution were broken. There were no large-scale destruction or casualties.

An apartment was damaged in Novoosynove village of Kupiansk region as a result of shelling. 

Mine clearance is underway. The State Emergency Service’s pyrotechnics defused 92 ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Pavel Kyrylenko, Head of Donetsk Military Administration, reports that one person was killed in the shelling of Udachna community in Donetsk oblast. Two more were wounded. The russian army fired from Iskander systems.

Towards Lyman, occupation forces have resumed assaults on Ukrainian positions in recent days. This section of the frontline remains leading in terms of the number of artillery attacks, more than half a thousand per day.

The occupiers fired at 17 cities and towns in Donetsk oblast. There were 35 attacks recorded.

Towards Donetsk, 1 person was wounded and 3 houses damaged in Ostrovske of Kurakhove community. Also, a 5-storey building and an educational institution in Hirnyk, a correctional facility in Horoshne, and an agricultural enterprise in Kurakhove were damaged. 2 people were wounded in Kostiantynivka village of Marinka community.

Towards Horlivka, 1 person was killed and 1 wounded in Chasiv Yar community. In Toretsk, 1 person was wounded, and a 9-storey building, a library, and 2 medical institutions were damaged. A house and a boiler room were damaged in Niu York. Eight private houses were damaged in Kostiantynivka, and 1 more in Maiske.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, informs that russians killed one resident in Chasiv Yar. Six more people were wounded in the oblast.

Luhansk oblast

Ukrainian defenders held off enemy attempts to attack near Novoselivske and south of Kuzmyno, near Kreminna. This time, the situation was tense both in Svatove region and near Kreminna – the enemy was attacking from two directions, yet stopped everywhere. Stelmakhivka and Bilohorivka once again withstood an airstrike. In addition to Bilohorivka, the russians have been shelling Nevske with artillery – the locals who stay there risk their lives every day, and few agree to leave.

Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported that the invaders continue to impose russian citizenship on the population in various ways. In particular, in Stanytsia Luhanska, employees of one of the public institutions were warned that only those who had re-registered with a russian bank would be able to receive their salaries in June.

Towards Lyman and Kupiansk, a russian armored personnel carrier, a self-propelled gun and an armored vehicle were destroyed.

Serhii Cherevatyi, Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, says that there were 13 combat engagements in this sector yesterday, and nine more over the last day. The enemy also carried out 12 air raids. The enemy’s attacks were stopped, and they were forced to retreat after suffering losses. 61 occupiers were killed and 59 wounded. An enemy combat vehicle, an Msta self-propelled gun and an armored vehicle were destroyed. In total, russians fired 557 times at the positions of Ukrainian defenders and settlements in these areas over the last day.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

Law enforcers have already recovered 1,376 bodies in Kyiv oblast after de-occupation. In total, 15 mass graves were discovered. According to Andrii Nebytov, Head of Kyiv Police Department, at least in three of them people were definitely tortured: they were beaten, strangled with a car cable, subjected to electric shocks, and had their joints broken with wooden sticks. He noted that the National Police has created a database with people’s testimonies about war crimes committed by russian soldiers and mercenaries who were on the territory of Ukraine.

Search and rescue operations have been completed in a high-rise building in Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv where the wreckage of a russian drone fell: 1 person killed, 4 injured, and 12 apartments damaged. According to Mayor Vitalii Klychko, Kyiv Rescue Service has finished dismantling the damaged elements, and a special commission is inspecting the damage to start restoration activities as soon as possible.

According to Kyiv City State Administration, the Havanskyi Bridge, which was closed on Monday after missile fragments fell on the roadway during a massive shelling of the capital, will be open soon. Road services have already completed repairing the damaged part of the road surface and restored the lighting network.

Police have identified russian soldiers who shot two families in Bucha with a 30mm cannon of an airborne infantry fighting vehicle. This happened when people were evacuating from the city using civilian cars. russian military convoys opened fire without warning. As a result, in one of the cars, a woman and two children were killed, and her husband was seriously injured, in another vehicle – a man was killed, while his wife and another woman sustained injuries.

The White Angels organization evacuated three orphaned children from Niu York who at the same time experienced both the loss of their relatives and massive russian attacks. Their house was damaged by a russian shell, and the children were hiding from the shelling under blankets, fearing that they would be trapped in the basement. According to the National Police, 11-year-old Yana, 9-year-old Denis and 7-year-old Anya are currently with relatives in Kyiv oblast.

Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported that a multi-storey building damaged by a russian air strike at the end of April this year has been restored in Ukrainka. Dismantling and restoration of the destroyed structures and windows were carried out, the facade renovated, and the floors repaired. Interior finishing works have been completed in the damaged apartments.

On June 9, one of the most famous Ukrainian bands, DakhaBrakha, will start a nationwide tour with a show in Kyiv. The funds raised from the ticket sales will be donated to Come Back Alive Foundation. The band performed on both Maidans, won the Shevchenko Prize in 2020, and toured the world after the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion, where they were engaged in cultural diplomacy on behalf of Ukraine.

Zhytomyr oblast

A rehabilitation centre for servicemen is planned to be opened in Zhytomyr oblast with support of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. This issue was discussed during a meeting at Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration with Robertas Gabulas, Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Ukraine.

A delegation from the Republic of Estonia visited Zhytomyr. The main areas of cooperation in educational and social spheres were discussed at the meeting in the city council. The development of vocational education and the construction of a family-type orphanage for an IDP family from Kherson were also discussed.

UAH 5 million was allocated from the community budget in Zhytomyr to replace window and door units in common areas of 170 buildings. This decision was adopted at a session of the city council. Citizens can also receive compensation for damage done to their apartments or private houses using the eVodnovnennia project in Diia app.

Sumy oblast

 On May 30, the enemy shelled border communities 9 times using artillery, mortars, and grenade launchers. In total, there were 55 explosions recorded. Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Krasnopillia, Nova Sloboda, Seredyno-Buda, and Shalyhine communities were subjected to shelling. According to Sumy Military Regional Administration, as a result of shelling in Seredino-Buda community, one five-storey and two two-storey buildings, 3 private houses and a power line were damaged, and 6 outbuildings caught fire.

At night and in the morning, the russians launched 6 mortar attacks on the border areas – there were 36 explosions. Bilopillia, Esman, Nova Sloboda, and Seredyno-Buda communities were under enemy fire.

The SES of Sumy oblast reported that as a result of hostile shelling by the hostile forces on May 30, a large-scale fire broke out in a residential area in Shostka region. Due to the prompt actions taken by the firefighters, the fire was extinguished.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Ukraine and the Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Sweden visited Sumy oblast yesterday. According to Volodymyr Artiukh, Head of the Regional Military Administration, during the meeting they discussed the assistance to be provided to the oblast regarding housing and infrastructure reconstruction. He noted that Sumy oblast is in need of such humanitarian aid, especially in border communities that are constantly under shelling.

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported yesterday that the border settlements of Yanzhulivka, Leonivka, Hirsk, and Halahanivka came under hostile fire. In total, there were six attacks in Chernihiv oblast: 28 explosions from 120-mm mortar bombs.

The enemy continues criminal tactics of shelling the Ukrainian border areas. According to the ‘North’ Operational Command, in the morning, there were 7 mortar bombs fired in the area of Halahanivka village and 3 bombs in the area of Hirky village.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that russian military blew up a road  at the border crossing of Ukraine, belarus, and russia in Chernihiv oblast. Allegedly, these measures were taken to deny Ukrainian sabotage and recognizance groups infiltration.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Regional State Administration, reported on the meeting with Etienne de Poncins, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine. He noted that with the assistance of our partners, it has already been possible to improve logistics, technical support of educational and healthcare institutions, and provide support to residents of damaged buildings in the oblast. However, during the last visit, the French delegation focused on cultural heritage sites.

Ambassadors of the UNITED24 fundraising platform, football stars Andrii Shevchenko and Oleksandr Zinchenko initiate a charity match in support of Ukraine, Game4Ukraine, to be held on 5 August in London. Its goal is to raise funds to rebuild the Mykhailo-Kotsiubynskyi Lyceum in Chernihiv oblast, destroyed by the enemy in March 2022.

Another 15 40kW generators were delivered by Rockwool for Chernihiv oblast. All generators are designed for social and critical infrastructure facilities. Chernihiv Regional State Administration reported a hundred devices of this capacity have already been delivered by Danish partners to the oblast.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Sergey Lysak, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, informs that in the morning, an explosion occurred in Mezhyritska community of Pavlohrad district. The enemy attacked a transport company. An 8-year-old boy was lightly wounded. And late last night, the russian army shelled Nikopol region. The aggressor dropped shells from a UAV on Marhanets community.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia City Council reports that students of Vinnytsia Lyceum No. 10 bought a Starlink for the military. The device and a GPS navigator were handed over to the 171st Battalion. This time, the students decided not to buy balloons, ribbons and flowers for the Last Bell ceremony and help the military instead. 

Kirovohrad oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, on the day of the last bell, students of the Naukove Lyceum came without flowers and took part in the United in the Centre of Ukraine campaign: Drones for Victory – Flowers after Victory. They raised UAH 25,500. 

Poltava oblast

Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, says that since the start of the full-scale invasion, 51 businesses have been relocated to Poltava oblast. They came from Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia oblasts and Kyiv. 

Cherkasy oblast

Igor Taburets, Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, reports that in Uman, the dismantling of emergency slabs has been completed in the building hit by a russian missile. The results of an expert examination are expected to determine whether the multi-storey building can be restored. 

Anastasia Chubina, Deputy Mayor of Cherkasy, says that a charity concert and auction was held at Cherkasy School No. 19. UAH 83,500 was raised for the Armed Forces. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On May 30, the enemy launched 69 strikes on 17 settlements in the Vasilivka and Polohy regions. Orikhiv and Zaliznychne were affected by air strikes, while Huliaipole and Mala Tokmachka were hit by four artillery shelling attacks from multiple launch rocket systems. 63 artillery strikes targeted Olhove, Novoandriivka, Huliaipilske, Malynivka, Temyrivka, Preobrazhenka, and Shcherbaky. 16 new cases of destruction were reported, including residential buildings and infrastructure objects in the front-line territory.

On May 29, a local resident of the village of Mykhailivka, Zaporizhzhia oblast, suffered facial and hand injuries due to an explosion of ammunition. He was transported to the hospital. The man found ammunition on the outskirts of the village and attempted to dismantle it at home.

Zaporizhzhia RMA reported that the curfew was extended from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM in the de-occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia oblast. 

Rafael Grossi, the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), presented a new plan to protect the temporarily occupied Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, consisting of five principles. Ukraine’s representative to the UN, Serhii Kyslytsia, emphasized that the Ukrainian side is willing to adhere to these principles, but they should be supplemented by a requirement for the complete demilitarization and de-occupation of the station.

Free medical assistance in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast can now be obtained only with medical insurance, which is impossible to obtain without a russian passport. This was announced by the mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov. As a result, the occupiers have caused queues, particularly affecting elderly people who cannot afford to pay for medical services. In addition, ambulances refuse to transport people to hospitals without a russian passport.

Mykolaiv oblast

On May 30, russian occupiers attacked Ochakiv community in Mykolaiv oblast with artillery, resulting in partial destruction and damage to residential buildings and economic structures, with no casualties reported. On May 30 at 10:00, the waters of Ochakiv community came under enemy shelling. According to Mykolaiv RMA, there were no casualties or damage reported.

The occupiers left hundreds of dangerous explosive traps while retreating from Mykolaiv oblast under pressure from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Currently, the State Emergency Service rescuers are gradually discovering such hazardous findings and urging residents to be cautious. According to Mykola Polezhaiev, Deputy Chief of the Pyrotechnic Works and Humanitarian Demining Unit, the enemy often concealed anti-personnel mines in gravel, making them difficult to detect even with specialized equipment.

The European Maritime Day was celebrated for the sixth time in Mykolaiv. This year’s event is dedicated to sustainable maritime economy and strategic priorities for Ukraine’s economic recovery.

Odesa oblast

The threat of missile strikes and kamikaze drone attacks remains high for Odesa oblast. According to the ‘South’ Operational Command, currently, there are nine enemy ships in the Black Sea, including three missile carriers (two of them being submarines), with a total salvo of up to sixteen Kalibr missiles.

The Brave1 cluster of defense technologies was presented in Odesa. The goal of the cluster’s work is to promote and support Ukrainian developers and expedite project implementation through close cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Within a month of operation, Brave1 has received over 200 applications, of which more than 50 have undergone military check, with half of them receiving high ratings and being fast-tracked for review within one month for approval by the Ministry of Defense.

German business partners are ready to invest in small Ukrainian startups with a team of 10-15 people. Priority will be given to companies that want to continue working in Ukraine and contribute to its development according to modern standards.

Bolhrad region received tablets and Chromebooks (small laptops) for students from UNICEF. The gadgets were distributed by the Department of Education and Science in accordance with previously filled forms regarding the needs of children from displaced families.

Kherson oblast

In Kherson oblast russian forces fired artillery at Shyrokа Balka during the day. A projectile hit a house, and a three-year-old child sustained a head injury. The girl was hospitalized in a moderate condition in Kherson. She has a closed head injury and injuries to the back of her head.

On May 30, russian occupiers shelled peaceful settlements in Kherson oblast 49 times, firing 219 projectiles from artillery, multiple rocket launch systems, mortars, tanks, drones, and aircraft. The enemy attacked Kherson twice, firing five projectiles at the city. As a result of russian aggression, five people were injured.

The police opened 35 criminal cases regarding war crimes committed by russian occupiers. The police received a report that russian military personnel stole a local resident’s hunting weapon in one of the settlements of the temporarily occupied Novotroitske community. A 27-year-old fisherman stepped on an anti-personnel mine left by enemy forces on the banks of the Ingulets River in the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka. As a result of the explosion, the man lost part of his foot.

According to the ‘South’ Operational Command, the situation in their area of responsibility remains tense but controlled. The defense forces in the south continue their counter-battery fight. Our missile and artillery units destroyed 11 invaders, a self-propelled howitzer Msta-S, a large-caliber D-30 gun, a small motorboat, and three units of automotive equipment. The confirmed losses of the enemy in the past two days amount to 33 invaders, two units of armored vehicles, and a field supply point.

Kherson RMA reported the distribution of humanitarian aid to residents of Kherson oblast. Yesterday, residents of liberated territories received 523 food packages, 3,240 loaves of bread, 6,408 cans of preserves, 650 portions of lunch, and 3,384 liters of water. Also 143 OSB (oriented strand board) sheets, 488 hygiene kits, 361 repair kits, and two construction kits were provided to the people. The Norwegian charity organization Norsk Ukrainesk brann- og ambulansestøtte (NUBAS) donated a new specialized vehicle, a Mercedes, to the fire brigade in Liubymivka. Thanks to the International Committee of the Red Cross, 287 beds, 11 nursing tables for manipulations, 210 blankets, 11 modern infusion pumps, and a monthly supply of medicines and medical materials were delivered to hospitals in the de-occupied territory of Kherson oblast.

Posad-Pokrovske in Kherson oblast will become the first settlement where independent power supply internet networks will be launched. The Ministry of Digital Transformation, together with Nokia, is launching a pilot project to upgrade telecom equipment. After the pilot project, the initiative will be scaled to other regions affected by russian shelling.

Police officers and rescuers organized a festive event dedicated to Children’s Day for children in Velyka Oleksandrivka. After the de-occupation of Velyka Oleksandrivka and the shelling of the settlement, this is the first festive event where children and their parents were able to gather at a crowded event, communicate, and enjoy themselves without fear of enemy shells.

Volyn oblast

The RMA reported that the Volunteer Action CF sent the EcoFlow portable charging station to the military from Volyn.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA, Korosten MDF Plant, the Ukrainian Holding Sawmill Company and Bativsk community laid a symbolic capsule for the construction of  – the BF TERMINAL production and transshipment complex, one of the largest enterprises in Ukraine’s woodworking industry . In the near future, it will form a new cluster in the oblast and give a powerful impetus to the development of communities.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The 1241th Military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine received humanitarian aid, namely, the EkoFlow charging station, chainsaws, car spare parts, work tools, a quadcopter and multimedia equipment, worth almost UAH 1.5 million from the RMA.

The 78th battalion of the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade received a car adapted for evacuation, equipped with a special chair-bed, tubes for supplying oxygen from Germany.

The RMA reported that the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received two repaired GAZ 66 cars. The cost of repairing one car is almost UAH 150 K.

In Kalush region, a master class on modern coffee-art was held for IDP children. Children tried several original techniques of drawing with coffee, they had the opportunity to feel like real artists and embodied their vivid fantasies and ideas in drawings.

Lviv oblast

Yavoriv community sent humanitarian aid, namely, a truck filled with long-term food, hygiene products, and medicines, to the residents of Kupiansk region (Kharkiv oblast) thanks to the Kormil NGO.

The RMA reported that in the village of Pidhirne, Lviv region, the Step to Victory charity concert raised UAH 55K for the soldiers of the community.

On the facade of the school in the village of Stanislavchyk, Zolochiv region, a commemorative plaque was installed to Hero-border guard Ihor Yasinskyi. He was killed in heavy fighting in Donetsk oblast on March 4, 2022. For his heroism, he was posthumously awarded with the 3rd For Courage Order.

Lviv RMA and USAID are working on the appearance of Made in Ukraine shelves with Ukrainian products in  stores and supermarkets in the US. Within the framework of the USAID program, the mentoring support program has been launched to help companies prepare for market requirements, conduct successful negotiations with potential customers and consulting to ensure successful negotiations and participation in U.S.trade fairs.

Claudia Pfeil, famous German artist, sewed and delivered 200 blankets to Ukraine. They will be distributed to children who live in family-type children’s homes in Lviv community.

The Sikhiv Media publication reported that Victor Petrov, soldier, journalist and activist from Lviv, was killed at the front. He was a member of the ISI team, the founder of WHAT IF creative studio and What If Creative School.

Rivne oblast

Vitaliy Koval, Head of Rivne RMA, announced that almost 60 cars, 3.7K liters of diesel fuel, 23K packs of cigarettes, 765 m3 of wood and 332 logs of wood were sent for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. All this was seized during the pre-trial investigation of criminal proceedings.

The RMA reported that psychosocial support centers will operate in each region of Rivne oblast.

Ternopil oblast

Decommunization is being carried out in Pidhaitsi community. They decided to rename 6 streets there.

On the occasion of Embroidery Day, over 300 students and employees from Ternopil National Pedagogical University named after Volodymyr Hnatiuk set a record. They formed the inscription “ZSU” in embroidered shirts, as a manifestation of great gratitude to our Heroes.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A Mitsubishi L200 car was sent to one of the territorial defense battalions thanks to the Protect Khmelnytskyi organization.

Chernivtsi oblast

An Office of Social Support for Servicemen and their Family Members will be opened in Bukovyna. This was discussed during the meeting in the RMA.

A master class on making a patriotic bracelet was held in Chernivtsi. This event is part of a series of art therapy master classes supported by the Program for Ukraine on empowerment at the local level, accountability and development U-LEAD with Europe.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Oleksii Reznikov, Minister of Defense of Ukraine, announced that Ukraine has already received about 60 Leopard 2 tanks from the allies. According to him, the tank coalition includes Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal, Spain and Canada.

Italy is preparing a new package of military aid to Ukraine. At the same time, the content of his speech and what kind of weapons Kyiv will receive from Rome are classified.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the Defense Forces of Ukraine will receive the CV-90 BMP from Swedish partners. Armored vehicles are in service with a number of NATO member states. Ukrainian crews are already completing training to master them.

Raphael Grossi presented to the UN Security Council an updated plan for the protection of the russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP. The Director General of the IAEA announced that the plan is a set of principles that he agreed upon during numerous meetings with the leadership of Ukraine and russia after his visit to the ZANP in September 2022.

Ursula von der Leyen, Head of the European Commission, called on everyone who can to provide long-range weapons to Ukraine. She also emphasized that support is also necessary for the combat training of the Ukrainian army.

Andrzej Duda, Polish President, stated that they help the Ukrainians because they remember what russian imperialism is.

Rishi Sunak, British Prime Minister, will make his first official visit to Washington since becoming Prime Minister in October. During the meeting, among other things, leaders of the countries will have the opportunity to discuss support for Ukraine.

“Of course, it (Ukraine, – ed.) has the legal right to do this within its borders, but it also has the right to use force outside its borders to undermine russia’s ability to project force in Ukraine itself,” said James Cleverly, Foreign Minister Great Britain. He noted that Ukraine’s legitimate military goals abroad are part of its self-defense.

The Ministry of Development, Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine reported that Ukrzaliznytsia will take part in the reconstruction by Moldova of the railway section on the transport corridor to the port of Reni.
