War in Ukraine today: latest news, May 3, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 434th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

On May 2, the enemy launched another massive attack on the territory of our country using Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. 21 out of 26 of these drones were destroyed by our defenders.  

In total, the enemy launched 2 missile and 41 air strikes, conducted about 25 MLRS attacks at the positions of our troops and populated areas. Civilians were injured, private houses and other civilian infrastructure destroyed and damaged.

There remains a high threat of missile and air strikes across Ukraine.

The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive operations against Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka, where Ukrainian defense forces repelled about 30 attacks over the last day. The fiercest fighting is taking place for Bakhmut and Marinka.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, there are no signs of enemy offensive groups detected. Training of personnel of the russian territorial troops continues at the training grounds of the republic of belarus.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the enemy maintains a military presence in the areas bordering Ukraine. During the day, they fired artillery and mortar shells at the settlements of Buchky, Chernihiv oblast; Basivka, Yunakivka, and Zapsillia in Sumy oblast, as well as Sotnytskyi Kozachok, Huriev Kozachok, Baranivka, Chervona Zorya, Strilecha, Hatyshche, Vovchanski Khutory, and Mykolaivka in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy did not conduct any offensive. Topoli, Kamianka, Fiholivka, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Lyman Pervyi, Kyslivka, Krokhmalne, Berestove in Kharkiv oblast came under enemy artillery and mortar fire. 

Towards Liman, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Bilohorivka, looking for weaknesses in our defense. Makiivka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast and Torske, Verkhnekamianske and Spirne in Donetsk oblast came under artillery fire.

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy continues to conduct offensive actions.  Fighting continues in the town of Bakhmut. The occupiers’ attacks towards Niu York were unsuccessful. The enemy shelling affected Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, Pivnichne and Pivdenne, and Niu York in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Avdiivka, the enemy conducted offensive actions in the vicinity of Sievierne in Donetsk oblast, but was unsuccessful. They also shelled Novokalynove, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Karlivka, Netailove and Pervomaiske.

Towards Mariinka, the enemy is trying to improve the tactical situation. During the day, our defenders repelled numerous attacks near Marinka and Novomykhailivka. In addition, Krasnohorivka, Donetsk oblast, came under enemy fire.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy fired at Vuhledar, Bohoiavlenka, Novoukrainka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva and Shakhtarske in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the occupiers are on the defensive. Vremivka, Novosilka and Novopil in Donetsk oblast; Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia oblast; Kapulivka in Dnipropetrovsk oblast; Antonivka and the city of Kherson were shelled.

In order to somehow protect its personnel from fire from the Ukrainian defense forces, the enemy continues to cynically use the local population in the temporarily occupied territories. In the settlements of Kakhovka region, russian invaders are deploying their units among private houses of local residents.

Aviation of the Defense Forces carried out 3 strikes on buildups of enemy personnel. 

In addition, our defenders destroyed 5 reconnaissance UAVs of various types and one Lancet barrage munition.

Rocket and artillery units hit a buildup of enemy manpower and an ammunition depot.


Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation, informs that NABU and the Ministry of Digital Transformation signed a memorandum of cooperation. Such cooperation will help save the state more money and accelerate digitalization of public services.

Oleksandr Tkachenko, Chairman of the ICIP,says that a third of the Lavra’s buildings, which housed the UOC-MP, were returned. In the last two days alone, the Commission has transferred 16 buildings-monuments of both national and local significance to the reserve. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that at least 17 settlements in Kharkiv oblast came under russian artillery and mortar fire. 

The State Emergency Service reported that a 58-year-old tractor driver hit an anti-tank mine on a dirt road in a field near the village of Pohonivka, Barvinkivka community. The wounded man is being treated.

In Slatyne, Derhachi community, 210 houses were destroyed by shelling, and about 1200 more damaged. Residents of the village who have nowhere to live have moved to sanatoriums and rest homes.

In Kharkiv, exhibitions with russian equipment were set up near the ring road towards Rohan and Pisochyn. Damaged russian tanks, MT-LBs, armored personnel carriers, armored personnel carriers Sturm, infantry fighting vehicles from Kharkiv oblast where the fighting was going on are on display. 

The enemy fired at civilians and civilian infrastructure in Kharkiv, Chuhuiv, Kupiansk and Bohodukhiv regions.

In the village of Huriv Kozachok, Bohodukhiv region, the premises of an agricultural enterprise were damaged as a result of shelling from an MLRS. The shelling of Vilkhuvatka village in Kupiansk region damaged two apartment buildings and at least three private houses. In Petropavlivka village, Kupiansk region, a 73-year-old woman was wounded and hospitalized due to the shelling. Two residential buildings were damaged in the village. In Bochkove village, Chuhuiv region, a private household was also damaged.

Demining operations continue. During the day, SES pyrotechnics inspected more than 16 hectares of territory and defused 346 ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

The situation towards Bakhmut remains one of the most difficult on the frontlines, but still controlled by the Defense Forces. Over 200 occupiers were eliminated. A Buk missile system, 3 cannons, one Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system and two ammunition depots of the russian army were destroyed.

Towards Lyman and Kupiansk, russian troops fired 565 times at the positions of the Defense Forces. In one day, the russians lost almost 150 soldiers, a T-72 tank and two BMP-1s.

According to Roman Hryshchenko, Commander of the 127th TrO Brigade, the russian army tried to kill the commander of the Territorial Defense Forces, Ihor Tantsiura, when he was visiting the units in Bakhmut. Despite the attempts, Major General Tantsiura is unharmed.

The press service of Donetsk regional prosecutor’s office reported that russian troops shelled Kostiantynivka, Toretsk, Chasiv Yar, as well as settlements of Zarichne, Velyka Novosilka and Novoukrainka. Two men were killed as a result of the shelling: one in Zarichne village of Lyman community and the other in Velyka Novosilka village of Volnovakha region.

Vitalii Barabash, Head of the Avdiivka city military administration, says that russians also fired four times at Avdiivka. Avdiivka Coke Plant was shelled twice. Two people were wounded during the shelling. 

Over the past day, russian forces lost almost two companies of soldiers and 14 pieces of various equipment towards Avdiivka and Marinka.

Russian troops shelled 11 settlements, damaging 38 civilian objects. 

In the middle of the night, russians attacked Kostiantynivka with kamikaze drones. Also during the day, the city came under shelling – 1 person was wounded, 2 infrastructure facilities, 5 multi-storey buildings and 7 private houses damaged.

Towards Volnovakha, Novoukrainka was damaged by Grad fire. A private house was damaged.

Towards Donetsk, the enemy fired twice at Kurakhove community – 1 person was wounded in Hannivka. Sporadic shelling of Avdiivka and the outskirts of Ocheretyne community was recorded.

Towards Horlivka, an infrastructure facility in  Pivnichne, Toretsk community was damaged. During the day, villages in Soledar community were shelled.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, Head of the Donetsk Military Administration, reports that over the past day, russians wounded three residents of in Kostiantynivka, Avdiivka and Hannivka.

Luhansk oblast

This enemy focused its offensive south of Dibrova, but once again failed. Russian forces were firing on Makiivka and Bilohorivka. During the defense, the enemy repeatedly tried to launch a massive offensive in this area of the front, but all these attempts were stopped either by our artillery or by counterattacks. The Ukrainian military is ready at any moment to counteract the russians’ aggressive plans. 

 Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported that life in Lysychansk, Sievierodonetsk and Rubizhne came to a standstill as these cities were captured. While in Sievierodonetsk the occupation authorities organized at least demonstrative works for propaganda, in the neighboring towns the remaining residents have not seen any works done for almost a year.

Deserters from the so-called “luhansk people’s republic” are being searched for near their homes. There are numerous wanted notices on poles and bulletin boards in the cities captured in 2014, as desertion has become widespread.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

At night, the enemy attacked the capital with Shahed drones. According to Kyiv City Military Administration, all enemy targets were detected and destroyed in the airspace around Kyiv. This is the third attack on Kyiv in the last 6 days.

On April 2nd, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Augusto Santos Silva, Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament – the Assembly of the Republic –  who arrived in Kyiv on a visit as the head of the parliamentary delegation. They discussed cooperation between the countries on the path of Ukraine’s integration into the EU, expectations from the NATO summit to be held in July, the needs of Ukrainian defenders and the peace formula.

The journalists of the Schemes program have published an investigative film ” Vira” on the anniversary of the death of producer and journalist Vira Hyrych, who was killed on April 28, 2022, in her apartment in Kyiv as a result of the russian missile attack. In particular, the crew found out from which airfield the aircraft took off, its model, the type of missile launched, its flight route, and the names of russian commanders and employees of the main computer center of the russian armed forces involved in the attack.

Free dental care for military personnel is provided in Kyiv oblast as part of a pilot project. According to Kyiv Regional Military Administration, as of May 1, 16 clinics in the oblast have joined the Memorandum of Understanding on providing dental care to military personnel. Since the beginning of the project, 751 servicemen have been treated.

The research project The Impact of War on Youth in Ukraine was presented  in Kyiv. It was prepared by the Cedos Analytical Center and Info Sapiens Research Agency on the initiative, technical and organizational support of the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine, the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

As of early May, more than 3.6 million people are living in the capital. This is 300 thousand less than before February 24, 2022. According to Kyiv City State Administration, in March 2022, the lowest number of people in the capital was recorded – 1.3 million people.

Kyiv hotline received 1,305 calls in April. The most common complaints include loss of the ability to fend for oneself, quarrels with children, crises in family relationships and divorce, experiences of shelling, phantom sounds of explosions, and panic attacks.Many also ask about overcoming the fear of death, the fear of losing family members, the fear of being occupied again.

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr oblast will receive UAH 45 million from the state budget to construct and repair shelters in educational institutions. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the procedure and conditions for granting subventions from the state budget to local budgets for the arrangement of safe conditions in general secondary education institutions. Also, UAH 47.5 million will be allocated for the oblast to purchase school buses.

In Zhytomyr oblast, the Recovery Army project has engaged 161 residents and unemployed IDPs in community service. Ukrainians from 20 territorial communities of Zhytomyr oblast have made their contribution to the Victory.

The oblast received 200 routers as part of cooperation between the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Nokia. The routers will be used to set up an Internet network in the shelters of social institutions, which will provide uninterrupted and free access to the Internet. In total, 159 social institutions in more than 40 territorial communities of the oblast will get Internet access from the international company.

Ukraine’s fourth educational space CoAction for Children was opened in Zhytomyr oblast. In the new friendly environment opened in Zhytomyr Regional Center for Children and Youth Creativity, children will be able to receive necessary psycho-emotional support through engaging non-formal education programs.

Sumy oblast

 According to Sumy Regional Military Administration, over the past 24 hours, on May 2, the russians shelled the border communities 19 times. Bilopillia, Yunakivka, Vorozhba, Miropillia, Seredyno-Buda, Hlukhiv, Znob-Novhorodske, Shalyhine, Esman, Velyka Pysarivska, and Nova Sloboda were shelled. There were 112 explosions recorded. The enemy applied artillery and mortar fire, and dropped explosives from UAVs.

As a result of airstrikes on Seredyno-Buda, an educational institution, 8 private residential buildings, 2 apartment buildings, a shop, and a power line were damaged. As a result of hostile shelling, an agricultural enterprise building and a car in the Yunakivka community, a shop and a private house in Velyka Pysarivka community, a non-residential building of one of the enterprises of Hlukhiv community, a farm where calves were kept, and a sawmill in Znob-Novhorodske community were damaged.

During the night, the russians carried out an airstrike with two KAB bombs on an educational institution and a company in the village of Svesa. In the morning, the enemy opened mortar fire on Nova Sloboda community – there were 7 explosions. The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that there were around 19 mortar bombs fired in the area of Nova Vasylivka and Chervone.

Ukrenergo reported that one of the distribution power grid facilities was destroyed by two air bombs in Sumy oblast. More than 4 thousand consumers were left without electricity. The company noted that distribution grids were also damaged in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk oblasts. As of May 3, power generation is sufficient to cover the consumption needs.

Sumy Regional State Administration reported that a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by regional officials with the Swiss-Ukrainian project UCORDO. This document is intended to direct the efforts of all parties to strengthen the capacity of the Sumy Regional Development Agency, to intensify its role in community recovery and planning of local and regional development projects.

Chernihiv oblast

According to the State Border Guard Service, in Chernihiv oblast, a total of twenty attacks from various types of weapons were recorded over the past day and night: three aerial bombs were launched from an enemy aircraft, one missile from a helicopter, 21 MLRS rockets, 41 120-mm mortar bombs, and 64 artillery shells.

The border settlements of Arkhipivka, Leonivka, Mykolaivka, Gasychivka, Halahanivka, Bleshnya, Tymonovychi, Yanzhulivka, Karpovychi, Krasnyi Khutir, Buda-Vorobiivka, Girsk, Semenivka, Zaliznyi Mist, Khotiivka came under enemy fire.

Ivan Vashchenko, Head of Koryukivka regional administration, reports that seven residential buildings and an outbuilding were damaged as a result of shelling in the village of Hirsk of Snovsk community on May 2. One outbuilding was completely destroyed by a fire caused by shelling. According to him, restoration of the damaged power lines is being carried out and rescuers are working at the scene.

Chernihivoblenergo reported that six settlements of Semenivka and Novhorod-Siversk communities remain without electricity. In total, 518 consumers are left without power. According to the report, these power lines are located in the border area under constant shelling. Their restoration will begin after receiving permission from the military.

The SES of the oblast reported that during the day, sappers seized 33 explosive devices and carried out 6 cleaning tasks in the settlements of Chernihiv oblast.

Chernihiv oblast received four school buses from the French government to serve three communities and a patriotic education center. According to Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, the transport was sent to Bakhmach, Yablunivka and Ponornytsia communities.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Mykola Lukashuk, Head of the regional council,  the russians launched several drone attacks on Dnipro oblast at night, damaging an administrative building in Dnipro. Also at night, defenders from the ‘East’ Air Command shot down 7 enemy drones over Dnipro oblast. The occupiers’ heavy artillery shelled Nikopol region twice over the day. A woman aged 86 was injured in Nikopol. A private house caught fire as a result of shelling. The fire has already been extinguished. Two outbuildings were destroyed and nine others damaged. The buildings of two medical institutions, thirteen private houses, several cars, more than two dozen solar panels and power lines were also damaged.

Relying on the information provided by the ‘East’ Air Command, a Kartograf drone was destroyed in Mykolaivka region. 

Vinnytsia oblast

Yevheniia Kachurenko, the initiator of the eco-house and director of the Bushanska Toloka NGO, said that a two-story eco-house with a total area of 442 m² is being built for internally displaced people in the village of Sloboda-Bushanska in Vinnytsia Oblast. The house will be used as a temporary shelter for women with children, and after the war as a rehabilitation, educational and cultural space. 

Thanks to a joint initiative of the MHP-Hromadi Charitable Foundation and Ivan Lenio, leader of the rock band KOZAK SYSTEM, Vinnytsia brigades received 12 brand new pick-up trucks to perform combat missions at the frontline.

Kirovohrad oblast

According to Andrii Raikovych, Head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration,  at about 3 am, 3 Geranium-2 shahids attacked an oil depot in the oblast. 

Poltava oblast

Residents of Pishchane community collected and delivered humanitarian aid for the defenders at the frontline. They bought the most necessary things for the military, namely long-term storage products, biscuits, sweets, and instant soups. The humanitarian aid was complemented with fruit, hygiene items, and children’s drawings.

Cherkasy oblast

A charity exhibition has opened at the Cherkasy Museum of Local Lore, featuring painted UAVs, human-sized rag dolls, paintings and shells.  The aim of the exhibition is to raise funds for the production of UAVs and family-type houses.

According to Ihor Taburets, Head of Cherkasy State Administration, 41 enterprises have been relocated to Cherkasy oblast since the beginning of russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. 31 of them are currently operating.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

On May 3, the russian army once again launched a missile strike on Zaporizhzhia. As a result of the russian shelling, one building was completely destroyed, two more heavily damaged, with 40 windows shattered and roofs damaged.

On May 2, the enemy carried out 82 attacks on peaceful settlements of the oblast, including 2 missile, 3 air, 4 drone, and 69 artillery strikes. The russians shelled Zaporizhzhia, as well as settlements in Polohy and Vasylivka regions. Police have recorded 29 reports of destruction.

Russian military personnel are stopping residents in the temporarily occupied city of Berdiansk to check their documents and are tearing up their Ukrainian passports. This forces the residents of Berdiansk to take russian passports. This information was confirmed by Viktoriya Halitsyna, Head of Berdiansk city military administration. There are known to be two such cases.

Mykolaiv oblast

At 03:50 a private house caught fire as a result of a Shahed-131/136 drone attack in the village of Kutsurub. The fire was promptly extinguished by the subdivision of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv oblast. There were no casualties. According to Mykolaiv RMA, the second kamikaze drone aimed at Mykolaiv was destroyed by the Defense Forces.

Representatives of the charitable foundation Vozko supported by international donors from Uzbekistan and Germany, handed over a Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck. It will be sent to the military unit of Major General Dmytro Marchenko.

A passenger train from Kherson to Lviv, which was shelled in Kherson, arrived in Mykolaiv. The damaged carriage has already been replaced.

Odesa oblast

According to the ‘South’ Operational Command, the threat of enemy missile strikes and drone attacks remains very high for Odesa oblast. As of May 3, there are 5 ships in the Black Sea, including 1 large landing ship. All missile carriers are in their bases. The naval group maneuvers near the coast of the russian federation and southeastern Crimea. 

Norway has donated three special vehicles to the emergency services of Odesa and Kherson State Emergency Service. This aid became possible due to Odesa regional association of evangelical Christian Baptists, which helped purchase equipment through charitable foundations. Colleagues from Norway, in turn, took the initiative to help not only Odesa rescuers but also those in Kherson.

Vyzyrka community in Odesa oblast has received three powerful industrial generators from the USAID Hoverla project.

Today, a Charity Fair Pastry Day was held in Bolhrad to support the 88th Separate Marine Infantry Battalion. Local confectioners prepared tasty treats for the participants of the event. There was also a lottery, which gave everyone the opportunity to contribute to the fundraising. The money raised from the sales of products in the amount of UAH 42,550 will be directed to help the marines.

Kherson oblast

On May 3, russian forces attacked the city of Kherson and the oblast, including the railway station and a hypermarket. Three people were killed and four others injured in the morning shelling of the “Epicenter” hypermarket in Kherson. One person was killed and three others injured in another attack on the railway station. Ukrzaliznytsia reported that a passenger car was hit and the conductor was injured. Later, russian forces attacked the area near an ATB supermarket, leaving one person injured. They also targeted a kindergarten, but no casualties were reported. Also, the russians killed three energy workers who were performing emergency repairs near the village of Stepanivka. The enemy shelled Mykhailivka, Havryllivka, and Tiahynka. One person was killed in Tokarivka and another injured in Ivanivka as a result of russian shelling. The russians even targeted an ambulance, with three people reportedly injured. As of 7:00 pm, the attacks in Kherson oblast have left 17 people killed and 45 injured, including two children.

On May 2, russian occupiers shelled peaceful settlements in Kherson oblast 106 times. They fired 485 shells from artillery, MLRS, mortars, tanks, drones, and aircraft. Kherson was attacked 9 times, with 33 shells fired. Four people were killed and seven were injured, including a 17-year-old boy. The police opened 25 criminal proceedings regarding the war crimes committed by the russian army in Kherson oblast.

russian occupiers continue to carry out forced passportization of the population in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast. To expedite the process, aggressors conduct demonstrative raid events aimed at intimidating the local population with the possibility of deportation and property alienation. Usually, a column of empty buses accompanied by representatives of the FSB arrives in the settlement. According to the presidential decree of the russian federation on deportation of persons without russian citizenship from the occupied territories, they impose a radical condition on people: either give up their Ukrainian passport in favor of the russian one, or be immediately evicted with confiscation of property.

The South Defense Forces destroyed four russian drones in the Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. The mobile fire groups of the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi radio-technical brigade and the Kherson anti-aircraft missile brigade destroyed two strike “Lancets”, one “Merlin-VR”, and one operational-tactical level UAV.

During the execution of nearly 100 firing tasks, our aviation and rocket-artillery units inflicted damage on enemy personnel and equipment buildups on the Dnipro left bank. The confirmed losses of the enemy are 25 occupiers, 2 mortars, an UAV-reconnaissance vehicle, a large-caliber Hyacinth-B gun, an automatic complex of far visual observation “Murmansk-M”, and 3 units of automotive equipment.

A curfew will be imposed from Friday to Monday in Kherson city. It will last for 58 hours, from 20:00, May 5 to 06:00, May 8. Such restrictions are necessary to ensure residents’ safety and maintain public order. During the curfew, it is prohibited to move and be present on the streets of the city. Also, the city will be closed for entry and exit.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Volunteers from the Republic of Latvia, Aigars Loss, Arthurs Christliebs and Maris Liop, were awarded with the President of Ukraine’s For the Defense of Ukraine awards and diplomas for volunteering.

An updated border unit was opened in Volyn. RMA representatives handed over four all-terrain vehicles to the unit.

Ihor Polishchuk, Lutsk Mayor, held a video conversation with Sebastian Remele, Mayor of the German city of Schweinfurt. The city of Schweinfurt is preparing to send a garbage truck to Lutsk.

Zakarpattia oblast

The construction of 12 modular houses for the needs of IDPs has been completed in the village of Serednie with the expense of the Caritas of the Czech Republic CF. The building should be put into operation at the end of May this year.

The RMA held a meeting with Robert Laimer,Deputy of the National Council of Austria, spokesman for the defense of the faction of the Social Democratic Party. They discussed the security situation, issues of support for IDPs and promising projects.

The RMA reported that in Zakarpattia oblast, the first 460 high school students studied fire training.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

RMA representatives took part in the online discussion of the program “Ukrainian-Romanian Border: Activation after Stagnation” organized by the Europe Without Barriers NGO with the support of the Renaissance international foundation.

The Verkhovyna Hospital received personal hygiene items, medical supplies and baby food from Canadian benefactors.

The Care for the Hero’s Family social project was launched in the oblast. Within the scope of the project, the children of Heroes, together with their mothers, will rest and recover in the institutions of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast.

Lviv oblast

The oblast received 3 vehicles to help victims of gender-based violence from UNFPA.

The RMA reported that the Lviv IT Cluster sent 75 Starlink terminals for the needs of Ukrainian defenders.

Rivne oblast

The RMA held a meeting with Belaf Balisany, Head of the sub-delegation, and representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine. They discussed support for families whose members are in captivity of war.

In two months, at the training center of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Rivne oblast, three groups of fighters (103 people, including 4 women) passed all stages of selection and got into the paramilitary police unit of the Liut new model.

The Cozachok children’s ensemble of the cultural center of the village Zdovbytsia gives charity concerts in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The team has already collected almost UAH 35K. The young musicians have already donated part of the funds for a thermal imager for a military man from the village of Uizdtsi.

Ternopil oblast

Serhiy Nadal, Mayor of Ternopil, reported that from the city, four DJI MAVIC 3T quadcopters were sent to defenders at the front.

The Ternopil duo TVORCHI went by train to the British Liverpool to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision 2023 international competition.

A charity music marathon was held in Shumsk. Over UAH 19K collected were donated to the needs of the military.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

RMA representatives visited a hostel in the village of Shydlivtsi, Chemerov community,  and inspected the living conditions of IDPs. During 2022, 12 areas of compact settlement of IDPs were created in the community. 4,5K people found refuge there during the full-scale war.

The wife of the fallen hero Oleksii Khyzhniak gave birth to a son. RMA representatives together with military commanders congratulated the mother and the newborn.

Chernivtsi oblast

Military personnel on the front lines will receive a vehicle equipped with a night vision system from benefactors of Bukovyna.

The RMA reported that a religious community of Bukovyna officially transferred from the UOC (moscow patriarchate) to the OCU.

The European Commission approved EUR 500 million to produce projectiles and missiles for Ukraine. This plan will facilitate the de-conservation of member states’ stockpiles and the joint procurement of ammunition.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Augusto Santos Silva, Speaker of the Parliament of Portugal. They discussed cooperation on the path of Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and NATO and the priority needs of Ukrainian defenders.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with Azali Assoumani, President of the Union of Comoros Islands. This is the first contact between states in the history of relations.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is visiting Finland. The President of Ukraine met with his colleague Sauli Niinisto, with the prime ministers of the countries of Northern Europe. They discussed defense support, bilateral relations and the global geopolitical situation.

The President of Finland announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine. “We support and will continue to support your country. The 15th aid package is already being prepared, and I am absolutely sure that there will be the next 16th as well,” said Sauli Niinisto.

USAID AGRO increases the financial support budget almost twice (from UAH 185 million to UAH 380 million) for the expansion of elevator capacities for grain storage and drying.

The United Kingdom did not send invitations to the coronation ceremony of King Charles to the leaders of seven countries, including russia and belarus.

This year’s largest military exercises under Anakonda-23 started in Poland. They are attended by 12K Polish soldiers, as well as several hundred soldiers from the USA, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Turkey. The purpose of the exercises is to practice the defense of NATO’s eastern flank. During the exercises, special attention is planned to be paid to the operations of the allies in the Baltic Sea region.

The Ukrainian woman won the competition for the best design of the unofficial logo of the coronation of Charles III. The work will be exhibited during the ceremonial reception on the occasion of the coronation of Charles III.
