Over the past day, the enemy massively shelled settlements in Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Izium and Chuhuiv regions with cannon artillery, multiple rocket launchers and rocket launchers.

The shelling of Kupiansk with multiple rocket launchers damaged at least 14 private residential buildings and outbuildings, and caused fires. Two women, aged 76 and 53, and a 35-year-old civilian man were wounded. All the victims were hospitalized.

Near Viazove village, Kharkiv region, the enemy attacked with 2 S-300 missiles. Both hit in an open area in a field. There were no casualties or damage.

Mine clearance is underway. Over the past day, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service examined 9.8 hectares of territory and neutralized 59 ordnance.

Srimantas Krunkaitis, Lithuanian physician, is treating residents of de-occupied settlements in Kharkiv oblast. This is his second visit to Ukraine: last year he worked in Kyiv oblast. To help Ukrainians, Srimantas takes a vacation from work.

Kharkiv’s Ecopark is preparing to open the Alpaca Valley, next to which there was fighting last year. No more than 50 people will be allowed to enter the territory, and a concrete shelter and a medical center will be built. The territory is included in the register of mined areas of Ukraine.

Donetsk oblast

Towards Bakhmut, russian troops reduced the intensity of their attacks yesterday. In the north and south of Bakhmut, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have made some progress.

The russian military is concentrating its forces on Avdiivka and Marinka frontlines, as it sees them as springboards for a counteroffensive by Ukrainian Defense Forces. According to Valeriy Shershen, Spokesman for the joint press center of the Tavria Defense Forces,  the russian military chose the tactic of complete destruction of these settlements.

Near Bakhmut, there were three engagements over the last day, during which the Ukrainian Armed Forces killed 79 russian occupiers and wounded 111. The defense forces destroyed two russian self-propelled artillery systems, nine guns, and seven UAVs of various types.

In the morning, the russian invaders struck Toretsk without causing any casualties. A school housing the Invincibility Centre, a church and high-rise buildings within 100 meters of the epicenter were damaged. According to preliminary information, the enemy used aerial bombs.

Vitalii Barabash, Head of the military administration, says that at least two people were wounded in an air strike on Avdiivka. A 9-storey building was destroyed after an early morning air raid by russian troops, and a neighboring 5-storey building was damaged. Two people trapped under the rubble of a house were killed.

On May 22, russian invaders fired at Stelmakhivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka. The enemy has again focused its efforts on Bilohorivka, trying to push the Ukrainian Defence Forces out of this settlement. They are using rocket and cannon artillery, attacking from the air and making assaults with infantry. But our defenders are skilfully holding the defense and inflicting daily losses on the enemy. Yesterday, there were further attempts at offensive actions. An air strike was also carried out, but the russians had no results.

Luhansk Regional Military Administration said that the enemy has set up several camps for training mobilized soldiers from the russian border areas where, unfortunately, our artillery has not yet reached. They are trained under an accelerated programme for a maximum of two weeks on the territory of farms between Mylove and Starobilsk, where the invaders have set up training grounds.

The vestiges of life in the towns captured in 2022 are gradually fading away. So is the activity of the russians, who have no  desire to restore something at great expense. Over the past 6 months, the occupiers have not made any progress in rebuilding the destroyed infrastructure. They managed to do minimal repair works before the new year. For example, in Sievierodonetsk, water was supplied on an hourly basis and remains so. The pressure is low – there is no water above the second floor. And that’s only in certain areas of the city. The situation is even worse in Lysychansk, where there are only tanks with industrial water in the yards.

Towards Luhansk oblast, between the temporarily occupied settlements of Mylove and Starobilsk, the russian military set up camps for accelerated training of mobilized people. According to the head of the Luhansk Military Administration, the camps are located on the territory of farms.

In the occupied part of Luhansk oblast, potatoes and other food products are almost three times more expensive than in the government-controlled area. According to the head of the RMA, the price difference is very noticeable, especially for beetroot.

Border guards in Luhansk oblast fought back three times against russian troops in response to an attempt to break through the defenses. Thanks to aerial reconnaissance and thermal imagers, SBGSU soldiers were able to detect russian infantry groups in a timely manner.
