It has been the 451st day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

Russian troops carried out 3 missile strikes and 56 airstrikes, launching over 40 artillery barrages from multiple rocket launch systems. Civilian infrastructure was damaged. There are casualties and injuries among civilians. Residential houses and other civilian infrastructure have been destroyed.

Ukraine is still under the threat of missile and airstrikes.

The russian army is concentrating its efforts towards Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariupol. There have been 39 military clashes in these areas of the front line. The fiercest battles are raging in Bakhmut and Mariinka.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, the operational situation remains unchanged.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, russian troops carried out an airstrike in the area of the settlement Nesterne, Kharkiv oblast. They also conducted mortar and artillery shelling on the settlements of Halahanivka, Chernihiv oblast, Halyshivske, Volfyne, Kyndrativka, Yunakivka, Uhroiydy, Sumy oblast, as well as Udi, Kozacha Lopan, Ternova, Hatysche, Vovchansk, Pletenivka, Pokaliane, Nesterne, Budarky, Zemlianky, Ustinivka, and Khatne, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, russian soldiers did not conduct offensive actions. They carried out airstrikes in the areas of Kyslivka and Kotliarivka, Kharkiv oblast. Russian artillery and mortar shelling affected Topoly, Fiholivka, Novomylynsk, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Masiutivka, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, Tabaivka, and Berestove, Kharkiv oblast, as well as Stelmakhivka, Luhansk oblast.

Towards Lyman, russian soldiers did not conduct offensive actions. They carried out airstrikes in the areas of the settlements Yampil and Spirne. Artillery shelling hit Makiiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka, Luhansk oblast, and Torske, Verkhniokamianske, and Spirne, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut, the russian army continues its offensive operations. Heavy fighting for the city of Bakhmut continues. Additionally, they conducted unsuccessful offensive actions towards Bila Hora. Russian troops launched missile strikes in the areas of Sloviansk and Druzhkivka, and airstrikes in the areas of Sloviansk, Druzhkivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Bila Hora, and Toretsk. Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Predtechyne, and Bila Hora, Donetsk oblast were shelled by russians.

Towards Avdiivka, the russian army conducted offensive actions towards Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Severne, but did not succeed. They carried out an airstrike near Avdiivka. Russian soldiers also conducted artillery shelling in the vicinity of Novokalynove, Berdychiv, Stepove, Avdiivka, Tonevke, Pervomaiske, Karlivka, and Nevelske, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Mariinka, Ukrainian troops repelled numerous russian attacks in the area of the city of Mariinka. The russian army launched an airstrike in the area of Krasnohorivka. Hostile shelling affected Hostre, Heorhiivka, Mariinka, and Pobieda, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the russian army conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area of Novomykhailivka. They carried out airstrikes near Vuhledar and Prechystivka. Russian troops also shelled Paraskevivka, Kostiantynivka, Novomykhailivka, Novoukrainka, Vuhledar, and Prechystivka.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the russian army is on the defensive. They conducted airstrikes on the settlements of Poltavka, Zaporizhzhia oblast and Berislav, Kyndik, Kherson oblast. Russian military shelled over 30 settlements. Among them are Vremivka, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, Novopil, Donetsk oblast; Olhivske, Huliaipole, Bilohirya, Mala Tokmachka, and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia oblast; Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk oblast; Zolota Balka, Vesele, Lvove, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Veletenske in Kherson oblast, and the city of Kherson.

The russian army continues to use civilian medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine for its own purposes. For example, the upper floors of the Lutugino District Territorial Medical Association have been transformed into a military hospital by russian troops while they left the pediatric department on the ground floor as a cover. Currently, there are about 100 russian military personnel with injuries of varying severity receiving treatment in the medical facility. This number represents the maximum capacity of the military hospital. At the same time, the civilian population is not receiving medical assistance from the staff of the military hospital.

Ukrainian aviation conducted 8 strikes on areas of the buildup of russian personnel and military equipment.

Units of rocket and artillery troops of Ukraine targeted 4 areas of concentration of russian armaments and military equipment, 1 ammunition depot, 4 artillery units in firing positions, 1 air defense system, and an additional important target of the russian army.


Russia struck the territory near Energodar with artillery. This was reported by the IAEA. The IAEA expert group also added that the proximity of the shelling constantly emphasizes the threat to nuclear safety. 

The Ukrainian language is included in the European Commission’s translation system – eTranslation. This was reported by the Ministry of Statistics. “For Ukraine, this is an important strategic step that will facilitate negotiations on membership in the European Union,” they noted.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops launched air strikes near three settlements: Nesterne, Kyslivka and Kotliarivka.

Dmytro Chubenko, a spokesman of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, reported that since the beginning of russia’s invasion of Ukraine, at least 1919 people, including 75 children, have been killed in the region. According to him, 981 bodies were found in mass graves after the de-occupation, specifically, in Izium, Kozacha Lopan and Borove community, while only 848 have been identified so far.

Press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office informed that russian troops attacked Kharkiv with a kamikaze drone. According to investigators, the strike hit an infrastructure facility in Sloboda district.

Today, Kupiansk was under enemy attack. Two civilians were injured in the shelling. A 44-year-old man was hospitalized and a 61-year-old civilian received medical assistance on the spot. As a result of shelling, grass, construction waste and recyclable materials caught on fire over an area of about 800 square metres.

In Ruski Tyshky village, Kharkiv region, a 43-year-old man stepped on a Butterfly mine in his own yard. He was hospitalized in moderate condition.

Yesterday, the invaders shelled at least 21 settlements in Kharkiv, Kupiansk and Chuhuiv regions with artillery, mortars and aircraft.

As a result of the shelling of Kupiansk, 3 residential buildings and outbuildings were damaged.

A 65-year-old civilian man was killed in Petropavlivka village, Kupiansk region, a residential building and outbuildings were damaged.

In Synkivka village, Kupiansk region, the enemy shelling injured a 43-year-old civilian man; he was hospitalized.

As a result of massive shelling of Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region, 4 residential buildings and outbuildings were damaged.

Mine clearance is ongoing. Yesterday, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 8 hectares of territory and defused 82 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine reported that heavy fighting continues in Bakhmut. The situation is critical. Ukrainian troops are holding the defense in the Litak area.

Oleksandr Honcharenko, head of the Kramatorsk City Military Administration, informed about the shelling. There were hits in the industrial zone and in the fields. There were no casualties.

5 people, including an 11-year-old child, were injured in the shelling of Toretsk. Russians shelled almost the entire city with Grad MRLs, damaging residential buildings and other civilian objects, including the hospital. All the injured were provided with medical assistance and are in satisfactory condition.

Vitalii Barabash, head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration said that russian troops carried out about 20 massive attacks on Avdiivka during the day. There were no casualties.

At dawn, russians attacked Sloviansk with missiles – 1 building was destroyed and 9 others damaged.

Towards Volnovakha, Vuhledar suffered an air strike and 21 artillery attacks. Two buildings were damaged in Bohoiavlennka. Prechystivka was shelled 4 times, Novoukrainka – twice.

Towards Horlivka, 2 people were killed in the Chasiv Yar community. In Toretsk, 1 person was injured, 4 buildings and an infrastructure facility damaged. In Nykyforivka, Soledar community, 13 buildings were damaged. Poltavka, Illinivka community, was hit by a missile, damaging a household building.

Towards Lysychansk, 1 building in Zvanivka and 2 buildings in Torske and Zarichne, Lyman community, were damaged.

Donetsk police reported that yesterday russian troops shelled Chasiv Yar with artillery, killing two civilians and damaging a building. Russian soldiers shelled Toretsk with Grad, Uragan and artillery. The shelling destroyed and damaged 14 residential buildings, factory workshops, a mine, warehouses, outbuildings, garages and cars.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration reported that yesterday Russians killed 2 residents in Chasiv Yar. Two more people were injured.

Referring to the Donetsk police, over the entire period of the search, law enforcement officers recorded 171 individual and three mass graves in the de-occupied territories. They identified 282 deceased people. 77 people remain unidentified, including 35 civilians and 42 members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Luhansk oblast

Another enemy attempt to advance towards Bilohorivka failed. Ukrainian defenders stopped all Russian attempts. But even when the offensive is minimal, the number of enemy artillery attacks does not decrease. Nor did the air strikes – this time the enemy attacked Novoliubivka and Dibrova from the air. The enemy shelled Stelmakhivka, Makiivka, Nevske and Bilohorivka with artillery and mortars.  

Luhansk Regional Military Administration said that due to significant losses, Russians continue to convert civilian educational institutions in Luhansk oblast into medical facilities. Specifically, in Holubivka, the invaders opened a military hospital in a local school. About 50 injured invaders have already been taken there for treatment.

According to the new law, the highest official of a region, where martial law is in force, can submit a proposal to the Russian Central Election Commission to hold elections or a referendum in the region no earlier than 130 days and no later than 90 days before the election day. At the same time, the security situation does not affect the “preliminary voting” procedure – the invaders are not worried about it.

In addition, it is now possible to set up voting stations outside these regions and citizens will be able to use not only their passports but also other documents that replace them when voting. In other words, it will be possible to vote for a candidate of the occupation authorities in the so-called “”Luhansk People’s Republic”” outside the region.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

KCMA reported that after midnight, the russian occupiers attacked Ukraine from the north with 18 Shahed-136/131 attack drones, which were directed to the Kyiv oblast. All targets were destroyed by the forces and means of the air command “Center” of the Air Force.

In Kyiv, as a result of falling pieces of enemy drones, a residential high-rise building caught fire – four apartments were damaged. Falling debris was also recorded on several streets in Darnytskyi, Pecherskyi and Solomyanskyi districts of the capital – the service station building, parked cars, residential building windows and road surface were damaged.

In the Kyiv oblast, the night alarm sounded for more than 2.5 hours. According to the information of the head of RMA Ruslan Kravchenko, no hits and damages due to falling debris were recorded in the territory of the oblast. This is the 11th attack by russian terrorists since the beginning of May.

The head of Kyiv City Military Administration Serhiy Popko said that the fund of civil defense protective structures in the capital has been increased by 398 shelters. According to him, the total number of shelters in Kyiv is currently 4,014.

Kyiv City State Administration reported that during martial law in Kyiv, the navigation of river, small sports boats, jet skis and means of entertainment on water objects was prohibited. Permits for the navigation of ships, upon application by business entities, are granted by the KCMA in agreement with the Command of the Group of Forces and Means of Defense of the City of Kyiv.

Kyiv RMA reported that the oblast will receive $1 million worth of windows to be installed at facilities damaged due to the full-scale invasion of russia. Such help will be provided by the non-profit organization Global Empowerment Mission in partnership with the Howard Buffett Foundation (HGBF).

A procession “We are waiting for the heroes of Mariupol to go home” took place in Kyiv. The participants of the action marched along the boulevard from Shevchenko Park to Khreschatyk and Independence Square. Several hundred members of the families of Mariupol garrison soldiers, soldiers, and veterans took part in the action. It will be recalled that during the year, about 500 defenders of Azovstal were returned to Ukraine, and another 2,000 are still in russian captivity.

Zhytomyr oblast

Representatives of Zhytomyr oblast took part in the First Ukrainian-American Forum, which was held in Kyiv. The forum discussed attracting international aid to restore infrastructure destroyed by russian bombs and missiles, involving American companies in the humanitarian demining of Ukrainian lands, and supporting the Ukrainian economy in conditions of war at the national and regional levels.

ATO veterans Oleksandr Shvetsov and Serhii Khrapko, who walked to meet each other from Zhytomyr and Kyiv during the “Born from the Flame” walking marathon, collected over UAH 3.1 million for a gastroscope for the Main Military Clinical Hospital. In 5 days, the boys covered 120 kilometers with prostheses, thereby setting a national record.

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reported that the russians carried out 17 shellings of the border communities of Sumy oblast. The communities of Bilopillia, Khotyn, Krasnopillia, Yunakivka, Putivl, Shalyhine, Velika Pysarivka were under the shelling, 131 explosions were recorded.

Russian terrorists dropped an explosive device from an unmanned aerial vehicle on a car with employees of Sumioblenergo JSC, killing three people. It happened near the village of Sadky of the Yunakivka community. Also, due to russian shelling, a residential building in the Khotyn community was destroyed.

Sumyoblenergo reported that 181 consumers remained without power in three settlements of Krasnopillia community due to shelling on May 19. The emergency team of power engineers is currently working on restoring the power supply.

At night, the enemy shelled the Khotyn community from the AGS – 15 explosions were recorded. The Bilopillia community was shelled with artillery and mortars – a total of 11 hits were recorded.

The head of Sumy RMA Volodymyra Artyukh said that command and staff exercises are ongoing in the oblast. Within the scope of the exercises, the readiness of the military administrations and heads of communities to respond to emergency situations of a natural, man-made, and military nature is checked. In particular, during consideration of the issue of evacuation of the population in the event of an emergency situation of a chemical or radiation nature, the situation was modeled regarding a probable accident at the enterprise in Sumy.

The Public Health and Rehabilitation Center was opened in Sumy, where doctors will be trained and rehabilitation will be carried out. As reported in the Sumy City Council, it was opened on the basis of the Center for Primary Health Care 2. The project was implemented as part of the UN Peacebuilding and Reconstruction Program with the financial support of the Government of Canada.

Chernihiv oblast

The SBGS reported that the border settlements of Bleshnya, Karpovychi, and Hremyach came under enemy shelling. In total, three strikes from different types of weapons were recorded: 20 explosions of 82 mm caliber mines, 2 explosions from artillery shells, 3 explosions from AGS.

The infrastructure of Chernihiv oblast is planned to be restored together with UNESCO experts. This week, a meeting was held between the Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Nataliya Kozlovska, the head of Chernihiv RMA Vyacheslav Chaus and the head of the UNESCO Bureau in Ukraine Chiara Bardeski. Chernihiv oblast already has a signed program for the comprehensive restoration of the region, and therefore an understanding of the development strategy and the necessary resources.

Chernihiv city council reported that the modular town on Drozd Street in the city is at the final stage. Currently, 112 apartments are being prepared for the residents of Chernihiv, whose houses were destroyed as a result of hostilities, as well as for internally displaced persons. The construction project is implemented with the help of the National Committee of the Red Cross Society.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, head of the regional council, said that russian occupiers shelled Nikopol and Chervonohryhorivska community with heavy artillery, firing more than two dozen shells. A 46-year-old woman was injured. Two five-storey buildings, a dozen private houses and seven other outbuildings, fences, half a dozen solar panels, power grids, and gas pipelines were damaged in the city. Almost a thousand households remain without power.

A hand-to-hand combat tournament was held in the Dnipro Oblast in memory of coach and champion Vadym Sotnikov and the athletes who died on the frontline. The final brought together 250 participants from Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia, and Kyiv. Over the course of more than a year of the full-scale invasion, 25 athletes from Dnipro oblast have been killed in battle.

Mariupol Defenders’ Day was held in Kryvyi Rih.  The memory of the fallen soldiers was honoured at the central cemetery. Military chaplains conducted a prayer service. The cemetery was attended by friends, relatives, and friends of the fallen, as well as those waiting for their loved ones to be released from captivity.  In honour of the soldiers who defended Mariupol, bikers also held a motorcycle ride through the city’s central streets.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov announced that Vinnytsia rescuers received a gift from the sister city of Karlsruhe. It is a Scania fire truck. The advantage of this vehicle is that it is slightly lower than the ones available in local units. 

A photo exhibition “Unconquered South” was presented at the Megamall shopping centre in Vinnytsia. The exhibition consists of 33 photographs that show the war through the eyes of border guards, their life stories, and everyday life. The photo frames are made of boxes from russian Grad shells. The photographs were taken by both professional photographers and the border guards involved in the hostilities.

Poltava oblast

The head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration Dmytro Lunin reported that more than 6.5 tonnes of products were sent to the military from Poltava Oblast.   The regional humanitarian centre sent 2.7 tonnes of food packages. Each set contains canned fish, beans and biscuits. They also sent 1.6 tonnes of protein biscuits, 500 kg each of peas, millet, barley, and wheat cereals, and 300 kg of sugar.

Cherkasy oblast

A medical and sanitary unit has been set up at the main office of the State Emergency Service in the Oblast. It provides cardiograms, ultrasound examinations, and free medicines. Rescuers and veterans of the service receive medical services there.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Russian troops fired at 16 localities in Zaporizhzhia region. They used aviation, artillery, MLRS and UAVs. Nine people were injured. This was reported by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration. 

A 42-year-old local resident was injured during an air strike on Mala Tokmachka. His condition is currently serious. At night, russians hit residential buildings in Tavriyske with multiple rocket launchers: two women, a girl and a 14-year-old boy were wounded. In Verkhnya Tersa, 4 people were wounded during a nighttime shelling.

4 fires broke out in Zaporizhzhia and Polohivsky districts of Zaporizhzhia region as a result of russian shelling. Residential buildings and outbuildings were burning. Three people were injured. This was reported by the rescue service.

The area near the city of Enerhodar, where most of the staff of Zaporizhzhya NPP lives, came under artillery fire, which “indicates an aggravation of the military situation in the region.” International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi on the IAEA website  called for the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant occupied by Russia not to be used as a military base. He is conducting intensive negotiations with all stakeholders to ensure the safety of ZNPP and prevent the risk of a serious nuclear accident on the continent.

Ivan Fedorov, the mayor of Melitopol said that in the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region, the invaders are flooding the fields. Some of the fields are mined. Flooding and mining makes it impossible to conduct agricultural work in the occupied territories. Two weeks ago, the invaders flooded fields near Mykhailivka. Currently, there is water in the fields of Petrivka, Hannivka, Vyazivka and Yelyzavetivka. 

The main department of the State Emergency Service in Zaporizhzhia oblast received a fire truck from the German city of Aalen. The vehicle is not new, but in excellent condition. The rescuers were trained by their German colleagues to work with the new equipment during a business trip of Ukrainians to Aalen. With the help of a modern vehicle with a ladder truck, firefighters will save lives in Zaporizhzhia and later in de-occupied Melitopol.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration reported that on May 19, russians twice shelled the town of Ochakiv, Ochakiv community, Mykolaiv region. The attacks were recorded at 11:07 and 18:35. Private houses were damaged. There are no casualties.

Educational institutions in Mykolaiv region received a valuable gift – almost 150 Nokia wireless routers installed in their shelters. This initiative aims to ensure access to the Internet and uninterrupted educational process even in the event of air raids. The modern equipment was obtained at the initiative of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The Mykolaiv Military Band of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Lieutenant General Oleksiy Almazov traveled the streets of Mykolaiv today in a trolleybus on route 2 and played marching songs at bus stops. The performances were attended by 17 musicians. On the thirtieth anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, the orchestra took an active part in the Independence Day parade. Modern composers have created triple marches to move away from the Soviet marches written by the Soviet, russian crooners. Now we follow the standards of NATO, Europe, and different countries. All of them perform similar marches, which are not 120 steps per minute, but 115.

Odesa oblast

“South” Operational Command reported that on May 20 in the morning, the russian military deployed one missile carrier armed with four Kalibr missiles into the Black Sea. In total, three ships are on combat duty in the Black Sea. There is one ship in the Sea of Azov.

Experts from the State Inspectorate for Environmental Protection have calculated the damage caused to the environment by the shelling of warehouses in the town of Nerubayske in Odesa oblast. 

According to the inspectorate’s press service, the enemy missile caused 587.7 million hryvnias in environmental damage. When inspecting the scene, the inspectors found construction waste contaminating land plots with a total area of more than 28,000 square meters, and found scrap metal (burnt-out trucks) with an area of 957 square meters and a height of 2.5 meters.

Kherson oblast

On May 20, at about 4 am, russian aviation struck Beryslav and Kindiyka near Kherson. A shell hit a private house in Beryslav. A man and a woman were killed in the rubble. A man was wounded in Kindiytsia.

The russian army struck a residential area in Beryslav in the early morning hours: five residential buildings were destroyed, two people were killed.

Kherson Regional Military Administration reported that over the past day, russian occupierss fired 53 times at civilian settlements in Kherson region. They fired 311 shells from artillery, multiple rocket launchers, mortars, tanks, drones and aircraft. In particular, they attacked Osokorivka, Novoraysk, Chervonyi Mayak, Novooleksandrivka, Zolota Balka, Mykhailivka, Havrylivka, Mykolaivka and Tyahyntsi. russian aviation once again dropped bombs on Beryslav.  The rf army  attacked Kherson twice, firing 11 shells at the city. Stepanivka, Molodizhne, Naddnipryanske, Korabelny and Dniprovsky districts of the city, as well as the islands and the coastal area were under attack. Two people were killed. 

The russian troops shelled residential areas of the region’s settlements; the territory and building of a gas station in Beryslav district. There were no casualties.

A 48-year-old man was injured near the village of Klapaya as a result of a tractor explosion. The victim was taken to the nearest medical facility where he was treated.

Kherson Regional Military Administration said that seven shelters were repaired in Kherson community. Six shelters were opened in Kherson and one in the village of Zymivnyk. They are equipped with ventilation, beds, bathrooms with hot water, and supplies of medicines, drinking water and food. Currently, 15 more shelters are being repaired in the region, the work is planned to be completed in June.

The National Resistance Center reports that russian occupiers have taken away about a hundred boats from the residents of the temporarily occupied Kherson region. The seized boats were “officially” transferred to the balance sheet of the russian army. In this way, they are trying to solve the problem of the shortage of boats.

In Kherson oblast, it is forbidden to collect scrap metal from the remains of military equipment. This is due to the need to document the consequences of military aggression and the crimes of the russian military. The restriction will remain in effect until the martial law is lifted or terminated and 30 days afterward.

Volyn oblast

Ivanychiv community in Volyn saw Hero Oleksandr Sushik on his last journey. A 55-year-old defender, father of five children was killed on May 14, 2023 in Donetsk oblast during a combat mission as a result of enemy fire.

Zakarpattia oblast

IDPs registered in Uzhhorod received humanitarian aid,namely, 80 packages with essential items for children under 2 years old; 50 kits with hygiene products, clothes, bed linen and dishes (2,5K units) at the Owl’s Nest Humanitarian Aid Center thanks to the Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen / Wings of Help eV, PDUM Partnerschaft Deutschland-Ukraine/Moldova e. V. and other benefactors.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Children’s Dream of Ukraine non-governmental organization. They discussed cooperation on improving the quality of life of IDP children, children of fallen (deceased) military personnel and children who find themselves in difficult life circumstances.

The RMA reported that a holiday for the children of fallen soldiers was held in Kosovo as part of the Care for the Hero’s Family project.

Lviv oblast

The RMA reported that over 500 IDPs have registered to receive financial assistance from the Hungarian Ecumenical Assistance Service in Sambir region. Over 400 IDPs, in particular from vulnerable categories of the population, received humanitarian aid from the Caritas Lviv UGCC CF in Yavoriv region. A new shelter for 300 IDPs was opened in Chervonohrad region.

UAH 31K was collected at a charity fair in the Lviv district for the needs of soldiers. UAH 16,5K were donated by the employees of Hliynyan city council for the military, who are performing combat tasks in Bakhmut.

Rivne oblast

Cross-border partnership day was celebrated in Rivne oblast. It is dedicated to Ukrainian-Polish good-neighborliness and interregional cooperation, as well as the start of the implementation of the Interreg NEXT Poland – Ukraine 2021 – 2027 Program. The ceremonial opening of the events took place in the European courtyard of the city of Rivne with the participation of Serhii Hemberg, deputy head of the Regional State Administration, the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Lutsk Slawomir Mysiak, Leszek Buller, director of the Center for European Projects, the expert of the representation of the Interreg NEXT Poland – Ukraine 2021 – 2027 Program in Lviv, Vasyl Khim which, representatives of a number of projects from Ternopil and Lviv, Kremenets and Lutsk, the public.

Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital named after Yuriy Semenyuk received 39 functional medical beds free of charge from the Nemocnice Olomouckého kraje (hospital of the Olomouc region of the Czech Republic) provided assistance.

Ternopil oblast

A UNICEF children’s room has started its work in the center of Ternopil. The tent will be open every day on the Theater Square. Children will be able to have fun with animators and take part in various master classes.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Iziaslav City Council reported that a general meeting of the religious community of the Holy Intercession Church of the village of Mokrets was held. The majority of the villagers supported the transition of churches from the UOC (moscow patriarchate) to the OCU.

Chernivtsi oblast

Chernivtsi Regional Council reported that Chernivtsi emergency hospital received a BD BACTEC FX-40 automatic hemocultivator and a NIKON binocular microscope worth EUR 35K from the organization PATRIR (Romania).

International support for Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russian invasion of Ukraine)

Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Emmanuel Macron French President. They discussed the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Charles Michel, President of the European Council. They discussed the course of implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission for the start of negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. In addition, they discussed specific ways of implementing the Ukrainian peace formula and consolidating world support for our peace initiative.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister. Ukraine’s needs in humanitarian demining and mobile hospitals were discussed.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Giorgia Meloni, Italian Prime Minister. They discussed the defense and political support of Ukraine from Italy.

Volodymyr Zelensky met with Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of Great Britain. They discussed the further implementation of the agreements reached during the negotiations in Great Britain, which took place on May 14.

The Ministry of Defense of Denmark reported that the country also declared readiness to train Ukrainian pilots on the F-16.

Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, stated that Portugal joined the aviation coalition by training Ukrainian pilots and mechanics on Western aircraft.

Canada introduced over 70 sanctions for involvement in russia’s abduction of Ukrainian children and support for the occupying army.

The Japanese government announced new sanctions against russia. Additional restrictions apply, in particular, to the assets of almost 100 people and organizations trying to avoid current sanctions – they will be frozen. Japan will also ban exports to 80 russian organizations associated with the russian military, and the provision of architectural and engineering services to russians.

The US is not against the training of Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 and are ready to help. According to CNN, President Joe Biden made this statement at the G7 summit in Hiroshima. The training will probably be held in Europe, and American instructors will participate in the training of Ukrainian pilots.

Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, stated that the country will work together with the US, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark to provide Ukraine with the combat aircraft it needs. Sunak also welcomed the US decision to approve the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets.

In the morning, russian troops fired artillery at the area near Energodar, where most of the ZNPP workers live. An IAEA panel of experts at the ZNPP reported that the plant itself was not damaged, but the closeness of the shelling underscored the ongoing threat to nuclear security as discussions intensified over future military operations in the region.

Mara Carlin, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans and Capabilities, stated that the USA will strengthen their position in the Black Sea region to contain the russian federation.
