It has been the 388th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian federation’s main efforts focus on offensive operations towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka, and Shakhtarsk. Bakhmut remains the epicenter of the fighting.

Failing to achieve the desired result on the battlefield, the russian federation uses terror tactics against civilians. The invaders are shelling towns and villages, as well as critical infrastructure, violating the International Humanitarian Law.

On March 18, the enemy launched 5 missile attacks, 4 of which targeted civilian infrastructure facilities in Zaporizhzhia. There were also 16 air strikes and more than 20 MLRS attacks.

The probability of enemy missile attacks across Ukraine remains high.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk, and Sloboda, the operational situation is stable. Enemy units remain stationed near the state border of Ukraine, but no formation of offensive groups was found. The training of territorial troops of the russian Armed Forces continues at the training grounds of the republic of belarus. The enemy shelled settlements of Oleksandrivka (Chernihiv oblast), Kharkivka, Starikove (Sumy oblast), Chervona Zoria, Veterynarne, Strilecha, Starytsia, Vovchansk, and Velykyi Burluk (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the enemy continues its attempts to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops. There were unsuccessful offensive operations against Dibrova, Verkhniokamianske, and Spirne. The invaders fired artillery at the vicinities of settlements of Putnykove, Krasne Pershe, Dvorichna, Hrianykivka, Kupiansk, Krokhmalne, Berestove (Kharkiv oblast), Novoselivske, Nevske, Bilohorivka (Luhansk oblast), Spirne, and Fedorivka (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy continues attempts to capture the city of Bakhmut. Ukrainian defenders repelled enemy attacks against the settlements of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, and in the northern part of Bakhmut. Vasiukivka, Zaliznianske, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, Ozarianivka, and Pivnichne (Donetsk oblast) came under enemy fire.

Towards Avdiivka, Marinka, and Shakhtarsk, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations towards the settlements of Kamianka, Sieverne, Pervomaiske, and Marinka. Kamianka, Lastochkyne, Avdiivka, Tonenke, Heorhiivka, Nevelske, Marinka, Vuhledar, and Velyka Novosilka (Donetsk oblast) came under enemy fire.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the enemy is defending. Olhivske, Chervone, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, and Kamianske (Zaporizhzhia oblast) came under fire. The city of Kherson was shelled yet again.

The russian occupants continue to use civilian institutions in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast for their own needs. In particular, the enemy is using a school building in one of the settlements of Polohy region as a field hospital with 50 beds. In this way, the occupiers attempt to reduce the time for their sanitary losses personnel to return to active duty.

In Rubizhne (Luhansk oblast), the local so-called ‘authorities’ put in office by the occupation forces are forcing the residents to receive russian citizenship.  Ukrainian passports are not yet being taken away from people, however, a passport of a citizen of the russian federation is required for employment.

On March 18, the Ukrainian Air Force launched 6 air strikes on buildups of invaders’ manpower.

Ukrainian defense forces shot down an enemy Shahed-136 UAV, and missile and artillery units hit 7 buildups of enemy personnel and military equipment.

Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery, announces that the term of the ‘grain deal’ has been extended by 120 days. Ukraine continues to export agricultural products through 3 deep sea ports. He also notes that 25 million tons have already been shipped since August 1 to date.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The Armed Forces General Staff reported that the Russian army shelled at least 13 settlements in Kharkiv oblast, including Dvorichna, Velykyi Burluk, and Strilecha. 

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv MRA, reports that in the morning, the enemy shelled Dvorichna village in Kupyansk region once again. A 51-year-old woman sustained shrapnel wounds. She was hospitalized and is being treated by doctors.

Mine danger remains high in the region. Today, in Yaremivka village, Izium region, 2 men aged 71 and 29 found an explosive object and tried to disassemble it in their own yard. This object detonated. Both were injured and are now hospitalized. One of the victims is in serious condition.

The enemy used S-300 missiles, artillery, mortars and large-caliber machine guns to fire at border settlements in Kharkiv, Kupiansk, Chuhuiv and Bohodukhiv regions. Strelecha, Staritsa, Vovchansk, Dvorichna, Velykyi Burluk, Hrianikivka, Chervona Zoria and other settlements were under enemy fire.

On March 17, the enemy launched two missile attacks on Velykyi Burluk village in Kupiansk region. One of the missiles hit the yard of a residential building. At least 20 neighboring houses and outbuildings were damaged. The second one hit the ground on the territory of the Velykyi Burluk police station, damaging a fire and rescue unit, 6 private cars and neighboring residential buildings. There were no casualties.

Humanitarian demining continues. Over the past day, SES pyrotechnics inspected almost 2.5 hectares of territory and defused 69 ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Serhiy Cherevatyi, Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine  informs that russian troops continue to advance towards Bakhmut, actively using artillery. In this area, russian soldiers launched 352 attacks from various types of artillery.

Niu York was under fire from the russian occupiers at night. The russians struck the village with a missile. Private and apartment buildings and the road were damaged. There were no casualties.

At least 2 people were killed and 8 wounded, three of them in serious condition, as a result of the shelling of Kramatorsk. The russians shelled the city with cluster munitions, hitting Bernatsky Park and the funeral service. A dozen residential buildings and several cars were damaged.

Six civilians were wounded in Kostiantynivka as a result of enemy shelling. The russian occupiers fired several volleys of cluster munitions from the Uragan MLRS. They hit the central market and the Detsky Mir store. 10 private houses, 9 multi-storey buildings, a school, a children’s store, a dozen private cars and garages were damaged.

russian troops shelled Donetsk oblast 21 times with aircraft, Grads, Uragans, artillery, tanks and mortars. There were 6 air strikes on Avdiivka from Grads, artillery and tanks, damaging three apartment buildings and a shop. The russian military struck Ukrainsk with Uragans and hit four apartment buildings.

Pavel Kirilenko, Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, informs that over the past day, russians killed 1 civilian in Ukrainsk, Donetsk oblast. Three more people were wounded in the oblast.

Luhansk oblast

Towards Kupyansk and Lyman, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of our troops during the previous day. They fired at Novoiehorivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka, Novoselivske, Dibrova and Chervonopopivka.

The General Staff reported that the so-called local authorities of Starobilsk, Shchastia, Novyi Aidar, Novopskov and Nyzhniteplene in Luhansk oblast have announced the start of large-scale military exercises for men of military age who hold passports of the ‘LPR’ and the russian federation. Thus, the occupiers are trying to hide total mobilization in the above-mentioned settlements.

According to the Luhansk Military Administration, in five settlements of Luhansk oblast, the occupiers are engaging the entire male population in military exercises, another hospital for the wounded has been set up in Svatove, and the invaders are looting villages under the guise of searching for guerrillas.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

On Friday evening, Kyiv and several oblasts of Ukraine were on air alert due to a kamikaze drone attack. According to the Kyiv City Military Administration, the air defense forces destroyed all the Shahed drones that the russian troops sent towards Kyiv. No casualties or damage are reported.

According to the regional police, 15 mass graves have been found in Kyiv oblast since the beginning of the full-scale war. So far, 1,374 bodies have been examined, most of which were killed by the russian military in the oblast. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the bodies of more than 1K people have been recognized, about 200 remain unidentified, and 283 people are missing. 

The Kyiv police notes that two state-of-the-art DNA laboratories were donated to the Kyiv police by the Howard Buffett Foundation. They are designed to quickly identify a person’s DNA profile at the scenes of murders committed by the russian military and to investigate major crimes committed in the oblast. There are no analogs of such DNA laboratories in Ukraine today.

Rehabilitation and psychological support for employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine was discussed at a meeting between Ihor Klymenko, Minister of Internal Affairs  and  Antonio Gazzanti Pugliese di Cotrone, Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Ukraine. The Order of Malta provides humanitarian aid to Ukraine and is ready to participate in developing a rehabilitation center near Kyiv to train psychological rehabilitation specialists.

The Kyiv RMA reported that as part of the government’s relocation program, 68 companies from Ukraine’s have moved to Kyiv oblast from the areas of active hostilities. The relocation of enterprises from dangerous regions contributes to economic development, protects existing enterprises from destruction, preserves existing jobs, and provides the population with the opportunity to work. The state program ‘Affordable Loans 5-7-9%’ continues to function, allowing representatives of any business to receive a preferential loan.

The EU mission visited Irpin to inspect the reconstruction of residential buildings under the Restore Home program of the Energy Efficiency Fund. Under this program, the first 8 buildings damaged by russian aggression in Kyiv oblast have been restored, including 4 high-rise buildings in Irpin. Applications are still being accepted, and funds for this program allocated by the European Union.

Stabilization blackouts have been canceled in Kyiv and the oblast. DTEK reported that power supply is gradually being restored, but the situation in the power system remains difficult.

Kyiv hosted a charity performance of “X-ray of Smiling Hearts” by actors from the Mariupol-based theater of the original play “Concept”. The show was held on the anniversary of the tragic events when a russian air strike destroyed a drama theater in Mariupol, killing hundreds of Ukrainians. All funds raised from the charity event will go to the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The Siaivo Knytsi municipal bookstore continues to help Ukraine’s defenders with funds raised from the recycling of russian-language books. Recently, thanks to these funds, Kyiv City Clinical Hospital No. 9 received orthopedic beds for comfortable rehabilitation of soldiers and civilians, and soldiers of an artillery brigade received a SsangYong Actyon pickup truck.

Zhytomyr oblast

The power system of Ukraine is stable, with power plants generating enough electricity to cover the demand. However, according to Ukrenergo, power consumption limitations have been imposed in Zhytomyr oblast due to significant damage to the grid caused by the russian shelling.

Zhytomyrteplocomunenergo plans to spend almost UAH 100,000 to repair equipment that was damaged by power outages after the missile attacks by the russian army on March 9. The company reported that all boiler equipment, automatics and network equipment automatically shut down due to a power outage or blackout. To prevent the city from being left without heating, 40 generators were commissioned after the power outage caused by the shelling.

Zhytomyr rescuers received two modern MAN L-75 aerial ladders from the municipality of Dortmund, cooperating with the Zhytomyr community. These ladders are designed to extinguish fires and provide assistance during emergencies; they are equipped with special devices for lifting and moving heavy loads. The maximum lifting height is comparable to the height of a 10-storey building.

Sumy oblast

The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that over the past 24 hours, the russian forces shelled Shalyhine, Esman, and Bilopillia communities. There were 20 mortar bombs, 16 artillery shells, and 150 grenade launcher rounds. According to the military, the operational situation on the border of Sumy oblast is under control, no hostile offensive battle groups have been detected near the state border.

Serhii Naiev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,  inspected defensive positions of Sumy oblast. He noted that the soldiers defending this area know their combat mission and are ready to fulfill it, if necessary. According to the Joint Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Commander also held a meeting aimed at arranging joint efforts to reduce civilian casualties and strengthen critical civilian infrastructure in the border areas of Sumy oblast.

The SES reported that the vehicle fleet of the rescue service in Sumy oblast has been replenished with new special fire trucks. As part of the global campaign ‘Ukraine is Calling’, the firefighters received a modern Renault-based fire ladder from the Association of Ukrainians in Luxembourg LUkraine. A DENNIS fire and rescue vehicle was delivered to the 23rd State Fire and Rescue Unit in Velyka Pysarivka thanks to foreign partners.

Chernihiv oblast

Enemy troops once again shelled border areas of Chernihiv oblast. The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that there were 13 shells fired from barrel artillery near Oleksandrivka village in the Semenivka community. On the day before, the russian military shelled the Snovsk community – there were 27 artillery shells.

Compensation for owners of apartments damaged by hostilities has been agreed in Chernihiv. 157 residents will receive one-time financial assistance from the budget of the Chernihiv City Territorial Community in the amount of UAH 3.14 million. This decision was made by the Chernihiv City Council.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashu, Head of the Regional Council, says that three UAVs were shot down by air defense forces and two more hit a critical infrastructure facility in Novomoskovsk – these are the consequences of yesterday’s enemy drone attack. The destruction is significant. Consequences of the attack that caused the fire are being eliminated. The fire destroyed 4 country houses and damaged 6 more. 

A long-term free accommodation center for internally displaced persons and people who lost their homes due to russian aggression was opened in Dnipro. The center can accommodate up to 56 people.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia hosted a charity art event “Heroes Without Weapons” in support of Kherson firefighters. The purpose of the concert was to raise money for three thermal imagers for the fire brigades of the de-occupied regional center.

Mykhailo Demchenko, Head of the Stryzhavske territorial community, informs that young people from Miziakivski Khutory raised UAH 11 K for the Ukrainian army. Young activists Victoria Livarchuk and Mariana Ivatsko cited Taras Shevchenko’s poems at the poetry evening. 

Kirovohrad oblast

Andriy Raykovych, Head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, says that during the year of war, Kirovohrad oblast became a powerful humanitarian hub in the center of Ukraine. Kropyvnytskyi is currently home to more than 30 K internally displaced people. 

The enterprise, relocated from Donetsk Oblast, is helping to repair the Dnipro-Kirovohrad water supply system in Kropyvnytskyi. Repairs are five times cheaper. The enterprise from the village of Niu York, Bakhmut region, moved to Alexandria in the summer of 2022.

Poltava oblast

Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional Military Administration, announces that soldiers from Poltava oblast were given household items for a newly formed unit.

Several hundred sets, containing a bed, a futon, a mattress, and a sleeping bag each. In addition, they donated dishes and thermoses. All this was purchased at the expense of the regional budget.

Cherkasy oblast

An educational hub was created in one of the schools in Smila region. It provides psychological training and classes for internally displaced children to unite them and adapt to new conditions.

Since the beginning of 2023, 100 internally displaced people have been employed in Cherkasy oblast, and fifteen more are undergoing vocational training.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The enemy focuses its main efforts on holding the seized areas. There were 104 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders with tank weapons, rocket and barrel artillery along the entire contact line.

According to the National Security Service in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, the occupiers shelled civilian infrastructure in the area of Zaporizhzhia, Zaliznychne, Olhivske, Chervone, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, Mala Tokmachka, Novoandriivka, Charivne, Bilohiria, Novopavlivka, Kamianske, and Mali Shcherbaky.

7 reports were received about the destruction of  houses (apartments) of citizens and infrastructure objects as a result of shelling by russian military personnel.

The General Staff of Ukraine states that russian occupiers supported by local collaborators are increasing the number of torture chambers in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. At least five places of detention are already known in Melitopol. A newly created torture chamber was spotted in the southeastern part of Enerhodar. The russians torture people for their pro-Ukrainian position and disobedience to the occupation authorities, or even for no reason. 

In anticipation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive, the racists began mining roads and bridges in the Zaporizhzhia sector. For example, around the town of Polohy, near the village of Bahate, the russists set up many tripwires.

Mykolaiv oblast

Mykolaiv Military District Administration reported that on March 17, the enemy conducted mortar and artillery attacks on the waters of the Ochakiv community. There were no casualties reported. Also, shelling was recorded on the territory of the Kutsurub community. According to preliminary information, there was no damage and no casualties.

As of today, 51 vessels with almost 670 thousand tonnes of various cargoes (including grain) and about 230 crew members are blocked in Ukrainian ports. In particular, 30 vessels have been blocked in the ports of Mykolaiv oblast, including eight vessels carrying over 165 thousand tonnes of agricultural products.

Mykolaiv oblast was the first to start humanitarian demining of agricultural land. Significant forces from engineering and sapper units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service, and foreign operators are engaged.

Odesa oblast

There is a high threat of missile, air strikes, and kamikaze drone attacks in Odesa oblast. Seventeen enemy ships are currently in the Black Sea, including four large landing ships and three missile carriers (one underwater), the total volley of which can be up to twenty Kalibr missiles.

Today, the final decision was made on continuing the grain corridor operation from the seaports of Odesa oblast. It will be in effect for another 120 days. The Grain Deal ensures the export of Ukrainian agricultural cargo from the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi.

Volunteers have sent a large shipment of gifts to Ukrainian army units in Donbass. Yesterday, another aid truck went to Bakhmut to help Ukraine’s defenders. In total, this week they have collected a cargo worth UAH 300 K, including a powerful laptop, spare parts and equipment for military vehicles, 3 sets of tires, a welding machine, and a grinder. Volunteers from this community also delivered a batch of food, hygiene products, medicines and trench candles to the defenders.

Kherson oblast

According to the Kherson RMA, the russian invaders attacked civilian settlements in Kherson oblast 50 times. They fired 237 shells from mortars, MLRS, artillery, tanks and drones.

The russian military shelled residential areas of Kherson 3 times. Enemy shells hit private and apartment buildings. Two people were wounded by shelling, and another person injured by a mine.

russian troops once again fired on Beryslav and Kherson regions, the city of Kherson and its suburbs. They fired from artillery, MLRS, mortars and UAVs, targeting civilian residential areas. In Veletynske village, artillery shelling damaged a kindergarten and dozens of private houses.

In Kherson, the center, Korabel and KhBK districts suffered from hostile attacks. The shelling damaged private, five- and nine-storey buildings and cars. There are wounded among the civilians. Over the past day, the police opened 38 criminal proceedings on war crimes committed by the russian army in Kherson oblast.

According to the joint press center of the South Defense and Security Forces, the Defense Forces destroyed a multiple rocket launcher system near Kakhovka, which was used by the russian army to shell the opposite bank.

russian occupiers have drained the Kakhovka reservoir to a critically low level, this threatening the supply of drinking water and agricultural production in Kherson oblast, as well as the safety of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Overall, the environmental impact of the war in Ukraine is estimated at almost UAH 2 trillion.

The Beryslav community received humanitarian aid: hygiene kits, blankets, NFI kits, special kits for people with limited mobility, and medicines.  This was made possible thanks to the support of the International Organization for Migration, part of the UN system, WHO and HEKS-Epper.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The Volyn Regional Council decided to implement a training center for the mobilized on the basis of one of the military units, where military training and a field base camp are combined.

Zakarpattia oblast

Local and relocated companies in Zakarpattia can receive grants from the International Organization for Migration. The new stage started a month ago, and 20 entrepreneurs have applied for participation in the selection.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA reported that in Ivano-Frankivsk, the second charity auction in support of Carpathian soldiers was held. UAH 3,543 million was collected. The final amount will be announced later, because donations were also received on the accounts. A total of 51 unique lots were presented. The most expensive lot was sold for UAH 880K. This is the painting “Mystery” by Ukrainian painter Mykhailo Kuziv.

Four SUVs were sent to the zone of active hostilities to support the fighters from the CF “Virni”. Two cars will be sent to the “Separate Presidential Brigade”, which is fighting in the hottest spots in Eastern Ukraine.

The RMA reported that 3 Starlinks (the cost of one is UAH 25K), 3 drones “MAVIK 3 Enterprise” (estimated cost of one is UAH 160-170K), a thermal imager “Pulsar” and a thermal imaging sight AGM were sent to the frontline fighters.

Lviv oblast

At night, kamikaze drones of the Shahed 136 type attacked the oblast. According to preliminary information, there were six of them. Three were shot down by Air Defense Forces. Three more drones hit non-residential premises in the Yavoriv region. The premises are damaged. There are no casualties.

The first and unprecedented in the history of Ukrainian medicine educational and practical course of the leading American organization – the Society of Critical Care Physicians (SCCM) started in Lviv. Ukrainian intensive care and emergency medics and military  doctors are being trained to use ultrasound diagnostics for patients with critical conditions, namely, bleeding, mine-explosive injuries, polytrauma, etc.

The RMA reported that employees of the Center for social services of the Zimnovodovo village council and their friends from the US sent a Mavic-3 drone for the needs of 24th separate mechanized brigades named after King Danylo.

The children’s department of the Brodivsk Central City Hospital received a new veinscan from German partners from Osteuropa-Hilfe (Marija Reitinger).

The Dobromyl community of the Sambir region signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv oblast which provides for the implementation of the Community Police Officer project.

The Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv RMA reported that on March 22, a solidarity match between Great Britain and Ukraine will be held in the British Parliament. The number one player of the British national team, Michael Adams, will play against the Ukrainian champion from Lviv Andrii Volokitin.

Rivne oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Rivne and Volyn region department of the Western interregional administration of the Ministry of Justice, as well as heads of correctional colonies and the center of Rivne oblast. Together with the Department of Construction, they discussed arrangement of fortifications involving production facilities of correctional colonies of the oblast.

The RMA reported that local policemen received 23 cars from the National Police.

Ternopil oblast

Mykhailo Dianov transferred UAH 400K for the treatment of Ukrainian children in Turkey. “It is these children who will build a new Ukraine, and become the basis of the country’s bright future and its successes,” the marine said. The military man is donating the money collected for his treatment to various charity projects. In total, he has spent UAH 13.3 million.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The RMA reported that at night, kamikaze drones of the Shahed 136 type attacked the area. Air defense forces shot down them. There were no injuries or damage.

Chernivtsi oblast

Ruslan Zaparaniuk, Head of the Chernivtsi RMA, met with representatives of business circles of Izmir (the Republic of Turkey). The possibility of building a factory for the production of prostheses for military personnel who suffered as a result of hostilities was discussed.

23 territorial communities of Bukovyna received 30 Starlinks from the +380 CHARITY FUND with the assistance of the Ministry of Digital Transformation. Starlinks will be used to equip Invincibility Centers.

10 patients of the Liubomyr psychoneurological boarding school and an accompanying person arrived in Bukovyna from Zaporizhzhia oblast by the medical evacuation train of “Medics Without Borders – Brussels”. At the train station, they were met by medics and employees of the Chernivtsi RMA.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Ministry of Defense of Poland reported that Poland and Slovakia will jointly transfer 33 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine (13 from Slovakia and 20 from Poland).

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that 16 Ukrainian defenders are taking 3-week shooting instructor courses in Lithuania.

The UN commission has confirmed that russian armed forces are responsible for the indiscriminate air attacks on the drama theater and maternity ward in Mariupol and for the rocket attack on the railway station in Kramatorsk.

Olaf Scholz, German Chancellor, welcomed the decision on putin’s arrest warrant. According to Scholtz, the decision of the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for the russian dictator proved that no one has the right to be above the law.

The Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv RMA reported that on March 22, a solidarity match between Great Britain and Ukraine will be held in the British Parliament. The number one player of the British national team, Michael Adams, will play against the Ukrainian champion from Lviv Andrii Volokitin. As announced by British chess resources, the Speaker of the Parliament will make the ceremonial first move for Michael Adams, and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Great Britain, Vadym Prystaiko, will answer for Volokitin. The players will then play a friendly blitz game with five minutes per game. 

Western countries issued statements on the anniversary of the occupation of Crimea:

“Nine years after the illegal annexation of Crimea, Great Britain continues to be on the side of Ukraine, which continues to fight against russian aggression. Ukrainian citizens in Crimea are oppressed: there are no freedoms, civilians are detained, children are taken to “re-education” camps, the British Embassy said.

Finland does not recognize russia’s illegal annexation. We support the territorial integrity of Ukraine and efforts to restore it. Crimea is Ukraine,” the country’s Foreign Ministry notes.

Sweden does not recognize russia’s illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories. We will continue to unwaveringly support Ukraine,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
