War in Ukraine today: latest news, March 13, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 383th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:

The aggressor continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive actions against Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Marinka and Shakhtarsk, trying to reach the administrative border of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

The enemy conducted 29 air and 6 missile strikes, striking, in particular, the vocational and agricultural lyceum in Znob-Novhorodske, Sumy oblast. One civilian was killed and 5 other civilians wounded. Russian occupiers also hit a school in Avdiivka, Donetsk oblast, with two rockets, killing a local resident. In addition, the enemy fired more than 10 times from multiple launch rocket systems.

There is still a high missile threat throughout Ukraine.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda, the operational situation remained unchanged. The enemy maintains its military presence near the state border of Ukraine, but no offensive groups have been detected. At the same time, the enemy continues to fortify the border areas of Bryansk and Kursk oblasts. During the day, the occupiers shelled Mikhalchyna Sloboda in Chernihiv oblast, Znob-Novhorodske, Bachivsk, Starykove and Shalyhyno in Sumy oblast, and Strilecha, Hlyboke, Lukiantsi, Hatyshche and Vovchansk in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the enemy is attempting to break through the defense of our troops. There were some unsuccessful offensives towards Hrianykivka, Masiutivka, Nevske, Serebriany forestry, Bilohorivka and Verkhniokamianka. Hrianykivka, Kupiansk and Krokhmalne in Kharkiv oblast and Makiivka, Dibrova and Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast were shelled with artillery.

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy continues its attempts to capture the city of Bakhmut. Enemy attacks were repelled near Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Hryhorivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, and fighting continues in Bakhmut. In particular, Bondarne, Vasiukivka, Dubove-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Bila Hora, Kostiantynivka and Zalizne in Donetsk oblast were subjected to hostile attacks.

Towards Avdiivka, Maryinka and Shakhtarsk, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives against Kamianka, Avdiivka, Severne, Pervomaiske and Marinka. Over 10 settlements near the contact line were shelled by the enemy. These include Kamianka, Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Marinka, Heorhiivka and Vuhledar in Donetsk oblast.

The enemy is conducting defensive actions towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson areas. These include Zolota Balka, Havrylivka, Beryslav, Zelenivka, Blahovishchenske, Kherson and Dniprovske.

In the temporarily russian-occupied city of Enerhodar, at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the shortage of professional workers who can ensure operation of the plant is growing dramatically. After the russian occupiers hired people without appropriate education and experience, the russian representatives of Rosatom expired their contract. At the same time, they were denied the opportunity to sign a new contract or extend the existing one. They were also denied a return to russia, as there is no one else to work at the nuclear power plant. All this can lead to unpredictable consequences.
