War in Ukraine today: latest news, March 08, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 378th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:

The russian federation pursues to occupy Ukraine and continues its full-scale armed aggression.

The invaders’ main focus is the offensive operations on Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Shakhtarsk.

The enemy continues to violate the rules of International Humanitarian Law, striking and shelling with artillery civilian facilities and homes.

The enemy launched 22 air strikes, 29 MLRS attacks and used 1x Shahed-136 UAV. The drone was destroyed.

Ukraine is still under the threat of missile strikes.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk, and Sloboda, there were no significant changes. No formation of offensive groups were detected.  The enemy shelled the vicinities of settlements of Senkivka, Chernihiv oblast, Kharkivka, Atynske, Sumy oblast, Strilecha, Ternova, Vilcha, Kamiaanka, Dvorichna, and Holubivka, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the enemy  continues its attempts to break through the defense of Ukrainian troops. They conducted unsuccessful offensives towards Hrianykivka, Spirne, and Bilohorivka. The invaders fired from artillery at Vilshana, Kupiansk, Kyslivka, and Pershotravneve, Kharkiv oblast, Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Luhansk oblast, Novoselivka, Kolodiazi, Dibrova, and Berestove, Donetsk oblast,

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy continues to advance. The city of Bakhmut is being assaulted. Ukrainian defenders repelled attacks in the vicinities of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Dubovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, and Ivanivske. Zaliznianske, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Kostiantynivka, Kurdiumivka, Ozaryanivka, Dyliivka, Druzhba, and New York, Donetsk oblast, were under enemy fire.

Towards Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk, the enemy  conducted unsuccessful offensive operations towards Kamianka, Sieverne, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk oblast. In Kreminna, Luhansk oblast, representatives of the so-called local “authorities” started to increasingly evict locals from their homes. Occupation military forces assist and argue that additional accommodation for newly arrived representatives of the russian armed forces is required.

The number of newly mobilized to the russian  armed forces dissatisfied with the command’s actions is growing. The key reason behind this is using occupiers previously trained to serve in the ranks of support units without combat experience as assault groups. It results in more casualties. Backup soldiers do not agree to meet their deaths.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched 11 air strikes on concentrations of the occupiers and 1 air strike on the position of the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile system.
