It has been the 375th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

Russian key efforts are focused on offensive operations towards Kupiansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Shakhtarske.

The russian army continues to destroy the critical infrastructure of Ukraine by targeting civilian facilities and homes.

Russian soldiers launched 4 missiles, 23 air strikes and over 55 MLRS attacks. Ukraine is still under the threat of missile strikes.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda, no significant changes, no formation of offensive groups was found. The russian army is erecting defensive  constructions, including anti-tank ditches, on the border areas of Bryansk and Kursk oblasts, russia. Russian troops fired mortars and artillery at the settlements of Yanzhulivka, Tymonovychi, Chernihiv oblast, Studenok, Budivelne, Vovkivka, Atynske, Iskryskivshchyna, Volfyne, Sadky, Sumy oblast, Budarky, Veterynarne, Strilecha, Krasne, Ternova, Dvorichanske, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, russian troops conducted several unsuccessful offensives towards the settlement of Bilohorivka, Luhansk oblast. The russian army shelled the vicinities of settlements of Dvorichna, Hrianykivka, Pischane, Kharkiv oblast, Bilohorivka, Nevske, Serebrianske, Luhansk oblast, and Terny, Spirne, Rozdolivka, Donetsk oblast, with artillery.

Towards Bakhmut, the russian army is assaulting the city of Bakhmut and settlements around it. Zaliznianske, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kurdiumivka, Shyroka Balka, Hryhorivka, Maiorsk, New York, Donetsk oblast were attacked.

Towards Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk, the russian army continues to attack the positions of Ukrainian troops, launching several unsuccessful attacks towards Kamianka, Krasnohorivka, Severne, Pobeda and Marinka, Donetsk oblast. Russian military fired from artillery and mortars at the vicinities of settlements of Vesele, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomaiske, Krasnohorivka and Vuhledar.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, russian troops shelled the vicinities of more than 35 settlements. Among them are Novosilka, Vremivka, Donetsk oblast, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Kamianske, Zaporizhzhia oblast. Chornobaivka, Beryslav, Vesele, Antonivka, and the city of Kherson. A conflict is brewing in the top military leadership of the russian federation due to significant losses and the lack of real achievements at the front. In February of this year, vladimir putin awarded the commander of the Eastern Military District, Muradov, the rank of colonel general for a report on the “successes” of the 155th Marine Brigade in the Vuhledar direction. Now the russian Minister of Defense sergei shoigu demands that the general proves he is worthy of the rank and takes the city at any cost. According to the available information, the leadership of the 155th brigade and the servicemen refuse to go on a senseless offensive again, in which the incompetent leadership sends them, to storm well-fortified positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without any support and preparation.

The Ukrainian Air Force launched 10 air strikes on the concentrations of russian manpower and equipment. Missile and artillery units hit 2 command post of the russian army.

According to Olena Zelenska, 171 sexual violence cases by russian occupies were reported. Not only women and girls were sexually abused, but also 39 males. 13 victims are adolescents, there is one boy among them. “We are discussing these cases only because these people were strong enough to speak up. We do not know how many people suffer silently, especially on the temporarily occupied territories”, she noted. 

According to Energoatom, since the large-scale war broke out, russians shelled 225 times at energy facilities in Ukraine. Ukraine saw the most strikes 82 in October, while there were only 3. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops shelled at least nine settlements.

Kharkiv Kraken special forces unit reported on the website about destruction of an automatic Grenadier surveillance tower in russia. The tower in Bryansk region, bordering Ukraine in the north, was destroyed by a kamikaze drone.

Regional rescue department reported that as a result of the russian shelling of Kupiansk, a fire broke out in the building of the railway station in the morning. Director of the Emergency Medical Centre, Viktor Zabashta, said that the area was about 50 square meters. There were no casualties.

Two people were killed in a shelling of Budarky village. According to the investigation, a russian shell hit a car with a man and a woman in it. The Prosecutor’s Office said that they died on the spot. Preliminary, it was an anti-tank guided missile, the car was torn in half.

The enemy continues shelling civilians in the border areas of Kharkiv oblast. Yesterday, settlements of Chuhuiv and Kupiansk districts were under enemy attack.

This morning, the enemy fired at Kupiansk once again. A transport infrastructure facility was damaged. A fire broke out. Rescuers are working at the scene, the information is being clarified.

Yesterday after 11 pm, at least 5 residential buildings and outbuildings were destroyed in Kupiansk as a result of enemy shelling and fires broke out. A 65-year-old man was killed when a shell hit a residential building.

In addition, buildings of an educational institution and a maternity hospital were damaged as a result of hostile shelling in Kupiansk.

Humanitarian de-mining is still ongoing. Pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service defused 37 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Deputy Commander of the Svoboda battalion of the 4th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Volodymyr Nazarenko informed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are controlling the Kostiantynivka-Bakhmut highway near Ivanivske.

Yesterday, russian troops launched 38 attacks on Donetsk oblast. In the morning, russian troops struck Hryshyne of Pokrovsk community with S-300 systems and damaged seven buildings. At night, Avdiivka suffered two massive artillery attacks and in the morning it was shelled with Grad multiple rocket launchers. Russians hit residential areas and the territory of an enterprise.

Donetsk police reported that russian troops shelled Druzhba village with artillery, damaging two private buildings and a garage. A child born in 2005 was injured.

In the morning, russians struck Hryshyne of Pokrovsk community with S-300s, damaging 10 buildings, windows, roofs and fences of households. 6 buildings were damaged as a result of the evening shelling of Myrnohrad community.

Towards Donetsk, Avdiivka suffered 2 massive artillery attacks at night and in the morning it was shelled with Grad multiple rocket launchers. Russians hit residential areas and the territory of an enterprise. In Kurakhove, 1 person was injured and 9 buildings damaged, 3 more buildings and a school damaged in Kurakhivka. A person was injured in Lastochkyne of Ocheretyne community.

In Horlivka sector, 2 people were killed in Bakhmut. In Toretsk community, 1 person was wounded and 3 houses damaged. A rescuer was wounded in Kostiantynivka community, a part of the State Emergency Service in Kostiantynivka, 6 houses in Oleksandr-Shultyno, 6 houses and a shop in Diliyivka were damaged. 2 houses were damaged in Chasovoyarsk  community.

Towards Lysychansk, 1 person was injured and buildings on two streets damaged in Siversk. Three buildings were damaged in Pereizne of Zvanivka community.

Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, reported that yesterday, russians killed 2 residents in Bakhmut. 7 people were injured.

Luhansk oblast

Towards Kupiansk and Lyman, the enemy conducted offensive actions in Bilohorivka, Nevske and Serebrianka forestry but with no success. They attacked Bilohorivka, Chervonopopivka, Nevske and Stelmakhivka with artillery.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, said that in Svatove region, our soldiers are holding the line reliably. The enemy is not successful there at all. He also noted that russians are attacking with both heavy equipment and infantry.

Referring to the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, teenagers born in 2006 are being urgently registered for military service, movement in the region is restricted without a russian passport and regular searches of the population were conducted in Bilokurakyne and Novopskov.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

A modular educational space was opened in the village of Zahaltsi as part of the region recovery after the full-scale invasion to Kyiv oblast by russian troops. As reported in the Borodianka Township Council, from now on, thanks to the USAID “Dream and Act” Program and the Portuguese company jp.ik, elementary school students will be able to resume their studies offline, and graduates will be able to prepare for admission to higher educational institutions.

Kyiv has acquired and prepared 12 mobile boiler houses, another 11 are being produced. Such boiler houses are manufactured in Ukraine. In case of an emergency, mobile boiler rooms on a car platform will provide heat, first of all, to hospitals, schools and kindergartens. It takes about two hours to start up the boiler room and provide heating.

The sister city is helping Bucha to rebuild the school on Yablunska Street, damaged due to russian aggression in February-March last year. As reported in the city council, the roof is being repaired there thanks to the financial support of the Portuguese twin city of Cascais.

A high-rise building in Hostomel, damaged by russian shelling in the spring of 2022, was restored with the help of Lviv. The Lviv City Council announced the works were completed. Lviv undertook to help in the summer of last year. At that time the building did not have a fifth floor. The facades were charred and riddled with bullet holes.

Bucha community handed over two buses and a SUV for the Armed Forces. As reported by Bucha mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk, a Chevrolet SUV and two Mercedes-Benz buses will now serve the 47th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The community received buses from our German partners from the city of Bergish Hladbach.

The KCSA reported that Kyiv’s municipal cinemas will be turned into “multifunctional cultural centers,”. Institutions will provide professional consultations and information assistance. It will be possible to use premises and equipment for creativity, as well as for learning and communication. The “Kyivkinofilm” network includes 12 cinemas.

A mural dedicated to the unity of Ukrainian people appeared in Kyiv: “What’s cooler than a family of 44 million?”. The mural was created by Kharkiv artist Sonia Morozyuk.

Zhytomyr oblast

Head of the Zhytomyr RMA Vitaly Bunechko said that 55% of the buildings damaged by russian shelling in Zhytomyr oblast have been restored by joint efforts of regional and local authorities, international partners and benefactors. According to him, last year almost 200 million hryvnias were allocated to the ongoing repair of windows, doors, and roofs of damaged buildings. 3,350 objects in the oblast were damaged during the full-scale war.

The Zhytomyr RMA reported that artists from the oblast have submitted applications for the program “Restoration of cultural and artistic activity”. The main goal of the program is to ensure and support the restoration of the cultural and artistic activities of artists and cultural institutions of Ukraine in the conditions of a full-scale war. 7 projects and 5 scholarships were received from Zhytomyr oblast.

The project of obtaining energy from waterfalls of Zhytomyr schoolboy Ilia Sydorchuk took second place in the All-Ukrainian Eco-Techno Ukraine competition. Now Ilia will defend his invention at an international competition in the USA. According to the author of the project, the aim of the research was to find a cost-effective and ecologically safe source of energy from waterfalls to illuminate the area near them. The tests were conducted at a waterfall near the Zhytomyr dam.

Sumy oblast

The russians shelled 7 border communities: Bilopillia, Esman, Shalyhine, Nova Sloboda, Znob-Novhorodske, Myropillia, Yunakivka. A total of 117 mortar and artillery strikes were recorded. The culture center and power lines in two communities were damaged due to shelling in the Bilopillia community.

The Sumy RMA reported that the enemy attacked the Znob-Novhorodske and Seredina-Buda communities, 31 artillery hits were recorded.

The Sumy oblast State Emergency Service reported that rescuers carried out emergency recovery work at the site of an enemy strike In Krasnopillia region. They helped the residents of Myropillia village, where four residential buildings were damaged due to mortar shelling.

In four months, the doctors of mobile teams provided care to about three thousand patients in two communities of the Okhtyrka region, Chernechchyna and Boromlya. They took part in the project, implemented on the initiative of the NGO “Academy of Family Medicine of Ukraine” and with the assistance of the WHO office in Ukraine. Doctors consult patients in paramedic centers, and where they are not available in libraries and clubs.

A charity exhibition and sale in support of the families of fallen volunteers opened in Sumy. It is dedicated to the memory of seven defenders who died defending the city at the beginning of a full-scale invasion. The organizers want to draw attention to the families of defenders who formally did not have time to join any military unit or volunteer association, but died as heroes. The exhibition will last until March 17 in the “Manufactura” shopping center.

Chernihiv oblast

Head of the Chernihiv City Military Administration Dmytro Bryzhynskyi announced that they plan to restore the city video surveillance system, used by the military during the defense of the city within a month. Currently, only a third of the video cameras in the city and its surroundings are operating. Thanks to these video cameras, several groups of the enemy trying to enter the city center were destroyed in the spring of last year.

Over 116,000 incandescent lamps, which the population of Chernihiv oblast brought to Ukrposhta branches to exchange for new LED lamps, were taken for disposal. As reported in Chernihiv RMA, more than 176,000 lamps have already been exchanged in the oblast. The government program is being implemented with the financial support of the European Union in order to reduce electricity consumption by households.

They plan to make a war museum in the school building in the village of Yagidne, where the occupiers kept about 300 local residents in inhumane conditions, 11 of whom died. The regional military administration will contact the authorities to determine the status of the future museum. The RMA believes that war crimes committed by russia, accompanied by extreme cruelty against the civilian population, should be recorded.

The exhibition “Embroidered with pain” will be held at the Chernihiv railway station until March 15. It features handmade towels, ornamentation of which reflects collective stories of people who were subjected to violence during the russian occupation. Designer Bohdan Hdal, who learned the stories, selected colors and created sketches of the ornaments based on personal feelings.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Mykola Lukashuk, head of Dnipropetrovsk regional council, russian invaders shelled Nikopol with heavy artillery. A private enterprise, a grocery store, five civilian homes and one multi-storey building, 2 outbuildings and power grids were damaged.

The book “Steel evacuation”, dedicated to the bravery of railway workers, was presented at the railway station in Dnipro. 

Vinnytsia oblast

According to the volunteer Diana Podolianchuk, volunteers from Vinnytsia together with american partners managed to collect 1 million UAH to support the Ukrainian military by selling the souvenirs made of the shot down russian aircraft. The first batch of funds raised on souvenirs sales will be used for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

Kirovohrad oblast

The solo singer of Kirovohrad regional philharmonic Vladyslav Buraha, who has been fighting with occupiers since the large-scale was began, recorded the song “In the yellow meadow” at the front.  

Cherkasy oblast 

Cherkasy regional prosecutor’s office helped the 118th territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They delivered 4 sets of tires, other vehicle sets and electriсal products. 

Volunteers of Yerkivsk community, located in Katerynopilsk, delivered a pickup truck from Germany and handed it over to Ukrainian defenders. 

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to the Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration, the enemy fired 104 times at the positions of Ukrainian defenders, using tank weapons, rocket launchers and cannon artillery along the entire contact line.

The death toll from a russian missile attack on a residential building in Zaporizhzhia has risen to 13 people, including an 8-month-old child. The repair works are ongoing. Utilities have removed more than 853 tons of rubble. Psychologists of the State Emergency Service are providing assistance to residents and relatives of the victims. One woman and one man are still missing.

Diplomatic efforts to return the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to Ukraine have been unsuccessful. It is impossible to reach an agreement with russians. Moreover, the occupiers are creating a dangerous situation at the plant.

In Zaporizhzhia, the Ukrainian military destroyed a russian BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher system.

The wife of an ATO veteran and elementary school teacher, Iryna Rohula, founded a children’s development center in Zaporizhzhia. She implemented the project with the help of the Ukrainian Veterans Fund. The Center currently has preschool and primary school groups. Up to 12 kids attend daily, including children of military personnel.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to the Mykolaiv RMA, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the enemy on the Kinburn Spit. Ukrainian soldiers destroyed an artillery gun and a multiple rocket launcher system of the russian army, and blew up an ammunition depot, the South Command reported. Yesterday, russian occupiers fired several times at Mykolaiv region. There were no casualties.

In Novooleksandrivka, Mykolaiv oblast, a monument to Captain Vadym Moroz was erected by his comrades-in-arms. The senior aviation pilot died in the sky above the village on March 3, 2022. Vadym Moroz was only 26 years old. 

In Mykolaiv oblast, three and a half thousand oak and Crimean pine seedlings were planted in Voznesensk district at the site of fierce fighting as part of the Green Country program.

Odesa oblast

According to the South Operational Command, russia has 16 ships on combat duty in the Black Sea, including four missile carriers and four large amphibious ships.

Graffiti dedicated to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appeared at station 13 of the Big Fountain in Odesa, painted by artist and designer Vadym Luhovtsov on the wall of a beach club near the sea coast. The inscription below the portrait reads in English: “Zelensky was here”.

Oleksandr Yakovenko, a businessman from Odesa and founder of the Volna 91 charity foundation, announced the creation of a factory to produce drones and anti-drone equipment together with the National Guard of Ukraine. The factory produces about 1000 thousand drones per month. The production range consists of three types of drones. Kamikaze drones (FPV) worth 200 USD, operating at a distance of 6-8 km with a payload of 1 kg. Heavy bombing drones, worth 1000 USD, which have a payload of 3 kg. Super Light Delector Drones, which cost 50 USD and help infantry in urban battles to conduct quarterly reconnaissance. Special training for military drone control is envisaged.

Kherson oblast

According to the  Kherson RMA, the enemy fired 78 times at Kherson region, launching 358 shells from heavy artillery and Grad multiple rocket launchers. The enemy shelled Kherson 11 times. During these attacks, 67 shells hit residential areas, private and apartment buildings, and the territory of an enterprise. There are casualties among the civilian population: one person was killed and three people were wounded, the Military Administration reported.

According to the Kherson Military District Administration, the russian army attacked the village of Poniativka in the Daryivka community with mortars, killing three civilians: a woman and her two minor children.

In the village of Davydiv Brid, a 36-year-old local resident was collecting dry firewood in a forest and stepped on an unidentified explosive device that detonated. The man was hospitalized with a mine-blast injury and traumatic amputation of his lower limb.

According to the report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers are using the civilian population of Nova Kakhovka, Kherson oblast, as a human shield. The invaders are deploying air defense forces in residential areas of the city to shoot down munitions intended for enemy military targets. They endanger the local population.

More than a hundred volunteers and a pastor from Sarny district rebuilt the village of Oleksandrivka in Kherson oblast. Together they managed to repair 29 houses.

Almost half a million hryvnias for an anti-drone rifle was raised in 1.5 months by Kateryna Ukrainets from Kakhovka, the wife of Vladyslav Ukrainets, the Hero of Ukraine who died during the battle for Antonivskyi Bridge. The weapon was needed for the soldiers of the 193rd Battalion of the Ukrainian Army’s Specialized Defense Forces. Her father and fellow countrymen serve in the battalion.

Zakarpattia oblast

Zakarpattia rescuers met an evacuation train with 7 families from the east of Ukraine. The oldest woman is 81 years old, and the youngest is not even a month old.

Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister, announced that Zakarpattia regional business relocation support projects are among the best and most effective in Ukraine.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Ruslan Savchuk, chief state sanitary medic of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast announced that the regional center for disease control and prevention sent 20 generators to medical institutions of Mykolayiv and Chernihiv oblasts.

Lviv oblast

A congress of local and regional authorities was held in Lviv. They discussed the security and humanitarian situation, plans to restore the energy infrastructure, etc.

The Ministry of Reintegration reported that since the war began, 800 enterprises have moved to the western oblasts of Ukraine under the relocation program. Every fourth relocated business moved to Lviv.

Jonas Andersen Sayed, Mayor of the Sokndal commune in Norway, visited the Pidkamin community of the Zolochiv region. Further cooperation was discussed.

The RMA reported that the Kalusa Hospital received 250 sets of medical clothes (suits for doctors) thanks to the public organization Institute of Social Initiatives, the CF Together for Ukraine.

Defenders from the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo received 20 cars from citizens of Great Britain, who organized a flash mob Donate a Car for the Army of Ukraine in their country.

In the Obroshyn community of Lviv district, fifteen children aged 6-16 received laptops, tablets, headphones and backpacks as part of the “Notebooks for Youth” project. It is implemented by the CF Ukrainian Educational Platform in partnership with the NGO Our Space of Action.

RMA reported that Olena Zelenska, together with the team of her Foundation, visited a family-type orphanage in Lviv oblast and handed over humanitarian aid.

Rivne oblast

Yana Berezko, a student from Ostroh, won the grand prize at the international talent competition. She sang about Ukraine in sign language.

Ternopil oblast

Ternopil oblast received 10 new general-purpose fire engines on the ISUZU chassis. They were purchased using budget funds for the needs of the units of the Regional Emergency Service.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The oblast received 500 camping beds for the needs of IDPs provided with the assistance of the Ministry of Reintegration.

The RMA reported that 100 m3 of timber materials were sent from the oblast to the military of Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

Chernivtsi oblast

In Chernivtsi oblast, a new road crossing point of the border with Romania Diakivets – Rakovets began to operate. It works around the clock. The planned daily capacity is up to 300 cars, 10 buses, 1 550 people, including 500 pedestrians.

Wayne Eyre, Chief of Defense Staff of the Armed Forces of Canada, visited Ukraine and met with Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They discussed the supply of military aid, namely weapons and ammunition.

Two Ukrainian pilots arrived in the US for training on F-16 fighter simulators.

Vadym Prystaiko, Ambassador of Ukraine in London, announced that Britain will send twice as many Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine as promised earlier.

Mevlut Cavusoglu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, stated that Turkey is working on  continuation of the “grain agreement”.

The President of the European Parliament called for strengthening of sanctions against the russian federation, mentioning diamonds. “There are still gaps in the measures taken following russian invasion of Ukraine, and there are countries abusing these gaps,” said Roberta Metsola.

Next week, the Vilnius City Council will discuss the renaming of the Alexander Pushkin Literary Museum to the Markuciai Manor Museum. The city authorities claim that the purpose of renaming is to return the historical name to the museum.
