It has been the 468th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:

Russian troops carried out 6 missile strikes, including the cities of Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, and Kherson. In addition, they launched 25 airstrikes and over 20 MLRS attacks. Private residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

Ukraine is still under the threat of missile and air strikes. 

The russian army continues to concentrate its main efforts on conducting offensive operations towards Bakhmut and Mariinka. Heavy fighting is taking place for the cities of Bakhmut and Mariinka. Overall, the russian army carried out more than 30 attacks.

No signs of formation of russian military units  have been detected towards Volyn and Polissia. In the training grounds of Belarus, they are training russian territorial defense units.

Towards Siversk and Sloboda, the russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas with Ukraine. Russian military carried out air strikes on the residential areas of Zarichchia, Leonivka, and Krasnyi Khutir i Chernihiv region. Russian soldiers also conducted mortar and artillery shelling of the populated areas of Zaliznyi Most, Leonivka, Chernihiv oblast; Rivne, Boiaro-Lezhachi, Volfyne, Sumy oblast, as well as Lemyshchene, Hraniv, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Lukyantsi, Neskuhne, Staritsia, Vovchanske Khutory, Okhrimivka, Chorne and Khatne, Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, russian soldiers conducted unsuccessful offensive actions near the settlement of Synkivka. Krasne Pershe, Dvorychna, Zapadne, Synkivka, Pishchane, Vyshneve, and Stelmakhivka, Kharkiv oblast  were shelled with artillery and mortar.

Towards Lyman, the russian army is searching for weak spots in Ukrainian  defense. They carried out offensive actions towards Bilyhorivka and Spivne but did not succeed. Makiiivka and Nevske, Luhansk oblast and Bilyhorivka and Spivne, Donetsk oblast were struck with artillery.

Towrwds Bakhmut, the russian army continues offensive actions. Fighting is ongoing in the city of Bakhmut. Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensive actions towards Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Predtechyne, and New York. VeSele, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Hryhorivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultsine, Pivdenne, Toretsk, Pivnichne, and New York, Donetsk oblast were hit with tussian shelling.

Towards Avdiivka, russian troops did not carry out offensive actions. They shelled the populated areas of Berdychiv, Avdiivka, Siverske, Karlivka, Netailove, and Pervomaiske in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Mariinka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled numerous russian attacks in the area of the city of Marinka. At the same time, the populated areas of Heorhiivka and Pobieda, Donetsk oblast were shelled by the Russian army.   

Towards Shakhtarsk, the russian army did not carry out offensive actions. They shelled Vodyane, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, and Zolota Niva, Donetsk oblast. Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the Russian army is on the defensive. They shelled populated areas near the front line. Specifically, these are Burlatske, Vilne Pole, Novopillia in the Donetsk region; Olhivske, Malynivka, Huliaypole, Charivne, Bilohirya, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Kamyanske in Zaporizhzhia region; Zolota Balka, Antonivka in Kherson region, and the city of Kherson.

Russian troops continue to loot Ukrainian citizens and enterprises in the temporarily occupied territories. As of May 5th, in Energodar, there was not a single passenger car left on the territory of the “Electropivdenmontazh-10” enterprise. The warehouse was looted, and machine tools were also taken away.

There is increasingly frequent information about the low level of morale and psychological state of russian personnel. For example, RmRussian commanders openly call subordinates “cannon fodder” in one of the units of the Russian occupation forces located in the village of Mulino in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In addition, military personnel complain about unsatisfactory medical support, as well as provision of personal protective equipment and gear. About 50% of personnel do not have the opportunity to issue payment cards and are afraid that in case of their death, their money will not reach their families.

Ukrainian Aviation carried out 5 strikes on areas where russian personnel and military equipment were concentrated, as well as a strike on Russian anti-aircraft missile system during the day.

Rocket and artillery units hit a command post, 3 areas where russian weapons and military equipment were concentrated, as well as an artillery unit in a firing position during the day.


An urgent meeting of the National Security and Defense Council was held due to the detonation of the Kakhovskaya HPP by the russian occupiers on the night of June 6. About 80 settlements are in the flooding zone. The President of Ukraine instructed the government to evacuate civilians from the risk areas and provide drinking water to all cities and villages that were supplied with water from the Kakhovka Reservoir. A set of international and security measures to hold russia accountable for the terrorist attack was also agreed upon.

Since the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine began, 541 objects of cultural infrastructure have been destroyed. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. About 900 buildings of cultural infrastructure were damaged. Donetsk oblast, Kharkiv oblast, Kherson oblast, Kyiv oblast, Mykolaiv oblast, Luhansk oblast and Zaporizhzhia oblast were the most affected.

Russia is also intensifying information and psychological operations. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Propagandists will spread false information about the counteroffensive, its directions and losses of the Ukrainian army.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops launched an air strike near Ohirtseve and shelled at least 29 settlements in Kharkiv oblast.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the RMA, said he did not exclude new attempts by russia to damage the pipeline in Kupiansk region, which leaked 134 tonnes of ammonia after the shelling on 5 June. According to him, there is no threat to the lives and health of Kupiansk residents.

Kharkiv Mayor, Ihor Terekhov said that last night, the enemy attacked Sloboda and Shevchenkove regions of Kharkiv with S-300 missiles. They hit the car park near the airport and the road surface downtown near the Stina pub, where russia staged a terrorist attack in 2014. Windows were broken in the surrounding buildings, water supply and private cars damaged. There were no casualties. As a result of the russian attack on Kharkiv downtown, a water supply system in Shevchenkove region was damaged. The damage is being fixed.

At around 9 pm, an ammonia pipeline was depressurised in Zapadne village, Kupiansk region, as a result of hostile shelling. At the time of the strike, the ammonia pipeline was blocked, with technological remnants in the pipe. The hit triggered the emergency shut-off valves and ammonia leaked over a 2.3 km section. No additional ammonia leakage has occurred from nearby sections.

As of now, no ammonia has been detected in the air in the suburbs of Kupiansk and the neighbouring villages. Near Masiutivka, the ammonia concentration does not exceed the maximum permissible level. Observations are ongoing. The National Police and the State Emergency Service are informing the population about actions to take in case of exceeding ammonia concentrations in the air.

In Pechenihy, Chuhuiv oblast, a private building was damaged by shelling, killing a 52-year-old woman. A shop building was damaged in Vovchansk.

In Kupiansk region, a medical facility in Kivsharivka was damaged. A 58-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman were hospitalised with injuries in Velykyi Burluk.

A 57-year-old civilian man was killed and 9 people injured as a result of shelling of Balakliia, Izium region, with Smerch MRLs. 6 residential buildings, outbuildings and a car were damaged.

A tractor exploded on an explosive device on the road near Potykhonove village, Kupiansk region. Two people were injured.

Donetsk oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a russian Ka-52 helicopter was shot down towards Shakhtarsk yesterday.

Donetsk police reported that a service station and a civilian car were damaged by a UAV attack in Lyman yesterday and a civilian man was killed in Niu-York city and three buildings and a police car damaged russian artillery attack.

Yesterday, 16 settlements were under russian shelling and 48 civilian objects were damaged.

DTEK Donetsk Power Grids reported that еver the past week, power engineers have restored electricity supply to more than 80,000 families in 93 settlements of Donetsk oblast. Currently, 146 settlements are without power.

Barabash, the head of the Avdiivka City Military Administration informed that russian troops massively shelled Avdiivka Coke Plant, launched an air strike and shelled the old and central parts of the city. There is no information on casualties.

In the evening, russians launched a missile attack on the outskirts of Kramatorsk, without causing any casualties.

Towards Donetsk, Avdiivka was hit by Grad MRLs, shells hit the territory of Avdiivka Coke Plant, 1 person was injured. Kurakhove, Kurakhivka and Hostre in Kurakhove community, Krasnohorivka and Maksymilianivka in Marinka community were shelled.

Towards Horlivka, one person was killed in Niu-York. The enemy dropped two aerial bombs on Toretsk, injuring 3 people and damaging 6 apartment buildings, 8 administrative buildings, 5 commercial premises and a boiler house. Also, 2 buildings in Pivnichne were damaged in the community. In Mykolaivka, Kostiantynivka community, 2 people were injured and 3 buildings damaged; in Ivanopillia, 2 buildings were damaged.

Towards Lysychansk, a building was damaged in Pereizne of Zvanivka community and there was shelling of Torske and Zarichne of Lyman community.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, said that yesterday Russians killed one civilian in Niu-York. Six more people were injured in the region.

Luhansk oblast

The enemy is mercilessly hitting Nevske, where fifty residents still live. In addition to artillery shelling, to which the locals have unfortunately become accustomed, the settlement is also suffering from air strikes, which have become more frequent in recent weeks. Russians launched another one yesterday. The enemy attacked near Bilohorivka. They shelled Novoselivske, Nevske and Bilohorivka with mortars and artillery systems.

Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported that on 3 June, twenty trucks of injured invaders were delivered to a school converted into a field hospital in one of the settlements of Svatove region. In total, about two hundred people are already being treated in the facility.

Residents of Sievierodonetsk, who stayed in the city, suffer from a lack of water. It cannot be called drinkable, although sometimes water is available in the centralised system. It is of unclear quality and for a few hours – according to a schedule, no higher than 2-3 floors and only in certain areas.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

During the night, another massive missile attack took place. According to the preliminary information, X-101/555 cruise missiles were used. Kyiv RMA reported that more than 20 enemy aerial targets were detected and destroyed in the airspace around the capital. As a result of the fall of missile fragments in Desnianskyi district of Kyiv, the road surface and trolleybus power lines were damaged, windows of a shop were smashed. Also, fragments of a russian missile fell on the roof of a private building in Dniprovsky district

According to Kyiv Regional Military Administration, an apartment building, eight private houses, office buildings and a shop were damaged by falling missile fragments in several communities of Kyiv oblast. Moreover, the building of one of the medical institutions in the oblast was damaged, while patients and medical staff were taking shelter there. Several garages and 27 private cars are reported to be damaged, too.

Serhiy Kruk, head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, reported that a group of rescuers and all-terrain vehicles were sent from Kyiv to Kherson oblast to eliminate the consequences of the Kakhovka HPP destruction. Additional forces and equipment have also been deployed: boats, Bogun swampers, floating transporters, generators, mobile water treatment units, and vehicles for the supply of drinking water.

According to Ruslan Kravchenko, head of Kyiv regional administration, Kyiv oblast is ready to host residents of Kherson oblast who ended up in flooded areas after russian terrorists blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam. At the moment, compact housing units for more than 3,000 residents, including for people with limited mobility, have already been prepared.

Vitalyi Klitschko, the City Mayor, reported that Kyiv has offered Kherson assistance through the Association of Ukrainian Cities and has already received information about the most urgent needs from the Kherson regional office. Motor pumps and boats, as well as food and drinking water can be provided at short notice. Besides, the capital will host 100 children from Kherson and provide them with health improvement in children’s camps.

According to Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Kyivska HPP is located in the area of responsibility of the Kyiv defence forces and is protected from air strikes and enemy sabotage and reconnaissance forces.

Representatives of Kyivvodokanal reported that the situation with the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP dam and water discharge from the Kakhovka reservoir will not affect the water supply in Kyiv. The situation with water supply in the capital remains stable, all water supply facilities are operating in normal mode.

Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Special Envoy of Pope Francis, visited Bucha on 5 June. The Kyiv Regional Administration reported that this is the first visit of the Pope’s peace envoy to Ukraine, during which he witnessed first-hand the high price that Ukrainians pay for freedom and peace in the world. In particular, the delegation visited the Church of St Andrew the First-Called in Bucha, where 119 civilians were buried during the occupation.

Misha Collins, United24 ambassador, visited the Irpin forest in Kyiv oblast, which has only recently been cleared of mines. 15,000 russian troops, ammunition depots, and artillery units from which Irpin and nearby villages were shelled were located in this forest. As a reminder, the Supernatural star became an ambassador for Humanitarian Demining.

On June 5, a film about the persecution of journalists in the russian-occupied territories premiered in Kyiv. The Slidstvo.info team, in cooperation with the Institute of Mass Media, created the documentary film titled Occupation: The Price of Truth. It tells the story of Ukrainian journalists who faced occupation during the active hostility phase and were subjected to abuse by the russian military due to their work – they were killed or abducted, taken prisoner or tortured.

Zhytomyr oblast

Kherson oblast will receive subvention for the total amount of UAH 1 million from Zhytomyr. This decision was adopted during an extraordinary session of the Zhytomyr City Council. Besides, the flooded communities of Kherson oblast will receive a high-powered pump and 80 motor pumps, as well as food and drinking water.

The regional military administration reported. As of today, 1,407 simple shelters have been prepared in the oblast, where more than 326,000 people can be accommodated. In Zhytomyr, 717 simple shelters were cleared, repaired and prepared; around 264,000 people can be hosted there. In total, the available number of protective structures of all types allows to shelter 61% of the population.

The RMA reported that as of June 6, 64,725 internally displaced persons, including 18,223 children, are living in Zhytomyr oblast. The majority of IDPs came to the oblast from Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

Nearly a ton of medicines was delivered from Poland for the soldiers who are being treated in a hospital of Zhytomyr oblast. In particular, Malgorzata Goszczewska, Vice Marshal of the Polish Sejm, handed over painkillers, immune system drugs, and antipyretics to the medical institution.

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reported that last night the invaders shelled 8 communities of Sumy oblast launching 94 strikes. Among the affected areas are the Bilopillia, Velyka Pysarivka, Druzhba, Krasnopillia, Myropillia, Nova Sloboda, Shaluhine, and Khotin communities. The enemy used artillery and mortars, as well as dropped 4 VOG munitions. In Velyka Pysarivka region, an administrative building and power lines were damaged due to the shelling.Another power grid was damaged by russian strikes in Druzhba community.

At night and in the morning, the russian army continued to shell the border areas of Sumy oblast. According to Sumy RMA, there were 13 explosions in three territorial communities. The enemy fired 6 mortar bombs at the Bilopil community, 2 – at the Shalyhine community, and 5 more fell on the territory of Seredyno-Buda.

Sumy Animal Protection Society announced that Sumy city will take in animals affected by the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant. Currently, Sumy volunteers are looking for places to accommodate animals that ended up in danger after the russians blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and flooded the area.

Okhtyrka will receive wheelchairs, crutches, and walkers for the elderly and other people with mobility issues due to injuries or illnesses. The aid came from the Allies of the World Foundation, making it the fifth time this organization has provided humanitarian assistance to Okhtyrka. 

Chernihiv oblast

The spokesperson of Chernihiv Border Guard Unit Halyna Shekhovtseva informed that last night the enemy shelled the border areas of Chernihiv oblast with barrel artillery and grenade launchers. There were 15 strikes from barrel artillery in the village of Zarichchia of Semenivka community, the same number of strikes were heard in Oleksandrivka: a private house caught fire and four outbuildings were damaged. Also, during the shelling of the village, a person was wounded, and three residential buildings, a shop, and a school were partially destroyed. A little later, the russian military launched 8 attacks from AGS grenade launcher at the village of Hremyach in Novhorod-Siverskiy region.

In the morning, the invaders fired at 4 settlements in Chernihiv oblast using barrel artillery and mortars. This was reported by the ‘North’ Operational Command. 5 munitions exploded in the village of Kamyanka. Also, 3 villages of the Semenivka community were under fire: 3 mortar explosions were heard in Karpovychi, 7 in Medvedivka, and the same number in Tymonovychi.

With the help of philanthropists, three school shelters have been opened in Chernihiv oblast, which have also become educational centres. Assistance was provided by the SavED charity initiative and German foundations AWO International and Aktion Deutschland Hilft. The shelters, equipped with comfortable furniture and laptops from our Japanese partners, were established in the settlements that have survived the russian occupation – in Horodnia Town, Anysiv and Kolychivka villages.

The Chernihiv City Council reported that Chernihiv prepares to receive and accommodate residents of Kherson oblast who have been evacuated. On June 6, the Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety in Chernihiv oblast held a meeting on the accommodation of residents of Kherson oblast affected by the man-made natural disaster due to the Kakhovka HPP being blown up by the russian army.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Nikopol region suffered five attacks during the night.  The enemy shelled the Myrove community using Grad rocket launchers, and the Chervonohryhorivka community and Nikopol with heavy artillery. In Nikopol, five high-rise buildings, a playground, a car and a gas pipeline were damaged. There were no casualties. The aggressor also launched drones at the Nikopol region. But the attack failed thanks to the defenders from the East military command. The defenders shot down two Shaheds and a cruise missile over the oblast at night.

At night, russians blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. The water level is falling at a rate of approximately 15 cm per hour. Residents of Pokrov, Nikopol, and Marhanets are asked to stock up on water. The administration of the Pokrovvodokanal utility company asked the residents of Pokrov not to use water for irrigation and to stockpile water for three days.

The destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station in Kryvyi Rih has caused problems with the water supply. As for the restrictions for the population, water pressure will be reduced from 22:00 to 05:00. This means that at this time, water will only reach the first floors of buildings.

 GMK Center reported that “ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has suspended steelmaking and rolled steel production to reduce water consumption in critical conditions. Due to the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station by the aggressor, the plant has limited water consumption and has already put a number of steelmaking processes on hold. Virtually all water-cooled equipment has been temporarily suspended, so the company will preserve production units and reduce water consumption until the situation returns to normal.

Vinnytsia oblast

Vinnytsia is ready to accommodate residents from the areas where russians caused the environmental disaster. The Vinnytsia Regional Council also held an emergency meeting of the Interregional Humanitarian Coordination Centre to use all maximum resources to help the victims.

Ukrainian language textbook for 6th graders at the front was written by teacher and defender from Vinnytsia Taras Tkachuk, pseudonym “Docent”, in co-authorship with his colleague Anastasia Onatii. The book received 40,000 votes and is now to be published at public expense.

Since 5 June, 27 school camps have been operating in Vinnytsia. 25 of them are based at city lyceums. Each institution has a safe shelter to ensure that children are safe in case of an alert. In total, the children will stay at the school camps until 22 June. Almost 4,500 young Vinnytsia residents will visit the camps during this time.

Kirovohrad oblast

Kirovohrad region can accommodate 5,000 residents of Kherson oblast evacuated due to the Russian blowing up of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.

Poltava oblast

Rescuers and law enforcement officers from Poltava oblast joined the rescue and relief operations and sent equipment and personnel to Kherson oblast to help overcome the consequences of the occupiers’ blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. The Poltava region is ready to receive evacuees. Currently, there is accommodation in schools and other institutions in various communities prepared to accommodate 6,000 people. The oblast is also collecting water and humanitarian aid. 

A park is being set up in Kremenchuk to commemorate the victims of the russian missile attack on the Amstor shopping centre. There are 22 trees planted there, each symbolising the casualties.

Cherkasy oblast

Cherkasy oblast is preparing places to receive evacuees from Kherson oblast in case of necessity. There is no threat of flooding in the region as a result of the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, as the region is located upstream of the Dnipro River. The water level in the Kremenchuk reservoir remains unchanged compared to the previous day. Rescuers from Cherkasy have already left to assist their Kherson colleagues.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, yesterday 5 June, russian troops shelled the frontline settlements 79 times. Olhivske, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Novoandriivka, Charivne, Chervone, Bilohiria, Poltavka, Huliaipilske, Temyrivtsi, Shcherbaky, Malynivka, Verkhnii Tersi, Stepove, Kamianske and Plavni were under enemy attack.

The IAEA experts, present at Zaporizhzhia NPP, said that there is currently no risk to the nuclear safety of the plant due to russia’s explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. IAEA General Director Grossi announced that he had scheduled a visit to ZNPP for next week. He added that the water pumped to the plant via the main route should be enough for several days. There are also alternative water sources. The main one is the cooling pond, which can provide ZNPP with water for several more months.

Yurii Malashko, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration reported that ZNPP is operating in normal mode. There are no problems with drinking water in Zaporizhzhia and the radiation background is normal. The first wave was the most severe, the second wave of water decline will be observed in 2 days.

Ivan Fedorov, Melitopol Mayor informed that it is currently impossible to predict the aftermath of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam blowing up for Zaporizhzhia oblast. However, it could lead to an environmental disaster in the south of the region.

Mykolaiv oblast

A water level increased by 23 centimeters in Mykolaiv waters due to a nighttime sabotage by the criminal army of the russian federation at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station. As of today at 16:00, no further increase in the water level has been observed. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that during a meeting of the State Agency for Water Resources, 120 million hryvnias were allocated for the sustainable provision of drinking water to the residents of Mykolaiv.

All Mykolaiv services are ready to assist the residents of Kherson oblast. According to Mykolaiv RMA evacuation buses and routes have been deployed.

The evacuation train, which was designated due to the russian sabotage at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, has arrived from Kherson to Mykolaiv. No flights in the region have been canceled or delayed. “Ukrzaliznytsia is ready to schedule additional evacuation trains if necessary. The Ukrzaliznytsia press service reported that currently they continue to monitor the situation in Kherson oblast and adhere to the schedule.

Mykolaiv volunteers are producing modular camouflage suits. Defense Forces personnel will be able to independently change the color and structure of their camouflage, adapting it to the local vegetation and surroundings.

Odesa oblast

Odesa oblast is preparing to accommodate people who will be evacuated from Kherson oblast following the sabotage of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station by the russian army. Iurii Kruk, the head of the RMA, announced today at a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center in Odesa that there are already 1,100 places ready for temporary accommodation in the Odesa region. In total, up to 3,300 people can be accommodated in educational institutions and private houses throughout Odesa oblast. Odesa volunteers departured to Mykolaiv to provide food and water to the evacuated residents of Kherson.

Odesa Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) has condemned the dam explosion at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station. Temporary shelters for all those affected by the floods are being organized in the churches and monasteries of the Odesa Eparchy of the UOC. A shelter for displaced persons is already operating on the territory of the Odesa Holy Archangel Michael Women’s Monastery of the UOC.

The ecosystem of the Black Sea is under threat due to the actions of russian terrorists who detonated the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station last night. According to environmentalists’ predictions, the consequences will be devastating. Not only Ukraine will be affected, but also other countries bordering the Black Sea, such as Romania, Bulgaria, and Turkey.

Kherson oblast

On the night of 6 June, the russian military blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station.  The “South” Operational Command reported that the scale of  destruction, the speed and volume of water, and the likely areas of flooding are currently being clarified; it is obvious that this is the largest environmental disaster in Europe.

The military administration and all services, including the State Emergency Service and the police, were put on alert at 5 am. A commission for techno-environmental safety and emergency situations was set up and tasks were assigned. A special headquarters has been set up in each community, which is responsible for its territory.

As of 07:30, the settlements of Tiahynka, Lvove, Odradokamyanka in Beryslav region, Ivanivka, Mykilske Tokarivka, Ponyativka, Bilozerka, and the Ostrov district of Kherson in Kherson region are completely or partially flooded. About 16,000 people on the right bank of the Kherson region are in the critical zone. The water is supposed to arise by the morning of 7 June.

The evacuation of the residents of these settlements was organised by bus to Kherson, then to Mykolaiv and from there to Khmelnytskyi, Odesa, Kropyvnytskyi, Kyiv and other cities. At 12.00 a.m., an evacuation train left Kherson for Mykolaiv from the railway station.

Kherson Regional State Administration reported that evacuation is ongoing due to flooding. More than 1,360 people have been evacuated from one of the most affected areas, the Korabel district in Kherson, which is located on the island part of the city. 

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant did not affect Ukraine’s ability to de-occupy its own territories. He added that, according to intelligence, the explosion was deliberate, and the russian military let their own equipment flood because they acted “chaotically”. For over a year now, russia has been controlling both the dam and the entire Kakhovka hydroelectric power station. It is physically impossible to blow it up from the outside by shelling. It was mined and blown up by the russian occupiers.

Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine,  stated that there is evidence that the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station was destroyed by the use of explosives. 

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine is urging residents in the flooded area of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station to be careful due to the threat of explosive devices floating in the water. 

Residents of the Kherson Oblast who decide to evacuate to safer regions can receive financial assistance from the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). Registration for the payments will take place at the railway station in Kherson and the bus station in Mykolaiv.  DRC representatives will be present at each station, wearing a vest with the organisation’s logo and holding a banner.  To register, all you need to bring is your passport and individual tax number. Free legal advice will also be available at the place of registration for financial assistance.

Volyn oblast

Relatives of defender of Ukraine Vitalii Stadnyk (Andrii Domanskyi) from Shatsk erected a memorial sign at the place of the soldier’s death – in the village of Sytnyaki, in Kyiv oblast. The 38-year-old soldier was killed on March 15, 2022, defending Ukraine from the russian federation. Together with him, his brother from Prykarpattia, 33-year-old Petro Danyliuk, was killed during mortar shelling. A memorial sign to the defenders of Ukraine was erected in Slava Park, not far from the place where the fighters fought their last battle, in order to preserve the memory of their feat for future generations.

Zakarpattia oblast

Viktor Mykyta, head of the RMA, on a working visit to Lviv oblast. On the agenda is to study the experience of colleagues regarding the implementation of sanaviation. Police and medical aviation is another infrastructure project, the implementation of which is starting in Zakarpattia.

In Imstychev, housing for families with children was built on the basis of the former outpatient clinic. Over 40 IDPs will be able to settle in the new shelter.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Terre des hommes Swiss CF. A project to strengthen the protection of IDP children, which will be implemented jointly with the Yellow Blue Wings was discussed.

Lviv oblast

Sambir rescuers, with the support of their colleagues from Germany, sent a fire truck for the needs of Biskovytsk community. The vehicle will reinforce two local fire brigades.

The RMA reported that during the We are with you, Soldiers charity concert in Murovan district of Lviv, over UAH 150K were collected for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Heroes of Ukraine of all times were honored in Yavorov near the memorial plaque to the fighters for the freedom of Ukraine, Hnat Sas and Mykhailo Varholiak. After the prayer, there was a walk to the monument of the Ukrainian Sich riflemen.

Rivne oblast

The RMA held a meeting regarding the situation with the undermining of Kakhovka HPP structures. Various scenarios regarding assistance to the population were considered and a set of measures was agreed upon.

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of the Czech Republic from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Lviv and businessmen. The nearest plans of Ukrainian-Czech cooperation and the prospects of insurance against military risks of investments of foreign companies in Ukraine were discussed.

A 45th Safety Classroom in Rivne oblast was opened at Zoriansk Lyceum. The Safety Classroom is divided into thematic areas. All locations are interactive, equipped with informational materials, models and inventory.

23 employees of Rivneoblenergo returned from the regular shift from Beryslav region, Kherson oblast. The regional energy engineers continue to restore the energy infrastructure of Ukraine in liberated oblasts. In total, since October of last year, they have helped to restore electricity supply to over 40 settlements in Kherson oblast.

Ternopil oblast

The Fifth coordination meeting with humanitarian partners was held in Ternopil. The key goal of the event is to continue joint work towards the integration of IDPs into the communities of the oblast.

The RMA reported that 50 tonnes of drinking water were sent from the oblast to Kherson oblast. The work of the Coordination Center for the support of the civilian population was also launched. He will be responsible for humanitarian aid, settlement and medical assistance.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A drone bomber was sent to the military at the front from the Heart of the Ukrainian Nation CF.

On the border of Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi oblasts, a camp was opened for the fifth time at the Podilskyi-Volhynia Divide. This is a children’s camp, where volunteers will tell children about mine safety, organize sports competitions and excursions.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA reported that there are about 2K free places for IDPs in Bukovina. Work is also underway to prepare reserve seats that can be deployed in case of need. 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic reported that the Ukroboronprom Ukrainian state concern and the VOP CZ Czech arms company have agreed on the joint repair of T-64 tanks.

The Ministry of Defense of Moldova reported that the country organizes a several-week training for the Ukrainian military on the disposal of explosive devices.

The IAEA responded to the damage to the dam of Kakhovka Reservoir. They stated that the organization’s experts at the Zaporizhzhia NPP are closely monitoring the situation – there is no direct risk to the plant now.

Olaf Scholz, Chancellor of Germany, called the blowing up of Kakhovka HPP dam “a new dimension of the russian war.” During the European Forum, Scholz emphasized that “it fits perfectly with the way putin is waging this war.”

Jan Lipavsky, Head of the Czech Foreign Ministry, accused russia of undermining the Kakhovka HPP dam and stated that the consequences of this could be compared to the use of weapons of mass destruction.

“russia destroyed the dam near Novaya Kakhovka. For the russians, this seemed to be the only way to stop the Ukrainian forces in the south (we’ll see about that later),” said Arvydas Anushauskas, Lithuanian Defense Minister. However, according to the head of the Lithuanian Defense Ministry, the consequences of this can be much more serious.

During her visit to Sweden, Oksana Zholnovych, Minister of Social Policy met with Ukrainian military personnel who are in the country for rehabilitation.
