War in Ukraine today: latest news, January 5, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 316th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:

To maintain the offensive potential and replenish losses, the enemy continues to conduct mobilization measures.

The enemy launched 8 airstrikes and over 10 MLRS attacks.

The territory of Ukraine is still under the threat of air and missile strikes on critical infrastructure.

Russian invaders focus their efforts on fully occupying Donetsk oblast. They are conducting offensive operations towards Bakhmut and Lyman.

The enemy is unsuccessfully trying to improve the tactical position towards Kupiansk and Avdiivka. They are on the defensive towards Novopavlivka, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson.

There are no significant changes towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda. There were no signs of forming enemy offensive groups. At the same time, the invaders are shelling the positions of our troops and civilian facilities along the entire front line.

Towards Sloboda, Starytsia, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Ustynivka, and Fiholivka, Kharkiv oblast were shelled.

Towards Kupiansk, Dvorichna, Vilshana, Kupiansk, Kislivka, Kotliarivka, Krokhmalne and Berestove, Kharkiv oblast and Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk oblast were hit.

Towards Kherson, the enemy is terrorizing the civilian population. Russian artillery hit the civilian infrastructure and incurred injuries to civilians in Chornobaivka and Kherson.

Russian military and political leadership is taking measures to prevent the mass departure of men of conscription age abroad before the next wave of mobilization, expected in January this year. A complete ban on crossing the state border for men of conscription age is not excluded.

Forced passporting of the population in the temporarily occupied and occupied territories of Luhansk oblast continues. Thus, banking institutions in the occupied region require russian passports to issue payment cards.

Ukrainian aviation launched 15 air strikes on enemy concentration areas, as well as 3 strikes on the positions of its anti-aircraft missile systems.

They failed to do it using military methods and other strategies. So they are using information tricks.” he added.
