War in Ukraine today: latest news, January 24, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 335th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6pm:   

The enemy launched 5 missile strikes on civilian targets in the city of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk oblast, and 13 air strikes. There were also more than 10 MLRS attacks. 

There remains a threat of russian air and missile strikes throughout Ukraine.

The enemy continues to conduct offensive operations towards Bakhmut, suffering numerous losses. Towards Lyman and Avdiivka, he led unsuccessful offensive actions, all enemy attacks being repulsed.

Towards Kupiansk, Novopavlivka, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the russian occupiers are on the defensive.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda, there were significant changes, no offensive groups of the enemy were found.

The enemy does not stop shelling settlements along the contact line. Tank, mortar and artillery shelling was carried out in areas of more than 30 settlements, namely Huta-Studenetska, Buchky and Mikhalchyna Sloboda of Chernihiv oblast; Novovasylivka, Sopych, Kucherivka, Studenok, Kozache, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Stukalivka, Vorozhba, Volfine, Yunakivka, Sumy oblast, as well as Basove, Huriv Kozachok, Veterynarne, Vesele, Vovchansk, Varvarivka and Hryhorivka of Kharkiv oblast. 

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy shelled the settlements of Dvorichna, Hrianykivka, Kyslivka, Berestove, Kharkiv oblast, as well as Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, Luhansk oblast.

Towards Lyman, the enemy shelled the settlements of Makiivka, Ploschanka, Chervonopopivka, Terny and Yampolivka in Luhansk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut, more than 20 settlements suffered fire damage from tanks and the entire range of artillery, namely Spirne, Berestove, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Klischiivka, Kurdiumivka, Druzhba, Maiorsk, Niu York, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Avdiivka, the settlements of Novobakhmutivka, Orlivka, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka, Novomykhailivka and Mykhailivka of Donetsk oblast came under enemy fire.

Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy fired from tanks, mortars, barreled and rocket artillery in the areas of Novoukrainka, Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Neskuchne and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, more than 20 settlements suffered from tank and artillery fire, namely Vremivka, Vilne Pole, Novosilka, Novopil in Donetsk oblast, as well as Olhivske, Malinovka, Huliaipilske, Bilohiria, Novodanylivka and Vesele of Zaporizhzhia oblast.

Towards Kherson, the occupiers continue to shell the civilian population. Havrylivka, Dudchany, Kachkarivka, Zmiivka, Vesele, Burhunka, Antonivka, Dniprovske, Kherson oblast and the city of Kherson were shelled from multiple rocket launchers, barreled artillery and mortars.

In the temporarily occupied territories of the Ukrainian Crimea, the russian federation continues measures of covert mobilization at the expense of local residents – citizens of Ukraine. In particular, in the city of Sevastopol, from January 20, 2023, the russian military commissariats have been assigned the task of replenishing russia’s losses in the so-called ‘special military operation’ at the expense of local civilians from units of the Black Sea Fleet. All civilian workers must fill out forms where they indicate information about the military rank in the reserve and the presence of a driver’s license.

The russian occupiers continue to suffer enormous losses in battles by the Defense Forces of Ukraine. More than 450 wounded occupiers are being treated in the city hospital of the occupied city of Dniprorudne, Zaporizhzhia oblast. Also overflowing with wounded Russian occupiers, the Vasylivka region hospital of Zaporozhzhia oblast.

Aviation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine inflicted 8 strikes on buildups of enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment, as well as 3 strikes on the positions of the enemy’s anti-aircraft missile systems.

Units of the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 30 minutes destroyed 3 russian attack helicopters Ka-52, which were performing tasks in the area of Evhenievka, Volnovakha region, Donetsk oblast. Also, in the area of Bakhmut, Ukrainian defenders shot down a russian Su-25.

Units of the missile forces and artillery of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in a day hit 8 buildups of the occupiers.

Representative of the government in the parliament Taras Melnychuk reported that the Cabinet of Ministers decided to dismiss 6 deputy ministers and 5 heads of regional military administrations. It was agreed to dismiss Valentyn Reznichenko from the post of Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration; Oleksandr Starukh from the post of Head of Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Oleksii Kuleba from the post of Head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration; Dmytro Zhyvytskyi from the post of Head of the Sumy Regional State Administration, Yaroslav Yanushevych from the post of Head of the Kherson regional state administration.

People’s Deputy and Chairman of the Committee on Culture, Science, Education and Media in the PACE Yevhenia Kravchuk said that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe actually recognized that russian aggression began in 2014. Thus, an important amendment was made to the resolution Sexual Violence in Times of Conflict, which actually recognizes the beginning of russian aggression in February 2014.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at least 20 settlements were under attack. The invaders are on the defensive towards Kupiansk. During the day, russia shelled at least 11 settlements.

Kharkiv Mayor, Ihor Terekhov, stated that 150 K residents were left without homes as a result of the war. According to him, about 40 buildings are currently being restored and 66 have already been repaired.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported about the meeting with Government Commissioner for Gender Policy of Ukraine, Kateryna Levchenko, and Deputy Representative of UNPFA, the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine, Pavlo Zamostian. Also, together with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, they inspected one of the Invincibility Centres on the territory of the Kharkiv Humanitarian and Pedagogical Academy.

Head of the Lyptsi Rural Military Administration, Oleksii Slabchenko, reported about shelling with artillery. Two civilians were injured: a 59-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman. Both were hospitalised with shrapnel wounds. Their condition was moderate. The casualties were volunteers who were delivering humanitarian aid to Lyptsi.

In addition, the enemy attacked Strilecha settlement with mortars and artillery. There were no casualties.

In the morning the enemy struck Kupiansk again. Residential buildings were hit and large-scale fires broke out. Information about destruction and casualties is being updated.

Yesterday the enemy launched massive shelling of border settlements in Chuhuiv, Kharkiv and Kupiansk districts.

In Vovchansk, Chuhuiv region, residential buildings, civilian industry and infrastructure facilities were damaged as a result of shelling. In Vovchanski Khutory village, a rocket attack destroyed an educational institution and a house of culture.

In Hatyshche village, Chuhuiv region, civilian industrial facilities were damaged and fires broke out.

A 52-year-old man was injured in Vovchansk. He was hospitalised in moderate condition.

Press service of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration reported that medical institutions in Kharkiv and the region received generators with a capacity of 3 to 8 kW. They were transferred to the region by the United Arab Emirates and the UAIM Charitable Foundation. Deputy director of the Health Department of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Ihor Volchenko, said that 89 generators will be distributed among the region’s healthcare institutions.

Donetsk oblast

State Border Guard Service reported that Ukrainian border guards repelled russian assault attack towards Bakhmut. Russian troops failed to break through the defence line. In the battle, 8 russian soldiers were eliminated and 13 others injured.

Referring to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian troops shot down a russian attack aircraft near Bakhmut.

The invaders attacked 30 times, shelling 14 settlements. As a result, 14 residential buildings, a school, a farm, a factory workshop, a power line, a gas pipeline and a garage were damaged and destroyed.

Head of the Kostiantynivka City Military Administration, Oleksii Roslov, informed about shelling, injuring 4 people, including 2 children. All the injured were provided with medical aid, their health condition is currently satisfactory. As a result of shelling, windows in apartment buildings were broken and apartments damaged. Residents are already receiving the necessary assistance: tape and construction materials for quick repairs. For the second time in a day, the invaders shelled Kostiantynivka at around 2 pm.

One person was killed and two injured as a result of russian shelling of Chasiv Yar. The invaders hit a residential area with multiple rocket launchers, damaged at least 9 apartment buildings and cut off the electricity and gas supply to the district. In fact, the entire district was left without electricity and heat.

Yesterday afternoon, russians launched a missile attack on Kramatorsk, hitting an industrial area. A private building was also damaged. There were no casualties. Another missile hit a school in Iverske, Novodonetsk community.

Towards Volnovakha, russians launched 5 missile attacks on Velyka Novosilka community: 1 on Bahatyr  and 4 on Rozlyv. A building was damaged in Bahatyr. In addition, there was shelling of Bohoiavlenka, Novoukrainka and Vuhledar, no casualties.

Towards Donetsk, the situation was the most intense in Avdiivka: there were five artillery attacks and six Grad MRLs attacks. One person was injured in Kurakhove. There were periodic attacks in Marinka and Ocheretyne communities. There were no casualties.

Towards Horlivka, 1 person was killed and 2 injured in Chasiv Yar the night before. Another 1 person was killed and school damaged in Paraskoviivka of Soledar community. A building was damaged in Bakhmut.

Towards Lysychansk sector, there were about 20 attacks in Lyman community.

Head of Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, said that yesterday Arussians killed 3 residents in Chasiv Yar, Novopokrovsk and Paraskoviivka. Another 3 people were injured. 

Luhansk oblast

Yesterday Defence Forces units repelled another enemy attacks in Chervonopopivka. Towards Kupiansk, the enemy attacked Andriivka, Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka. Towards Lyman, the enemy targeted Chervonopopivka, Dibrova, Kreminna, Kuzmyne, Makiivka and Ploshchanka.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, informed that the villages near the front line are a trail of ashes. Russians deliberately destroyed building after building. He also noted that the number of russian offensives in Bilohorivka has decreased, but enemy shelling with various types of weapons has not stopped. Near Kreminna and Svatove, russians are throwing their military personnel into battle to try to hold these territories.

Based on the information provided by the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the enemy is using mostly mobilized soldiers. Professional soldiers remain in the rear. Families of the invaders of the 2nd Army Corps are being taken from Luhansk to russian federation, 365 positions: literary and historical publications are being removed from libraries in Luhansk oblast.

Head of Sievierodonetsk City Military Administration, Oleksandr Striuk, residents are surviving, most of the territory is not suitable for living in winter. He added that empty apartments continue to be broken into and occupied by russian servicemen and collaborators from Kreminna and Rubizhne. Prices in stores for certain types of products are twice as high as in Ukraine-controlled territory.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

President of Finland Sauli Niinisto came to Kyiv on an unannounced visit. He met with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and discussed with him the further support of Ukraine in the war. After the personal meeting, the leaders of two countries held a joint briefing for journalists.

On January 23, one of the energy facilities of Kyiv oblast, which is planned to be restored after russian missile strikes, was visited by Polish Ambassador Bartosz Cihotski, Austrian Ambassador Arad Bencko, charge d’affaires of the Netherlands Esselien van Eerten, as well as representatives of the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, Lithuania and South Korea.

The Ministry of Energy reported that to restore energy supply, the oblast received 105 units of energy equipment with a total weight of 90 tons from six European countries. This is equipment of different classes, which will help eliminate heavy damage to this energy facility, caused by rocket strikes of the russian federation.

The British donor Crown Agents and the Ukrainian Women’s Guard (UZHV) provided Borodianka’s critical infrastructure with powerful generators. UZHV with partners from USPP conducted an energy audit of Borodianka community’s needs. British friends from Crown Agents handed over 7 powerful generators to operate boiler houses and support critical infrastructure. The generators will help keep three water towers and sewers running during power outages, as well as power a school, a kindergarten, a hospital and a container town that is home to nearly 400 displaced people.

Kyiv RMA reported that Points of Invincibility of 7 communities of the Kyiv oblast will receive 55 Starlink terminals. Heating points will be provided with communication and uninterrupted access to the Internet with the help of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the partner country of Poland.

The head of Kyiv RMA Oleksiy Kuleba said that’ll work on the arrangement of shelters in schools and kindergartens continues in Kyiv oblast. In total, 1,085 shelters have already been installed in the educational institutions of the oblast – this is 86% of the schools and kindergartens of the region, which can work in full-time or mixed formats.

Kyiv RMA reported that 11 out of 17 residential high-rise buildings in the capital,  which suffered the most in 2022 due to russian shelling, were restored. UAH 407.5 million was allocated from the reserve fund of the city budget for technical examination and restoration of these buildings. Reconstruction of six more high-rise buildings is ongoing.

As of the beginning of January 2023, 121 out of 145 objects of social infrastructure damaged by hostilities have been restored in Kyiv. 57 schools, 28 kindergartens and 46 other educational institutions were renovated.

DTEK reported that electricity in Kyiv was turned off evenly last week, and Kyiv locals had it for an average of 19 hours a day. Stabilization blackouts lasted an average of 5.5 hours on weekdays, and 4.5 hours on weekends.

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reported that on January 27, the capital will host a reading of the book “Get Up After Falling” by public activist, former political prisoner of the kremlin, military officer Gennadiy Afanasyev, who died in the russian-Ukrainian war in December. The basis of the book is his memoirs about his stay in a russian prison, which were published in 2016-2018 by the publication “Krym.Realiya”.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr oblast, the SSU reported suspicion to a native of the aggressor state under the article on encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. The suspect, who lived in Zhytomyr, regularly spread anti-state pro-russian content on his personal page in one of the banned social networks, spread separatism and called for changes in the state border on social networks.

Zhytomyr RMA reported that 2,182 of the simplest shelters were registered and equipped in Zhytomyr oblast in 2022. A total of UAH 19 million was allocated for these works from budgets of various levels. Current repairs were carried out in the shelters, spare exits were equipped, water supply systems, electricity networks and lighting were repaired. Internet networks with the use of Wi-Fi were also installed in the shelters, and stocks of food and medicine were made.

Zhytomyr Thermal and Energy Company reported that the first modular boiler house was brought to Zhytomyr and will be installed on the territory of the utility company. It will work on wood chips or pellets. In the event of an emergency, the boiler room will be moved to a hospital or school and connected to the facility’s heat supply network.

Zhytomyr regional cancer dispensary received 4 generators and 3 ventilators. As reported in Zhytomyr RMA, international partners from Switzerland and Spain provided humanitarian aid.

Sumy oblast

The SBGS reported that Yunakivka, Bilopillia, Vorozhba, Esman, Znob-Novhorodske and Putivl communities of Sumy oblast came under enemy shelling. The enemy inflicted fire damage using mortars, barrel artillery and MLRS. In addition, the head of Sumy RMA, Dmytro Zhivytskyi, reported on shelling of Krasnopillia, Myropillia, and Seredina-Buda communities. In total, more than 190 enemy strikes were recorded on the border territory of Sumy oblast.

A woman died and three people were injured due to shelling of Esman community. An apartment building, commercial premises of local residents, railway premises and track, gas pipeline and power lines were damaged in the Vorozhba community.

The “North” OC reported that the russian army continues to shell the border settlements of Sumy oblast. 10 mortar hits were recorded in the Boyaro-Lezhachi area this morning. There are no losses among personnel and equipment.

Volunteers erected a memorial stele in Okhtyrka to defenders who died in the russian-Ukrainian war. The memorial was named “Immortal Heroes of Okhtyrka region”. Next to the new one stands the stele of the “Heavenly Hundred and Soldiers of the ATO”, which appeared in the city in November 2014.

Chernihiv oblast

SBGS reported that russian troops shelled three communities of Chernihiv oblast. 8 hits from mortars, 47 from barrel artillery were recorded on the territory of Semenivka community. Novhorod-Siverskyi community came under enemy shelling three times – a total of about 45 hits were recorded. 22 mortar hits were recorded on the border community of Snovsk.

The “North” OC reported that enemy troops continue to shell the populated areas of the oblast from the territory of the russian federation. 7 mortar strikes in the area of Hrinivka settlement and 3 mortar strikes in the area of Karpovychi settlement were recorded.

Chernihiv oblast was visited by a delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Austria in Ukraine headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Arad Benkö. The head of the Chernihiv RMA Vyacheslav Chaus said that it was about possible ways of joint work and economic cooperation. As part of joint public initiatives, 8 generators were delivered to the oblast from Austria; medical support was provided to remote communities (mobile medical centers), and materials for reconstruction also arrived.

Turnkey alarm systems will be installed in Ostra and Horodnya in the near future. All costs were borne by the French humanitarian non-governmental organization “Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED)”. Modern equipment does not depend on stationary power supply, and will also be able to broadcast not only a sound signal about danger, but also voice messages

The Chernihiv RMA reported that the center of emergency medical aid and disaster medicine of the oblast received 11 generators and 10 electric heaters. The generators have already been distributed among the regional units of the Center. The aid was provided by the Medical Assistance Committee charity organization.

A new “PidVal” art space will open in the Chernihiv Regional Art Museum named after Hryhoriy Galagan. Exhibitions, workshops and creative events will be held in the shelter. The first exhibition based on the results of the “This Place” project will take place on January 26.

Viktoriya Apanasenko, a resident of Chernihiv, sold at an auction wings from the costume in which she performed at the Miss Universe contest. $10,100 was collected at the auction, these funds will be directed to production of prostheses for the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In Dnipro, at the hub for internally displaced persons from Mariupol, the residential center “I am Mariupol. Care” has opened. Now in the hub one can get a haircut, wash, dry, iron and repair clothes. Medical services are also available there.

Vinnytsia oblast

Medical, psychological and social assistance to internally displaced persons in Vinnytsia region is provided by medics of the international organization Doctors Without Borders.

Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov informed that Ivan Vereshchak, a resident of Vinnytsia, created a mini-hydroelectric power plant that powers an Invincibility Centre in a high-rise building. Ivan  Vereshchak has been nurturing the idea of ​​creating a mini-hydroelectric power station for more than twenty years. The war pushed him to take decisive action.

RMA reported that in the city of Ladyzhyn, left without a centralized heat supply after the airstrike, modular boiler houses are being launched.

Kirovohrad oblast

Kropyvnytskyi National Guardsmen attended pottery art therapy, conducted by master Mykola Svitailo. During the event, the guards worked with clay under the instructions of the master.

Poltava oblast

Residents of the Reshetyliv community collected more than 4 tons of humanitarian cargo for the Mykolaiv direction, for the 14th brigade, 174th troop. The military received food, medicine, clothing, hygiene products, and homemade goodies.

Cherkasy oblast

The Public Organization “Rotary Club of Cherkasy” handed over a generator for the needs of the medical and sanitary unit of the special purpose emergency rescue unit. From now on, emergency medical personnel will be able to provide medical assistance to personnel and veterans under any conditions.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The General Staff reports that units of the Defense Forces in Zaporizhzhia oblast continue to destroy the enemy and clear the Ukrainian land of the consequences of the warfare. An enemy warehouse of anti-tank mines destroyed.

Energoatom informs that After the liberation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and its satellite city Energodar, Ukrainian special forces will need at least two months to neutralize all explosive devices. This is due to the fact that the occupiers purposefully turn the largest nuclear power plant in Europe into a military base, mining everything around because of fear of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the Zaporizhzhia RMA, students of Zaporizhia oblast received 933 tablets for effective distance learning. This became possible thanks to the support of the Korean International Cooperation Agency.

Mykolaiv oblast

Head of the Mykolaiv RMA Vitalii Kim reported that on January 23, the russian military launched artillery strikes on the waters of the Ochakov community. There are no casualties. In the city of Mykolaiv, Pervomaisk, Voznesensk and Bashtanka regions, day and night passed relatively calmly. 

The Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that on the sea coast of the Mykolaiv region, local residents found an anti-ship mine, which was carried out during a storm. The dangerous find was immediately reported to the military. The forces of the demining group of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine promptly neutralized the mine..

Mykolaivoblenergo informs that on the morning of January 24, exceeding electricity consumption limits was recorded in Mykolaiv oblast. Because of this, hourly outages began. 

Mykolayiv Academic Art Drama Theater received a powerful generator from the Bulgarian community. This became possible thanks to the cooperation of Ukraine Support & Renovation and Manol Peykov.

Odesa oblast

The ‘South’ Operational Command reports in the ship grouping of the enemy fleet in the Black Sea, the number of rocket carriers has increased. Among them are 11 ships, 3 surface and 1 underwater Kalibr carrier. The total volley of missiles can be 28. 

The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine states that on January 24, a UNESCO session takes place in Paris. The agenda involves the issue of including the historical center of Odesa in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Before the start of the session, members of the russian delegation tried to officially remove the Odesa issue from the agenda, citing the need to consider it ‘outside of politics’. No one paid attention to the russian proposal. Now Odesa is undergoing an accelerated procedure for inclusion in the list of world heritage according to the application submitted in October 2022. 

Head of the Odesa Regional Council Hryhorii Didenko informs that the soldiers of the territorial defense of Odesa oblast, who are now at the front, received ambulances. OSF HealthCare Vice President Chris Manson of the United States donated humanitarian aid during a visit to Ukraine.

Kherson oblast

On January 23, russian invaders shelled the territory of Kherson oblast 29 times, firing from artillery, mortars and MLRS. The enemy continues to attack peaceful settlements in the Kherson and Beryslav regions. According to the Kherson RMA, 1 person was killed as a result of the enemy shelling.

As of 6 a.m. on January 24, the enemy was on the defensive towards Kherson. However, the occupiers are shelling the civilian population every day. Antonivka and Kherson were once again shelled by MLRS and barrel artillery, as reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Head of the Kherson RMA Yaroslav Yanushkevych says that territorial communities of Kherson oblast received OSB sheets for repairs. 6,660 OSB plates were delivered to the Novovorontsovka community to cover holes in damaged buildings. The Bilozerka community received 1,332 plates.

Volyn oblast

In Lutsk, library workers and active readers of libraries created a piece of Ukrainian Book Chain of Unity from the books of Volyn writers. The participants supplemented the materials submitted in the posts with patriotic slogans, such as: “We Read – We Win!”, “With Ukraine in Our Hearts!”, “Together to Victory!!!”, “Everything will be Ukraine!”, confirming their faith in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and victory.

Zakarpattia oblast

The Uzhgorod City Council reported that students of Uzhhorod schools, in particular from the category of IDPs, are invited to a free Slovak language course from the iCan school.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

9-year-old Darynka Perkhulyn from Ivano-Frankivsk oblast cut off her 50-centimeter hair to help the military. The girl was inspired to make this decision by another young volunteer, who also cut her hair to help the soldiers.

Lviv oblast

The RMA reported that in Lviv oblast, due to exceeding consumption limits, emergency power outages were introduced. Such shutdowns were introduced promptly to stabilize the situation in the power system.

A well-known plastic surgeon from Turkey, Hakan Aguir, will visit the West Ukrainian Specialized Children’s Medical Center. This is the fifth visit of the Turkish specialist to a specialized center in Lviv. Last year, he performed at least 50 free operations for children from different parts of Ukraine and provided about 200 outpatient consultations.

Lvivvodokanal received humanitarian aid from Germany. The Water4Ukraine initiative delivered generators, Gebo water fittings, overalls and computer equipment to Lviv.

The Investments and Projects Department of the Lviv City Council reported that the city council of Rzeszow provided a powerful device for generating electricity to Lviv.

Heads of the education management bodies of the territorial communities of the Strii region received WI-FI routers to ensure communication in shelters of schools and kindergartens. Routers are planned to be installed in all schools of the oblast.

The RMA reported that from January 10 to 20, the Antytila CF and its partners organized a celebration in the Carpathians for the children of fallen and seriously wounded soldiers from the 130th battalion of the territorial defense of the city of Kyiv.

The RMA reported that a charity concert in support of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade was held in the city of Vynnyky. Over UAH 20K collected will be used for a quadcopter for the military.

The RMA reported that in the village of Kokhanivka of the Yavoriv community, there was a charity evening Carol for the Armed Forces that collected UAH 18 600, and another UAH 15K was added by the boys from the local Vertep (nativity scenes). The Vertep participants from the village of Kokhanivka donated UAH 5K to buy an armored personnel carrier for the Yavoriv Territorial Defense.

Rivne oblast

On the occasion of the Day of Unity of Ukraine, the Rivne Council presented certificates of honor and thanks to volunteers who help bring Victory closer every day. The meeting discussed problematic issues and projects that require the support of the city government.

In the Rivne Center of the Vocational Technical Institute of the State Employment Service, a 4-day course Operator of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) starts. 

Ternopil oblast

The Khmelnytskyi Regional War Veterans Hospital reported that they received aid, namely, medical stretchers; carts for washing patients; lifts for patients; bedside tables; blankets and sheets; clothes for patients; medicines, from the Ternopil CF.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A permanent mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) began its work at the Khmelnytskyi NPP. The IAEA team arrived at the station, consisting of experts from the USA and India. The task of the missions is to preserve the nuclear and radiation safety of nuclear facilities in Ukraine.

The RMA reported that the company Epitsenter K transferred the Ministry of Health of Ukraine ten ambulances with the most modern resuscitation equipment. Of these, three cars were given to the doctors of Khmelnytskyi, namely, Horodok, Dunaievets and Shepetivka.

Chernivtsi oblast

The RMA signed a memorandum of cooperation with the SOS Children’s Town CF. This CF is a charitable non-governmental organization that works to prevent orphanhood in Ukraine and support young people who leave care.

There will be an emergency button in every school and kindergarten of the Chernivtsi community. Three minutes after its activation, a special team of law enforcement officers will arrive at the institution.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Head of the EU diplomacy Borel announced that the EU approved the provision of €500 million in military aid to Ukraine. This is the seventh tranche of military support for Ukraine. Also, another $45 million will be allocated for the training of the Ukrainian military in Poland.

The German military-industrial concern Rheinmetall is ready to transfer 139 Leopard tanks to Ukraine, as soon as the German government gives permission for this. The press secretary of Rheinmetall also reported that the concern could transfer another 88 old Leopards 1.

On February 22, a large summit will be held in Istanbul on the occasion of the anniversary of the active phase of the russian-Ukrainian war. Head of the EU delegation in Turkey, Nikolaus Mayer-Landrut, said that the “geopolitical and economic consequences” of russia’s war against Ukraine will be discussed at the event.

The Ministry of Digital Affairs reported that Ukraine signed a memorandum on cooperation with Finland. The countries agreed on the exchange of experience in the following areas, namely, reconstruction and modernization of digital infrastructure, countering cyber threats, development of innovations and inclusive digital solutions.

The Turkish company Baykar completed testing of the Kızılelma UAV with a Ukrainian engine. The first flight was also made.

Ukrainian film A House Made of Chips entered the Oscar shortlist. The movie is based on five children’s stories, through which the authors summarize the problem of the impact of war on childhood.
