War in Ukraine today: latest news, January 14, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 325th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6pm:

The russian occupiers, having no success on the battlefield, continue to destroy the infrastructure and homes of the civilian population. They strike at settlements, violating almost all the norms of the International Humanitarian Law, laws and customs of warfare. So, today, a russian missile hit a residential apartment building in the city of Dnipro. At the moment, 5 civilians are known to have been killed and 39 wounded, including 7 children. The rescue operation continues.

In total, during the day, the enemy inflicted 3 air and about 50 missile strikes.  Today, the enemy has launched massive missile strikes on our territory.

In the morning, the capital was attacked by S-400 (S-300) anti-aircraft guided missiles from the north.

Later, the terrorist state used high-precision weapons: air-launched cruise missiles Kh-101 / Kh-555, Kh-22, sea-based cruise missiles “Caliber”, and guided aircraft missiles Kh-59 at critical infrastructure of Ukraine.

In total, the enemy carried out about 28 launches of cruise missiles from various bases and 5 launches of guided aircraft missiles.

The forces and means of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with units of other components of the Defense Forces, destroyed 18 cruise missiles and 3 guided aircraft missiles. Counting and clarification are underway.

In addition, the occupiers carried out 50 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems.

There is still a threat of air and missile strikes by the enemy throughout Ukraine.

The enemy does not abandon its intentions to completely seize Donetsk oblast. The invaders focus their main efforts on offensive actions towards Bakhmut. Heavy fighting for Soledar continues. Our warriors repel the attacks of the enemy around the clock. The invaders suffer heavy losses. Also, the enemy is conducting an offensive towards Lyman, Avdiivka and Novopavlivka. Towards Kupiansk, they are trying to improve the tactical position, and towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson the enemy is defending himself.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda, no significant changes occurred. No offensive enemy groups were found. The republic of belarus continues to participate in the russian aggression against our state, providing its territory and airspace for strikes, as well as ammunition and logistics.

Mortar and artillery shelling were carried out in Vovkovka and Kindrativka in Sumy oblast and Starytsia, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Strelecha, Ternova, Khatne and Topoli in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, the areas of Dvorichna, Orlianka, Kotliarivka and Krokhmalne of Kharkiv oblast, as well as Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk oblast suffered fire damage.

Towards Lyman, the enemy shelled Makiivka, Nevske, Kreminna and Chervonopopivka in Luhansk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut, Spirne, Vyimka, Bilohorivka, Soledar, Bakhmut, Druzhba and Pivnichne in Donetsk oblast were shelled.

Towards Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Vesele, Avdiivka, Marinka, Vodiane and Novomykhailivka of Donetsk oblast came under enemy fire.

Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy shelled Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk oblast.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, Malinovka, Huliaipole, Dorozhnianka, Zaliznychne, Charivne, Mala Tokmachka, Stepove and Plavni in Zaporizhzhia oblast were shelled.

Towards Kherson, Kherson and Dmytrivka of Mykolaiv oblast were shelled by rocket and barreled artillery; civilians were injured.

In order to strengthen the defense capabilities of its units in the left-bank Kherson oblast, the enemy is redeploying. The movement of personnel, weapons, military equipment and ammunition is noted.

The enemy continues to suffer daily losses in manpower which are quite sufficient.

The level of staffing of individual units of the 3rd separate motorized rifle brigade of the 1st army corps, located in the Horlivka area of Donetsk oblast, remains low. And this, despite the recent staffing by mobilized and contract soldiers. It is significant that personnel are forbidden to leave their location , thus the occupiers are somehow trying to prevent desertion.

The russian occupation authorities in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk oblast are monitoring the categories of citizens of draft age who previously had the so-called ‘reservation’. In particular, emergency and utility workers have been warned about this.

Ukrainian aviation inflicted 5 strikes on buildups of the invaders, and rocket forces and artillerymen hit 5 such areas and an enemy’s ammunition depot.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informs that another terrorist attack by russia affected Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Lviv, Cherkasy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Khmelnytsky oblasts. There were hits in residential sectors and critical infrastructure.
