War in Ukraine today: latest news, February 2, 2023 (photo)

It has been the 344th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian army launched 2 missile strikes on the civilian infrastructure of Kramatorsk (Donetsk oblast). The strikes resulted in casualties among civilian population and damage to 13 two-story buildings, 3 four-story buildings, a children’s clinic, a school, garages and cars.

Moreover, russian military carried out 3 air strikes and more than 15 MLRS attacks hitting civilian targets in the settlement of Komyshany (Kherson oblast). As a result, 4 people were injured, including a 5-year-old kid. Russian soldiers caused damage to civilian infrastructure in the city of Ochakiv (Mykolayiv oblast).

Ukraine is still under the threat of further russian air and missile strikes.

The russian army continues active reconnaissance and preparation for an offensive in certain directions, carrying out measures to strengthen its troops. Offensive operations continue towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Novopavlivka. The russian  army sustains heavy losses, and keeps losing troops. In other directions, they are on the defensive.

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda: no russian offensive groups were detected. Russian units are being trained on the training grounds of the republic of belarus. Joint military drills of the aviation component of russia-belarus regional grouping has ended. Russian aviation grouping has been reported to return to its permanent bases. Russia continues to shell Ukrainian settlements along the national border, causing casualties among the civilian population and damaging private property. Russian soldiers shelled the vicinities of Klyusy and Yeliny (Chernihiv oblast); Murawayni, Studenka, Katerynivka, Vovkivka, and Volfyny (Sumy oblast); Veterynarne, Kozacha Lopan, Strilecha, Hlyboke, Ternove, Starytsya, Hatyshch, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, and Okhrimivka (Kharkiv oblast).

Towards Kupiansk, the russian army shelled the vicinities of Kupyansk, Kucherivka, Kislivka, and Kotlyarivka (Kharkiv oblast); and Stelmakhivka (Luhansk oblast).

Towards Lyman, the russian military shelled Makiivka, Chervonpopivka, and Dibrova (Luhansk oblast).

Towards Bakhmut, Spirne, Bilohorivka, Paraskoviivka, Vesele, Bakhmut, and Ivanivske (Donetsk oblast) were shelled.

Towards Avdiivka, Avdiivka, Vesele, Severne, Pervomaiske, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, and Pobieda were attacked.

Towards Novopavlivka, russian troops shelled Vuhledar, Bohoyavlenka, and Neskuchne (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the vicinities of over 15 settlements came under russian mortar, barrel and rocket artillery fire. Among them are Olhivske, Malynyvka, Chervone, Hulyaipole, Charivne, Biloghirya, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanilivka, Novoandriivka, and Plavni (Zaporizhzhia oblast).

Towards Kherson, the city of Kherson, as well as Novokairy, Chervyn Mayak, Zmiivka, Beryslav, Mykolaivka, Tyaginka, Ponyativka, Inzhenerne, and Antonivka (Kherson oblast) suffered artillery shelling.

Russia is preparing to conduct covert mobilization on the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk oblast of Ukraine. All public sector and communal organizations in Horlivka were ordered to submit lists of persons with reservations on mobilization to the local russian military commissariat. All these people are going to be examined by special commissions with subsequent conscription into the russian ranks.

In Tavilzhanka area, Kupiansk region, Kharkiv oblast, the russian army is preparing to destroy the road infrastructure, mine bridges, dams, and crossings.

The Ukrainian Air Force attacked 4 buildups of russian troops. Ukrainian soldiers shot down 1 russian “Merlin”-type UAV.

Ukrainian missile and artillery troops hit 3 concentrations of russian troops and 1 command post.


According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine, the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine was estimated at 600 billion euros due to the large-scale russian aggression. He also noted that Ukraine has to start rebuilding right now. Energy, heat and water supply networks, hospitals are to be rebuilt. The rapid rebuilding is worth 17 billion euros. Now Ukraine has 3.5 billion. 

The EU parliament reported that the resolution on launching negotiations on Ukraine member in Europe was adopted. 489 voted for it, 36 against, 49 abstained. EU member states also discussed how to augment and fast-track military aid to Ukraine, notably weapons supply, political, economic, infrastructure, financial and humanitarian support. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that yesterday russian invaders shelled Dvorichna, Kupiansk, Ohirtseve, Starytsia, Strilecha, Vovchansk and other settlements of Chuhuiv, Kharkiv and Kupiansk districts. Eight private residential buildings were damaged. Fires broke out in Kozacha Lopan and Vovchansk as a result of russian shelling. There were no casualties.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, towards Kupiansk, the enemy shelled Dvorichna, Ivanivka, Krokhmalne, Kupiansk, Kyslivka, Pishchane, Synkivka and Tabaivka with tanks and artillery and the enemy does not stop terrorizing the civilian population of the border cities and villages of Kharkiv oblast.

Spokesman for the Regional Rescue Department, Yevhen Vasylenko, informed that this morning the enemy again fired at the border settlements of the region. A 67-year-old woman of Kupiansk and a 46-year-old man of Kruhliakivka were injured due to the shelling. The injured man is an employee of the State Emergency Service, but he was not on duty.

Referring to the Kharkiv RMA, in the morning, Kozacha Lopan settlement was shelled, the building of the village council was damaged. Preliminary, there were no casualties.

Demining of the de-occupied territories continues. Yesterday, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service inspected 1.5 km of power lines and defused about 50 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Yesterday, the enemy launched 4 air strikes and 6 missile attacks, 4 of which targeted civilian infrastructure in Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. They fired 73 times from multiple rocket launcher systems. There were casualties.

The enemy continues to impose russian citizenship on Ukrainian citizens of the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk oblast. In Horlivka city, the enemy continues to force drivers to obtain new russian-standard driver’s licenses, which is impossible in the absence of a russian passport. The invaders have set a deadline of May 1, 2023 for employees of transport companies. Those who do not fulfill the requirements will be fired.

Russians attacked Kramatorsk around 10 pm on February 1. Three people were killed and 17 others injured when an Iskander missile hit the residential area of Kramatorsk. At least eight apartment buildings were damaged, one of them completely destroyed.

This afternoon, russians struck downtown again, this time with two missiles. They damaged 13 two-story buildings, 3 four-story buildings, a children’s clinic, school, garages and cars. At least 5 people were injured as a result of the missile attack.

Luhansk oblast

Russian invaders shelled Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka yesterday.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, said that the liberated territories continue to suffer from enemy shelling. Yesterday, a russian shell landed on one of the yards of Nevske village residents, hitting its owner, who was outside at the time. She was immediately hospitalized in Donetsk oblast.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of January 09, 2023, three-month contracts expired in one of the invaders’ units operating in Luhansk oblast. Because of this, about 300 soldiers of this unit do not receive financial support. In addition, they cannot resign from military service due to the announced mobilisation.

Russians are preparing for their upcoming offensive by continuing attacks. In February, trained, recently mobilized soldiers will arrive in Luhansk oblast. Russia is relying on them in the offensive. We have not yet witnessed any massive transfer of enemy equipment to our direction.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are now confidently holding their positions, everything is stable both in Bilohorivka and towards Svatove-Kreminna.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and members of the European Commission Board arrived in Kyiv to hold talks with the Government of Ukraine. The topics for discussion will include support for Ukraine in its fight against russian aggression, coordination of efforts to restore Ukraine, continuation of key reforms and Ukraine’s progress towards EU membership.

EU High Representative, Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrell arrived in Kyiv to participate in high-level events to be held today and tomorrow in the capital of Ukraine.

On Friday, the EU-Ukraine summit will take place in Kyiv. Experts expect that Brussels will comment for the first time at a high level on whether Ukraine has come closer to joining the EU over the past 7 months. The fact that the summit will take place in Kyiv despite the war was called “symbolic” and a “powerful signal” of support from the EU by the President’s office.

According to the commander of the Kyiv Defense Forces Oleksandr Pavliuk, Ukrainian intelligence does not see any enemy forces towards Kyiv that could pose a threat of an offensive. It would take a minimum of two to three months to assemble such a force. Currently, the military has enough forces and means to deter the russo-belarusian troops in the event of a repeated offensive.

A renovated family health center was opened in Horenka, destroyed at the beginning of the full-scale war. The medical facility was rebuilt following the principles of green energy. It has a solar power plant and a heating system powered by ground energy. The project was initiated by Greenpeace and implemented in cooperation with Ukrainian NGOs.

Ukrtelecom has launched free Wi-Fi zones in Kyiv. In total, the company has set up about 700 public Wi-Fi zones on the streets of five Ukrainian cities – Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa, and Kharkiv. The Internet can be used even in the absence of power supply – it should be available for at least two and up to four hours.

Another ‘Safety Classroom’ has opened in Kyiv oblast, the State Emergency Service reported. The safety space appeared in Brovary Lyceum No. 7. For better comprehension of important information, the first lesson was traditionally held in the form of games and practical tasks developed by SES specialists in cooperation with the UN Children’s Fund UNICEF Ukraine.

In Kyiv, the Mytets Gallery hosted an exhibition titled ‘Hey, You Cossacks’, featuring works by artist Eduard Kyrych, who participated in creation of the legendary Ukrainian animation series about Cossacks. The exhibition presents new works created during 2022, in which Cossacks help the Ukrainian military.

Zhytomyr oblast

In Zhytomyr, the case of a russian combatant was sent to court. Iin March 2022, he took a man prisoner in Kyiv oblast and forced him at gunpoint to lead the way to russian troops. This was reported by the National Police of Zhytomyr oblast. The prisoner managed to escape. Under the law, a russian military officer faces up to 12 years in prison for violating the rules and customs of war.

The city council reported that an online public discussion on renaming five more streets has been launched in Zhytomyr. These are Pushkinska, Leo Tolstoy, Gagarin, Lermontovska, and Chekhov streets.

The Ukrainian Red Cross Society provides first aid training for National Police officers in Zhytomyr. Police officers are taught how to properly and efficiently provide first aid before the arrival of an ambulance, as they are the first to arrive at the scene of traffic collisions, accidents, and emergencies.

Sumy oblast

Last night, russians once again shelled Esman and Bilopillia communities. There were 24 attacks in total. Fortunately, there were no casualties or damage. There were also 22 attacks with 120-mm mortars on three settlements in Sumy oblast today. According to the North Operational Command, there were no reports of casualties.

Sumy oblast has received 130 specialized first-class protection bulletproof vests for ambulance medics from the Lviv Defense Cluster and The Renew Democracy Initiative. According to the Sumy RMA, the project’s donors were Datagroup and Nova Poshta Humanitarian.

Friends of Ukraine from the European Union handed over two Bluetti solar mini-power stations of 0.5 kW each to Sumy oblast. The Sumy RMA reported that the residents of Bilopillia community received them from European partners GIZ GmbH (German Society for International Cooperation) and the humanitarian project “EU Program Strong Regions.”

A special mine safety training on “Safe Behavior and Raising Awareness of the Risks of Mines and Explosive Remnants of War” has been conducted by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Sumy. For three days, rescuers from Sumy oblast have been improving their knowledge of modern ammunition and appropriate safety measures. The city council informed that new skills will be actively used by SES specialists to raise awareness among the oblast’s residents and in their professional activities.

Philanthropists donated over UAH 5 million worth of medical equipment to the Trostianets Hospital in Sumy oblast. The medical facility was shelled by the russian military in March 2022, during the town occupation.

Sumy students made more than 7,000 trench candles. Currently, Sumy State University volunteers are starting to make chemical warmers (hot ice) for the military.

Chernihiv oblast

The occupation forces continue to shell the border settlements of Chernihiv oblast with 120 mm mortars. Today, Semenivka and Novhorod-Siverskyi communities came under enemy fire. The “North” Operational Command reported no losses among the military, equipment, and local population.

The head of the Chernihiv RMA Viacheslav Chaus reported that four residents of the Yeline village were killed in the shelling of the Snovsk community on February 1. The mortar round hit the cellar of a private house where local residents were hiding from the shelling. One person was wounded.

The regional emergency medical center received 10 generators purchased with funds from United 24. The equipment has already been distributed to units in Chernihiv, Koriukiv, Pryluky, and Nizhyn regions. Generators are low-capacity, but can meet basic needs of the institutions and consume less fuel.

Recently, border guards from Ukraine and Lithuania visited the Chernihiv border guard detachment. Delegations were headed by Major General Serhii Deineko and General Rustamas Liubaievas. According to the State Border Guard Service, the head of the department showed Lithuanian guests how the border is being protected and defended in this area, as well as consequences of russian shelling of border units.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to Head of the regional council Mykola Lukashuk, the enemy fired at Nikopol region from heavy artillery at night.

Kryvyi Rih became another sister city of the Polish city of Lublin. The  decision was made by the Council of the City of Lublin. The mayor of Lublin, Krzysztof Žuk, announced that in cooperation with the French Protection Civile foundation, Lublin will send a high-power generator to Kryvyi Rih.

Vinnytsia oblast

A mobile shower on wheels for Ukrainian defenders was made by craftsmen in Zhmerynka, Vinnytsia O

oblast. It was designed according to the wishes of the military and constructed  in  a month.

A manual for the military was issued in Vinnytsia. It includes topical issues with which defenders address the veteran space, such as how to receive monetary payments and the status of a participant in hostilities.

Kirovohrad oblast

The University of Kropyvnytskyi improved a drone for the Armed Forces unit. According to the head of the department Andrii Hrechka, this was done at the request of a student who serves in this unit. Before modernization, the drone had a discharge mechanism for two charges, after modernization – for four.

In Kropyvnytskyi, a photo project on those fallen in the war “I live because of you” was displayed with wives and parents of soldiers present. Photos depict them holding portraits and belongings of those fallen fighters starting from 2014, helmets from the Maidan, uniforms, orders and sports equipment.

Poltava oblast

According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, the defenders of the Poltava oblast received  another quadcopter as aid from a socially active business. The quadcopter has improved characteristics. 

Cherkasy oblast

Cherkasy City Council informed that young people make trench candles for defenders at the Center for Complex Rehabilitation for Persons with Disabilities “Zhaga Zhyttia (Lust for life)”.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the situation has not significantly changed. The enemy concentrates its main efforts on holding the occupied borders. The enemy launched 70 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders, using tank weapons, rocket and barrel artillery along the entire front line.

According to the report of the National Security Service in Zaporizhzhia oblast, the occupiers shelled civilian infrastructure in the area of  the settlements of  Chervone, Huliaipole, Charivne, Malynivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Nesterenka, Bilohiria, Mala Tokmachka, Olhivske, Prymorske, Plavni, Komyshuvakha.

8  reports were received about the destruction of civilian houses (apartments) and infrastructure facilities as a result of shelling by russian military personnel.

According to the Head of Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Starukh, the enemy continues to use the civilian infrastructure in the temporarily occupied territory for its own purposes. Thus, the russian invaders use the city hospital of Dniprorudnyi of the Zaporizhzhia region as a military hospital. Medicines and surgeons were brought from the russian federation.

Another russian shelling brought destruction to the civilian sector. In the evening, the enemy shelled Yurkivka village. As a result, private houses and the power grid were damaged. In Komyshuvakha, an enemy shell hit a private house, causing no casualties.

According to the spokesman of the mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko, russian troops brought up to 20 tanks to villages north of the occupied Mariupol. The enemy is preparing a new offensive, hoping to capture Vuhledar and Zaporizhzhia in February. 

Mykolaiv oblast

Yesterday at 13:15, the enemy attacked a settlement of Kutsurubska community with MLRS. There were no casualties or damage.

Tonight at 01:10, the enemy fired artillery at the Ochakivska community. There were no casualties.

To eliminate the consequences of the russian fascist aggression, the units of the State Emergency Service were involved 14 times to identify explosive devices, 33 explosive devices were seized.

According to Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration. The Danish Refugee Council opens an office in Mykolaiv, as reported by Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych. Denmark assured that it will be a reliable partner for Mykolaiv region during and after the war. This was also stated by Danish Prime Minister Matt Frederiksen following a visit to Mykolaiv, where she witnessed the consequences of russian military aggression.

Odesa oblast

There are 11 enemy ships on combat duty in the Black Sea, including 1 Kalibr cruise missile carrier, with a total volley of about 8 missiles. The potential threat of russian missile attacks on Odesa remains quite high. 

Emergency power outages continue to be in effect in Odesa and Odesa region. Schedules of stabilization outages are not in effect. At the same time, in the evening, Odesa completed the repair of a high-voltage power line, which improves the electricity supply to the city of one million people. Further repairs to the destroyed substations will allow returning to clear and predictable outage schedules.

Kherson oblast

According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Beryslav, Antonivka and Kherson came under artillery fire. Russian occupiers fired 34 times at the territory of Kherson region. They fired from artillery, MLRS, mortars, tanks and UAVs. The russian army attacked Kherson twice, damaging residential buildings in the city. 4 people were injured with varying degrees of severity due to russian shelling.

The russian army attacked the settlements of Beryslav and Kherson regions with multiple launch rocket systems, mortars, artillery and UAVs, causing significant damage to infrastructure and leaving civilians homeless. In Kherson, shelling damaged multi-storey and private buildings, shops, offices, and the roadway, mostly in the center, Korabel and KhBK neighborhoods, and in Antonivka and Kindiyka. There were civilian casualties as a result of the hostile attacks. Police officers were working at the sites of the attacks, inspecting the area and collecting material evidence.

At night on February 1, residents of the central part of Kherson woke up to artillery strikes by the russian army. One of the shells completely tore off the roof of a private house. A young local resident was killed.

Russian troops opened fire on the residential sector of Komyshany village in the morning. One woman was killed. Four people are currently known to be wounded: two women, a man and a 5-year-old boy were injured by enemy shell fragments.

Residents of towns and villages liberated from the enemy in Kherson region continue to receive food from World Central Kitchen. About 46 thousand vegetable sets were delivered to these communities during January.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

Four students of the Volodymyr Children’s Art School named after Mykola Rokytsky participate in creating an exhibition of 100 Pictures of Children of Indomitable Ukraine. 100 talented children from all regions of Ukraine will take part in this international art program. It was announced by the International Educational and Cultural Association in partnership with the British charity fund Sincere Education and Cultural Development.

In the Volyn regional library for youth, 50 books for the military were collected as part of the project Defense with Words. The library said that “the soldiers do not have free access to the Internet, so picking up a book and reading something Ukrainian is a good rest”.

Zakarpattia oblast

The RMA reported that the President of Austria came to Zakarpattia for a visit. Alexander Van der Bellen will visit the medical center of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine and discuss the prospects of the oblast’s cooperation with the federal lands of Austria.

The RMA reported that a meeting with the head of the State Energy Supervision Inspection of Ukraine, Ruslan Slobodian, was held at the RMA. They discussed providing electricity to consumers in the oblast.

The RMA reported that Dutch partners sent powerful transformers to increase the service life of energy supply facilities in Zakarpattia.

In Uzhhorod, over 3K incandescent lamps were replaced with LED ones in two days. From February 6, lamps in all regions of the oblast can be exchanged.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

The RMA reported that in January 13 air raid sirens  were recorded in the oblast while in December there were 14. The longest one was on January 26. It lasted 3 hours and 57 minutes, the shortest was on January 31 with a duration of 15 minutes. The highest number of air alarms was yesterday. They sounded 3 times that day. The maximum number of days without alarms is 8 days. The “mode of silence” lasted from January 6 to 14.

The RMA reported that 2 cars for fighters of the 102nd separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were sent from the oblast.

The RMA reported that they sent a generator from Ivano-Frankivsk to the Faculty of Radio Technical Forces of Kharkiv National University of the Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub. 

Lviv oblast

Lviv’s partner city of Lodz sent 28 batteries for the city’s public address system. This will help the sirens and loudspeakers to work continuously regardless of the power supply.

The RMA reported that the Lviv Defense Cluster sent100 body armor to the Trostianets Territorial Defense Volunteer Formation.

The Lviv Defense Cluster sent 500 children evacuation kits to the Juvenile Police of Ukraine. Along with the final batch of bulletproof vests and helmets, they also sent an armored car for evacuation, prepared for off-road conditions. 

A modular town for IDPs will be built in Chervonohrad oblast. This project is implemented with the support of the company Green Planet Energy eG, and it is financed by the project Supporting Structural Changes in the Coal Regions of Ukraine, implemented by GIZ Ukraine.

The Drohobych region received humanitarian aid, namely, warm things, mattresses, sets of bed linen, folding chairs, solar lamps, from the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Fighters from the 103rd Teroboron Brigade on the front line donate blood for their combat friends. In one of the front-line areas of eastern Ukraine, the emergency blood transfusion is conducted at the stabilization center. In emergency cases wounded defenders can receive blood directly from a donor, the military serviceman.

The RMA reported that fighters of the 103rd separate brigade of the Territorial Defense of Lviv oblast received state awards – medals For Military Service to Ukraine signed by the President of Ukraine.

The fourth invincibility yurt made by Kazakh craftsmen was set up in Lviv. Its total area is about 60 m2. The frame is wooden. It is made from willow, not a single nail was used during construction. All connections are made of leather. Shaggy wall carpets, decorated with embroidery of silk and cotton threads, protect against cold. Up to fifty people can stay in a yurt at the same time.

In Lviv, at the Higher Vocational School # 20, a memorial plaque was opened in memory of all graduates of the institution who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine. The memorial plaque depicts 11 fallen defenders.

Rivne oblast

The RMA reported that a detachment of soldiers of the special purpose company of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Rivne oblast will replace their colleagues, who have been performing official duties in the liberated territory of Kharkiv oblast for over four months.

Zdolbuniv community bought three cars for Ukrainian defenders. They are sent to compatriots who are currently serving in the Armed Forces. Cars for the military were bought using the funds collected by the Zdolbuniv city council.

The first enterprise Kronospan LLC in Rivne oblast concluded a contract on the import of electricity and is already receiving it. From now on, it can supply itself with electricity without interruption.

There are 248 Invincibility Centers in the oblast. Over 35K residents have already visited them. Currently, these locations receive approximately 100 people per day.

Ternopil oblast

Shoes for defenders were sent to the front line from Ternopil oblast. Another batch will be sent in the coming days. Fundacja Wood-Mizer from the Polish city of Kolo provided the aid.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

The psychological and social support space for Ukrainians was opened in Kamianets-Podilskyi. Volunteers and workers of the Red Cross will work here with local residents and IDPs. They will conduct creative activities and games for children, as well as training and psychological support training for their parents.

Chernivtsi oblast

Two generators, an electric charging station and solar panels for it, were sent to the Territorial Defense Brigades of the oblast. The aid provided by the German non-governmental organization Lebensfahrten e. V. from the city of Meissen. Earlier, they sent 7 generators for defenders.

Firefighters visited the kids in the kindergarten # 52 in Chernivtsi with an interactive and educational lesson. In a playful way, the rescuers talked about fire and mine safety. They also told kids how to act in various dangerous situations. In addition, the firefighters presented the kindergarten with interesting informative materials created by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine together with The United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF Ukraine, so that in the future, educators could conduct informative safety lessons.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and 15 members of the European Commission and Josep Borrell arrived in Kyiv.

On February 24, the UN Security Council will hold a debate dedicated to the anniversary of russian full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.

The EU will expand the training of the Ukrainian military twice, up to 30K soldiers.

European Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn reported that the EU will soon announce another €400 million aid package to Ukraine.

The EU provided military aid to Ukraine in the amount of almost EUR 12 billion both through the European Peace Fund and on a bilateral basis.

Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov announced that Ukraine and France signed a memorandum on the supply of MG-200 radars for Ukrainian air defense. This equipment will help identify ballistic missiles.

Two armored vehicles were sent to Ukraine, which will be used to evacuate Ukrainian soldiers wounded in battles with russian aggressors. Specialized vehicles were donated by the Czech National Bank. The cars were named Bonnie and Clyde. Previously, they were used to transport money.

Denmark plans to buy decommissioned Leopard 1A5 tanks from Germany, repair them and send them to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Poland offers allies to work out agreements on security guarantees for Ukraine by NATO. Polish President Andrzej Duda said that the Ukrainian army should receive enough equipment to stop the russian offensive and return the temporarily occupied territories.

President of the National Olympic Committee of Latvia Georges Tickmer announced that his country may refuse to participate in the 2024 Olympics if the IOC admits russians to it.
