War in Ukraine today: latest news, December 24, 2022 (photo)

It has been the 304th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6pm:   

The russian occupiers continue to violate the norms of the International humanitarian law, laws and customs of warfare. Thus, during the day, the enemy launched 3 missile strikes on civilian objects in Zaporizhzhia oblast. There were more than 10 attacks from rocket salvo systems.

The enemy is concentrating its efforts on conducting offensive actions towards Lyman, Bakhmut and Avdiivka and is trying to improve the tactical position near Kupiansk. 

The situation has not changed significantly towards Volyn, Polissia and Siversk. The enemy maintains a military presence, however, there are no signs of offensive groups being formed. 

Towards Sloboda, the settlements of Huriv Kozachok, Kozacha Lopan, Kudiivka, Strelecha, Ternova, Starytsia, Vovchansk, Nesterne, Zemlianka, Khatne and Ambarne of Kharkiv oblast were hit by mortar and artillery fire.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy shelled the settlements of Novomlynsk, Kupiansk, Kyslivka, Tabaivka and Krokhmalne of Kharkiv oblast and Stelmakhivka and Miasozharivka of Luhansk oblast.

Towards Lyman, the invaders inflicted fire damage in Makiivka, Chervopopivka, and Dibrova in Luhansk region, as well as Terny in Donetsk region.

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy fired tanks, mortars, barrel and rocket artillery in the areas of t Spirne, Berestove, Vesele, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Paraskoviivka, Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, Opytne, Stupochki, Klishchiivka, Bila Hora, Diliivka, Kleban-Bik , Ozarianivka, Pivnichne and Niu York of Donetsk oblast. 

Kamianka, Avdiivka, Vodyane, Nevelske, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk oblast were shelled towards Avdiivka. 

Towards Novopavlivka, Vugledar, Novoukrainka, Velyka Novosilka and Vremivka of Donetsk oblast came under the fire of the occupiers.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy shelled the settlements of Malynivka, Chervone, Charivne, Bilohiria, Novodanylivka, Mali Shcherbaky and Stepove in Zaporizhzhia oblast and Marhanets and Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

Towards Kherson, the enemy continues to terrorize the civilian population. The civil infrastructure of Chervonohryhorivka, Dnipropetrovsk oblast, and Burhunka, Antonivka, and Kherson were affected by shelling. There are dead and wounded among peaceful Ukrainian citizens. 

In Hornostaivka, Kherson oblast, the russian occupiers imposed a 24-hour curfew from December 25, 2022 to January 3, 2023. For almost 10 days, local residents are prohibited from leaving their homes and moving around the settlement. 

During the day, the aviation of the Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out 3 strikes on buildups of the enemy’s personnel, weapons and military equipment. Our rocket launchers and gunners struck two buildups of manpower and the S-300 anti-aircraft missile complex of the occupiers.

Head of the Kherson RMA Yaroslav Yanushevych reports that on Christmas Eve, Russia once again shelled Kherson. It is known about 10 dead and 55 wounded civilians, 18 of them in serious condition. 

The press service of Ukrenergo says that as a result of shelling and damage to equipment, one of the power plants stopped working. The power system maintains a significant shortage of electricity. The most difficult situation is in Kyiv and Kyiv oblast, in the east and south. 

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko informs that during the week, over 62 K people visited Centres of Invincibility.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian soldiers continue shelling the oblast with mortars and artillery. 16 settlements were under attack. 

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that deputies of the Regional Council made an important decision to rename the Kharkiv Academic russian Drama Theatre named after Pushkin. From now on, the institution will be called “Kharkiv Academic Drama Theatre”.

In the morning, the invaders attacked Kupiansk region with mortars, hitting a private building in Podoly village. A 72-year-old man was killed. A 74-year-old woman received explosive and shrapnel wounds. The woman was hospitalised.

Yesterday the enemy shelled Ambarne, Hoptivka, Huriv, Kotliarivka, Krokhmalne, Kudiivka, Kyslivka, Novomlynsk, Ohirtseve, Starytsia, Tabaivka, Veterynarne and Vovchansk with artillery, tanks and mortars.. There was no information about casualties.

Yesterday at 6 pm, a residential building, outbuildings and garages were damaged in Dvorichna settlement of the Kupiansk region as a result of the shelling. Fires broke out. There were no casualties.

Donetsk oblast

In the de-occupied settlements of Donetsk oblast, the search for burials and identification of dead and killed local residents and the military continue. According to the press officer of Donetsk oblast police, Oleksandra Havrylko, as of December 24, the police had discovered 168 burials.

The Pokrovsk city military administration reported on a mobile Point of Invincibility on wheels, equipped with sockets and a generator that came from the Netherlands.

The Ukrainian Antarctic station of Akademik Vernadsky held a charity auction, where almost UAH 100K was raised for the military fighting near Bakhmut in Donetsk oblast. 

Adviser to the mayor Petro Andryushchenko provides the data on fires in the occupied Mariupol: since the seizure of the city by russians, more than 300 fires have occurred, 26 people died, including one child.

During the day, 13 settlements of the oblast were shelled from the S-300, Hrads, Urahans, artillery, tanks, and mortars.

During the night, the russians shelled various areas of the frontline from Vuhledar to Lyman.

Towards Volnovakha, continuous shelling of Vuhledar took place. There was no information about the victims.

Towards Donetsk, there was intensive shelling of the Marinka community, especially in Marinka settlement.

Towards Horlivka, 1 house in Toretsk was damaged. The shelling also took place near Rozdolivka, Yakovlivka and Bakhmutske of the Soledar community.

Towards Lysychansk, 2 houses were destroyed: in Torske of the Lyman community and in the Pereizne of the Zvanivka community.

Head of the Donetsk RMA, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informs that russians killed 2 civilians in Kurakhove, Donetsk oblast. Another 5 people were injured in the oblast. Since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine in Donetsk oblast, 1281 people have been killed and 2785 injured.

Luhansk oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that in Bilovodsk and Markivka, occupied in February, the russian military converted local medical facilities into military hospitals to treat wounded russian army personnel. On December 19, in Starobilsk, about 100 wounded servicemen of the russian army were brought to the surgical department of the regional hospital, which was equipped as a military hospital.

Yesterday, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine repulsed the occupiers’ attacks near Andriivka. Towards Kupiansk, the enemy fired tanks, mortars and artillery near Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, Kuzemivka, Kolomyichykha and Miasozharivka. Towards Lyman, Makiivka, Ploshchanka, Chervonopopivka and Dibrova came under enemy fire.

Head of the Luhansk RMA Serhii Haidai announces that russians’ attempts to attack Stelmakhivka and Bilohorivka were repulsed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, the occupiers continue to shell the liberated villages, namely Nevske and Makiivka. Sometimes even enemy tanks try to break through there.

Citing an example of the Ukrainian army’s success towards Luhansk, Head of the RMA Serhii Haidai states that the occupation administration of the “LPR” in Svatove, Luhansk oblast, left the city.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The campaign Azov Regiment: Christmas in Captivity was held in Kyiv on St. Sophia Square. About a hundred people took part in the event, including relatives, brothers, and friends of Mariupol defenders.

In Kyiv oblast, businesses arranged heating points in the oblast. More than 400 Invincibility Centres are currently deployed in the oblast, 50 of them provided by business entities. There are more than 600 Centres, 100 of which are provided and maintained by business entities.

Mayor Vitalii Klytschko reported that all ground electric transport will temporarily stop operating in the capital because of the shortage of electricity. Buses will run on all tram and trolleybus routes. The underground will be working.

Vadym Tokar, Head of the village council reported that scheduled military exercises have started on the territory of the Makariv community. He noted that during the New Year and Christmas holidays, local residents might hear explosions and shooting.

Organizers of a bot farm, which created more than 100 accounts on the Internet daily to spread misinformation about the war and the situation on the frontline, was exposed and detained in Kyiv oblast. According to the Kyiv regional police, the suspects were paid for their work via the russian payment system. The pre-trial investigation is underway.

According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, the rolling stock of the Kyiv underground is planned to be modernized at the expense of the European Investment Bank. The current estimated cost of the project is EUR 450 million. With this money, Kyiv will be able to get rid of dependence on russian-made carriages and spare parts. These are the plans of the EIB and Kyiv stated in the memorandum on financing investment projects for the post-war reconstruction of the capital.

The city council reported that Japan donated three powerful diesel generators and six heaters to Bucha. Two generators will be used during the blackout to provide power to boiler rooms. The third one will be mobile to pump water into reservoirs where necessary.

World-famous Swiss light artist Gerri Hofstetter illuminated buildings in Kyiv within the “Christmas Light for Hope” tour to bring hope and light to Ukrainians in dark days. On December 23, the National Museum of History of Ukraine, the bell tower of St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery, the building of the Hennadii Udovenko Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine, and the bell tower of St. Sophia Cathedral were illuminated.

Zhytomyr oblast

According to Serhii Sukhomlyn, Mayor of Zhytomyr, the border with Belarus is safely secured in Zhytomyr oblast – the construction of concrete fortifications and additional lines of defense has been going on there for three months, and the units of the regional terrorist defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are deployed there.

Mayor of Zhytomyr Serhii Sukhomlyn reported that 12 out of 45 boiler houses in the regional center do not work, but the situation is not critical. In order to save electricity, only one third of the lighting in the regional center is on at boiler houses, and 20% of trolleybuses run for several hours a day to transport vulnerable categories of population. Also, generators are installed at the facilities of the water utility and the city heating company.

The city council reported that it is planned to turn on street lighting for four and a half hours every evening in Korosten. According to the preliminary information, lighting in the dark time of the day will last for the period of New Year holidays – until January 8. It will also allow testing the operation of street lights installed under the energy efficiency program using the ESCO mechanism.

Sumy oblast

According to Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, yesterday, the enemy launched 45 shells on Krasnopillia and Esman communities. 7 enemy mortar rounds exploded on the border area in the Krasnopillia community. Later, the russians dropped explosives from a quadcopter. The enemy opened artillery fire on the border villages of the Esman community. There were 20 incoming shells. There were also 12 machine gun and 5 small arms bursts fired in the direction of our territory. The night in Sumy oblast was without shelling.

Chernihiv oblast

Yesterday, post office No.14020 located in the territory of Bobrovytsia neighborhood, Chernihiv oblast, resumed its work. In the spring of this year, it was in the epicenter of hostilities and suffered destruction as a result of enemy shelling during the siege of Chernihiv.

It is prohibited to use or sell fireworks, bangers and firecrackers of all classes in Chernihiv oblast. This decision was adopted by the Regional Defense Council at its regular meeting on December 22, 2022.

The annual revenue plan of the regional budget for 2022 will not be fulfilled – a shortfall of 4-5% of revenues is expected. According to Viacheslav Chaus, Head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, the development sector of the regional budget is critically low, but the first 22 territorial communities have fulfilled the annual plan.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

According to the Head of the Regional Council Mykola Lukashuk, overnight russians attacked the Nikopol region. They fired over 60  shells from heavy artillery and  Hrad and Urahan MRLSs at Chervonohryhorivka, Myrove and Marhanets communities.   In Marhanets, garages and vehicles of an industrial enterprise, buildings of a garden association were mutilated. Electricity grids were damaged in Chervonohryhorivka and Myrove communities.

Vinnytsia oblast

The Vinnytsia City Council reported that with the support of the German Government, Vinnytsia received 8 tonnes of equipment that will strengthen municipal Invincibility Centres. This is only the first tranche of humanitarian aid for the city, other deliveries are expected next year.

In Vinnytsia, a Christmas party was held for IDP children. At the event, the children had fun and revised how to behave properly during the New Year holidays thanks to the representatives of the State Emergency Service. The children also received sweet gifts from the International Humanitarian Organization ACTED. In addition, the organization handed over two refrigerators and five electric kettles for the needs of displaced persons living in the Center where the event took place.

Kirovohrad oblast

In the villages of Kirovohrad Oblast, an automated notification system is installed. The alarm siren will sound through the loudspeaker for five seconds. Since the beginning of russia’s invasion in Ukraine, 90 sirens have been updated or installed in the oblast.

Poltava oblast

In Kremenchuk, the branch No. 1 of the KSK KMPB together with preschool educational institution No. 79 Kalinka held a charity entertainment program Winter Miracles Workshop. This way, they collected funds to buy a thermal imager for 72 OMBRs for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Cherkasy oblast

Children’s writer Jade Mater from Australia was inspired by the drawings of young Ukrainians and created the fairy tale “Space Hotel “Ukraine”. The publication includes illustrations of 29 children from Cherkasy Oblast. This book aims to support Ukrainian children and return the word “rocket” to its only right, peaceful meaning .

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to the National Police, over the past day the occupiers shelled civilian infrastructure in the area of 16 settlements. There were 22 reports of destruction of civilian houses and infrastructure as a result of shelling by russian military. A three-year-old boy and a 15-year-old teenager were injured as a result of russian shelling in Zaporizhzhia.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko reported about the children’s health who became victims of the russian army: “Two children who suffered from shelling were brought from Mahdalynivka to the children’s hospital of Zaporizhzhia oblast. One boy is three years old, the other is 15. The brothers were at home when the russians started shelling the settlement. The blast wave damaged the wall of the house, which pressed the children. Now the children are being treated in the surgical department of the hospital. They are in moderate condition.” 

Russia intensifies police terror in the temporarily occupied Berdiansk and continues to terrorize civilians living along the right bank of the Dnipro river in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts. About 500 soldiers of the russian National Guard arrived in the occupied Berdiansk. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the russians were brought to the occupied Ukrainian city to strengthen administrative and police measures.

In the temporarily occupied territories, the invaders force the local population to re-register documents for real estate and land in accordance with the enemy’s legislation. This was reported by the National Resistance Center at the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, in case of refusal, the russians threaten to “nationalize”, that is, simply take away the property. It should be noted that the russians have created an online platform for the sale of such property. This is also the property of those who left their homes after the occupation.

Mykolaiv oblast

Head of the Regional Military Administration Vitalii Kim said that the russians carried out artillery strikes on the water area of the Ochakiv community. Also, yesterday, the enemy shelled one community in Mykolaiv oblast. Head of the Regional Council Hanna Zamazeieva informed that as of this morning, 253 people who were wounded by russian attacks remain in Mykolaiv hospitals. Another 29 received help on an outpatient basis.

In Mykolaiv oblast, during 303 days of the full-scale russian invasion, the air alert periods lasted 40 days 18 hours 43 minutes. This is evidenced by the data of the Alerts portal, which records all announcements of air alerts in Ukraine. In terms of the total duration of the air alert, Mykolaiv oblast is in fourth place. Luhansk oblast is in first place (267 days), Kharkiv oblast is in second place (53 days), and Donetsk oblast is in third place (41 days). In total, as of the evening of December 24, 902 alarms were announced in Mykolaiv oblast.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko stated that over 330 tonnes of humanitarian aid was sent to the residents of Mykolaiv oblast, and 453 households received firewood for heating. Residents of the liberated territories receive food, hygiene products, warm clothes, and construction materials. The residents of Snihurivka received the largest assistance from the state.

Odesa oblast

The previous day, russian troops tried to sow panic among Ukrainians, including residents of Odesa oblast, by sending aircraft into the sky. At the same time, there remains a high threat of missile strikes and the use of Iranian strike drones on the territory of Odesa oblast. This was stated by Spokesman of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Serhii Bratchuk. 

Head of the Joint Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces, Natalia Humeniuk, said that there were no russian missile carriers in the Black Sea for a long time, but now the ship group has increased to eleven units. According to her, russia did not take the missile carriers to sea for a long time because of the storm, so the warships remained in the basing points. When the sea calmed down, russian ships went on duty. The occupiers may launch either massive or single missile strikes on Ukraine on the eve of the holidays to put psychological pressure on Ukrainians.

Thousands of dolphins were washed ashore in the Tuzla Estuaries National Nature Park in Odesa oblast. They were killed by russian shelling and noise from explosions. The park is home to 263 species of birds, about 70 fish, and 43 mammals. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, scientists say that the biodiversity of the ecosystem has been lost, and the actions of the russian army can be qualified as ecocide. In December, scientists found the bodies of three dolphins that had been washed up on the sea coast. Scientist Ivan Rusev said that about 50 K dolphins have died since the beginning of the full-scale war.

Director of the Department of Investment and Foreign Economic Activity of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Roman Hryhoryshyn, announced that France will allocate financial assistance for the post-war reconstruction of Odesa oblast. Future financial support is included in the budget of the southern region of the country. He said that since the beginning of the war, the French province has provided assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 3.5 million euros. Now the partners want to mobilize their businesses for reconstruction and develop joint actions to identify priority needs of the people in Odesa oblast. Hryhoryshyn pointed out that the main task remains to provide critical infrastructure facilities with generators and communication.

The media with reference to the press service of the Odesa City Council reported that another humanitarian cargo from the Japanese sister city Yokohama arrived in Odesa. These are 1900 sets of winter clothes, 80 warm jackets, and 10 thousand sets of disposable chemical foot warmers.

Kherson oblast

Head of the Regional Military Administration Yaroslav Yanushevych informed that the russian occupiers shelled Kherson oblast 74 times with artillery, MLRS, mortars, and tanks. Russian troops mercilessly attacked peaceful residential areas of Kherson all day long. There were 36 attacks on critical infrastructure, a kindergarten, a school, a hospital, shops, a factory, and private and apartment buildings. Yesterday in Kherson oblast, the russian army killed 5 civilians, and 17 people were wounded of varying severity. Among the victims is a 6-year-old child. The girl with multiple shrapnel injuries was taken to hospital. The child is in critical condition.

Deputy Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko informed that later in the morning russian troops struck another cynical blow in the center of Kherson when many people were on the street. As of now, there are 58 wounded, 18 of them seriously injured, and 7 more killed. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 66 cars were burned as a result of the shelling. Rescuers eliminated the fires within 40 minutes.

First Lady Olena Zelenska reacted to today’s terrible shelling of Kherson: “This is what the baseness and weakness of an aggressor that cannot admit defeat looks like. Another targeted strike by the russians on Ukrainian civilians. The center of Kherson was shelled at the weekend”.

Brigitte Brink, US Ambassador to Ukraine, also condemned the shelling of Kherson civilian residents by the russian military. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, called on Western partners and allies of Ukraine to more actively support the defense against russian aggression. “Today, another brutal attack by russia on the recently-liberated Kherson. The city’s citizens had already suffered so much when russia’s retreating forces cut off power and water. Initial reports indicate many dead and injured. Truly horrific, especially on Christmas Eve,” Bridget Brink said in her post.

More than 11 K explosive objects have been defused in the de-occupied territories of Kherson oblast. It is reported by UNN with reference to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. “Pyrotechnics, centimeter by centimeter, examine the liberated territories of  Kherson oblast and find an unbelievable number of explosive items left by the occupiers. In total, since the beginning of demining works, 11,346 units of explosive devices have been found and neutralized,” the statement said.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

In Volyn, students held a fair and  collected UAH 90K in support of the Ukrainian military. They plan to purchase a drone for the military.

The educators of the Kovel region were given laptops for schools in border settlements. The implementation of the Laptop for Every Teacher initiative became possible thanks to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Google, the Ministry of Digital transformation of Ukraine, and  the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

Zakarpattia oblast

Head of the Zakarpattia RMA, Viktor Mykyta, was awarded with the Order of the Saint and Miracle Worker Nicholas. The head of the oblast noted that today this honorary award is for all residents of the oblast.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

This year, the oblast received over UAH 200 million from the state budget and the World Bank. Thanks to this, it was possible to purchase expensive equipment for medical institutions of the oblast.

The curfew in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast is not canceled on holidays. In addition, the police of oblast informs that from December 24 they will increase patrolling of the streets.

The RMA reported that with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, medical institutions of Prykarpattia received 40 laptops and 8 STARLINK satellite communication stations.

The city council reported that Ivano-Frankivsk volunteers and the community sent holiday presents to the soldiers at the front from relatives on the eve of winter holidays.

The RMA awarded a serviceman from Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, a senior officer of the 8th separate mountain assault battalion of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade, Ruslan Ruzhul with the medal For Services to Prykarpattia.

Lviv oblast

The Lviv 103rd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received a modern autonomous mobile medical and dental station. The mobile station was set up with the support of the Lviv Volunteer Medical Battalion and the Rotary International Organization.

Over 4K IDP families received humanitarian aid at the center of the Saint Ehidii Community. Such a large number of people have been helped in the last six months since the Center started working.

A pre-Christmas Eve party was organized for IDPs who found shelter in Lviv oblast. The event was organized by the Hope.ua CF and the Department of Communications and Internal Policy of Lviv oblast.

Until December 30, the educational and interactive exhibition Weapons of Victory will be open in the LЕM Station. Here, Lviv residents will be able to familiarize themselves with the anti-tank weapons that the Ukrainian military uses to counter the aggressor.

Rivne oblast

The RMA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the USAID Program Competitive Economy of Ukraine. This program provides for the organization’s cooperation with Rivne oblast to develop small and medium-sized enterprises.

Ternopil oblast

Head of the RMA, Volodymyr Trush, stated that a curfew will be in effect on New Year’s Eve in Ternopil oblast

At an extraordinary meeting of the executive committee of the Chortkiv City Council, decided to ban pyrotechnics. The ban will remain until the termination and abolition of the legal martial law.

A powerful generator was handed over to the Invincibility Centre WARM CITY, which is located in the Center for Leisure and Youth Initiatives. Aid was provided by the Ternopil Regional Organization of the Red Cross and the Swiss Red Cross Organization.

At the Ternopil Academic Ukrainian Drama Theater named after Taras Shevchenko a holiday for children of military personnel was organized. The actors performed the New Year’s play Merry Journey for the young audience about friendship, faith, goodness and hope.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Khmelnytskyi educators received 1 704 computer technology certificates. The aid was provided by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the UN for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO).

President of the US Joe Biden signed the law on the country’s defense budget of $858 billion, which provides $800 million in additional aid to Ukraine and $6 billion to deter russian aggression in Europe.

The Netherlands plans to provide Ukraine with EUR 2.5 billion in aid allocated in 2023. Prime Minister of the Netherlands Rutte noted that it is about military, humanitarian and diplomatic aid. 

Ukraine will receive $500 million in aid from Great Britain. The funds will be used to reimburse state budget expenditures for social aid payments to families with children, salaries for employees of state institutions of higher education, and communal services.

Estonia will provide another package of military aid to Ukraine. It will include drones, personal protective equipment and winter uniforms.

Naftogaz of Ukraine reported that it had agreed on an additional supply of almost half a billion cubic meters of gas to Ukraine to get through the winter. 350 million cubic meters will come from the Norwegian oil and gas company Equinor and 100 million cubic meters from sellers authorized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The Seimas of Lithuania approved participation in the training of the Ukrainian military within the framework of the EU and British missions. Next year, the Lithuanian troops will train about 1,5K Ukrainian servicemen, of which 1,1K will be on the territory of Lithuania.

Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Yan Lipavskyi, stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is working on the creation of the position of Commissioner for Reconstruction of Ukraine.

Khofshtetter brought his own electric generator with him and will work in Ukraine for two more Christmas evenings – December 24 and 25. Herry Khofshtetter and his team deliberately refused to celebrate Christmas with their families as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine.
