It has been the 288th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy launched 2 missiles and 20 MRLS attacks on positions of Ukrianian troops and settlement along the front line. The civilian infrastructure of Kupiansk, Zolochiv and Ochakiv was shelled. 

Ukraine is still under the threat of missile hits on energy system facilities and critical infrastructure.

The situation towards Volyn and Polissia has not significantly changed. There are currently no signs of forming the enemy’s assault groups.

Towards Siversk, the enemy shelled with mortars and barrels the settlements of Khrinivka and Hremiach, Chernihiv oblast and Seredyna-buda ans Chernetske, Sumy oblast. 

Towards Sloboda, the settlements of Veterynarne, Hoptivka, Strilecha, Zelene, Ternova, Starytsia, Varvarivka, Dvorichna and Kamianka, Kharkiv oblast were shelled with artillery. The enemies launched the missile strike not far from Kamianka.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy is on the defensive. They hit Berestove, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka and Tabaivka, Kharkiv oblast and Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka and Pischane, Luhansk oblast. 

Towards Lyman, the occupiers shelled the areas of settlements of makiivka, Ploschanka, Nevske, Luhansk oblast and Hryhorivka, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut and Avdiivka, the enemy concentrates its key forces on launching the offensive operations. 30 settlements were shelled with tanks, mortars and barrels. Among them are Andriivka, Verkhniokamianske, Berestove, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Blahodatne, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Opytne, Avdiivka, Vodiane, Pervomaiske, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Hostre, Mariinka, Novomykhailivka, Donestk oblast. The enemy launched air strikes in the area of settlements of Spirne, Klischiivka, Pivnichne, Kamianka, Pervomaiske, Nevelske. 

Towards Novopavliske the enemy is on the offensive. They struck with artillery and mortars the positions of Ukrainian troops near Vuhledar, Novosilka, Prechystivka and Zolota Nyva, Donetsk oblast. 

Towards Zaporizhzhia, twenty two settlements were hit. Among them are Vremivka and Novopil, Donetsk oblast and Dorozhnianka, Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Orikhiv, Novodanylivka, Novoandriivka, Mali Scherbaky, Stepove, Zaporizhzhia oblast. The occupiers also launched missile strikes in the area of Mali Scherbaky and Stepove. 

Towards Kherson, the enemy is on the defensive. 17 settlements were shelled with tanks and artillery. Among them are Kachkarivka, Monastyrske. Novoberyslav, Beryslav, Love, Ivanivka, Novotiahynka, Inzhenerne, Prydniprovske and Antonivka, Kherson oblast and the outskirts of Kherson. 

The misleading information is being spread in russia to discredit the military and political command of Ukraine. They falsely claim that the rewards are being established for elimination of russian soldiers in the amounts ranging from 700 up to 1K USD. 

The occupation authorities are regrouping the military units on the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk oblast. Family members of fallen soldiers are denied 3 mln ruble compensation since the unit was disbanded and there are no legal grounds to receive any payments. 

The missile troops and artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit 5 command points, 8 buildups of personnel, artillery and ammunition depots of the enemy. 

Representative of the Chief Intelligence Directorate Andrii Yusov informed that even after suffering losses, russia continues mobilization. New waves are expected using different forms, methods and accountability systems. They plan to recruit 17-year old young men in the occupied territories. He also noted that it is not possible to evade the war without the regime collapse and withdrawal from occupied territories. 

According to the head of Kyiv RMA Oleksii Kuleba, there is a shortage of power in the energy system in Kyiv oblast. It is about 30% of the consumers’ needs. It causes interruptions of heat supply in houses with central heating. Energy workers are making every effort to launch outage schedules and minimise uneven electricity cutoffs. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian troops repelled enemy attack near Ternova village in Lyptsi community, located near the border with russia.

The regional prosecutor’s office reported that as a result of hostilities, the ecology of Kharkiv oblast is worsening. The damage caused by russia to the environment during the full-scale invasion amounts to more than UAH 100 billion.

Izium Mayor, Valerii Marchenko, said that participants of the Cultural landing initiative are restoring a mural with a Cossack on the burned building of the executive committee,  destroyed by unidentified persons in November.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, informed that the enemy continues to shell Kupiansk city and settlements near the front line in Kharkiv oblast.

The invaders hit a private house building in Kharkiv district and a fire broke out in a private household. There are casualties: 2 men and 2 women. All relevant services are working at the scene.

Today around 4:30 am the enemy launched a missile attack on Kupiansk. The S-300 missile hit the ground under the foundation of the administrative building. The wall of the building was destroyed, a car damaged and windows broken. There were no casualties.

Head of Zolochiv village, Victor Kovalenko, said that in the morning, air defence forces of Ukraine shot down an S-300 russian missile. There were no casualties.

Moreover, yesterday a residential building was damaged and a fire broke out as a result of enemy shelling in Kupiansk. There were no casualties.

As a result of shelling with S-300 missiles near Pechenihy, Chuhuiv district, there were fires in the fields.

Mine clearance continues. 129 explosive ordnance were defused.

Donetsk oblast

Russians started targeting heating points in Donbas. Spokeswoman of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Tetiana Ihnatchenko, informed that the last attacks of russians were at Invincibility Centres near Kramatorsk and Toretsk.

One person was killed and two injured as a result of shelling of Toretsk. Shells hit the private sector – at least 12 buildings were destroyed and damaged.

At night, russians continued attacking in different parts of the frontline.

In Donetsk direction, at night there were periodic attacks on the outskirts of Marinka and Ocheretyne communities. In the morning Avdiivka was under artillery fire three times. There were no casualties.

Towards Horlivka, 2 people were killed in Bakhmut and Ivanivske. 2 people were injured in Bakhmut. 2 apartment buildings and 3 private buildings were damaged in the community. There were isolated attacks on the outskirts of Soledar community. There were no casualties.

Towards Lysychansk direction, 3 people were injured and 7 buildings damaged in Yampil of Lyman community.

Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informed that 9 civilians were killed: 1 in Bakhmut, 1 in Ivanivka , 6 in Kurakhove and 1 in Krasnohorivka. 15 people were injured.

In the temporarily occupied Mariupol, public transport does not operate since the invaders have not prepared the roads for winter. According to Mariupol city council, people get injured walking on frozen sidewalks.

Residents of Viroliubivka village received food and hygiene kits from volunteers.

Soldiers of the 24th separate mechanised brigade named after King Danylo, who are now defending Bakhmut direction, were honoured with awards.

Head of Kurakhove City Military Administration, Roman Padun, said that after russian troops shelled Kurakhove on December 7, markets, shops and post offices were closed. They will be able to resume work after a special order.

‘Druh’ shelter in Kramatorsk was recently shelled by russian troops. Animals and people were not injured, but the premises were damaged and dog kennels were destroyed.

Luhansk oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk oblast, the occupation authorities are reorganising separate units. After these measures, the relatives of the killed servicemen are denied compensation of RUB 3 million due to disbandment of the unit and the lack of legal grounds.

Based on the information provided by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the evening report, russian command is disbanding units deployed in the occupied territory of Luhansk oblast not to pay compensation to the relatives of the victims.

Defense Forces units repelled attacks of russian invaders near Bilohorivka, Chervonopopivka, Ploshchanka and Stelmakhivka. The enemy is on the defensive in Kupiansk direction. They shelled Andriivka, Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka. Hrekivka, Makiivka, Nevske and Ploshchanka were targeted.

The Eastern Group of Forces Сouncillor, Serhii Cherevatyi, reported on the TV marathon that the russian armed forces are preparing for a counteroffensive in Luhansk frontline and are making attempts to counterattack. He emphasised that the situation at the front in Luhansk oblast is controlled, but still complicated. Ukrainian military command has information about russian troops concentrated there and uses the data when planning operations.

The Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported that the invaders are deporting elderly people from Sievierodonetsk. They say that to boarding institutions of the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic”. It is also unclear for what period – only winter time or forever. The conditions of getting there are not announced anywhere, people of different retirement age and even those who have survived accommodation but have no relatives nearby are taken away. The motives are clear. During the week, the invaders took another 22 elderly and disabled people out of the city.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, reported that the situation is difficult. Russians are attacking Bilohorivka around the clock, constantly shelling this settlement. According to him, the invaders have gathered a large amount of equipment in Kreminna and Svatove directions, trying to stop the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He noted that russians are shelling Krasnorichenske community. 15 people were evacuated from Makiivka in the morning. Yesterday the invaders shelled Nevske with three missiles. A residential building and outbuildings were destroyed. The depth of the crater reaches 9 metres, width – 20. People hide in the basements. Hundreds of trucks are carrying construction materials for defensive structures to Starobilsk. The invaders expect that after capturing Svatove the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be weakened.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The report of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights stated that 73 civilians – 54 men, 16 women, 2 boys, and 1 girl – have been confirmed and documented to be killed by the russian troops during the occupation of Bucha. The work to confirm 105 more alleged murders continues.

DTEK reported that power outages are taking place in Kyiv City and the oblast. Stabilization outage schedules are no longer relevant. According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, there is a significant 30% shortage of consumers’ needs in the power system of the oblast. This leads to certain disruptions in heat supply in buildings with centralized heating.

Over 4,300 facilities damaged by russian armed aggression have been restored in Kyiv oblast. Currently, repair crews are working at about 900 facilities. According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, repairs of 2,544 private houses and 521 high-rise buildings, 134 general secondary and preschool education institutions have already been completed. Dismantling of high-rise buildings in Irpin, Borodianka and other settlements of the oblast has also begun.

‘Vcentri Hub’ community centres in Kyiv continue to operate under martial law. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration has reported that since the beginning of the year, more than 20 thousand Kyiv residents have taken part in the events held in these centres. The hubs hold various workshops, first aid and mine safety training, educational events and activities for internally displaced persons, required by time and conditions.

Rehabilitation hub “Zakhysnyk (Defender)” for wounded Ukrainian servicemen is planned to be created in Makariv district. The institution will specialize in amputation-related injuries. A farm, dairy and meat production, a pottery workshop, and a restaurant will be arranged on the territory of the hub. The animal shelter on the territory of the hub will hold animal therapy classes for the military and rehabilitation of animals affected by the war. Participants for the Paralympic team of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be trained in the sports complex.

Irpin authorities will compensate the cost of generators purchased for boiler houses. The relevant decision was adopted by the members of the City Council. The program stipulates that the city will refund 50% of the cost of generators purchased to ensure the operation of heating systems in apartment buildings of the community.

According to the settlement military administration, families with children affected by hostilities can receive financial assistance in Hostomel community. Selection for participation in the program is carried out by the Ukrainian Foundation “Well-being of Children” and the German organization Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe.

The Kyiv City Council has reported that Taiwan will help Kyiv to purchase generators to equip invincibility centres. The Memorandum signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klychko and the charitable foundation “Darnychany” stipulates that Taiwan will allocate $1 million to purchase generators for invincibility centres of the capital. 

The Kyiv City Council has changed the names of 32 more streets, lanes, and boulevards whose names are associated with russia and the Soviet past. Druzhby Narodiv Boulevard is also among the de-russified streets.

The Irpin City Council reported that a charity screening of Michal Przedlacki’s documentary “Leaving Irpin” will be held in France. The screening will take place on December 16 in Cannes in the cinema “Espace Miramar”. In his movie, the author shows the life of civilians who tried to evacuate under shelling, risking to be injured or killed at any moment, the Ukrainian army, the terrorist defense and volunteers who risked their lives for the sake of strangers.

Zhytomyr oblast

The police of Zhytomyr oblast reported that a minibus, which drove to the roadside, exploded on a mine on the road between villages in Olevsk community. As a result, the couple died. Due to the tragic event, 8 children, all minors, became orphans.

Serhiy Sukhomlyn, the Mayor of Zhytomyr, has reported that about UAH 200 million has been allocated from Zhytomyr budget to support the military this year. According to him, the draft decision of the city council on approval of the community budget for 2023 also provides funds for these needs to respond to future challenges.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Zhytomyr oblast, the SSU has conducted security measures in women and men’s monasteries and in the Skete of the UOC (MP) in Korosten district. The purpose of counterintelligence measures is to detect and counteract subversive activities of russian special services in the religious environment of Ukraine. 

Residents of different oblasts with the criminal past were detected on the territory of the monastery, the hermitage and their contacts with subscribers in belarus and russia were established. Law enforcement officers found russian propaganda and religious literature.

Three-day Travelling International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival Docudays UA started in Zhytomyr. “State of emergency” is the theme of this year’s screenings. It was determined by the events taking place in Ukraine after the full-scale invasion of russian troops. Films on how the war affected people, their everyday life, our cities, the environment. The festival will feature an exhibition of photos of Mariupol defender and photographer of the “Azov” regiment Dmytro Kozatskyi with the call sign “Orest”.

Sumy oblast

Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, the head of Sumy Military Administration, has reported that yesterday, Znob-Novhorodske was shelled by the enemy. 11 mortar rounds exploded on the outskirts of one of the border villages.

In the morning, the russians opened mortar fire on Myropillia community, resulting in 15 explosions.

According to the “North” operation command, the border villages of Sosnivka and Khodyno also came under russian shelling. Khodyno was attacked twice in one day. Sosnivka was shelled from mortars. There were 20 incoming shells. Khodyno was attacked with AGS (5 incoming shells), and mortars (another 5 incoming shells).

The Sumy Regional Military Administration has reported that Sumy Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine received 10 starlink systems and 4 modern ambulances. Two CITROEN JUMPER class B vehicles and two VOLKSWAGEN Crafter ambulances are equipped with all necessary equipment.

According to the Konotop City Council, street car traffic was stopped in Konotop due to lack of voltage required for traction substations operation.

Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, the head of Sumy Military Administrationm, has reported that a branch of the Heart Institute will be opened in Sumy oblast. Residents of the oblast will be able to receive highly specialized cardiological and cardiac surgery care, which they can now receive only in Kyiv.

Chernihiv oblast

The “North” operation command reported yesterday, the enemy again attacked the border areas of Chernihiv oblast. There were 16 mortar shells fired at the village of Hremiach.

Chilean architect Christian Wittig met with Chernihiv Regional Military Administration representative Kostiantyn Megem to discuss the reconstruction of Chernihiv oblast. Wittig is a consulting architect for Thought, Integral Infrastructure and Urban Planning Solutions and a strategic consultant for La Fuente. Previously, he participated in projects to restore de-occupied Irpin.

Vyacheslav Chaus, the head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, has reported that the soldiers of the 119th Territorial Defence Brigade received a bus from philanthropists. The Setra bus was given to the soldiers by Lithuanian communities of Kretinga and the district. The defenders received honorary awards from the Regional Military Administration for diligent performance of their duties and courage.

World Day of Ukrainian Headscarf was celebrated in Chernihiv oblast. The holiday, founded three years ago, is celebrated on December 7. Local lyceum, children’s library and the Kozelets Museum of Weaving History held the celebrations in Kozelets. The Kozelets Museum of Weaving History invites visitors to get acquainted with the products that the museum workers have been collecting for more than 30 years, and which reflect the weaving features of almost all districts of Chernihiv oblast.

Chernihiv Regional Military Administration signed a Memorandum on further cooperation with the international organisation Global Communities. During two years of cooperation within the framework of the DOBRE programme, 64 projects – from advanced training to creation and arrangement of industrial space – have already been implemented.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Mykola Lukashuk, the head of the regional council, reported about the 13-hour air alert due to the threat of shelling and 7 enemy attacks during the night in Nikopol region.

The enemy fired more than 70 shells in the area from heavy artillery and MLRS. The occupiers attacked Nikopol, Marhanets and Chervonohryhorivka communities. 

The photo exhibition “peRE:selentsi” by Svitlana Korableva from Mariupol was opened in Dnipro. It presents 30 stories of internally displaced persons in 30 photographs. In November 2022, the artist held a charity photo session in Cherkasy, where she invited evacuated residents of Mariupol. She asked them to bring the most valuable things that they managed to take out of their homes.

Vinnytsia oblast

In Vinnytsia, the consultation center of the central region of the Coordination Headquarters on the treatment of prisoners of war was opened. Its curator, Yuliya Pryimak, says that they will work with the families of prisoners. Legal consultations and psychological assistance will be provided.

According to the head of the Vinnytsia Regional Council, Viacheslav Sokolovy, residents of Vinnytsia communities, deputies, farmers and entrepreneurs joined the charity initiative. They collected water, fruits and vegetables, bread and milk, cereals and stew, oil, sugar and flour. In total, 20 tons of humanitarian cargo were sent from Vinnytsia to Kherson region.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, the Museum of Arts will exhibit photos of fallen soldiers of the Azov Regiment. The photo exhibition is called “My heart is steel, my blood is Azov!”. In its exhibition there are 176 portraits of the fallen heroes from different regions of Ukraine and  their personal belongings. A family of fallen heroes of the “Azov” regiment organized the photo show.

Poltava oblast

Dmytro Lunin, the head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, announced  another batch of winter uniforms was sent to defenders from Poltava oblast. Soldiers of the 116th brigade of Territorial Defense received another 1,320 sets of clothing today. 1,300 units of the uniform were provided earlier.

Due to the destruction of the energy infrastructure by the russian army, today Poltava oblast receives approximately three times less electricity than a year ago. Dmytro Lunin, the head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, announced this during an online press conference. According to the data, the critical infrastructure in the region now consumes approximately 100-150 MW of electric energy per hour, while consumers in queues consume 140-200 MW.

Cherkasy oblast

Mayor Ihor Renkas announced that part of the critical infrastructure facilities of Kaniv were equipped with generators. They were sent by sister cities so that the city could function during the blackout.

In Cherkasy, “Spring meet us not there” photo exhibition of 25 pictures by a soldier of the 118th brigade of Cherkasy Territorial Defense Volodymyr Paradnyi was opened. Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to the Military Administration, the situation towards Zaporizhzhia has not changed significantly. The defenders are holding the line and giving a worthy rebuff to russian occupation troops. According to the police, the occupiers fired at civilian infrastructure in 18 settlements of the oblast. There were 18 reports of destruction of civilian houses and  infrastructure as a result of russian shelling. One civilian was injured. In total 86 attacks were carried out in the oblast during the day. Russian troops attacked civilian settlements 40 times: they made one air launch, seven from MLRS, 32 artillery attacks.

In the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast, to replenish current losses, russian invaders plan to mobilize local residents. In the city of Melitopol, men of military age were summoned to come to the military commissariat in the near future.

Civilians were evacuated from the temporarily occupied territory. 44 people were evacuated, including 1 child.

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that the Ukrainian government cooperates with the UN nuclear agency and the IAEA to establish a safety zone around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. “Ukraine is moving step by step in full mutual understanding with the IAEA to create a security zone around Zaporizhzhia NPP,” the Minister said. According to him, Ukraine maintains close contacts with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, who is trying to reach an agreement that would protect the plant and the surrounding area from hostilities. 

It is reported that russians brought “Grad” systems to the territory of the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP, Enerhoatom reports. According to their information, the most likely variant of provocation is shelling from the Zaporizhzhia NPP site to the other side of the Dnipro, specifically Nikopol and Marhanets. 

Mykolaiv oblast

The military administration informed that Mykolaiv was subject to another russian missile attack, according to preliminary information from the C-300 missile system. The hits were recorded on the territories of transport enterprises, and the equipment was damaged. The shelling took place outside one of the settlements of the Kutsurubska community, the enemy also struck the port territory of the Ochakiv hromada with MLRS.

Denmark donated 50 reverse osmosis systems for water purification to Mykolaiv. Some of them have already been delivered and installed in the city. This was reported by the Danish Embassy in Ukraine. The systems will supply not only drinking water, but also clean water for central heating. Since April, Mykolaiv has been left without a water supply because russians damaged the water pipeline in Kherson region.

Due to the warfare in Mykolaiv region, farmers have not been able to harvest 40% of the crop. This was stated by the First Deputy Head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, Heorhii Reshetylov. This year, about 2 million tons of cereals and legumes were harvested, but 30% of the territory was not processed or harvested due to hostilities. According to Reshetylov, losses have been calculated at UAH 54 million (about USD 1.3 million), but the process of assessing losses and damage from the russian aggression to the agrarians of the oblast is still ongoing. Currently, farmers are calculating their losses, which include stolen equipment, grain, and destroyed facilities. In the feede territories, the owners are just returning and starting the process of calculation.

Odesa oblast

The security situation in Odesa oblast, according to the military administration: 13 russian warships are in the Black Sea. Among them there is one missile carrier, which can launch 4 Kalibr missiles.

Anton Shalyhaylo, Director of the Department of Housing and Energy Efficiency of Odesa Regional State Administration, said that currently, the oblast is facing one of the worst situations with electricity supply, transformers are failing and burning due to overload. According to the official, emergency work has been done to restore the power system of the city after the missile strike. But there are still cases of network overload. Teams of workers are on the ground repairing power grids. They try to return electricity to the homes of Odesa residents as soon as possible.

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported that 3 vessels with 78.6 thousand tons of agricultural products for Africa and Asia left the ports of Odesa under the “grain deal”. Currently, 20 more vessels are under processing in the ports of Odesa. They load 557.4 thousand tons of Ukrainian agricultural products. 4 vessels are moving along the “grain corridor” to load 80 thousand tons of agricultural products. In general, since August 1, 531 vessels have left the ports of Odesa, which exported 13.3 million tons of Ukrainian food to Asia, Europe and Africa.

According to the Deputy Mayor of Odesa, Serhii Tetiukhin, Odesa will receive 9 generators from the German government. From the twin city of Constanţa (Romania), 50 generators have already been received. This is the first stage of the supply of generators, which will ensure operation of the critical infrastructure of the city. The generators from Constanţa will be used to equip invincibility centers and bomb shelters.

Kherson oblast

The head of the Military Administration said russian occupiers shelled the territory of Kherson oblast 30 times. Peaceful settlements of the oblast suffered from enemy strikes with artillery, MLRS, tanks and mortars. Russian shelling damaged civilian infrastructure and residential buildings. Russian attacks killed 2 civilians and injured 1 more local.

The head of the military administration also reported on the restoration measures in newly reclaimed territories. Specialists restored the work of 4 mobile communication base stations. In total, operators have restored 102 base and 3 mobile stations in the liberated Kherson oblast. 32 crews are working to restore electricity. In a number of villages, natural gas distribution to household consumers continues to be resumed step by step, damaged sections of the networks are being repaired and gas is being supplied to the settlements. In Kherson, centralized water supply has been restored by 90%. The process of connecting consumers continues.

Explosive experts of the National Police inspected almost 11 hectares of territory, seized 121 explosive items, and destroyed 38. Pyrotechnics of the State Emergencies Service inspected more than 12 hectares of the territory, seized and defused 301 explosive items.

Russian soldiers seized an agricultural enterprise during the occupation of a village in Beryslav region. They settled on its territory, where they stored shells and ammunition. Currently, law enforcement officers of Ukraine are inspecting the place and conducting investigative activities. According to them, the occupiers, while leaving, damaged property and stole agricultural machinery. They left behind destroyed outbuildings and left ammunition. The prosecutors of the regional prosecutor’s office, police investigators and experts examined this place of deployment of the russian army.

The consequences of russian looting continue to be recorded in Kherson. The Kherson Art Museum reported about the devastated funds on the official page of the institution. “The lists of stolen items are still being compiled, the exact amount of the stolen items is still unknown, but we understand that over 10K exhibits were stolen, which was confirmed by the management of the Central Museum of Tavrida in Crimea, where the occupiers took the works of art,” the statement said.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

In the RMA a meeting with the Head of the UN Women in Ukraine project, Nurhul Asylbeikova, was held. They discussed the needs of IDPs, issues of support for pregnant women with disabilities and HIV/AIDS, etc.

A new fire department was opened in the village of Pidberezzia in Volyn. Thanks to the international organization Hoverla, firefighters received a fire truck with a set of special equipment, new combat clothing and protective equipment.

Zakarpattia oblast

Zakarpattia received humanitarian cargo from representatives of the Accredited Detached Unit of the Hungarian Ecumenical Aid Service in Ukraine. 46 generators of different power (from 2 to 19 kW) and a truck with baby food were delivered.

Zakarpattia now has its UN representative Yuliia Plysko expressing the opinion of local and regional authorities. Zakarpattia received a unique and unprecedented opportunity for direct contact with members of the EU Committee of Regions in the Brussels office.

The Uzhhorod City Council sent 18 tonnes of aid to Kherson oblast. The boxes contain pasta, canned goods, sugar, oil, flour, baby food and hygiene products.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, at a meeting of the executive committee, social aid was allocated for 43 children of military personnel and for 17 military communities who received combat wounds at the front. The committee also allocated one-time financial aid for 4 families of fallen soldiers.

The City Council of Ivano-Frankivsk handed over Orders for Courage III degree (posthumously) to the families of fallen Heroes. State awards were given to Denys Boltyan, Serhiy Zhukovsky, Mykhailo Andrushevsky and Volodymyr Grechanyk.

In Ivano-Frankivsk, a charity auction of children’s products was held. The children drew on large-caliber shells and on fired tubes. Volunteers brought them from the front as souvenirs. The funds raised at the event will be allocated to the needs of the Armed Forces.

In Verkhovyna district, the project Verkhovynka-Verkhovyntsi was launched in support of the Defenders of Ukraine from Hutsul region. The project is aimed at helping female military servicemen, as part of which compatriots send required things to female defenders.

Lviv oblast

A mobile hospital, which has no analogues either in Ukraine or in the world, was sent to Lviv oblast. The hospital is equipped with two operating tables, five intensive care units, dentistry, ultrasound machines and ventilators, vital activity monitors and other means for providing primary medical care. The hospital was created by German engineers and doctors in cooperation with the NGO Innovation Fund. The cost of the hospital is EUR 150K.

In RMA, a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the US to Ukraine Bridget Ann Brink was held. They discussed supporting the oblast during the war.

As part of the Energy Security Project implemented in Ukraine by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Lvivteploenergo will receive mobile boilers on solid fuel, diesel generators, steel pipes and spare parts that will make it possible to eliminate emergency situations on heat networks as quickly as possible.

In Lviv, an office America House Lviv opened. This is a cultural and educational center that will promote volunteer activities, co-working, etc.

A soldier of the 103rd Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces received the award named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi for the best coverage of military themes in works of literature and art. Nazar Pavlyk was presented with an award for curating the play Life of PS.

Students of Ivan Franko Drohobych State Pedagogical University organized a fund-raising event for the Armed Forces of Ukraine called Warm a soldier with the warmth of your heart. The collected over UAH 60K were used to purchase 10 metal furnaces for heating.

Rivne oblast

The road workers of Rivne oblast sent a car and two unmanned aerial vehicles to the front. The team of Service of highways in Rivne oblast collected about UAH 300K for the purchase.

The Horodotsk community handed over a car for the Armed Forces. The car was purchased thanks to the joint efforts of the employees of the Horodotsk village council and the residents of the community.

Head of the RMA, Vitaliy Koval, announced that in Rivne, individual heat points and boiler houses in the North district will be powered up in parallel, and generators will be connected where this is impossible.

The CF Voluntary aid Rivne sent washing machines, refrigerators and ceramic heating panels to the Urvensk psychoneurological boarding school. The school sheltered 185 IDPs with special needs who came from the Kamyshiv and Pokrovsky boarding schools in Donetsk oblast.

Berezniv Territorial Community collected humanitarian aid for the residents of the liberated territories of Kherson oblast. Over 10 tonnes of food, warm clothes and hygiene products were sent.

In Rivne oblast over 1,7K displaced persons received assistance from the CF Rokada. This month, the fund delivered humanitarian aid to 4 places of compact residence for IDPs.

Mayor of Rivne Oleksandr Tretyak visited the city of Rzeszow, where he took part in the international forum World for Ukraine, dedicated to helping Ukraine.

Ternopil oblast

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the commander of the 44th separate artillery brigade named after Hetman Danylo Apostol, colonel Roman Dudchenko with the honorary award For Courage and Courage.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

In the RMA, a meeting with representatives of public organizations created by natives to oblasts affected by hostilities was held. Its purpose is to establish effective communication with representatives of those oblasts whose residents have found shelter in Khmelnytskyi oblast.

The government of Netish will partially compensate the cost of generators for residents and businesses. Action programs applies to individual entrepreneurs, homeowners, condominiums and managers of multi-apartment buildings. The compensation percentage has not yet been announced.

Chernivtsi oblast

Three modern excavators and additional equipment were purchased for Chernivtsiteplokomunenergo. Teplokomunenergo noted that this will make work easier and faster in case of damage.

In Chernivtsi, the hypermarket Epicentr is holding a promotion called It’s easy to give warmth. Each visitor is offered to fulfil a wish of a student of Chernivtsi specialized boarding school #4. Postcards with children’s wishes hang on the Christmas tree and anyone can make a young dreamer happy.

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of South Korea announced that Ukraine received humanitarian aid, namely 100 pickup trucks and five mini-excavators, from South Korea.

In Georgia, activists collected funds for 200 generators for Ukraine. In eight days, over a thousand people made donations and nine people provided generators.

The football club Real Madrid will present 20 electric generators to Ukraine. They supported the initiative of Shakhtar, which previously announced a campaign to collect generators for residents of Ukraine from football clubs.

Head of the Defense Committee of the Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman, said that the US would support Germany’s decision to transfer tanks to Ukraine.

Head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced the ninth package of sanctions against the russian federation. It includes almost 200 individuals and legal entities, restrictive measures against three russian banks, a ban on russia’s access to drones, including through third countries, and new means of export control.

The US Senate committee approved a resolution recognizing the actions of the russian federation against the Ukrainian people as genocide.

In 2023, Lithuania will train twice as many Ukrainian military personnel compared to this year.

The Working Group of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development on Combating Bribery in International Business Transactions supported granting Ukraine the status of a member of the group.

Canada and the Netherlands joined the case Ukraine vs. russian federation at the International Court of Justice of the United Nations. The countries have submitted a joint application to the Secretariat of the Court to join the case on charges of genocide.

The UN published a report on killings of civilians by the russian military in the north of Ukraine. The murders of 441 people, including 28 children, were confirmed. Work continues to confirm another 198 murders.

President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Miryana Spolarich-Egger, arrived in Ukraine on a four-day visit, during which she plans to visit Kherson oblast and Mykolaiv.

Estonia, following Latvia and Lithuania, stopped broadcasting the russian TV channel Dozhd.

“Ukraine has the right to defend itself not only on its own territory,” spokesman of the German federal government, Steffen Gebestreit said.

The speakers of the parliaments of Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania called on the world to maintain and increase the sanctions pressure on the russian federation.

Mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi met with Pope Francis in the Vatican. The leader of Lviv presented the Pope with a cross with a fragment of a russian rocket. Andriy Sadovyi wrote on his Facebook page that the medic removed this fragment from the body of the thirteen-year-old girl Nastia. The cross should remind the Pope every day of the price paid by Ukrainians for truth and freedom.
