War in Ukraine today: latest news, December 02, 2022 (photo)

It has been the 282nd day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6pm:   

The russian occupiers have launched 13 air strikes on the positions of our troops along the contact line and 4 missile strikes on civilian targets in the cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, the settlement of Zarichne, Zaporizhzhia oblast and the city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk oblast. The enemy also carried out more than 10 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on the civilian infrastructure of Kherson, Antonivka and the positions of our troops along the contact line. 

There is still a threat of launching missile strikes on the energy system and critical infrastructure throughout Ukraine.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, the situation has not changed significantly. There are no signs of enemy offensive groups being formed.

Towards Siversk, there was mortar and artillery shelling of the settlements of Hremiach and Hai in Chernihiv oblast and Novovasylivka, Khodyne, Vovkivka, Yunakivka and Zapsillia in Sumy oblast.

Towards Sloboda, Huriv, Veterynarne, Kozacha Lopan, Vysoka Yaruha, Hlyboke, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Budarky and Bolohivka of Kharkiv oblast were shelled from mortars, barreled and rocket artillery.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy is defending, shelling Berestove, Vyshneve, Dvorichna, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka and Tabaivka in Kharkiv oblast and Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk oblast. There were airstrikes launched near Kyslivka and Novoselivske.

Towards Lyman and Bakhmut, the enemy continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive operations. Ploshchanka, Makiivka and Terny in Luhansk oblast and Verkhnekamianske, Sprne, Bilohorivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Niu York and Opytne in Donetsk oblast were shelled from the entire spectrum of artillery. 

Towards Avdiivka, the enemy is trying to improve its tactical position. Avdiivka, Vodiane, Krasnohorivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka of Donetsk oblast were subject to fire damage from artillery of various types.

Towards Novopavlivka, the invaders are conducting defensive actions. They carried out shelling from mortars, barreled and rocket artillery in the areas of Vuhledar, Pavlivka and Prechystivka in Donetsk oblast. Also, near Vuhledar, there were enemy airstrikes.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy strengthens its forward positions and defends itself. The areas of Vremivka in Donetsk oblast, Dorozhnianka, Zahirne, Zaliznychne, Orikhiv, Novoandriivka, Mali Shcherbaky and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhia oblast and Nikopol and Sholokhove, Dnipropetrovsk oblast were hit.

Towards Kherson, the enemy is defending itself. He shelled the settlements located on the right bank of the Dnipro River, namely, Zolota Balka, Havrylivka, Kachkarivka, Ivanivka, Ingulets, Mykilske, Darivka, Molodizhne, Zelenivka and Dniprovske, Kherson oblast. Also, the occupiers do not stop terrorizing civilians in Kherson and its suburbs with shelling.

In the settlement of Mykhailivka, which is on the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast, to accuse the Defense Forces of Ukraine of destroying civilian infrastructure, the enemy set fire to the building of Mykhailivka Higher Vocational School.

The enemy continues to suffer losses. Thus, on December 1, the fire damage was confirmed in the area of a buildup of enemy manpower in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia oblast, near the settlement of Kamianske. The losses of the occupiers amounted to 100 people wounded. In addition, on the same day, an enemy helicopter was shot down in the Kupyansk region of Kharkiv oblast.

From November 30 to December 1, up to 70 bodies of the dead occupiers were delivered to the city of Horlivka, Donetsk oblast, as a result of hostilities towards Bakhmut.

Ukrainian aviation has inflicted 8 strikes on buildups of personnel, weapons and military equipment, 2 strikes on the positions of enemy anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as a strike on its platoon stronghold.

Units of  rocket forces and artillery of the Defense Forces hit 5 control points, a position of the enemy’s air defense, 2 ammunition depots, 9 buildups of personnel and weapons and military equipment and 4 other important enemy targets.


President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informs that since the beginning of a full-scale war, 1331 military and civilians have been released from captivity. 

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the decree of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions of some representatives of religious organizations affiliated with centres of influence in the russian federation. This decision was made after checking the activities of religious organizations on the territory of Ukraine amid russia’s military aggression in order to ensure spiritual independence, prevent divisions in society on religious grounds, promote consolidation of Ukrainian society and protect Ukraine’s national interests.


Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, our soldiers shot down a russian helicopter in the Kupiansk region.

Kharkiv Mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said at the press conference that about 500 buildings in Kharkiv will be impossible to restore. Approximate losses as a result of the war make USD 9 billion. 150 K people were left homeless as a result of the war. The mayor noted that russian troops damaged 109 schools, 110 kindergartens and 53 medical institutions.

On December 1, hot lunch distribution points started operating in Kharkiv. In the Industrial district, cooks have been preparing menus and cooking for residents since the morning. Cook Svitlana Melnikova informed that they have prepared 300 meals, but plan to cook even more.

The Kupiansk region is under intense shelling again. The invaders continue to destroy civilian infrastructure. Fires broke out in garages. Cars and outbuildings burned down as a result of shelling.

russians are also launching artillery strikes on Vovchansk and the settlements, damaging private agricultural equipment as a result of one of the attacks.

Around midnight in Kluhyno-Bashkyrivka village, the invaders hit a residential building with an S-300 missile. A 67-year-old woman was injured and hospitalised in a medical institution, where she received medical care. The patient will continue treatment on an outpatient basis. Another 24-year-old woman got medical aid on the spot. There are partial destructions of a five-storey residential building. According to the head of Chuhuiv City Military Administration, Halyna Minaieva, people whose apartments were damaged will be provided with temporary accommodation.

Besides, in the morning of December 2, a wedding was held in the neighbouring porch of the building, which was hit by a russian missile in Kluhyno-Bashkirivka at night. Newlyweds Ania and Dmytro decided not to cancel the wedding because of the russian attack.

A tractor, which was hit by russians on December 1, burned down in Vovchansk near the border. The Regional State Emergency Service reported that the fire was extinguished in less than an hour. Also, as a result of shelling, VAZ-21118 burned down in Kolodiazne village, Dvorichna community. The fire engulfed the garage and the roof of the summer kitchen, rescuers extinguished the fire in 2.5 hours. In Kozacha Lopan, dead wood burned as a result of shelling, the fire spread over an area of 500 square metres.

Donetsk oblast

At night, russians were shelling the frontline from the Kurakhove community to the Chasiv Yar community.

Towards Donetsk, Berestky and Kurakhove were shelled. Fortunately, there were no casualties but there are numerous damages to private and apartment buildings, the exact extent of which is being established.

Towards Horlivka, the downtown Chasiv Yar was hit – the roof and windows of a house were damaged. The outskirts of Soledar and Toretsk communities were also shelled. There were no casualties.

Head of the Kostiantynivka City Military Administration, Oleksii Roslov, reported about the hit in downtown. No one was injured, but 3 administrative buildings and 2 three-storey buildings were damaged.

Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, informed that yesterday russians injured 6 civilians: 4 in Bakhmut and 2 in Kurakhove.

The Vladimir Lenin monument was returned to its pedestal in the temporarily occupied Svitlodarsk. In the city, the invaders found  a pedestal demolished almost nine years ago. The head of the northeastern department of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Mariia Takhtaulova, said that as of October 2016, 76 Soviet monuments, including 43 Lenin monuments, were dismantled in Donetsk oblast when implementing the law on decommunisation.

Luhansk oblast

Defence Forces units repelled enemy attacks in Bilohorivka, Chervonopopivka, Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka. russians are on the defensive towards Kupiansk and Lyman. They targeted Makiivka, Miasozharivka, Ploshchanka and Stelmakhivka with tanks and various artillery.

According to the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are very close to Kreminna.

Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, reported that towards Kreminna and Svatove, the invaders used a huge number of personnel and equipment, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine succeeded there and will gradually move forward. He also noted that russians are attacking Bilohorivka round the clock and Starobilsk as it is a logistics centre, so russian paratroopers from Kherson direction were sent there

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

British TV host and traveller Ber Grylls came to Kyiv. He announced a special episode of his program – Survive At Any Cost – with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The President thanked the famous British journalist for his attention to our country and dissemination of information on the war in Ukraine.

The Bucha Council reported that for two days, Kyiv oblast has been without stable electricity supply. According to DTEK, this emergency outage may last for the weekend and only on Monday it will probably be possible to return to scheduled outages.

According to YASNO, Kyiv has increased the limit on electricity consumption, but the capital is gradually approaching scheduled blackouts.

At the Kyiv Security Forum, Mayor Vitalii Klytschko said that 350 residential buildings  were damaged by enemy missile strikes in Kyiv. In total, 678 infrastructure facilities of the city were destroyed or damaged, including 77 educational institutions, 80 housing and communal facilities, 25 transport facilities and 26 healthcare buildings.

According to Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, 3.35 million people live in Kyiv as of autumn. Before the full-scale war, 3.6 million people were constantly staying in the capital, during the day this figure could increase to 4.8 million due to workers from the oblast. The number of city residents was calculated by analyzing mobile traffic.

A practical seminar on peculiarities of police work in the conditions of armed aggression of the russian federation was held in Kyiv. Head of the National Police Ihor Klymenko noted that from the first day of the war, the Situation Center of the National Police was deployed, 300 remote call lines created, and a hotline for searching for relatives opened. Police officers are engaged in evacuating people from hot spots.

According to Ukrinform, a press conference dedicated to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 took place in the capital. At the event, fragments of the  finalists’ songs were presented and the draw was held to determine the order of performances in the final. The event was held at the Media Center Ukraine.

Zhytomyr oblast

Mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn warned people about power outages in some districts of Zhytomyr oblast. The outages were caused by overloads in the network in the oblast.

The Supreme Court upheld the decision of the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office on the illegality of transferring the Tereshchenko Palace in Chervone to the ownership of the Zhytomyr Eparchy of the UOC-MP. Earlier, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Berdychiv region established the illegal disposal of state-owned property. In particular, the palace itself and part of the surrounding area were transferred to the Moscow church for free, and later – to private ownership.

The Security Service of Ukraine checks monasteries of the UOC-Moscow Patriarchate in Zhytomyr oblast. It is reported about counterintelligence (security) measures taken place at the facilities of the UOC-MP in Zhytomyr oblast. Considering the armed aggression of russia, measures are taken to prevent the use of religious communities as a center of the “russian world” and protect the population from provocations and terrorist acts.

The ‘Live letters’ initiative continues for wounded servicemen who are being treated in the oblast. The event is attended by children of the oblast and IDPs of all ages. It is planned to send 700 letters to the Ukrainian military, more than 250 have already been written.

Sumy oblast

Dmytro Zhyvytskyi, Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported that 180 shells and mortar rounds were launched by the russians to the border territories of Sumy oblast over the past 24 hours. Shalyhine, Esman, Yunakivka, Znob-Novohradske, and Miropilllia communities were under enemy fire. As a result of shelling, a fire broke out, a granary and power lines were damaged.

Women are taught the basics of self-defense in Sumy. As part of the Aware and Protected project, the participants are trained how to protect themselves from attackers. Patrol police inspectors conduct this self-defense training. The project was created by the NGO League of Modern Women with the support of the International Medical Corps.

The City Council reported that Sumy received 20 tonnes of humanitarian aid from the German city of Celle. The cargo includes food, New Year’s gifts for children, hygiene products, medicines, and medical equipment. This is the third humanitarian cargo since the beginning of the full-scale invasion from the German sister city of Sumy.

Chernihiv oblast

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported that from the territory of Russia, the enemy troops once again opened fire on the border of Chernihiv oblast. 6 120-mm mortar shells were recorded near Senkivka, 1 mortar shell and 3 machine gun bursts – near Vintorivka.

Chernihiv’s partnership with German Aachen and French Reims was approved at the City Council session. Head of Aachen Sibbila Koipen addressed the community and deputies of the city via video link.

According to the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration, Sednivka, Olyshivka, Semenivka, and Mena communities have been provided with generators of different capacities. Another batch of high-power generators, which came from Rockwool, will also be distributed among the communities of the oblast in a timely manner.

The program for paying benefits to citizens whose private houses were damaged has been extended in Chernihiv. The relevant decision was approved at the meeting of the City Council. 78 residents of houses affected by russian shelling received financial support in the amount of almost UAH 1.2 million. The total number of damaged private houses in Chernihiv is 2,783.

All libraries that were operating at the time of the russian invasion resumed their work in the de-occupied Chernihiv oblast. 11 libraries have started working again after repairing the buildings damaged by russian aggressors or moved to other libraries. This is evidenced by the research “Public libraries of Ukraine in the context of russian armed aggression”.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

At night, the enemy fired several times at the Nikopol region with heavy artillery, firing about 40 shells. Nikopol and the Marhanets community came under enemy fire. 

Head of the Regional Council, Mykola Lukashuk, says that the occupying forces of the Russian Federation again shelled Nikopol with heavy artillery. one of the enterprises was targeted. In the evening there was a second round of shelling in the city. The russians also hit the Krasnohryhorivka community in the Nikopol region. A store, four private houses, outbuildings, and power grids were damaged.

Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Valentyn Reznichenko informs that several trucks with the most necessary were sent from Dnipropetrovsk oblast to Kherson oblast. The cargo includes generators, chainsaws and food sets with flour, oil, pasta and much more.

Vinnytsia oblast

The Vinnytsia City Council informs that with the support of Karlsruhe, mobile Points of Invincibility were installed in Vinnitsa. Ten tents are operating in different districts of the city. The cargo included tents and necessary equipment.

In Vinnytsia, a Children’s Space was opened to provide support from a child psychologist, and help for mothers who breastfeed. As the project coordinators said, every child will be able to find activities according to the age and interests there. They also offer help to children who have lost their parents, cancer patients, children with disabilities, and those traumatized by the war.

Kirovohrad oblast

According to Head of the Kirovohrad Regional State Administration Andrii Raikovych, 

six defenders from the oblast returned home from enemy captivity. 

Poltava oblast

According to Dmytro Lunin, Head of the Poltava Regional State Administration, 17 residents of Checheleve, the Kamianopotokiv community,  whose  houses were damaged or destroyed as a result of an  airstrike will receive compensation from the regional budget. 

Cherkasy oblast

According to Head of the Cherkasy State Administration Ihor Taburets, scouts of one of the powerful brigades were reinforced with drones. 

25 photographs dedicated to the life of the Ukrainian military are being prepared for the exhibition in the Kulyk city cultural center in Cherkasy. The author of the photos Volodymyr Paradny, a soldier of the 118th brigade,  has been taking photos since March of this year.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

According to the National Police in Zaporizhzhia oblast, the occupiers shelled civilian infrastructure in 19 settlements. There were 13 reports of destruction of houses and civilian infrastructure as a result of shelling by the russian military. In one of the villages, an administrative building, where all necessary services were located, was almost completely destroyed as a result of a missile hit. 

 69 civilians, including 10 children, were evacuated from the temporarily occupied territory.

Mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov reported that during the last weeks, at the checkpoints the russian military does not let out men of military age from the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia oblast. No more than 10 people per day can leave the occupied Melitopol and the oblast. The mayor noted that the invaders explain this by the fact that men who leave for the government-controlled territory will be mobilized. But in fact, they carry out mobilization in the occupied territories and therefore do not let the citizens leave. He also noted that in one of the resort villages of Melitopol region, the occupiers form barracks in the territory of sanatoriums. There are about thousands of units of military equipment and tens of thousands of soldiers.

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi stated that “serious progress has been made” in negotiations on the safety zone around the Zaporizhzhіa nuclear power plant, and an agreement may be reached by the end of the year. The parties have reached an agreement on some fundamental principles. Asked whether russia accepts Ukraine’s demand to withdraw weapons and military from the territory of ZNPP, Grossi said that the russian side “is not against the agreement and the principle of protecting the plant”.

Mykolaiv oblast

According to Head of the regional military administration Vitaliy Kim, russian troops struck the water area of the Ochakiv community. He also said that russians destroyed about 13,500 business facilities in the occupied territories of Mykolaiv oblast. Among the destroyed assets are 12 largest agricultural enterprises in the oblast. It is not yet possible to calculate damages. At the same time, criminal proceedings on these damages continue to be registered. He added that during the full-scale war, tax revenues from production in Mykolaiv decreased fivefold.

Also, according to media reports with references to the military administration, 17 civilian objects were damaged by russian shelling in Mykolaiv oblast. To eliminate the consequences of the russian aggression, the SES units removed 51 shells.

Currently, work to restore gas and electricity supply in the settlements affected by the war continues. At present, 6,352 consumers are without gas supply. Electricity, water supply, and sewerage are cut off in 82 settlements.

27,751 people have been evacuated from Mykolaiv oblast.

Odesa oblast

Spokesman of the Odesa regional military administration Serhii Bratchuk said that there are  7 russian ships in the Black Sea. There are no missile carriers among them at the moment. However, there is still a threat of missile strikes.

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reports that the third ship has entered the port of Odesa to load 25 K tonnes of humanitarian wheat from Ukraine for Somalia under the program launched by President Zelenskyy in partnership with the UN World Food Program. Its goal is to help poor countries fight hunger. The second vessel today completes loading 30 K tonnes of wheat in the port of Chornomorsk, which will be sent to Ethiopia. According to the report, by the end of spring, Odesa ports are expected to receive more than 60 vessels and deliver Ukrainian wheat to poor countries. Also, within the Grain Initiative, 7 ships with 287.4 K tonnes of agricultural products leave the ports of Greater Odesa for Asian countries, including Indonesia, which is suffering from the food crisis. Since the launch of the Grain Corridor, Ukraine has exported 12.7 million tonnes of agricultural products.

Kherson oblast

Head of Kherson City Military Administration Halyna Luhova informed that russian occupation troops attacked Kherson with missiles 12 times, and there were wounded and killed. According to her, since November 20, 119 missile strikes were recorded in Kherson, 19 people were killed, and 37 injured, including one child. Head of the regional military administration Yaroslav Yanushevych also reported that in total russian occupants shelled the territory of Kherson oblast 42 times. Three people were killed, and seven more residents received injuries of varying severity. He noted that russians purposefully attack the civilian infrastructure of the region and kill civilians.

Head of the Military Administration, Yaroslav Yanushevych, informed that the residents of the liberated settlements of Kherson oblast received humanitarian aid, including canned food and food sets from the World Food Programme, firewood, fuel briquettes, and more than a thousand construction kits from UNHCR Ukraine. Also, 200 cubic meters of gabions –  structures that will protect infrastructure facilities from enemy shelling – were delivered to Kherson oblast.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

As a result of another exchange of prisoners, 50 Ukrainian defenders returned home. Among them are two native of Volyn – Viktor Yatseniuk from the Kovel region, who has been in captivity since September and Petro Klysh from the Kamin-Kashir region, who was considered missing.

 Invincibility Centres in Lutsk received modern medical equipment – 4 defibrillators and 6 Ambu bags for cardiopulmonary resuscitation donated by the Canadian Ukraine Medical Support through the NGO Medicine in Action.

Thanks to citizens’ taxes, the Lviv City Hall  sent 347 more pairs of winter shoes to the 125th Territorial Defense Brigade. Also, the staff was fully provided with caps, buffs, thermal clothing, etc.

Head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, gave awards and prize weapons to Volyn policemen from the Defense Forces protecting Ukraine.

Mayor Ihor Polishchuk met with the mothers and wives of servicemen from the 2nd Rifle Battalion and the 115th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, who are either in captivity or considered missing.

In one of the cities in Volyn, young people held a rally in support of the city of Bakhmut. They made letters-banners to compose the word Bakhmut. They were hung above the road in a park near the monument to the Fighters for Freedom and Independence of Ukraine.

Zakarpattia oblast

Head of the RMA, Viktor Mykyta is in Kyiv on a working visit to discuss issues of energy supply in Zakarpattia and stabilization of power supply schedules in local communities.

The remainder of the oblast’s budget funds for 2022 will be directed to the needs of the military and communal institutions hosting IDPs. 

For the fourth time, Romanian benefactors visited the Svaliava Regional Children’s Home on a humanitarian mission. They brought beds, mattresses for IDPs, clothes and hygiene products for pets.

The first Skovoroda Express departs from Uzhgorod to Kharkiv. Ukrzaliznytsia immortalized the journey route of the Ukrainian educator-humanist, poet, teacher to celebrate the 300th anniversary of his birth. The train’s departure and arrival will be accompanied by a musical dedication by Ukrainian virtuoso pianist Yevhen Khmara.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

During the 280 days of full-scale war in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, there were 241 air alarm signals.

The RMA reported that Head of the oblast, Svitlana Onyshchuk, awarded the soldiers of the 80th Separate Airborne Assault Brigade with the highest award of the oblast – the medal For Merit to the Carpathians.

In the RMA, a meeting with representatives of Help Age International was held. They discussed support to elderly people who suffered from the war, providing them with social and medical assistance, meeting their basic needs.

Heated buses with Starlink will be launched in Ivano-Frankivsk. Everyone will be able to recharge gadgets and drink tea if there is no electricity in the city for over a day.

Lviv oblast

In the RMA a meeting with Henrik Willadsen, the coordinator of OSCE projects in Ukraine,  was held to discuss helping the oblast during the war.

Lviv oblast received 3K reflective elements to be distributed among kindergartens and schools. They were brought by Maksym Syarkiewicz, authorized adviser to the Minister-Spokesperson for Children’s Rights of the Republic of Poland (Rzecznik Praw Dziecka).

The Lviv Regional Perinatal Center received humanitarian aid donated within the Humanitarian Solidarity program. The program was implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation in partnership and with the financial support of CARE Deutschland e.V.

Krakow Botanical Garden collects funds for the botanical garden in Lviv to buy electric generators.

Rivne oblast

In Rivne oblast, 226 entrepreneurs received funds under the eRobota: Own Business program. According to the results of the 10th wave of the program implementation Rivne oblast is leading in terms of the number of projects that will receive funding.

Ternopil oblast

Employees of the Department of Education and Science of Ternopil oblast collected and sent gifts for St. Nicholas Day to the children of Kherson oblast. About 5 tonnes of aid, namely, stationery, sweets and home baked goods were collected. The cargo will go to Kherson and stop in Chornobaivka, where part of the gifts will be given to local children.

The mobile application e-Ternopil was presented for residents of the Ternopil community. An online traffic map is available in the application. It is possible to make an appointment with the state registration office and receive notifications about the start and the end of the air alarm signal. Also available are maps with routes to heating points, trade facilities operating without light, maps of drinking water fountains and those of shelters.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Taxpayers of Khmelnytskyi oblast transferred over UAH 670 million in military levies to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Mavis 3 Fly Combo was sent from Khmelnytskyi for combat special forces. Since the war began, over 140 drones and quadcopters have been sent from Khmelnytskyi.

Policemen of Khmelnytskyi joined the campaign to donate blood for wounded soldiers. This time, 24 liters of blood were given to the soldiers of the special purpose police company, some of whom were wounded and undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

In Khmelnytskyi, a mobile exhibition called Together We are Europe opened. It has already visited several cities of Ukraine. The exposition takes place within the framework of the EU campaign aimed to inform Ukrainians about the EU’s support, solidarity and aid. The works of art were created by Ukrainian illustrators.

Chernivtsi oblast

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine Ilgvars Klyava came to Chernivtsi for the first time. He was accompanied by Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia in Chernivtsi, Ilya Khoch. During the meeting in the city council, they discussed supporting Ukrainians in the fight against the aggressor.

Four beads of colouring pages, puzzles and toys, as well as almost UAH 170K were collected for children from the liberated territories by students of Chernivtsi kindergartens during charity performances.

 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Germany adopted a new package of military aid to Ukraine. It includes 7 Gepard anti-aircraft guns. In addition, the German government noted that 3 BEAVER bridge-laying tanks, 10 unmanned surface ships, 65 border guard units, 14K sleeping bags, Mi-24 spare parts and 30 ambulances have been provided to Ukraine this week.

Sweden allocates a winter package of aid for Ukraine in the amount of $338 million, including air defense systems.

Josep Borrell reported that the EU will consider the proposal to direct the blocked funds of russian oligarchs to reconstruct Ukraine and allocate €1 million to Kyiv for demining.

The Czech Republic finally approved the arrangement of training of the Ukrainian military on its territory. Up to 4K Ukrainian servicemen are expected to be trained in the Czech Republic in 2023. The Czech Republic will also send up to 55 military personnel to participate in the EU mission to train the Ukrainian military.

The Ministry of Defense of Lithuania reported that the country will allocate over EUR 2 million to purchase winter clothing for 25K Ukrainian soldiers.  

The Lithuanian manufacturer Audimas Supply will give the Ukrainian army 1K fleece sweaters for free.

The Italian Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decree on continuation of the supply of weapons to Ukraine for 2023. The Italian government can send military equipment and weapons to Ukraine in 2023 without asking permission from the Parliament.

On December 13, a conference will be held in Paris to help Ukraine counter terrorist strikes by the russian federation and combat their consequences .

Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron condemned putin’s war and promised support for Ukraine. The presidents published a joint statement in which they emphasized that they do not recognize russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territories and condemn any escalation. They also promised to provide significant resources to support the resilience of the Ukrainian civilian population during the winter period.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with Head of the African Union, President of Senegal Macky Sall. They discussed further implementation of the Grain from Ukraine initiative and possible participation of African countries in the Peace Formula.

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Stefanishyna, stated that all 30 NATO member countries agree with Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance.

Ambassador of France to Ukraine, Etienne de Ponsin, stated that Emmanuel Macron is personally working on the Energy Rammstein for Ukraine, which will soon take place in Paris.

The State Migration Service of Ukraine is expanding the network of the Dokument State Enterprise in Poland. Now anyone can easily issue passport documents in another Polish city of Wroclaw.

The US Congress has registered a project called On Bringing russian Mercenaries to Justice aimed to recognize the russian private military company Wagner as a terrorist organization.

The Hague discussed the creation of the Prosecutor’s Office, which will be responsible for investigating crimes in the russian federation.

At the OSCE meeting, Moldova called for the withdrawal of russian troops from Transnistria.

The russian ambassador to Lithuania was handed a note declaring him persona non grata for activities incompatible with his diplomatic status. The official must leave the country within five days. 

Italy takes the country’s key oil refinery owned by the russian Lukoil under state management. The Italian government’s decision is reportedly aimed at “protecting national interests in strategic industries.”

The famous British TV presenter Bear Grylls came to Kyiv. He is a British traveler, TV presenter and writer, best known for the TV program Survive At Any Cost.

Children’s choir Ukrainian Shchedryk arrived in New York and gave a concert at Central Station. This is a symbolic event, because it was here 100 years ago that the North American premiere of Shchedryk by the Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych took place.

Limited Sunshine & Sons Pineapple Parfait Gin was released in Australia to honor the liberation of Kherson. The money from the sale will be used to purchase metal detectors, which will then be sent to Ukraine for demining the reclaimed territories. The design of the label was created by Konstantin Des from Odesa.
