It has been the 410th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression.

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The enemy launched 10 multiple rocket launcher attacks, 23 air and 4 missile strikes. Two russian missiles launched from the S-300 air defense system hit civilian infrastructure targets in Zaporizhzhia, causing casualties among civilians and damaging residential buildings. Additionally, russian occupiers fired two missiles from the S-300 air defense system at civilian infrastructure in Kostiantynivka in Donetsk Oblast.

Ukraine is still under the threat of missile and air attacks.

The enemy continues to concentrate its main efforts on conducting offensive operations towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Mariinka. Thanks to the courage of every soldier, over 40 enemy attacks were repelled.

The operational situation did not change towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk, and Sloboda and there are no signs of enemy offensive groups forming.

The occupiers shelled the settlements of Yasna Poliana, Chernihiv oblast; Volfyne, Zapsillia, and Popivka, Sumy oblast, as well as Veterynarne, Kozacha Lopan, Mala Danylivka, Hatyshche, Ustynivka, Milove, Velykyi Burluk, and Topoli in Kharkiv Oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, the enemy shelled Krasne Pershe, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, and Zapadne in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Lyman, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive operations in the area south of Dibrova. Artillery shelling was carried out in Novoselivske, Makiivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast, as well as in Kolodiazi, Torske, Siversk, Spirne, and Berestove, Donetsk oblast.

Towards Bakhmut, the enemy continues to conduct offensive operations, attempting to take full control of the city of Bakhmut. Fierce fighting is raging. The enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the area east of the settlement of Bohdanivka and near Khromove. The defense forces repelled about 20 enemy attacks in the mentioned sector of the front.

The enemy conducted offensive actions in the areas of Novokalynove, Berdychiv, Avdiivka, Severne, and Mariinka, Donetsk region, but without success. The most intense fighting is currently taking place in Avdiivka and Mariinka, where over 10 enemy attacks were repulsed. Meanwhile, several settlements in Donetsk region, including Novokalynove, Avdiivka, Lastochkyne, Pervomaiske, Krasnohorivka, Hostre, Heorgiivka, and Mariinka, were shelled by the enemy.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy did not conduct any offensive operations during the day, but shelled several settlements in Donetsk region, including Novomykhailivka, Bohoiavlennia, Shakhtarske, Novoukrainka, Velyka Novosilka, Prechystivka, and Zolota Niva.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the enemy continues to strengthen their defensive positions and fortifications. The enemy shelled settlements in Vremivka, Novopil, Donetsk oblast; Zatyshshia, Huliaypole, Zaliznychne, Huliaypilske, and Bilohiria, Zaporizhzhia oblast; Vesele, Burhunka, Ivanivka, Antonivka, and Dniprovsk in the Kherson region, as well as the city of Kherson.

There are still cases of violent abduction of civilians by russian invaders on the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Russian occupation forces are carrying out searches of citizens’ places of residence in Starobilsk, Luhansk oblast, suspecting them of supporting Ukraine and taking people away in an unknown direction without returning them.

Furthermore, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted six airstrikes on the enemy’s concentration areas, while rocket forces and artillery units struck four air defense missile systems, 11 enemy live-force, weapons, and military equipment concentrations, an ammunition depot, and five enemy radio-electronic warfare stations.


Ukraine has signed an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and must prepare a strategy (a “structural beacon”) for implementing reforms and receiving financial assistance from the IMF. After consultations with the IMF staff, it will help move to a flexible exchange rate, and also harmonize the tax legislation with the norms of the European Union.

More than 15 positions of the occupiers were destroyed in 2 weeks. Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov reported this. 7 of them were located in Melitopol, the others were in Fedorivka, Vesely, near Tokmak, Verkhnyi Tokmak, Myrny, Molochansk.

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russians shelled at least 12 settlements. Specifically, Kozacha Lopan, Velykyi Burluk and Dvorichna were targeted.

Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv RMA, informed that Karaichne village, Chuhuiv region, was under artillery fire. A civilian of about 30 years old was seriously injured. He was hospitalized in a serious condition. Doctors are fighting for his life.

Kupiansk also was shelled. The invaders targeted residential buildings and private areas with multiple rocket launchers.

State Emergency Service of Kharkiv oblast reported that a resident of Snizhkivka village, Izium region, stepped on a mini Butterfly mine in his garden. The man was hospitalized with shrapnel wounds of varying severity.

Yesterday morning, the enemy launched a missile attack (preliminary, an X-59 missile)  near the Lozove water reservoir in Kharkiv district. The buildings of a restaurant complex and a building in Mala Danylivka were partially damaged.

The invaders launched a missile attack on Velykyi Burluk, Kupiansk region. An S-300 missile hit the ground in an open area. Three residential buildings and three outbuildings were partially damaged.

Mine clearance is ongoing. Yesterday, pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service examined more than 6 hectares of territory and defused 117 explosive ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

Russian troops shelled Druzhkivka with Smerch multiple rocket launchers. As a result, two people were injured and 8 buildings in the private sector damaged.

Russian army is trying to surround Avdiivka, capture Marinka and advance towards Kurakhove. According to Oleksii Dmytrashkivskyi, spokesman of the joint press center of the Tavriisk Defence Forces, Russians had no success in any of the areas.

Ukrainian assault units are effectively using Australian Bushmaster armoured personnel carriers towards Bakhmut. These vehicles have proven themselves well: they are used to move infantry and evacuate people.

Towards Donetsk, 2 apartment buildings in Krasnohorivka of Mariinka community and 4 private buildings in Hostre of Kurakhove community were damaged, there were no casualties.

Towards Horlivka, 2 people were injured in Bakhmut and Toretsk. A building in Mykolaivka in Kostiantynivka community was damaged. There were isolated attacks in Minkivka, Vasiukivka and Rozdolivka of Soledar community.

Towards Lysychansk, 10 buildings in Zvanivka were damaged and Pereizne was under attack.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, reported that Russians injured two civilians in Toretsk and Bakhmut.

In the temporarily occupied Mariupol, Russians painted over the mural “All People, All Equal” created for Human Rights Day in 2021.

Luhansk oblast

Novoselivske, Makiivka, Nevske, Kuzmyne, Dibrova and Bilohorivka were under enemy attack again yesterday. The enemy also  conducted unsuccessful offensives south of Kreminna and in Serebrianka forestry.

Towards Lyman-Kupiansk, there were 202 artillery attacks on the positions of the Defence Forces and 7 combat engagements with the invaders yesterday. 50 russian soldiers were eliminated and 86 others injured. Russian troops were also actively using artillery and aviation.

Oleksii Smyrnov, acting head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration said that the enemy spares no ammunition. Russians are hitting settlements along the front line, where civilians remain, and the positions of our defenders. They also attack from the air. Only yesterday they launched three air raids.

Oleksii Smyrnov added that in their offensive actions, russians are supporting the infantry with armoured vehicles. Recently, one of these attacks resulted in the loss of an armoured personnel carrier.

Moreover, yesterday our defenders shot down four unmanned aerial vehicles and burned down an enemy ammunition depot towards Lyman and Kupiansk.

According to the RMA, the invaders have caused more than 475 billion hryvnias of damage to the environment and ecology of Luhansk oblast through burned forests, emissions of harmful substances and land contaminated with debris. The administration added that the fires caused damage to Kreminna Forests National Nature Park, Kreminna Catchment Hydrological Reserve, part of the Luhansk Nature Reserve and Triokhizbenka Steppe. The enemy use of phosphorus munitions and heavy flamethrower systems prohibited by the Geneva Convention also damaged infrastructure and industrial facilities. The land is littered with debris; fires and pollutant emissions into the atmosphere have occurred.

Referring to the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Russians have lost a field ammunition depot. In Lysychansk the invaders are populating the entire district with guest performers, in Starobilsk men are receiving calls.

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

The tractor blew up on an enemy anti-tank mine in the Brovary region. As the head of the police of the Kyiv oblast Andrii Nebytov reported, the incident took place on April 8 during road works on the section between the villages of Rusaniv and Svitylnia. The 34-year-old driver was injured and hospitalized. 13 more mines were found on the territory near the detonation site – law enforcement officers and explosives technicians are working at the scene.

The Department of Municipal Security of the KCSA reported that 25 shelters in Kyiv were checked, where the public monitoring group “OZON” found violations. At these addresses, residents of Kyiv were provided with access to shelters during an air raid, rooms were equipped, and “Place for shelter” tables were placed indicating the persons responsible for keeping the keys and their phone numbers.

Since the beginning of 2023, 64 centers for the provision of administrative services(TsNAP) have been operating in Kyiv oblast, where 546 types of services are available to residents. In total, in 2022, TsNAPs of the oblast processed more than 963,000 appeals. According to the Department of Economy of the Kyiv Regional Government, the list of services in administrative institutions is constantly expanding, taking into account the demand of citizens.

A new Safety Class opened in one of the schools of Vyshneve in Bucha region. It was arranged in a room that will be used as a shelter. As reported in the regional military administration, the class was equipped not only with visual materials, but also with real combat clothing of rescuers and equipment, samples of explosive objects, interactive curiosities and products from the UNICEF Ukraine company.

One of the episodes of the House radio program, which is broadcast on the Canadian public broadcaster SVS, won the Gracie award for the story about wartime Kyiv. The episode aired in March 2022, just weeks after the start of a full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine. It tells about the life of 72-year-old Lyudmila, who survives in the capital of Ukraine during the war.

Zhytomyr oblast

A new temporary crossing will be built in Malyn, which will allow the normal movement of transport and emergency services through the city. 4 million hryvnias have been allocated for its creation from the regional budget. We will remind you that in March 2022, Zhytomyr oblast was subjected to numerous air and missile russians attacks, during one of them enemy missiles destroyed the road bridge over the Irsha River, which to this day significantly complicates communication between the two parts of Malyn.

A new season of the Seed Library national project is starting in Zhytomyr, during which everyone can share or exchange their own stocks of collected seeds in the garden, summer cottage or flower bed near the house. For this purpose, sites with seeds of flowers, vegetables and greenery are arranged in the libraries. The idea of creating seed libraries was adopted from foreign colleagues from the USA and Norway. This is a joint initiative of the BF Library Country and the Seed Treasury of Ukraine NGO, which is supported by dozens of library institutions in different regions.

Sumy oblast

The Sumy RMA reported that the russians carried out 7 attacks of Bilopillia, Khotyn, Velika Pysarivka and Myropillia communities. A total of 79 strikes were recorded – the enemy shelled the border areas with mortars, AGS, and also dropped VOG ammunition from the UAVs. In the morning, 3 artillery attacks of the Seredina-Buda community were carried out from the territory of the russian federation – 5 hits were recorded.

Free bus routes have been opened in Hlukhiv region, which will help solve the problem of connecting settlements with the city. Now residents of small villages of the Esman community will have the opportunity to visit medical and state institutions located in Hlukhiv, get certificates and necessary documents, buy food and medicine. The financing of the costs for the implementation of this social project is carried out by the Proliska humanitarian mission as part of the UN UHF Road to security and services: transport and support of collective centers project.

The other day, the UNICEF Children’s Fund handed over sets of children’s clothing (1,200 sets for children of various age categories) and 4,500 children’s blankets to Sumy oblast. The aid will be directed to Centers for social and psychological rehabilitation and children under care who are in foster families and family-type children’s homes in border communities.

11-year-old volunteer Oleksandra Reznichenko from Sumy makes her own “magic wands” based on the Harry Potter universe and donates 80% of their sales to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to the young volunteer’s mother, Oleksandra has special spreadsheets where she enters financial statements about her sales – in a month she transferred about 4 thousand hryvnias for the needs of the Armed Forces.

Chernihiv oblast

The Operational Command North reported that the occupiers targeted the border area of Chernihiv oblast with an air missile. A missile launched by a russian aircraft from the territory of the russian federation struck near the village of Gremyach.

The Operational Command North reported that the defense forces of the Ukraine destroyed an enemy UAV. Anti-aircraft fighters shot down a russian drone over Sumy oblast, previously of the Zala 421-16e type.

The Novhorod-Siverskyi and Semenivka communities were under enemy shelling. The russian occupying forces inflicted fire damage with the use of mortars – a total of 21 explosions were recorded. In addition, the enemy dropped explosive charges from UAVs on the territory of Semenivka community – 4 explosions were recorded.

The consequences caused by the impact of two guided aerial bombs launched on April 7 from a russian Su-35 fighter jet on the territory of the Semenivka community are being eliminated. According to the mayor Serhiy Dedenko, the restoration of communications is underway, priority work has been carried out to eliminate the hole from an aerial bomb, the roofs of residential buildings have been covered, and the windows have been temporarily blocked. Repair sets, slates and beams from the material reserve of the city council for the repair of houses have been allocated for repair.

More than 150 testimonies of eyewitnesses from Chernihiv oblast who saw the occupiers and experienced the conditions of the russian blockade were collected and recorded. Scientific expeditions with visits to de-occupied villages and recording of testimonies in neighborhoods of deblocked Chernihiv, initiated last year by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Chernihiv City Council, are ongoing. Today, the Institute of National Remembrance and the vast majority of scientific institutions collect these materials so that it becomes a source base for further scientific research.

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

An unofficial flag appeared among Kryvyi Rih defenders from the 7th separate battalion of AREY UDA. It was created by the famous artist Nikita Titov. After the soldiers put their signatures on the flag, it will be auctioned. The collected funds will be used to support the unit.

Vinnytsia oblast

​​ Over fifty books were handed over by the police to medical institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Vinnytsia, where defenders are being treated. In order to diversify their leisure time and promote faster recovery, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine launched the “Books for Heroes” project.

Kirovohrad oblast

In Kropyvnytskyi, Oleksandr Knyha, the head of the Kherson Theater named after Mykola Kulish, said that the theater signed a memorandum of cooperation with the local theater named after Marko Kropyvnytskyi. In the conditions of war, theater groups need mutual support.

Poltava oblast

Volunteer Ivan Yakushev created 38 coats of arms of Ukraine with spent shell casings. He puts the items up for auction, and with the money he earns, he buys medicine for the military. Shells are brought to Poltava by colleagues or soldiers from the front line. He himself transported some of the used ones from the war zone.

Cherkasy oblast

Thanks to the cooperation of the Cherkasy City Council and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Office in Ukraine, the  “Development Space” adaptation center was opened. It has become a social space for many families of internally displaced persons and city residents.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Yesterday, the enemy shelled 17 populated areas in Zaporizhzhia oblast, carrying out one missile attack, four aviation attacks, five UAV attacks, and 46 artillery attacks. Three people were killed, and five others were injured as a result of enemy attacks. Dozens of objects, including apartments, buildings, and utility structures, were destroyed or damaged during the day.

The intensity of the shelling is increasing, and aviation bombs are actively used. Orikhiv and Huliaipole suffer the most from such strikes every day. The enemy carried out 64 attacks during the day using various types of weapons.

At around 2:00 a.m., the enemy attacked Zaporizhzhia, probably with two missiles from an S-300 missile system, targeting a private residential building.

On April 9, a two-story school building was destroyed as a result of an air strike according to preliminary data on one of the communities in the Polohy region. Three private homes were damaged by the shockwave.

Mykolaiv oblast

Chornomorsk, and Kutsurub territorial communities. The relevant order was signed by the military commandant of the defense of the city of Ochakiv. The regime of light masking continues to operate in the specified areas.

Danish urbanist Mikael Colville-Andersen is working on developing a concept for bicycle infrastructure in Mykolaiv. Mikael plans to communicate with the Danish government regarding support for the implementation of a pilot project. Mikael Colville-Andersen is a cycling activist, blogger, and author of a YouTube channel about life in small towns. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he has visited Mykolaiv three times. The man helped volunteers within the “Bikes4Ukraine” initiative, delivering bicycles to Ukrainians from European countries.

Odesa oblast

The naval group in the Black Sea consists of 11 combat ships. The enemy has doubled the number of missile carriers. Currently, two submarines with 8 Kalibrs are ready for deployment.

​​The Shyriaive Central Regional Hospital has received an ambulance and a power generator. The 160 kW, 3-phase generator will provide alternative power supply to the facility. The charitable foundation that provided it will service the generator for a year.

Kherson oblast

Yesterday evening, the enemy attacked Beryslav region with six Su-35 fighter jets using guided aviation bombs and anti-radar missiles X-31. Five warehouse buildings, a conveyor gallery for transporting grain at a local elevator were destroyed, and several houses were damaged as a result of the enemy attack in Beryslav. An administrative building and about five houses of local residents were damaged in the village of Lvove due to the enemy attack. The occupiers also launched air strikes on the villages of Olhyne and Tomaryne in the Beryslav community.

Yesterday russian occupiers shelled peaceful settlements in Kherson oblast 71 times, firing 495 shells from MLRS, mortars, artillery, tanks, AGS, drones, and aviation. The russian army attacked the residential areas of Kherson city six times, targeting power lines and the territory of the enterprise.

Russian occupiers continue to strengthen counterintelligence and police control in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson oblast. Specifically, raid events are being held in the Hornostaivka region to check personal phones of the local population for the presence of photo and video materials, as well as “prohibited” content. The occupiers record personal data of local residents and selectively search their homes during such inspections.

According to the South Operational Command, missile and artillery units destroyed an enemy observation post on the left bank and a field point of supply on the islands. The confirmed losses of the enemy amount to 12 soldiers, 7 units of weapons and equipment, including 2 self-propelled artillery installations, 2 radio-electronic warfare stations, the Supercam reconnaissance UAV, and 2 cars.

Sappers surveyed 24,939 hectares of land in the liberated areas of Kherson oblast, including 21,480 hectares of agricultural land. 54,019 explosive objects were found and neutralized on these territories.

25 temporary housing units were installed in the village of Posad-Pokrovske, which was ruined by the russian army. Materials for modular houses were delivered to the village in March. The houses are being installed on the territory of private households for people who have lost their homes.

Volyn oblast

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

In Ivano-Frankivsk, the Church of the Nativity of Christ of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which until yesterday belonged to the moscow patriarchate, not only transferred to the OCU, but also became a parish-garrison church for Ukrainian military personnel. On Palm Sunday, representatives of the government prayed together with the military in the church.

The Kalusa City Council reported that during charity concerts in churches, children’s and adult teams collected approximately UAH 70K to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Lviv oblast

The Sambir Central District Hospital received medicines from the Malta Assistance Service.

Ukrainian defenders in Bakhmut received 2 ambulances thanks to the German organization Veritas Ambulanz and “International Association for the Support of Ukraine” CF.

Over 1,5K people in educational institutions of Lviv oblast received training on psychoeducation and communication in war conditions within the working group of Medical and Psychological Assistance.

A soldier from the village of Sokilnyky was awarded (posthumously) with the 3th Order “For Courage”. Yurii Onysyk served in the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo and was killed on April 27, 2022 while performing a combat mission near Popasna.

A plaque commemorating its graduate was installed on the facade of the children’s art school in the village of Lysiatych. Orest Baryliuk, Defender of Ukraine, was killed on April 5, 2022 in Kherson oblast.

In Lviv oblast, a Ukrainian record was set for decorating Easter cakes. In 25 minutes, the participants of the event decorated 1K Easter cakes and laid them out in the form of the national coat of arms.

Rivne oblast

Residents of the Zarichnensk community sent 80 storage meters of dry chopped firewood for the affected civilian population of Kherson oblast thanks to the Christian Faith Evangelical Church and sponsors from the US and Norway.

Ternopil oblast

In Ternopil, half a ton of russian-language books were handed over for waste paper. This is russian-language, outdated and irrelevant literature. The promotion started on February 14 and is permanent.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Citizens gathered in the central square of Netish and unanimously voted for the transfer of two churches from the UOC (moscow patriarchate) to the OCU, namely, the Cathedral of the Icon of the Mother of God and the church of Saint Paraskeva of Serbia. A total of 2 436 people registered for the meeting.

Chernivtsi oblast

The Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Chernivtsi oblast reported that another Security Class was created in Bukovyna. By the end of 2023, another 144 such classes are planned to be opened in Chernivtsi oblast. 

International support of Ukraine in the russian-Ukrainian war (russia’s invasion of Ukraine)

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Poland allocates new military aid to Ukraine, which includes over a hundred BMPs, 200 Rosomak armored personnel carriers (100 now and 100 later), self-propelled mortars, additional missiles and MiGs.

Poland will train Ukrainian medics in comprehensive assistance to patients with burns and emergency air evacuation of the wounded, in particular in war zones.

Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice, stated that EU continues to discuss with G7 countries the possibility of creating a special tribunal to prosecute russia for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.

The US Department of Justice has opened an investigation into the leak of a huge number of US intelligence documents that were published on social networks in recent weeks.

The joint statement of the two states following the visit of Emmanuel Macron, French President, to the People’s Republic of China, published by the Chinese Embassy in Ukraine, stated that China and France support the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and condemn armed attacks on nuclear power plants and other peaceful nuclear facilities.

The Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure reported Ukraine and Poland signed a memorandum that will help attract Polish business to Ukraine’s reconstruction projects.

In France, the court declared the russian propaganda channel rt France bankrupt.

For Ukrainians, free travel on the Przemysl-Hanover train was extended until the end of May 2023.

ORYX, a Dutch defense analytics and military operations research site that collects information from open sources, reported that russians have lost 10K pieces of equipment in the war in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. It is known that out of these 10K, the Armed Forces of Ukraine “trophies” 2 834 units.

During his Easter message on Sunday, Pope Francis mentioned Ukrainians. “Help all the Ukrainian people on the road to peace and shine Easter light on the russian people. Comfort the wounded and those who lost their loved ones due to the war, and make sure that the captives can return to their families safe and sound. Open the hearts of the entire international community so that it makes efforts to put an end to this war and all the conflicts that cover the world with blood,” said the pontiff, addressing his words to God.
