It has been the 415th day of the Ukrainian resistance to the russian military aggression. 

What happened in Ukraine today:

Here is operational information of the General Staff as of 6 pm:   

The russian federation continues to ignore international humanitarian law, conducting strikes and shelling not only at the positions of our troops, but also at the civilian infrastructure of settlements. 

The enemy launched 6 air and 19 missile strikes, 13 of them from S-300 air defense systems on the peaceful cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. In addition, the enemy fired about 20 times from multiple launch rocket systems.

There is still a high threat of missile and air strikes across Ukraine, as the enemy continues to use terror tactics against civilians. 

The enemy is not abandoning its plans to occupy our territory, despite significant losses. It continues to focus its main efforts on conducting offensive operations towards Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka. The fiercest fighting continues for Bakhmut and Marinka. About 40 enemy attacks were repelled during the day. 

Towards Volyn, Polissia, Siversk and Sloboda, no signs of enemy offensive groups were detected. Combat readiness of the armed forces of the Republic of belarus is inspected. 

russian occupiers fired on the settlements of Halahanivka, Chernihiv oblast, Studenok, Rivne, Iskryskivka, Volfyno in Sumy oblast, as well as Kozacha Lopan, Tokarivka, Mali Prokhody, Strilecha, Lukiantsi, Neskuchne, Starytsia, Vovchansk, Nesterne and Zemlianky in Kharkiv oblast.

Towards Kupiansk, Stroivka, Dvorichanske, Krasne Pershne, Novomlynsk, Dvorichna, Zakhidne, Lyman Pershyi, Kindrashivka, Masiutivka, Tabaivka and Berestove in Kharkiv oblast were subjected to enemy attacks.

Towards Lyman, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area south of Dibrova and near Bilohorivka. Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, Nevske, Bilohorivka in Luhansk oblast and Torske, Dibrova, Spirne in Donetsk oblast came under artillery fire.

Towards Bakhmut, The enemy continues to conduct offensive actions. Heavy fighting continues for the town of Bakhmut. Defense forces repelled about 15 enemy attacks here. Vasiukivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Novomarkove, Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Bakhmut, Ivanivske, Chasiv Yar, Stupochki, Diliivka, Toretsk and Niu York in Donetsk oblast were affected by hostile shelling.

Towards Avdiivka, the enemy conducted offensives in the areas of Novokalynove and Pervomayske, but did not succeed, shelling also Avdiivka, and Karlivka in (Donetsk oblast).

Towards Marinka, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives in the area of Marinka, Donetsk oblast, where Ukrainian defense forces repelled about 15 attacks. At the same time, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk oblast came under enemy fire.

Towards Shakhtarsk, the enemy did not conduct any offensive actions over the last day. Bohoiavlenka, Shakhtarske, Novoukrainka, Velyka Novosilka, Neskuchne, Zolota Nyva, and Vuhledar (Donetsk oblast) were shelled.

Towards Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, the enemy continues to conduct defensive actions. During the day, the occupiers fired at settlements near the contact line. Among them are Vremivka and Novopil (Donetsk oblast), Olhivske, Malynivka, Chervone, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Orikhiv (Zaporizhzhia oblast), Zolota Balka, Novoberyslav, Kozatske, Ivanivka, Mykilske, Dniprovske (Kherson oblast) and the city of Kherson.

The enemy continues to use medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine for its own purposes. For example, after surgeries in the surgical unit of Horlivka City Hospital No. 2, wounded russian soldiers are transferred to the polyclinic of the Horlivka Machine-Building Plant. Currently, about 185 russian doctors work in these civilian medical facilities. They provide their services exclusively to russian military personnel. 

Aviation of the Defense Forces conducted 5 strikes on buildups of occupiers’ manpower and equipment.

Rocket and artillery units struck 1 control center, 3 buildups of enemy manpower, weapons and military equipment, and 1 enemy electronic warfare station.


The Ministry of Reintegration reports that the bodies of 82 fallen soldiers were returned. They were transferred from the temporarily occupied territories in accordance with the Geneva Convention. This was done with the assistance of the Office of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under the Ministry of Reintegration in cooperation with law enforcement agencies.

Yurii Ihnat, Spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, says that since September 11, 2022 (the start of attacks on critical infrastructure), russia has fired more than 850 cruise missiles of various types at Ukraine. 

Recent war events in the east of Ukraine

Kharkiv oblast

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that 21 settlements in Kharkiv oblast came under russian shelling. 

According to Oleh Syniehubov, Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, the russian army shelled a medical facility in Vovchansk. A 62-year-old employee of the institution was wounded and hospitalized. 

In Cherneshchyna village, Izium region, a 44-year-old electrician who was restoring power supply was injured in a blast. In addition, a 29-year-old woman was wounded in Izium when a mine exploded in her own yard. The injured are currently receiving medical treatment.

On April 13, the enemy fired at the border and frontline settlements of Kharkiv, Chuhuiv and Kupiansk regions. In particular, Udy, Kozacha Lopan, Starytsia, Dvorichna, Tabaivka and other settlements were under fire.

A civilian enterprise was damaged and a fire broke out as a result of shelling from Grad MLRSs in Kucherivka village of Kupiansk region. Three men were wounded – 50, 51 and 23 years old. All of them were hospitalized in moderate condition.

A 47-year-old volunteer who was helping to evacuate residents was wounded as a result of shelling in Dvorichna village, Kupiansk region. He was hospitalized in severe condition. Doctors are now fighting for his life.

The danger of mines remains high in the oblast. Yesterday, a tractor driver was blown up on an unknown explosive object near the village of Lukiantsi, Kharkiv region. The 28-year-old man was injured and hospitalized.

During the day, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service defused 132 ordnance.

Donetsk oblast

At around 4pm, russian forces launched a missile attack on Sloviansk. According to preliminary data, S-300 missiles were fired, at least 7 missiles. The strike damaged 5 multi-storey buildings, 5 private houses, a school, a recreation centre, an administrative building, a shop, a shopping centre and 12 cars. Explosive experts, paramedics, rescuers and police are working at the scene. As of 22:00, there are 8 killed and 21 injured. Among the killed is a two-year-old child who, unfortunately, could not be saved after being pulled from the rubble. Another 5 people are likely to be under the rubble of the destroyed building.

Oleksii Roslov, Head of Kostiantynivka RMA, says that the russian military shelled Kostiantynivka. No one was injured or killed. Two non-residential buildings were damaged .

Oleksandr Honcharenko, Head of Kramatorsk RMA, informs that the shelling of Kramatorsk damaged an educational institution, a garage cooperative and several apartment buildings. There were no casualties. 

Border guards in Bakhmut, Donetsk region, neutralized 11 russian soldiers: 5 killed and 6 wounded in a firefight. Wagner fighters approached the border guards’ position through the ruins of buildings, but were destroyed.

There were no reports of casualties on April 13.

Towards Volnovakha, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka and Bohoyavlenka came under fire.

Towards  Donetsk, there was one artillery attack on Kurakhove yesterday. In the morning, the enemy fired on Avdiivka, hitting the residential sector.

Towards Horlivka, two kindergartens in Bakhmut were destroyed and a school in Chasiv Yar community was damaged. The outskirts of Toretsk community were shelled. In the evening, russians shelled Novodmytrivka in Kostiantynivka community, damaging a grain hangar.

Towards Lysychansk, Torske and Zarichne of Lyman community were shelled and houses on two streets in Siversk damaged.

Serhii Cherevatyi, Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, informs that towards Lyman and Kupiansk, the russian army fired 413 times from various artillery systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and launched 7 air strikes. 35 russian soldiers were killed and 68 wounded. Three T-72 tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles and a Vasylok mortar were destroyed.

The russian military fired 260 times at the city of Bakhmut and its surroundings with cannon and rocket artillery. In total, there were 26 battles and two air raids. 84 russian servicemen were killed and 92 wounded.

Luhansk oblast

Serhii Cherevaty, Spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, informs that two firefights took place towards Lyman over the April 13 – near Dibrova and Bilohorivka. As a result, 35 occupiers were killed and 68 wounded. Three enemy T-72 tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles and a Vasylok mortar were destroyed. The enemy fired 413 times at the positions of our troops from various artillery systems and launched 7 air strikes.

Over the past day, de-occupied Nevske in Svatove region was shelled again by russian troops. As a result, 8 private houses were damaged to varying degrees. There are no casualties. Also, Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, Andriivka and Bilohorivka came under artillery fire over the past day.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that in the occupied Donetsk region, russian passports are being issued in an accelerated mode, and migration service departments are working seven days a week. 

Luhansk Regional Military Administration noted that to help the passport office staff, 300 specialists from russia were brought to Luhansk oblast.

Luhansk Regional Military Administration says that the number of patrols has increased. During house-to-house visits, people’s cell phones are confiscated. A ban on leaving settlements has been imposed. 

What is happening now in the north of Ukraine

Kyiv oblast

After the de-occupation of Kyiv oblast, sappers seized more than 2 K russian munitions and destroyed more than 800. In particular, on April 13, 110 grenade launcher munitions and 2 anti-tank mines were destroyed at the training ground in Boryspil region. As reported by the police of Kyiv oblast, explosive objects continue to be found in Brovary, Bucha and Vyshhorod regions of the oblast.

The Department of Economy of Kyiv Regional Government reported that 1,800 unemployed people in Kyiv oblast were involved in performing socially useful works as part of the “Recovery Army” project. The types of work depend on the needs of the region, in Kyiv oblast it is most often arrangement of landfills, repair and restoration work, weaving of nets, cleaning of territories.

Energy-efficient projects will be financed in Kyiv – 62 winners have been determined. As reported in the KCSA, the total cost of the works is more than UAH 110 million. The main works will include insulation of facades, major repairs of internal systems, replacement of windows and doors with energy-saving ones. In addition, work is being carried out at the 81st facility, which was suspended due to martial law at the beginning of last year.

A year ago, the 241st Brigade of Territorial Defense of Kyiv was formed. The brigade included eight battalions of territorial defense of Kyiv, which went through the fiercest battles with the enemy during the year. The other day, Mayor of Kyiv Vitalii Klytschko awarded the fighters of the 242nd Battalion of the 241st Separate Brigade, who are on rotation in the capital, with  medals “Honor. Glory. State”.

In Kyiv, they bid farewell to Vladyslav Dzikovskyi, the system administrator of the Detector Media NGO, who was killed in December 2022 in Luhansk oblast, defending Ukraine from russian invaders. According to his wife, since the beginning of the full-scale war, Vladyslav went to the military commissariat three times, although he did not have any combat experience at that time.

Oleksii Korol, Director of Kyivzelenbud, announced that construction of two large rehabilitation parks is planned to begin in the capital. According to him, the parks will contribute to the emotional and psychological recovery of people. Also this year, work should be completed in the Rylsky Park, where the entire play area was renovated and houses for bats created.

Zhytomyr oblast

The Zhytomyr RMA reported that a hotline for displaced persons operates 24/7 in the oblast. It has been operating since the beginning of a full-scale invasion and has provided assistance in evacuation, accommodation, humanitarian and other necessary support.

Currently, more than 66 K Ukrainians from different parts of the country live in Zhytomyr oblast, in particular from Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk and Kherson regions. Most of the displaced people live in Zhytomyr and Berdychiv communities.

Over 746 K old incandescent light bulbs were exchanged for LED lamps by residents of Zhytomyr oblast at Ukrposhta branches. From May 1, it will be possible to exchange incandescent lamps for LEDs only in regional centers of Ukraine. Currently, anyone who wants to can come to a Ukrposhta branch and exchange five incandescent lamps for LED ones.

Zhytomyr Herbachevskyi Regional Hospital has been replenished with new equipment for the multispiral computed tomography room. More than 1 million euros was allocated by the European Union representative office to buy a modern computer tomograph.

Sumy oblast

Sumy RMA reported that on April 13, the russians attacked the Esman and Bilopillia communities of Sumy oblast. There were 6 artillery hits in Esman community. The enemy fired mortars and AGS at Bilopillia community – 6 and 10 hits, respectively.

The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that the russian military shelled Bilopillia region three times – 18 mortar hits. Another mine was dropped on the territory of Seredyno-Buda community.

A specialized car for people with disabilities arrived in Trostianets. The local Center for the Provision of Social Services received a medical Citroen minivan based car. Assistance was provided by the Belgian charitable foundation BEforUkraine.

A boxer from Sumy sells gloves with the signature of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, world champion in five weight categories. Ukrainian athlete Taras Shelestyuk, the owner of a valuable autograph, announced a charity auction. The proceeds will go to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Chernihiv oblast

The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that Semenivka community in Chernihiv oblast came under russian shelling. In the morning, around 9:00 am, the occupiers fired 16 artillery strikes on the village of Halahanivka.

The ‘North’ Operational Command reported that the enemy continues to hit the civilian infrastructure of Chernihiv oblast. Around 4:00 pm, the russians struck an industrial enterprise in Semenivka region with aircraft. Buildings were destroyed due to the impact of guided aerial bombs. One of the workers was injured.

Vyacheslav Chaus, Head of the Chernihiv RMA, announced that 31 of the 36 bridges destroyed or damaged by the war have been restored. He also noted that there is a lot of work to restore buildings: only 3 K out of 12 K damaged objects have been rebuilt so far.

Chernihiv City Council reported that reconstruction of the largest school is underway in Chernihiv. The school building was damaged by russian shelling. The Global Empowerment Mission organization is helping to rebuild the educational institution, whose president visited Chernihiv and paid a visit to the school.

Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv RMA,  stated that the most dangerous flood in the last 10 years is expected in Chernihiv oblast, and because of that there is a need to evacuate residents. So far, 7 settlements along the Dnipro River have been flooded, and residents are being helped.

Recent events in the central regions of Ukraine

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

Serhii Lysak, Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, informed that the UN Children’s Fund UNICEF handed over1500 gadgets. These are tablets and Chromebooks – special laptops for working online. The devices were handed over to community representatives. Children from the most vulnerable categories such as internally displaced orphans will receive them.

Vinnytsia oblast

In the village of Busha, Vinnytsia oblast, construction of environmentally friendly housing for internally displaced persons has begun. The two-storey building of 442 square meters will accommodate 100 people.

Kirovohrad oblast

Mathias Winkenjohan, police dog handler from Germany  first came to Ukraine on March 6, 2022, to bring humanitarian cargo. During his sixth visit to Ukraine, he shared his professional experience as a dog trainer with Ukrainian police officers, in particular, in Kropyvnytskyi.

The staff of the Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine in Kirovohrad oblast purchased a quadcopter for a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In Kpopyvnytskyi, a charity exhibition “Echoes of the War that Lingers” was opened in the regional local history museum. The exhibition presents numerous fragments of the weapons sent from the font by military personnel. These items are material evidence of russian crimes in Ukraine.

Poltava oblast

An authentic Easter fair took place in Reshetylivka Professional Art Lyceum. The collected funds will be transferred to the military hospital to support the wounded.

Cherkasy oblast

A charity Easter fair was held in the Zvenyhorodka regional center. At the fair, visitors could taste pancakes made by young volunteers Mark Kulesha and Oleksii Yastremskyi. It is not their first participation in such events. This time, the boys collected UAH 7,355 in 4 hours. In total, UAH 22,196 was collected for the Armed Forces during the charity fair.

Latest news from the front of the southern regions of Ukraine

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The russian army launched another airstrike with Su-35 planes on the city of Orikhiv. Private houses and the Youth Sports School were damaged.

On April 13, the enemy made 81 strikes on the demarcation line: one missile, seven aviation, 68 artillery bombardments, three attacks using UAVs, and two with MLRS. The enemy shelled Malynivka, Mala Tokmachka, Preobrazhenka, Zaliznychne, and another 14 towns and villages.

On April 14, a powerful explosion occurred in the temporarily occupied Melitopol. According to Mayor Ivan Fedorov, the explosion took place near the railway depot where the enemy’s equipment and repair base are located.

The russians are preparing to hold Zaporizhzhia NPP employees hostage for a long time. The press service of Energoatom reported that the russians have brought in a lot of provision and water to the station. They are likely not to release the station personnel after one of the upcoming shifts.

Volunteers have provided portable charging stations to support citizens in case of possible power outages in Zaporizhzhia oblast. The charging stations are reliable and have high technical characteristics.

Mykolaiv oblast

This morning, the occupiers shelled Ochakiv again. According to Mykolaiv Regional Administration, there were no casualties reported.

The European Investment Bank will allocate an additional 20 million euros to Mykolaiv as part of a credit program to restore the city’s water supply and sewage system. The funding is part of the Municipal Infrastructure Development Program in Ukraine.

Several charity fairs were held in Pervomaisk under the slogan “Thank you, Armed Forces, for Easter.” Folk artists from the city and neighboring areas, as well as schools, art schools, and cultural institutions, participated in the event. The artists sold paintings, beadwork, toys, souvenirs, Easter cakes, and various sweets. Cultural institutions organized photo zones on the theme of Easter. 

Odesa oblast

A delegation from the Italian sister city of Venice, led by Mayor Luigi Brugnaro, arrived in Odesa for an official visit. A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the preservation and development of Odesa’s cultural heritage was signed. The mayor of Venice noted that they have extensive experience in restoration work, and the Italians are ready to share their knowledge with Odesa. After the victory, they can also help with the development of the port.

A modular town was organized for internally displaced persons in Velykyi Dalnyk community of Odesa oblast. Initially, it was designed for 125 places, but later it was expanded to 250 places. Housing was converted from shipping containers, and three or four people can live in each of them. There are toilets, kitchens, shower rooms, bedrooms, a medical center, a dining room, separate rooms where washing machines are installed. Engineering networks, electricity supply, and the landscaping were carried out.

Odesa Regional Psychiatric Hospital No. 2 received humanitarian aid from the Razom for Ukraine charity fund from the United States. Trucks have arrived at the medical facility, along with walkers, wheelchairs, crutches, mattresses, functional beds, and medical and social products.

Lana Vetrova, Head of the National Register of Records of Ukraine,  reported that the largest map of Ukraine made from Easter bread was created in Podilsk. Its dimensions are 11.4 by 7 meters. Immediately after the record, 5900 blessed Easter cakes were sent to our soldiers on the front line.

Kherson oblast

On April 13, russian occupiers shelled peaceful settlements in Kherson oblast 68 times. They fired 280 shells from heavy artillery, MLRS, mortars, tanks, drones, and aircraft. The russian army attacked residential areas of Kherson four times. A fire broke out in the warehouse premises with an area of 800 square meters as a result of shelling on a plant in the northern part of the city. As a result of the shelling during the previous day, two residents of Kherson oblast were killed, and four others injured to varying degrees.

A drone dropped an explosive device on a police car patrolling the territory of Novoberyslav, and one law enforcement officer was injured. In total, the police opened 29 criminal proceedings for war crimes committed by the russian army in Kherson oblast.

The General Staff reported that russian occupiers are forcing people to re-register their vehicles according to russian normative-legal acts, for which owners need to have russian passports in some settlements of Kakhovka region, Kherson oblast. .

Another mobile concrete shelter has been installed in Suvorovskyi district of Kherson. The structure can protect against shock waves, debris, and elements of cluster munitions. In case of shelling, up to 25 people can be accommodated in the shelter simultaneously.

Latest news for today in the western regions of Ukraine

Volyn oblast

The RMA held a meeting with representatives of UNICEF. They discussed the provision of assistance to orphans, children with disabilities, and those in difficult life circumstances.

Zakarpattia oblast

The Uzhhorod City Children’s Clinical Hospital received equipment worth over UAH 2.5 million thanks to the “Children for Peace – a multi-sectoral intervention in Ukraine” project which was financed by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development AICS in partnership with the international “Friends of Children Ukraine” CF.

The public space of the international humanitarian organization Help – Hilfe zur selbsthilfe was opened in Uzhhorod. Its activities will provide an opportunity to develop and implement new projects to support Ukrainians and help those in need.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

Svitlana Onyshchuk, Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk RMA, announced that the military received 5 quadcopters with additional elements, 7 tablets, memory cards, 10 Canon multifunctional devices, 10 laptops, headlamps, launchers and various construction materials worth almost UAH 700K.

Lviv oblast

The memory of the fallen Heroes was commemorated in Drohobych. A memorial service was held on the Alley of Glory and at the cemetery where our defenders are buried.

Communities of Lviv oblast received 4 industrial floor washing machines thanks to the USAID HOVERLA project, “Increasing the efficiency and accountability of local self-government bodies“.

The RMA reported that volunteers from Strii region sent Easter goodies, children’s drawings, cigarettes and hygiene products to fellow soldiers.

In Pidberiztsivsk community, 190 Easter kits were handed over to the elderly, children deprived of parental care, families of Heroes and families of IDPs thanks to the program “Easter Social set of Pidberiztsivk Village Council for 2023“.

Two soldiers from Chervonohrad region were awarded (posthumously) with the 3rd degree Order of For Courage. Andrii Kozhenevskyi was killed while repelling an attack by a sabotage and intelligence group in Zaporizhzhia oblast in June 2022. Pavlo Synyshyn was killed as a result of bullet wounds in Mykolaiv oblast in June 2022.

Rivne oblast

The City Council of Rivne held a meeting with Etienne de Ponsin, Ambassador of France to Ukraine. They discussed the current military and humanitarian situation in Rivne, as well as the needs of the city.

Rivne oblast received over 100 functional beds for medical and social institutions from the Czech Republic.

Families with children who were forced to leave their homes because of the war baked Easter cakes together. This event was organized by the Regional Day Center of Social and Psychological Assistance together with a caring business.

Ternopil oblast

Serhii Nadal, Mayor of the city, announced that on April 17, in Ternopil, deputies will consider the issue of terminating the right to use the land of the UOC Church of the moscow Patriarchate.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A meeting of the executive committee in Khmelnytskyi decided to provide one-time financial assistance to 5 families of captured and missing soldiers. In addition, 128 residents  will receive assistance in the total amount of UAH 514K to treat children, families of fallen soldiers, wounded, victims of a terrorist attack in previous months.

Chernivtsi oblast

The City Council of Chernivtsi held a meeting with Anka Feldhusen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine. They discussed joint social projects.

The RMA held a meeting with Mr. Matti Maasikas, EU Ambassador, Head of the EU Representation in Ukraine. The creation of a modern rehabilitation center in Chernivtsi on the basis of the Chernivtsi regional hospital for war veterans was discussed.

A modular town for 225 IDPs was opened in the oblast thanks to the EU, the Federal Government of Germany and the GIZ international cooperation company.

Khotyn community sent humanitarian aid, namely, 3 cars, medicines, stews, coffee, cookies, hygiene products, etc., to the military thanks to volunteers, caring residents, representatives of the diaspora and Polish friends.

The Sokyrian hospital received humanitarian aid thanks to the “Medical Equipment for the Sokyrian Hospital” project implemented by the Search for Innovations public organization with the financial support of the German Embassy in Ukraine.

Almost 40 families from among IDPs and residents of Khotyn community received sets of fodder for animals thanks to the program of the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO). They were distributed depending on the availability of animals.

Children of IDPs and the military are treated for caries free of charge in Bukovina. Over 40 clinics in 17 cities of Ukraine participate in the charity project. In three months, 500 children’s teeth were treated, the overall goal is to save 5K children’s smiles.
