 The Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the militants’ positions. They eliminated Head of the Air Defense unit of the 1st Army Corps of the so-called “DNR Militia”, Colonel Dmytro Tskhe, the call sign “Koreiets”. Previously, the terrorist headed the Air Defense Force group in Sloviansk.

➤ Towards Bakhmut, troops suffered losses and retreated from the neighbourhoods of Soledar, Zaitsevo, Maiorsk, and Ivano-Dariivka.

➤ On August 17, the Ukrainian military  killed 29 occupiers in the south. A 203-calibre Pion self-propelled gun, five armoured and motor vehicles, and an ammunition supply warehouse were destroyed in Bilohirka. The final enemy losses are being investigated.

➤ Trojmiasto reports that Polish officials started restricting temporary residence and work permits for russians, citing recommendations from the Internal Security Agency.

➤ In Ukraine, the Foundation, named after the Blessed Holy Martyr Klymenty Sheptytskyi, started to help women in russian captivity and children who lost their parents during the war. The foundation resulted from a joint initiative of the governments of Ukraine and Poland. The Polish government allocated 8 million zlotys (about 64 million UAH) to the Foundation. 

➤ The Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed a russian military base in Nova Kakhovka, Kherson Oblast. The State Border Service reports at least 12 dead russians.

➤ By the Independence Day of Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, and Estonia plan to collect four million euros for weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is now a shield for the whole world, so other countries appreciate the sacrifice Ukraine makes and continue to help.

➤ The Latvians collect funds for a Bayraktar drone for Ukraine. The initiative was published on Tuesday, August 16. In total, it is necessary to gather 5 million euros.

​​​➤ The Press Service of the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, reports that he arrived in Lviv, where on August 18, he will meet with President of Ukraine Zelenskyy and President of Turkey Erdogan.
