Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Bakhmut, and Popasna remain the hottest spots.
Towards Popasna near Komyshuvakha, the enemy was pushed back by two kilometers. The Lysychansk-Bakhmut route is less fired upon now.
In the Kherson oblast, the Armed Forces went on the offensive, the Russians suffered losses and took up defense on unfavorable frontiers.
The “North” operational command reported that the russian army fired again at the settlements of Chernihiv and Sumy oblast. So, about 12:43 seven explosions in the area of Semenovka of the Chernihiv oblast have been registered. At 13:00 to 13:12, observers registered five explosions (according to preliminary information, from a mortar) near the village of Bachivska, Sumy oblast. There are no casualties among personnel and equipment.
Due constant russian bombing and shelling by the armed forced, 1 888 educational institutions in Ukrainian cities and villages were damaged, 180 of them were completely destroyed.
A left lane of the international highway M-06 Kyiv – Zhytomyr was opened near the destroyed bridge in Stoyanka, which will partially restore truck traffic.
Ukrainian rolling steel continues to be loaded in russian-occupied Mariupol. On May 28, supported by the russian military, a russian flag cargo ship type “river-sea” PM3 class “Slavutich” (home port Rostov-na-Donu) entered the port water. For the second day it is loaded with Ukrainian rolled steel / rolled metal.
In the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, the occupation administration ordered to stop admitting civilians to hospitals to vacate beds for the wounded.

At the end of May, the 90-day deadline set by the putin regime for the so-called “special operation” expires. Contractors who came to fight in Ukraine in February have legal grounds to leave the military service. According to intercepted SBU talks, the russian military is looking forward to returning to russia and complains that there are no people willing to replace them on the battlefield in Ukraine.
Lithuanian internet language company Laisvės TV has raised the necessary five million Euros to buy the famous Bayraktar drone and transfer it to Ukraine. The initiators of the campaign managed to raise this money in one and a half days. Laisvės TV promises to transfer the collected money to the Ministry of Defense.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the positions of the Ukrainian army in Kharkiv oblast and presented awards to the servicemen.
During the day, pyrotechnic units of the SES were involved 155 times, 871 explosive devices were neutralized, 955 hectares of territory were inspected. They worked in Kharkiv oblast 4 thousand 650 times, in Kyiv oblast – 2 thousand 546, in Chernihiv oblast – 1 thousand 531, in Mykolayiv oblast – 1 thousand 339, in Cherkasy oblast – 773, Sumy oblast -565.
115 miners were stuck underground in Donetsk oblast as a result of hostilities. There is no power supply in Bakhmut and Kramatorsk districts. “Currently, the administration is taking the necessary measures to raise the miners to the surface,” – said Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Regional military administration.
“The number of civilian casualties is tens (!) times greater than the losses of the Armed Forces,” said Prime Minister Shmygal. It proves one more time the russian army fights against civilians rather than the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed an enemy ammunition depot and 39 rashists in the east. The occupiers fired on 46 settlements in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, destroying and damaging 62 civilian objects: 59 residential buildings, an electric substation and a house of culture.
In the afternoon of May 29, the russian military struck Kharkiv again, shelling the area of the village of Zhukovsky and the KHAI. According to preliminary data, no one was killed or injured.
Today, the russian occupiers used barrel and jet artillery to fire. They conducted air reconnaissance. In addition, they launched an airstrike on the village of Prudyanka. With the support of artillery, they carried out assault operations in the direction of Pasik – Bogorodichne, had no success, then retreated to previously occupied positions. They fired several artillery and mortar shells at the settlements of Velyka Komyshuvakha, Dovhenke, and Virnopillya.
Today in Kharkiv the subdivision of AZOV special operations forces was officially formed in Kharkiv. Another combat unit that will operate in Kharkiv oblast and liberate our land from the occupiers. Anatoliy Sydorenko has been appointed the unit’s commander.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the positions of the Ukrainian army in Kharkiv oblast. He inspected the destroyed residential buildings and administrative buildings in the city, saw the broken russian equipment near Kharkiv.
People in the villages of the Chkalovsk community, through which the front line passed, were left without power, money, food and parts of houses. The center of the community was under occupation, and the villages in the controlled territory were under constant russian shelling.
During the past 24hrs, the Armed Forces repulsed 14 russian attacks in the Donbas. This was reported in the press service of the Environmental Protection Forces. Also Ukrainian soldiers destroyed:
- 2 artillery systems;
- 11 units of combat armored vehicles;
- 10 enemy vehicles;
- 2 X-59MK cruise missiles;
- 3 Cube drones.
The head of the region Pavlo Kyrylenko said in one day, the russians killed 3 civilians in Donetsk oblast: two in Avdiivka and one in Soledar.
Some units of the enemy were withdrawn from the settlement of Lyman. The enemy fired 4 missiles at the settlements of Verkhnekamyanske, Vrubivka and Soledar. There are histories near Komyshuvakha and Toshkivka. Towards Popasna near Komyshuvakha, the enemy was pushed back by two kilometers. Lysychansk-Bakhmut route is now shot less. The humanitarian cargo is still being delivered.
Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Regional military administration, informed that as a result of hostilities, in Bakhmut and Kramatorsk districts there is no power supply. 115 Toretsk miners remained underground in Donetsk oblast: 112 at Tsentralnaya mine and 3 at Toretskaya mine. Currently, administrations are taking the necessary measures to raise miners to the surface.
Ukrainian rolled steel/rolled metal is being loaded in the Mariupol commercial port.
The russian occupiers are trying to gain a foothold on the northeastern outskirts of Severodonetsk and are assaulting the city center. Their main goal is to surround our troops in the areas of Lysychansk and Severodonetsk and to block the main logistics routes.
In Severodonetsk, there is fighting near the bus station, the situation is complicated. The Ukrainian military has a strong defensive position. The city will be able to hold out even with limited reserves. It is being constantly fired upon. The humanitarian headquarters located in the city was disabled today. Mobile communication is not operational in the city. There is a power blackout. The situation in the region is difficult, but controlled.
There is no evidence of the enemy’s assault groups amassing along Ukraine’s border with Belarus. The Ministry of Internal Affairs units are ready to repel any further invasion attempts by russia from the north. Security service in the border regions has been increased, and additional patrols are being deployed.
“The enemy engages in harassing fire, preventing us from redeploying certain reserve forces to the areas of more intense fighting,” the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevgenii Yenin stated yesterday on air of the all-Ukrainian telethon. Artillery and mortar shelling is being conducted from the territory of russia. There are also infiltration attempts by sabotage and reconnaissance groups which usually encounter fierce response and retreat.
“No activity from the Belarusian border is observed in the Kyiv Oblast,” the Head of Kyiv Regional Administration said. The operation headquarters is working on a 24/7 basis, and all services in the region work under no timeline.
Oleksii Kuleba believes that it is crucial to completely resume the traffic flows on the highway of international importance M-06 (Kyiv-Chop), passing through Kyiv oblast. In less than two months, a new crossing was built in place of the destroyed bridge in Stoyanka.
Now this section of the highway is safe for all types of transport. The movement of heavy vehicles has resumed. The right-hand lane reconstruction is to be completed in the fall.
Demining continues in Kyiv oblast. According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, on May 28, survey and disposal of explosive devices was carried out in the settlements of Bucha, Brovary, Vyshhorod and Bila Tserkva districts. EOD units surveyed 16.39 hectares of territory, checked 7 km of highways, and disposed of 259 explosive devices.
Many families in Kyiv oblast became homeless as a result of russian aggression. A total of 161 high-rise buildings and 4674 private homes were destroyed. In Borodianka, a modular town is being built to provide temporary accommodation for about 350 people.
About 50 houses in the village of Demydov, Kyiv Oblast, are still flooded. This happened as a result of a dam blow-up, which helped to deter the enemy army on the outskirts of the capital. The issue must be resolved shortly.
There is going to be an exhibition in Kyiv called “Invasion. Kyiv Shot”, dedicated to the defense of the city against russian troops. Visitors will be able to see the equipment and belongings of russian soldiers, russian propaganda handbooks meant to be used in the occupied regions, remains of ammunition, items destroyed by the occupiers, and photos taken by museum staff in liberated towns and villages. The exhibition will take place at the National Museum of the History of Ukraine from May 30 to June 11.
´North´ Operative Command has reported that during the day the enemy shelled the borders of Chernihiv oblast from its territory. Seven explosions (incomings) were recorded near Semenivka. There were no losses among personnel or equipment.
The infrastructure and communications in the liberated regions are being restored. Gas supply has been resumed to 2300 homes in the Chernihiv district.
Vyacheslav Chaus, head of Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, stated that soon several temporary modular towns will be set up in Chernihiv oblast for the residents of the most affected neighborhoods in Chernihiv and its suburbs. About 3K houses of Chernihiv residents were damaged or destroyed as a result of the war. Commissions are now working to document the damage.
Representatives of the International Medical Corps recently donated six cars and an ambulance to medical facilities in Chernihiv oblast.
As reported by the Regional Military Administration, on the night of May 29, the aircraft of the Air Force of the AFU hit two russian targets, presumably UAVs, in the sky over Romny district.
At around 07:35, Boyaro-Lezhachi (Nova Sloboda community) was attacked from the russian territory. Approximately 20 explosions were recorded. According to the ´North’ Operative Command, there were no losses among the personnel or equipment.
During the day the enemy bombarded the outskirts of Bachivsk, Shostka district with mortar. There were about 5 incoming mortar shells. No casualties.
On May 29, at a briefing, Daryna Tsurkan, chief specialist of the media relations department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk oblast, stated no one was killed or injured due to the rocket attack on Kryvyi Rih on May 28.
Two rockets hit an industrial plant, and a fire broke out. 22 specialists and 6 special vehicles of the State Emergency Service took part in extinguishing.
The enemy fired from various types of artillery on the contact line in the Kryvyi Rih district last night. There were no other emergencies.
Shelling of the territory of three communities in the Kryvyi Rih district was registered later, mostly in the fields. Outbuildings and one residential building were damaged in the Zelenodolsk community. It was relatively calm in other areas of the region.
More than 100 regional volunteer associations help our military and IDPs. The regional administration is closely cooperating with the most powerful center “Defense of Poltava”, visited today by Deputy Head of the President Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko. Here they weave camouflage nets, sew kikimora camouflage ghillie suits, collect individual first aid kits, hand over food and medicine to soldiers, create military merchandise and much more.
There are no changes in other central regions of Ukraine.
The situation on the southern front and this area remains dynamic and tense.
The enemy is trying to hold on to the built defensive lines. It continues to use artillery and mortars on settlements and positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The russian army is using Ka-52 reconnaissance attack helicopters to detect and target our units.
Ship groups in the Black Sea are still threatening the region with missile strikes and under its cover are attempting to lift the stricken Raptor-class patrol boat. Once lifted, the Raptor is planned to be sent to Donuzlav base point.
Over the past day, russian troops did not take active offensive actions toward Zaporizhzhia but shelled civilian infrastructure along the line of contact.
As of May 29, the russians are concentrating their main forces and military equipment in the regions of Orikhov, Huliaipole, Velyka Novosilka, Donetsk oblast. They continue to build up their forces and military equipment in Vasylivka and Polohy.
Restraining actions are underway along the demarcation line at other frontiers. Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian defenders destroyed enemy equipment and manpower: a tank, self-propelled artillery, two armoured combat vehicles, three Orlan-10 UAVs, four vehicles, five mortars and eliminated 7 russian soldiers, wounded 12.
Soldiers of AZOV Special Operations Forces and artillery of Armed Forces of Ukraine have successfully liquidated the occupants’ positions in Zaporizhzhia oblast.
A patriotic action in support of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine was held in occupied Melitopol. People took to the streets to a patriotic rally. The protesters sang the anthem and held banners with yellow and blue flags and ribbons.
Russian troops again shelled Mykolaiv with Uragan multiple rocket launchers. Eight buildings were damaged as a result of the shelling. One person died on the spot and 7 were injured in various degrees of severity.
Over the past 24 hours, three fires occurred in Mykolaiv oblast due to shooting of russian troops. Pyrotechnic teams seized 73 munitions.
Roads in Mykolaiv were damaged due to shelling by russian troops. Workers of “Operational linear control of highways” municipal enterprise, engaged in repairing damaged roads, are working on about 250 square metres of the road a day.
The number of unemployed in Mykolaiv oblast after 24 February 2022 increased by about 40 per cent compared to the same period in 2021. Many employers have suspended their activities, “conserved” their business or downsized.
According to South Operational Command, the territorial defence in Odesa is being trained to master tactical medicine skills. The ongoing training, gaining knowledge and skills in tactical medicine will enable the fighters to act correctly in extreme situations and subsequently carry out their tasks.
One of the city hospitals in Odesa received humanitarian aid from German partners – a reanimobile, ultrasound machine and other medical equipment.
As a result of offensive actions of the Defence Forces units, the enemy suffered and took up defense at unfavourable lines near Andriivka, Lozove and Bilohirka, Kherson oblast.
Military actions continue. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy keeps increasing its air defence system thanks to S-300 missile systems and concentrates its main efforts on holding the occupied lines.
Over the last 24 hours, the russian troops shelled civilian infrastructure in Prybuzke, Posad-Pokrovske, Blahodatne, Osokorivka, Novovorontsovka, Novooleksandrivka and other settlements.
The self-proclaimed “authorities” in occupied Henichesk are preparing for the tourist season at gunpoint. Russian armed troops stormed “Bilyy Lebid” (White Swan) and “Arabatka.club” local recreation centres on Arabat Arrow. Invaders prohibited local guards from letting people into the centres, threatening that “soon these territories will become russian property”.
According to Serhiy Danylov, director of the Association of Middle East Studies, all the teachers refused to work according to the russian curriculum in Ozeriany, Sokolohirne, Novohryhorivka villages, Henichesk region.
In all Srarostyn districts of Tiahynka city territorial community, invaders appointed their “new leadership”, which accepts citizens on social issues. Collaborators started to take a census of the citizens and offer to sign up for russian humanitarian aid.
Invaders appointed Valeriy Sheludko, the institution’s security guard, as the new head of the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theatre.
In the Volyn and Polissia areas there is an increase in the number of operational and combat training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus. The threat of missile and air strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure from the territory of the Republic of Belarus remains.
Business is actively relocating to the western regions of Ukraine. Zakarpattia, Lviv and Chernivtsi remain the most popular areas for relocation of enterprises.
601 companies that took part in the relocation program have completed relocation from areas where hostilities continue. 390 of them have already resumed work on new sites in the western regions of Ukraine. Another 87 companies are at various stages of transportation.
At the initiative of Volyn border guards, a charity race “Let’s protect our border” took place in Lutsk. Its purpose is to raise funds to strengthen the defense of the state border.
About 400 people supported the actions, UAH 70K were collected.
Leather craftsman Stepan Tsymbalyuk and his wife reshaped family production after the start of a full-scale war. Now they make stretchers for the wounded, as well as other stuff for the military: a cover-mount for a turnstile, bags for dropping shops, results for a first aid kit or shop, an evacuation sling, and so on. The emphasis is on making strong and light products. The fabric used for the base is light, so the approximate weight of the product is 950 grams. During the work they made about half a thousand burdens for the Armed Forces.
Prominent German politicians and public figures, former Federal Commissioners for Immigrants and National Minorities Hartmut Koszyk and Bernd Fabricius, visited Ukraine. On the eve of May 28, as part of the “Upper Franconia-Zakarpattia Humanitarian Bridge” project, they brought humanitarian aid to Uzhhorod. The German delegation met Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv.
More than fifty IDPs who took refuge in Uzhhorod went today to rest and recuperate in the sanatorium “Polyana” in Svalyava. By ZOVA message, families with children, pensioners and people with disabilities went on vacation.
UAH 64,300 were raised as part of the UzhhorodITCup charity football tournament in Uzhhorod. Athletes from the region, teams and partners of the Zakarpattia IT cluster competed in the tournament.
Public Organization “Young Education of Prykarpattia” reports that on May 30 in the Kalush district IDPs, as well as residents in need of social support will be able to receive humanitarian aid. They will distribute baby food and hygiene products, textiles, shopping bags, toys, used clothes, shoes, and some medicines.
Last night, May 28, in Lviv oblast, an air alert was sounded once, there was a threat of a russian missile strike from the east.
During the past 24hrs, another 181 people from the regions where the fighting continues have been resettled in the oblast. 40K people left Ukraine and 41K returned across the western border.
5 higher vocational schools of Lviv for free repaired cars to support the Armed Forces. In total, in March-May, masters and pupils of Lviv schools repaired 35 cars: cars, SUVs, minibuses, trucks. The cars were restored for the Armed Forces, Territorial Defense Forces and volunteers.
The Luhansk Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary moved to Rivne oblast due to russia’s military aggression.
Rivne authorities reports that in Rivne oblast there is a volunteer movement “Ukraine – for heroes”, operating under the auspices of the President of Ukraine.
During 95 days of the war, volunteers delivered about 900 tons of humanitarian aid to Kyiv and Kyiv oblast, Chernihiv oblast, Sumy oblast, Odesa oblast, Dnipropetrovsk oblast, Luhansk oblast, Donetsk oblast, Kharkiv and Kharkiv oblast, Poltava oblast.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Ukraine Valeriu Kiver brought to Chernivtsi equipment that will strengthen protection of the state border, as well as humanitarian cargo for people who came to Bukovyna because of the war.
