It has been the ninety-fourth day of Ukrainians’ resistance.

The situation in Donbas remains very complicated. The occupiers concentrated a maximum of artillery and reserves in the east. There are missile strikes and aircraft. After fierce fighting, the occupiers suffered heavy losses and retreated in the area of ​​Severodonetsk, Toshkivka and Oskolonivka. Active hostilities continue.

Ukraine briefly:

The latest information as of May 28, 2022 on the russian invasion based on the summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine:

Towards Siversk, the russian occupiers focused on holding and blocking Ukrainian defenders and preventing Ukrainian forces from deployment.

They continue shelling and remotely mine routes of the Ukrainian troops’ advance.

In Dnipropetrovsk oblast night and morning were restless. At night, the enemy fired again at the Zelenodolsk community. There are damages and destruction. People were not injured. Details are being clarified.

Sumy oblast: from midnight to 4 am the enemy fired on Ukrainian territories. An enemy missile destroyed an agricultural enterprise on the outskirts of Putivl. From russia, the occupiers fired mortar fire at the Znob-Novgorod community. No casualties reported.  There was also artillery shelling of the Esman community. There are no human casualties.

Kharkiv oblast: around 1 am there were several hits in Malaya Danylivka, Kyiv district of Kharkiv, fires broke out in 2 houses of the private sector. According to preliminary data, no one was injured. During the past 24hrs, the occupiers fired on the Kharkiv district – one person was killed and 1 injured in the town of Slatine, and one person was injured in the town of Balaklia.

Luhansk oblast: after heavy fighting, the russians suffered significant losses and were forced to retreat in the area of ​​Severodonetsk, Toshkivka and Oskolonivka. However, they keep trying to go to the rear of Ukrainian troops and “cut off” Luhansk oblast. In Severodonetsk, 14 high-rise buildings were damaged. The nearby village of Synetsky was also severely shelled. In addition, destruction was recorded in other cities of Luhansk oblast: in Horsky, Zoloty and Lysychansk, as well as in Vrubivka and Orikhovo. No civilians were killed.

Donetsk oblast: along the defense line, there were active hostilities. Lyman: there were rocket attacks and artillery shelling, numerous destructions of residential buildings, at least one person was killed. Krasnohorivka and Marinka was bombarded with artillery. An airstrike hit the village of Novomykhailivka. The consequences are being clarified. The Armed Forces remain in their positions. 

Mykolayiv oblast: in the greater part of the region the night was calm. In the afternoon of May 28, the russians fired on the Shyrokiv community again. Dwelling houses were damaged, no one was injured. Also on May 28, the occupiers fired heavily at the village of Lyubomyrivka and the village of Green Grove of the Shevchenko community. The information about the victims and the destruction is being clarified.

There were attacks day and night in the Bereznehuvatsky community. The houses were damaged. According to preliminary information, there are no victims.

Kherson oblast: shelling and explosions throughout the territory. The situation is tense. Residents of the Velykooleksandrivska and Kalynivska communities reported numerous aircraft and machine gun fire in the occupied villages. The situation is very complicated in the settlements of Vysokopilska, Novovorontsovska and neighboring communities.

It was relatively calm in Volyn, Zakarpattia, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Odesa, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Ternopil, Lviv, Khmelnytsky, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Chernihiv and Poltava oblasts.

Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov states that three types of 155-mm artillery are already operating successfully at the front – the M777 howitzer, the FH70 howitzer, the CAESAR anti-aircraft gun, and that the M109 self-propelled artillery unit had already arrived in Ukraine.

The russian federation has announced pseudo-humanitarian routes in the Black Sea for civilian shipping. The aggressor country cannot be a guarantor of security, because from the first days of the full-scale invasion, in violation of the security of civil shipping and international humanitarian law, russia has been attacking foreign civilian ships.

The occupiers transferred Kherson oblast to moscow time, the occupied region will no longer switch to winter time, as is customary in Ukraine. The occupiers stated that they had transferred Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts to the russian telephone code +7 and were going to issue russian passports under a simplified procedure.

The court found a resident of Makeyevka, Donetsk oblast, guilty of treason, at whose instigation russia fired on Kharkiv, and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, there have been 367 cases of occupiers damaging cultural heritage sites: the complete destruction of 9 cultural heritage sites in Donetsk, Kyiv, Sumy and Chernihiv oblasts. Other facilities suffered various degrees of damage. Destruction of cultural facilities has already been recorded in 13 oblasts. The Kharkiv oblast suffered the most. 96 crimes were committed by the occupiers. Throughout Ukraine, russians are “at war” with houses of culture, libraries, and theaters, etc. They destroyed or damaged 74 such buildings. The invaders are also destroying religious buildings, historical and cultural monuments, as well as memorials and museums.

Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Slovenia have jointly called for confiscation of russian assets frozen by the European Union as part of sanctions due to the war in Ukraine.

The campaigns in support of Ukraine’s EU candidate status will be held in seven EU cities on May 28 at the bloc’s June summit.

As of this morning, more than 682 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the armed aggression of the russian federation: 242 children were killed and more than 440 injured.

A flower garden dedicated to the legendary Mriya plane has been created in Kyiv.

More than 150 cities in more than 20 countries have already terminated twin relations with more than 160 cities in russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that 10 cities plan to do this because the world understands that twin and friendly relations with russia are impossible.

Eastern regions

Kharkiv oblast

Enemy units are building up their main efforts on maintaining their positions and preventing further advance of our troops. The sites in the area west of the settlement of Kozacha Lopan are being constructed and consolidated. The enemy troops are preparing to resume the offensive in certain areas. They continue to transfer weapons, military equipment and other resources from the territory of the russian federation to the Kupyansk district of Kharkiv oblast by railway. 

After conducting reconnaissance with unmanned aerial vehicles, the enemy fired artillery on positions of our troops in the settlements of Nova Dmytrovka, Velyka Komyshuvakha, Dovhenke, Dovhenke, and launched air strikes from helicopters in the area of ​​Dovhenke.

Rescuers from Luhansk oblast, forced to leave their native regions, from the territories temporarily occupied by russian invaders, are now helping to extinguish the fires in the Kharkiv oblast. It was reported that on May 27, they went to the village of Lebiazhe, Chuhuiv district, to put out the fire.

Donetsk oblast 

On May 28, the russians killed two civilians in Donetsk: Bakhmut and Avdiivka. 4 more people were injured today. It is currently impossible to determine the toll of casualties in Mariupol and Volnovakha.

The aggressor is waging active hostilities in Lyman, Bakhmut, Kurakhiv and Avdiivka areas. On the border of Donetsk oblast, russian troops suffered losses and retreated. “As a result of the actions of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, the enemy suffered significant losses and retreated in the areas of the settlement of Novopil,” – the General Staff said.

The Bakhmut-Lysychansk route is under our control, although it is fired with enemy artillery.

The occupiers were unable to restore water supply in Mariupol, mayor council Petro Andriushchenko said. Instead, they set up mobile shower tents. “Thus, Mariupol is becoming the most mobile city in Russia – mobile crematoria, mobile zombies, mobile showers. Russia’s mobility is destruction and looting.”

In addition, the russian military managed to export metal products from Mariupol. To this end, a part of the city’s seaport was cleared of mines. According to the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Liudmyla Denisova, the occupiers began to restore railway connections in Mariupol and Volnovakha to facilitate the loot removal. 3K tons of metal products will be sent by the first ship loaded with looted stuff from Mariupol to Rostov-on-Don occupiers. “Before the occupation, up to 200K tons of metal and cast iron worth $ 170 million were in the port,” Ms. Denisova said.

According to the Ombudsman Denisova, the occupiers inject an unknown drug into the Ukrainian prisoners with the letter “M”, after which people faint and lose their memory. Also under the threat of torture are forced to teach the anthem of the russian federation “Forgive us, native russians”, the history of the coat of arms and the russian flag. Women are detained in the Donetsk pre-trial detention center for 17-20 people in cells for 2-3 people, they are not allowed to wash, they are raped, men are beaten in front of them. Water is not given (only 1.5 liters for 30-40 people), and the daily diet consists of a piece of bread and lard. During interrogations, Ukrainians are strangled, beaten, and electrocuted. It violates the Geneva Convention.

The operations of Sloviansk TPP in Donetsk oblast were halted, “Donbasenergo”. The area where the TPP is located has been under constant fire in recent days. Therefore, “to save the lives and health of staff” the decision was made to stop its operations on May 27, 2022.

During the past 24 hours, SES officers unloaded humanitarian aid to the population of Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Dobropillya, Toretsk and Bakhmut. The total amount of unloaded humanitarian aid is 31 tons.

For the past 24hrs, 83 people were also evacuated, including 28 children and one person with disabilities from the settlements of Sukha Balka, Bakhmut district, Raigorodok and Mykolayivka, Kramatorsk district. A total of 8 363 people have been evacuated from the settlements of Donetsk oblast since February 24, 2022.

Luhansk oblast

According to the head of the Luhansk regional military administration Sergey Haidai the enemy fired at Severodonetsk at least 3 times. The russians also damaged another bridge between Severodonetsk and Lysychansk. As a result, 14 high-rise buildings were damaged and the village of Synetsky was shelled.

Ukrainian defenders have not managed to knock the orcs out of the Myr Hotel, but our defenders have packed many russians in body bags. The night assaults on Severodonetsk, Oskolonivka, and Toshkivka were unsuccessful for the racists. The enemy suffered losses and retreated to its former positions. The same fate awaited the russians in the offensive on Komyshuvakha. In addition, orcs are densely shelling the Lysychansk-Bakhmut route.

In the past 24hrs, eight enemy attacks have been repulsed in Donbass, five tanks, 10 units of armored combat vehicles and 4 enemy vehicles have been destroyed. Air defense units destroyed Orlan-10 UAVs.

Severodonetsk is under constant enemy fire. Kadyrovites are shooting the city for fun, just to shoot a video on Tik-Tok. 14 high-rise buildings in different parts of the city were damaged, especially in Synetsky district. However, there are connections within the region with other regions as well.

There are significant destructions in Lysychansk, Hirski and settlements in the area of Popasna, especially Vrubivka. 12 houses were destroyed  at once.

An airstrike destroyed a cinema building in Lysychansk. No casualties reported.

Northern regions

Kyiv oblast

The curfew in Kyiv oblast will be from 23:00 till 5:00 every day. Such temporary restrictions will be set for the period from May 29 to June 5.

Emergency rescue operations and demining works in Kyiv oblast are being conducted by the 21st EOD unit of the State Emergency Service (109 workers and 39 units of equipment) in Bucha, Brovary, and Vyshhorod districts.

During a survey of our country’s waters, sappers of the State Emergency Service seized 150 explosive objects. The vast majority of them were in Kyiv region.

Throughout the last day, sappers surveyed 213 hectares of Kyiv oblast. 

14.5 km of highways and 6,6 km of power lines were checked.

238 explosive devices were defused.

On May 27, explosive ordnance was searched for and disposed of in the settlements of Bucha, Brovary, and Vyshhorod districts of Kyiv oblast.

Chernihiv oblast

At night the russian troops shelled the border area of Chernihiv oblast. The enemy used tube artillery twice, and once – 120 mm mortars. In all cases, the enemy was targeting the territories of Horodnia district. There was shelling near the “Senkivka” checkpoint.

In the near future, as soon as the water goes down, the construction of a temporary crossing over the Desna river will begin near Chernihiv.

The Ukrainian Railway will launch additional routes on the Chernihiv-Nizhyn route.

Cyber police have identified the invader who robbed a household in Chernihiv oblast. The perpetrator was given the notice of charges in absentia. He can be sentenced to up to twelve years of imprisonment.

A network of ammunition depots was found in Chernihiv oblast. The invaders set them up during their retreat. All munition was handed over to the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Sumy oblast

As a result of a missile strike at 00:35, the rashists damaged an agricultural facility on the outskirts of a town in Konotop district. The enterprise building was completely destroyed. The other buildings were damaged by the blast wave. There were no casualties.

During the day the enemy also shelled Sumy oblast with 120 mm mortars. The mines were exploding on the territory of Shostka district. There were strikes from the russian territory for almost an hour. There were no losses among the military personnel or equipment. No casualties reported. 

After 16:00 an enemy aircraft launched 6 unguided missiles on the border areas of Sumy oblast. The missiles landed outside the settlements and did not cause any casualties or damage to property.

At around 18:00 an enemy aircraft launched 3 unguided missiles at two settlements near the border in Sumy oblast. As a result of shelling, a woman was injured. A church, a kindergarten, a private dwelling, and a road were damaged.

The State Environmental Inspectorate specialists estimated the damage caused by air pollution and forest destruction in Sumy oblast.

In March, for two nights in a row, the russian troops were launching airstrikes on the territory and objects of one of the oil and gas production facilities of Sumy oblast. The cost of damage from fires and air pollution by combustion products has exceeded 140 million UAH. As a result of russian missile strikes on the forest area of Shostka district, the cost of destroyed forest plantations and other forms of damage exceeded 2 million UAH.

Central regions

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

The head of the Regional Military Administration Reznichenko reports that the enemy shelled Kryvyi Rih region at night. Zelenodolsk community was bombarded with artillery. There are damages. No casualties and wounded reported. 

Kirovohrad oblast 

The local, who was in Bucha during the russian occupation and collaborated with the invaders, was detained in the oblast. 

Local bands Cardio and Efir will perform at the charity concert in Kropyvnytskyi. The funds raised will be used to purchase optical devices for the Ukrainian military. ‘Moreover, we remember that right now we are fighting for our culture, identity, history and music.’, says Yevhen Skrypnyk, co-organizer of the event, musician of the Efir band. 

Vinnytsia oblast 

Locals kneeled down to pay final respects to nine  killed policemen of the CORD special forces unit. People made a live corridor from Nemyrivsk highway to Batozka street. The fighters were killed on the battlefield in Zaporizhzhia on May 22 as a result of the large-scale russian invasion in Ukraine. 

Southern regions

As a result of the counteroffensive in the southern direction of our troops, the enemy inflicted significant losses and had to occupy the defence at unfavourable under-equipped lines.

The military actions continue. Russian troops continue shelling the civilian infrastructure in settlements along the administrative border between Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts. Mykolaiv was attacked with multiple rocket launch systems. Preliminarily, the civilians were injured. The information is being verified. 

Russia continues its blockade after failing to get a positive response from the international community to its statement about its alleged readiness to create humanitarian corridors for the withdrawal of civilian ships from blockaded Ukrainian ports.

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Towards Zaporizhzhia, russian troops used mortars, rocket and gun artillery along the line of contact. There were also air strikes from Su-25 attack aircraft in the areas of Mala Tikmachka and Orikhiv.

On May 26, the enemy once again shelled Huliaipole. As a result of the armed attack, private houses, garages and other household buildings of civilians were significantly damaged. Warehouses and hangar premises of private enterprises were damaged with artillery shelling, and walls and cars standing on the production territory were damaged by rocket debris. There is no information about casualties.

According to Oleksandr Yasynetskyi, deputy director of the Department of Agroindustrial Development of the ZRMA (Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration), Ukraine-controlled territories of Zaporizhzhia oblast guarantee food grain supply.

Only 14% of arable land remains in the controlled territory. Spring fieldwork was carried out where possible. The agrarians increased the area of spring wheat and barley sowing. Today, we are working on preparation of soil and sowing of cultivated crops: sunflower and corn.

In Zaporizhzhia oblast, there is grain in elevators and private farms, which can be sold to provide food security to countries depending on food supplies from Ukraine. However, due to inability to transport grain by river or sea, sales are limited.

Utility services in Zaporizhzhia oblast have no time to restore the networks destroyed by shelling. To date, on May 28, 24 778 consumers in 80 settlements of Zaporizhzhia oblast are without electrical supply due to damage to power supply lines, poles and equipment.

Mykolaiv oblast

On Saturday morning, May 28, russian troops shelled Mykolaiv once again. Residential areas were damaged. Several apartment buildings were damaged as a result of shelling. One person was killed on the spot. At least six civilians are also known to have been wounded so far.

As of May 28, since the beginning of the russian invasion, 3 739 civilian objects in Mykolaiv oblast were partially or completely damaged and 3 889 consumers are without gas supply. Currently, there is no water and power supply, drainage in 93 settlements (five of them partially) in Bashtanska and Mykolaiv oblast.

Over the past day, pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine were involved 189 times and deactivated 830 explosive devices, including 4 aerial bombs. 

The Alliance of Public Health delivered another batch of humanitarian aid to Mykolaiv oblast. Among received aid were medicine, medical equipment, including a surgical table for the children’s regional hospital, baby food and hygiene products.

Odesa oblast

After a completed Antarctic season, the Noosfera research vessel cannot return to its homeport, Odesa, because of the war. Yesterday the vessel arrived in the port of Cape Town, South Africa, where it will be based for the next few months. 

Kherson oblast

On the evening of May 27, the russian troops once again shelled Chornobaivka in Kherson oblast. As a result of it, one person was killed and six wounded. Kherson prosecutor’s office is carrying out a pre-trial investigation into the criminal proceeding on violation of the laws and customs of war combined with premeditated murder.

In occupied Kherson oblast, the way out to Ukrainian-controlled territories was completely blocked. Vehicles used by people trying to escape the occupied territories are carefully filtered and sent back.

Western regions

Volyn

In the Volyn and Polissia areas, the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus continue to perform tasks to reinforce protection of the belarusian-ukrainian border. Reserve officers are being trained at the educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus to man the units of the air defense forces. 

Soldiers of the 100th separate TRO brigade conducted anti-sabotage drills. The military worked out actions in case of enemy military penetration. The Volyn military drills were related to the recent belarusian maneuvers near the border with Ukraine.

 Zakarpattia oblast 

A training hub for children of IDPs has been opened in Uzhhorod. Children study for free in two shifts. Lessons are taught by migrant teachers. In total, the hub has 12 teachers and 90 pupils from the1st to 11th grade. The hub’s curriculum meets the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Zakarpattians and guests of the region were forbidden to visit some tourist routes during the martial law. 

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast 

A city picnic for IDPs will take place in Ivano-Frankivsk on Sunday. The program of the event for children and adults includes exchange information about services and self-fulfillment, interactive security classes with patrol officers, creative workshops and games for children, barbecue and an exhibition of paintings.

In Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, UAH 10K were raised in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the charity athletic running race for boys and girls. More than 200 athletes from Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk took part in the race.

Lviv

It was calm and peaceful in Lviv oblast. An air raid siren was heard only once, but there was no actual threat.

Yesterday, on May 27, 14 people who were forced to leave their homes due to the war were resettled in Lviv oblast.

Almost 17K people crossed the border at all checkpoints in Lviv oblast and 38K Ukrainians returned. Cars and buses lined up to enter at checkpoints.

In Drohobych, local students, together with IDPs, are decorating the city’s bomb shelters within the social and art project. Its aim is to turn the shelter into a creative place, and change the gloomy and cold image of the shelter to a more cozy and pleasant.

Ternopil oblast 

In Ternopil, the air raid siren failed. The signal to cancel the air raid siren on the equipment in Alaska district was heard for about an hour after the alarm was lifted. The repair crew went to the site to repair the rack, which relays the air alarm signal.
