Here is operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6pm:

The enemy continues to focus on establishing full control over the territory of Donetsk oblast, maintaining the seized areas of Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv oblasts, restoring the combat capability of the units that suffered losses.

Towards Volyn, Polissia and Siversk, the situation has not changed. The occupiers used barreled artillery to shell near Mykolaivka and Zaliznyi Mist, Chernihiv oblast.

Towards Kharkiv, the enemy fired barreled and rocket artillery at the settlements of Kharkiv, Korobochkine, Petrivka, Protopopivka, Pytomnyk, Ruski Tyshky, Slatyne, Sosnivka, Tsirkuny, Udy, and Velyki Prokhody. There were  airstrikes launched near Pytomnyk, Konstantynivka and Verkhnii Saltiv. The enemy used a UAV to carry out reconnaissance and adjust artillery fire.

Towards Sloviansk, there was shelling near Dolyna, Dibrovne, and Nortsivka. There were airstrikes near Bohorodychne. In the area of Nova Dmytrivka,  aerial reconnaissance was conducted using UAVs.

Towards Kramatorsk, the settlements of Hryhorivka, Bilenke and Siversk    were subjected to fire damage from artillery of various types. The enemy used aircraft for strikes near Tatianivka and Pryshyb. Enemy UAVs conducted reconnaissance of the positions of our  troops.

Towards Bakhmut, fire damage was recorded in Bakhmut, Bakhmutske and Kodema. He launched air strikes near Bakhmut and Soledar.

The invaders made an unsuccessful combat reconnaissance attempt towards Zaitseve and withdrew.

By conducting offensive and assault actions, the enemy tried to advance towards the settlements of Bakhmut, Kodema, Kurdiumivka, Soledar, and Zaitseve. The invaders failed and withdrew.

Towards Avdiivka, near Avdiivka, Novobakhmutivka Opytne, Nevelske and Vodiane, the enemy continued shelling from the entire range of artillery weapons.  Airstrikes were launched near Krasnohorivka and Marinka.

By conducting offensive actions, the occupiers tried to break through the defenses of our troops and advance towards the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Nevelske and Pervomaiske. They had no success and randomly retreated.

Towards Novopavlivka, the enemy fired from barreled and rocket artillery near Pavlivka and Velyka Novosilka. They unsuccessfully tried to gain a foothold towards Novomykhailivka and Zolota Nyva. 

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the settlements of Charivne, Huliaipilske, Novosilka, Novodanylivka, Novopil, Shcherbaky, Vyshneve, and Zelene Pole were fired. The enemy launched air strikes near Malynivka, Zhaliznychne and Vremivka.

Towards the South Buh, the enemy used tanks, barreled artillery and MLRS to shell Chervona Andriivka, Dolyna, Ivanivka, Kyselivka, Kniazivka, Liubomyrivka, Lupareve, Mykolaivka, Myrne, Novohryhorivka, Novooleksandrivka, Oleksandrivka,  Posad-Pokrovske, Prybuzhske and Pervomaiske.

The invaders launched airstrikes near Andriivka, Novohryhorivka and Trudoliubivka. Enemy UAVs were used to conduct reconnaissance near the positions of our troops and adjust artillery fire. 

The ships of the occupiers in the Black and Azov Seas continue to block civilian shipping in the northwestern part of the Black Sea and destroy military facilities and infrastructure in the depths of Ukraine.


Today, the second summit of the Crimean Platform took place online due to russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The summit was attended by 60 countries and international organizations, among them about 40 – at the level of presidents and prime ministers. The main statements of the participants on the Crimean Platform: President of Poland Andrzej Duda called for dismantling the Nord Stream 2 project and once again stressed that Crimea is Ukraine. 

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced preparation of new sanctions against Russia – its citizens and enterprises supporting aggression against Ukraine. It is stressed that the Government of Canada will support Ukraine and Ukrainians, including financially. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stressed that the bloc would help Ukraine defend its independence, switch to the standards of the North Atlantic Alliance and do everything possible to expand military assistance.

Polish President Andrzej Duda came to Kyiv and once again stressed that Poland would support Ukraine until the end of the struggle. He and Mr. Zelenskyy discussed cooperation in the military and humanitarian spheres, participation in restoration of Ukraine. Mr. Duda also congratulated Ukraine and Ukrainians on National Flag Day and Independence Day.

russia reported “adoption” of thousands of deported children from Mariupol. It is known that the children who were taken out of the bombed-out occupied city by the Russians will now live in Tyumen, Irkutsk, Kemerovo and the Altai Territory. More than 300 children are in line for “adoption.” Now they are in specialized institutions of the Krasnodar Territory. This is evidenced by the information on the website of the Department for Family and Childhood of the Krasnodar Territory, which cynically calls Mariupol “liberated”.


Eastern regions

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian troops shelled and launched air strikes on at least 10 settlements near Kostiantynivka, Mospanove, Pytomnyk and Verkhnii Saltiv. According to the Kharkiv State Emergency Service, russian shelling caused six fires in the region.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, informed that the enemy shelled the settlements of Chuhuiv and Izium districts. Civilian buildings were damaged, there were several fires outside the settlements, forest belts and grass were burning.

In the evening, the enemy three times hit Stara Hnylytsia village, Chuhuiv district. Greenhouses were damaged. No casualties. According to the Emergency Medical Care Centre, 2 civilians were injured. A woman in the Chuhuiv district and a man in the Izium district were injured.

Based on the information provided by the State Emergency Service of Kharkiv oblast, in the Nova Bavariia district, a large-scale fire broke out in the building of an industrial enterprise as a result of shelling. The flames covered about 5K square metres.

Kharkiv Mayor, Ihor Terekhov, said that the invaders shelled the Shevchenkove district with artillery. One person was injured.

In the morning, the invaders shelled Korobochkyne village, the Chuhuiv district. A fire broke out. Information on the casualties is being clarified.

Donetsk oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy continues to focus its efforts on establishing full control over Donetsk oblast.  They shelled near Dibrivne, Dolyna and Nortsivka. Air strikes were launched near Bohorodychne. A UAV reconnaissance was conducted near Nova Dmytrivka.

Bilenke, Hryhorivka and Siversk were attacked with artillery of various types. The enemy engaged aviation near Pryshyb and Tetianivka and carried out UAV reconnaissance of Ukrainian positions. Air strikes were carried out near Bakhmut and Soledar. Bakhmut, Bakhmutske and Kodema were also under fire.

Russian troops are shelling settlements in Donetsk oblast daily. A man was killed in Soledar as a result of the shelling. Bakhmut, Kostiantynivka and Sloviansk were again under russian fire.

Head of the Sloviansk City Military Administration, Vadym Liakh, informed that a private house was destroyed as a result of the shelling. There were no casualties.

More than a thousand Ukrainian children from Mariupol were kidnapped and illegally adopted in Altai, Irkutsk, Kemerovo and Tyumen. Another 300 children are kept in institutions in the Krasnodar Region. To encourage adoption, russian authorities offer special financial payments.

Luhansk oblast

 Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, reported that forced mobilization continues in Luhansk oblast. The invaders use various methods to restore the combat effectiveness of their units. For example, in Dovzhansk, russian servicemen tear up passports, deferment or reservation documents during forced mobilization.

The russian Defence Ministry acknowledged the captivity of human rights activist and Armed Forces soldier, Maksym Butkevych, after two months. He is currently held in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk oblast.

Northern regions

Kyiv oblast

The National Flag Day was celebrated in Kyiv oblast today, and flag-raising ceremonies were conducted in all communities of the oblast. To celebrate the occasion, thematic exhibitions were opened in the oblast, and culture, education, and sports representatives were involved. Also, military, police, and rescue team personnel were awarded with state decorations.

A meeting with a representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Ukraine, Caroline Lindholm Billing, was held at the Kyiv Regional Military Administration. During the meeting, they discussed the reconstruction of partially destroyed buildings in the oblast, in particular the reconstruction of houses in Makariv and Borodianka communities.

Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, Vladimir Balaš, has arrived in Kyiv oblast. The guest visited educational institutions in Hostomel and Irpin destroyed by russian shelling. The issues of reopening educational institutions in the oblast and preparations for the new school year were discussed during the visit. 

Two russian servicemen were reported on suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war. The SBI press service stated that two soldiers from the 37th Motorised Rifle Brigade stationed in Buryatia were abusing civilians, looting, and firing at civilian facilities during the occupation of Borodianka and Makariv. They are facing up to 12 years of imprisonment.

Several munitions have been found in the capital’s parks within a day. According to the Patrol Police, locals found two TNT sticks in the Darnytsia district and an object resembling a shell in the Nyvky park.

The MINDY Charity Foundation has announced a series of training courses to help war veterans return to civilian life as soon as possible. In particular, this includes a course in robotics, IT skills, and a logistics manager’s course. Special attention will be paid to veterans having serious injuries and loss of limbs.

The presentation of the Dialogues on War educational project took place in Kyiv. The education material targets 5th-11th graders and explains what the current russian-Ukrainian war is and why russia is trying to take over Ukraine. The project aims to teach children to think critically and not become victims of propaganda.

The CHESNO movement and the Museum of the Revolution of Dignity have created the ‘Infosuprotyv’ exhibition dedicated to Independence Day in the capital. A collection of billboards, graffiti, stamps, postcards, and songs created during our fight against russian aggression on the information front are displayed in the exhibition. The project aims to show that informational resistance helps to counter the enemy and that every citizen can easily join such resistance.

Zhytomyr oblast

A charity foundation Zhytomyr Humanitarian Hub donated about 7 tons of medications to the hospitals of Kharkiv. The supplies were received as aid from partners in Japan, the United States, and the Netherlands. The packages contain bandages, hemostatic, analgesics, children’s medicines, and other products.

Assessment of educational institutions’ readiness for the new school year continues in Zhytomyr oblast. Today, they inspected schools and kindergartens in the Malyn community, which experienced significant damage from russian shelling. All institutions are being provided with the necessary items, emergency exits and ventilation are being checked, and teachers are being instructed.

To celebrate the National Flag Day, Zhytomyr hosted a patriotic boat race on the Teteriv River, during which a 30-meter Ukrainian flag was rolled out. About 80 athletes in outriggers, kayaks, and canoes took part in the event.

Sumy oblast

The enemy continues to shell the border areas of Sumy and Chernihiv regions. According to the SBGS, two 120 mm russian mines exploded on the territory of the Seredyna-Buda community. The Sumy Police Department reported that shots with lighting projectiles were also recorded. A fire broke out near the sewage treatment plant near the city due the shelling.

On the territory of Sumy oblast, they plan to systematically carry out comprehensive counter-subversive measures aimed at preventing and neutralizing reconnaissance and subversive activities of the enemy. This was reported to the SSU of the oblast. Citizens are asked to remain calm and understand possible inconveniences.

Sumy oblast entered the pilot project of the Ministry of Health, according to which gradual changes in the health care system are expected over the course of 2-3 years. Head of the RMA, Dmytro Zhivytskyi, says that the goal of the project is to form a capable network of hospitals that will provide Ukrainians with high-quality medical services that meet international standards and practices. The entire program will cost UAH 7.7 billion. Funds for its implementation will come from international donors and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

11 medical institutions were damaged and another 2 were completely destroyed due to the war in Sumy oblast. According to preliminary estimates, damages from the destruction of hospitals amount to UAH 60 million, from damage – UAH 13 million.

170 wards of the Mental Health Service in Atynske will be transferred to one of the villages near Bilopillia for permanent residence. As reported in the Sumy Regional Council, a subvention of more than UAH 1 million was transferred from the budget of Bilopillia to the oblast budget for preparation and repair of buildings.The patients were evacuated after the shelling of the psychoneurological boarding school by the russian army. At that time, three people were injured and not a single building survived due the enemy strikes.

On the occasion of the Independence Day of Ukraine, the creative project Reincarnation: Portraits That Come to Life was presented in Sumy. This is a project by Anna Havrylenko from Sumy and the Sumy Regional Scientific and Methodological Center of Culture and Arts. The project reproduces 12 famous paintings from collections of Sumy oblast museums. The exhibition will last several weeks in the regional philharmonic hall, and will be shown in other cities of the oblast in the future.

Chernihiv oblast

The SBGS reported that the enemy shelled the territory of the Semenivka community four times with 120-mm mortars and barrel artillery, in total about three dozen explosions were recorded.

Ecologists from the Ecology-Pravo-Liudina international charity are examining the crime scenes in Chernihiv. They are collecting soil samples, taking photos and videos of affected businesses and natural objects. We will remind you that one of the biggest disasters in Chernihiv happened on March 3 from a fire at an oil tank. Also, thousands of tons of polymer materials burned due the russian shelling of the Epicentr construction hypermarket, which led to the release of toxic substances into the air.

Chernihiv oblast received a thousand doses of Janssen (Jcovden) vector vaccine against COVID-19 as part of the COVAX international initiative. Within a week, the oblast should receive another thousand doses. This was reported by Romana Sopotnytska, the main coordinator of the vaccination campaign in the oblast. The drugs will be distributed between vaccination points.

A charity football tournament was held in Chernihiv at the Yunist stadium. 8 teams competed, including professional players and amateurs. During the tournament, the organizers collected UAH 82K for people who lost their houses due to the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Central regions

Dnipropetrovsk oblast

In the evening, the enemy fired at the Zelenodolsk community from Urahans. As a result of the shelling, a woman was killed, her husband wounded. A private residential building was damaged.

At night, the occupiers hit the Nikopol district three times with barrel artillery. 13 shells hit Marganets. Two women were injured, one of them is in hospital. In the city, 6 residential buildings, farm buildings, a gas pipeline and a water supply network were damaged. Another shelling took place near one of the villages of the Marganets community that resulted in power grid damage.

In the Chervonohryhoriv community,  dozens of private houses, cars, and power lines were damaged as a result of shelling. No one was injured.

As a result of an airstrike on Dnipro, one private house was destroyed, another  one damaged. No casualties.

The russian army directed three kamikaze drones and 20 shells from Grads at Nikopol. Several private houses were mutilated, there was a fire. The local water sports complex was also damaged. Previously, no one was injured. Due to the threat of artillery shelling in the city, the Nikopol city council suspended the operation of city public transport. Also, 3 russian reconnaissance drones were shot down by the Armed Forces.

In Dnipro, on Flag Day, one of the largest flags in Ukraine was unfurled on the facade of a high-rise building – its size is 12 by 18 meters. After it is removed from the building, volunteers will make many small flags out of it and deliver them to the front line.

In Dnipro at the observation deck in the park named after Taras Shevchenko, an open air “Dnipro inspires” event for the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine took place. 11 artists of fine arts participated.

Vinnytsia oblast

63 condominiums, community organizations and public organizations applied for the Shelter for Life project, which includes funds for the construction of shelters in Vinnytsia. 20 applications which scored the  highest number of points will receive funding for equipping protective rooms in high-rise buildings and “safety kits” with essential items.

 The city council reported that in Vinnytsia, cultural and artistic events for the Day of the State Flag and Independence Day of Ukraine will be held online. These are a concert program, virtual exhibitions, a master class on making flags and a quiz Flag as a state symbol.

In Vinnytsia, preferential cards with 60 free public transport trips per month are issued to pensioners, participants of the Anti-Terrorist Operation/Joint Forces Operation, residents from Chernobyl, persons with disabilities, and orphans. The director of Vinnytsia Card Service, Kateryna Babina said that discounted travel was also provided for pupils and students. In addition, 1,114 preferential cards have already been issued to IDPs.

Volunteer Maryna Stavniichuk donated two ambulances to the Pohrebyshche Hospital. The ambulances had to be sent to the front line first. But after negotiations with the administration of the hospital, they decided to hand them over to the hospital. The volunteers had already handed over an ultrasound device and surgical tables to this institution.

On the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine, a themed photo shoot for babies was traditionally held in the maternity ward of the Kalyniv Central District Hospital. Children were photographed wrapped in blue and yellow flags. Liudmila Yaremchuk, the deputy medical director for the quality of medical care of the Kalyniv Central District Hospital, told about this. By the way, on the night of August 22-23, four babies were born in the hospital. These are three girls and one boy.

Vinnytsia received a thousand doses of the Janssen vaccine against COVID-19. This was reported in the Department of Health Care and Rehabilitation of Vinnytsia Oblast. In total, the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF Ukraine delivered 100K doses of vector vaccine to Ukraine as part of the COVAX international initiative.

Kirovohrad oblast

The Kirovohrad RMA reports that Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Vira Rohova arrived in the region to check the preparation of educational institutions for a school year in wartime conditions.

Shelters were set up in all schools of the Bobrynets community in Kirovohrad oblast. Natalia Yavorska, deputy mayor of Bobrynetsurrently, says that a survey of parents is underway regarding the format of children’s training.

On the Heroes of Maidan Square, the cadets of the Donetsk University of Internal Affairs organized a patriotic event for the Day of the State Flag and the 31st anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. Accompanied by the university’s drum ensemble, they lined up in the shape of a trident and unfurled a 20-meter blue-yellow flag.

Explosive objects are destroyed near Kropyvnytskyi. Andrii Raykovich, Head of the military administration of the region, warned about the possible sounds of explosions during the day.

Poltava oblast

In Poltava Oblast, a cycling race was organized for the Day of the National Flag. Anatolii Kotliar, the organizer of the event, said that  6 Poltava residents covered 140 km with national flags on their bicycles.

In Poltava oblast, offline classes will be started in only 3 out of 43 art educational institutions. Classes will be held remotely in one institution without a shelter, and in the rest – in a mixed format. Lina Bogodysta, director of the regional methodical cabinet of educational institutions of art and culture, reported this.

According to Director of the utility company Special Complex of Funeral and Ritual Services, Dmytro Tretiakov, the Poltava community plans to announce a tender for a project for arranging a national military memorial cemetery at the cemetery in the village of Zaturyne. 4 million hryvnias from the community budget will be allocated for this. 

Cherkasy oblast

A town for evacuated animals is being built in the Cherkasy Zoo. Since the beginning of the russian aggression, the zoo has already taken in 70 animals and is preparing to take in more. Director of the zoo Yevhen Van says that lions, leopards and lynxes will be sheltered there.

Residents of Cherkasy joined the All-Ukrainian charity bike ride in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, initiated by rescuers. It was possible to become a participant by making a donation from UAH100  for registration. Ivanna Dubova, a volunteer of the Army Assistance Center reports that  the funds raised, which is UAH 21,000, will be used to purchase walkie-talkies for the Ukrainian military on the front lines.

25 computers were handed over to the Smila region by benefactors from Denmark. Both city and rural schools received them. Denys Balmasov from the NGO Sich.said that each institution received one computer.

Southern regions

Zaporizhzhia oblast

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the situation has not changed significantly.  The enemy concentrates its main efforts on holding the occupied positions.

The occupiers shelled civilian infrastructure in the areas of Huliaipole, Orikhiv, and Olhivske.

There were 28 reports of the destruction of civilian infrastructure as a result of shelling by russian occupation forces.

During the day, 1,947 people, including 534 children, were evacuated from the temporarily occupied territory.

The russian military shelled the area of the Zaporizhzhya TPP in the temporarily occupied Enerhodar. Two men were killed.

Enerhoatom reports that the russian occupiers are accumulating equipment on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Also, they have increased the number of soldiers at the station.

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossif announces that if the negotiation process is successful, representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency will visit the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

Two russian military servicemen and two collaborators were informed in absentia about the suspicion of theft of Ukrainian crops in the temporarily occupied territories. The suspects appropriated and took away about 138K tons of Ukrainian agricultural products.

Creative teams and students of Zaporizhzhia oblast held a cultural and artistic event on the occasion of the main public holidays. The guests of the event together with the actors of the Zaporizhia Regional Academic Theater of the Young Spectator performed the national anthem of Ukraine and famous Ukrainian songs.

On the occasion of the State Flag Day, a flash mob Raise our Flag was held in Zaporizhzhia. The blue-yellow flag was unfurled in every district hub for IDPs, namely: Vasylivka, Melitopol, Polohy, Berdiansk and Zaporizhzhia.

Embroidered patriotic Easter eggs were presented in Zaporizhzhia on the eve of Independence Day. Craftsmen created them to express gratitude to foreign leaders for their support of Ukraine.

Mykolaiv oblast

Ukrainian air defense forces shot down a Russian Kh-31 missile that was aimed at Mykolaiv oblast.

Residents of Mykolaiv oblast are advised to follow all safety rules and not to ignore alarm signals, especially on the National Flag Day and Independence Day. According to Head of the Mykolayiv RMA, there is a high threat of shelling.

Tonight, russian troops struck Bereznehuvate and the territory of the Shyroke community. This is reported by the Police of Mykolayiv oblast.

Mykolaiv, Bereznehuvate and the villages of Velyke Artakove and Murakhivka were under enemy fire yesterday. Multi-apartment and private residential buildings, administrative buildings, food facilities and vehicles were damaged.

Volunteers of the MriiDii platform handed over three SUVs to Mykolaiv defenders. The cars arrived from Bulgaria, France and Lithuania and have already passed a full technical inspection and are ready for operation.

Odesa oblast

Four missile carriers equipped with 28 Kalibr missiles are on combat duty in the Black Sea.

On August 23, the Ukrainian flag was raised on the square near the Odesa airport. The Vorontsov lighthouse was also decorated with the flag. The flag raised at the airport is the largest in Odesa oblast. Its dimensions are 6m by 8m, the height of the flagpole is 50m.

Kherson oblast

Ukrainian missile and artillery units destroyed an ammunition warehouse and a command post of the 247th Airborne Assault Regiment in Chornobaiivka, as well as a command post of the 331st Parachute Airborne Regiment in Novovoskresenske and another ammunition warehouse in Blahodatne.

Confirmed enemy losses are 23 servicemen, one T-72 tank and a light armored tractor.

Over the past day, the police opened 25 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes committed by the russian military and their accomplices in Kherson oblast.

Russian troops shelled 7 settlements in Kherson oblast. There are wounded. Private houses, garages and solar power plants were damaged. The occupiers used Grad missile multiple launchers, artillery and mortars against the civilian population.

As of August 22, the russians are holding captive 6 heads of Ukrainian communities of Kherson oblast. This was reported in the Association of Cities of Ukraine.

The Yellow Ribbon resistance movement has announced an action against russian propaganda, which the russian military is putting up in the temporarily occupied cities of the region. According to the terms of the campaign, you need to collect propaganda leaflets, posters and other propaganda materials of the occupiers, damage them and throw them in the trash, take a photo or shoot a video and send it to @yellowribbonUA_manager.

Western regions

Volyn

In belarus, near the border with the Rivne oblast and Volyn, columns of military equipment were noticed. This was reported by the monitoring group Belaruski Gaiun. According to their data, 7 armored personnel carriers, 6 Urals and KamAZ of the belarusian army were moving on the M10 highway (Luninets-Pinsk) from Biloozersk to Lake Bile. 

On the belarusian border in the Ratna community, ditches are being dug to stop enemy equipment. Currently, canals are being cleared of shrubs and trees. This is reported on the website of the Ratna community.

In Lutsk, a Soviet star was dismantled from a 40-meter obelisk on the memorial complex Eternal Glory. According to Head of the city department of housing and communal services Mykola Osiiuk, the star weighs 300 kilograms and is located at an altitude of 36 meters. At first, the masters tried to cut down the star completely, but later decided to dismantle it in parts. 

On August 23, a new high-speed train of Ukrzaliznytsia began to run, which connects Lutsk and Rivne with the capital of Ukraine. Repairs have been completed and a second two-storey Skoda train has been released on the route

Zakarpattia oblast

The Regional State Administration said that in Uzhhorod, on the occasion of the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine, the largest flag of Transcarpathia was raised on Bohdan Khmelnytsky Square. The flag measures 3.5m by 7m and flies on a 30-meter flagpole. Due to the threat of possible attacks from the air, this year the celebration program was reduced as much as possible.

In the Zakarpattia Regional Art Museum named after Joseph Bokshai, the exhibition Ukraine through the Eyes and Heart of Young Kharkiv Residents began. The exhibition takes place on the occasion of celebration of the Independence Day of Ukraine, the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine and the Day of the City of Kharkiv.  Most of the drawings of pupils of the South City Children’s Art School and young Zkarpattia artists were created in bomb shelters and basements.

Ivano-Frankivsk oblast

On the occasion of the Day of the National Flag and the Independence Day of Ukraine, awards were presented at the Headquarters of the Union of Volunteers of the Carpathian Region, which has been operating in the regional state administration since 2014. Ivano-Frankivsk volunteers were awarded with the medal “Valor of Prykarpattia”, as well as diplomas for active volunteer and charitable activities, courage and patriotism.

Another truck for our soldiers was sent to the front line. A special gift – patriotic gingerbread, prepared by pupils of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation will be sent to the military. The Ivano-Frankivsk RMA noted that our defenders should know that they are doing everything possible in the rear to help our soldiers repel the enemy.

Lviv oblast

During the raising of the flag at the Memorial to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred in Lviv, those who gave their lives for the freedom of Ukraine were honored. Near the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny, solemn events were held on the occasion of the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine.

The delegation from Luhansk oblast, headed by Head of the RMA Serhii Haidai, arrived in Lviv oblast on the occasion of the Day of the National Flag of Ukraine and the Independence Day. 

The Lviv RMA says that another 200 IDPs will have a roof over their heads and normal living conditions. They will live in a dormitory on Melnyk Street in 32 rooms. Today, the residents received keys to the rooms. The reconstruction of the dormitory, subordinated to the the Drohobych city council, was carried out in 52 days. 

Drone operators in the 103rd Brigade of the Troop Forces hoisted the flag of Ukraine to the UAV and launched it near the contact line. Thus, the flag was visible in the territories of Ukraine temporarily seized by Russia. The brigade’s Telegram channel reports that after the flight, the quadcopter with the flag has successfully returned and will continue to be used to detect and destroy the enemy.

In Lviv, on the occasion of the Day of the StateFlag of Ukraine, a master class on manufacturing patriotic brooches was held for children. It took place in the Lviv Regional Children’s Library. According to library employee Taras Fedorchak, since the beginning of the war, the number of patriotic events in the library has increased markedly.

Rivne oblast

In Rivne, on the occasion of the Flag Day, for the first time, people who the oblast is proud of were awarded with a new re ward – “Glory of the Rivne region”. This honorary award is an award of the highest level of the Rivne RMA. The first to receive this award were soldier Volodymyr Klymiv, chief physician of the Rivne Central City Hospital Yevhen Kucheruk and pastor of the Church of Christians of the Evangelical Faith and volunteer Volodymyr Brychka.

The team of Rivnegaz handed over a car to the military of Zahid Operational Command. This is the 15th vehicle that the power engineers have purchased for our defenders. In addition to the car, the military also received stoves for field conditions, tactical clothing and sapper shovels. Basketball club “Rivne” and Serhii Lishchuk also joined the action and purchased a modern quadcopter for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Ternopil oblast

On the occasion of the Day of the State Flag, solemn events were held in Ternopil. A nationwide moment of silence honored the fallen soldiers and the Ukrainian flag was solemnly raised in the Sopilche park. Also  flags of different eras, from the Rus time to the country’s Independence were shown. 

The Ternopil Military Administration says that in Ternopil oblast, 4 new oxygen stations out of 14 planned were installed. Special equipment is already in operation at the Husiatyn Municipal Hospital, Zalishchyky Central City Hospital, Ternopil City Communal Hospital No. 2, as well as at the Koziv Central District Hospital.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

A charity bike ride was held in Khmelnytskyi for the National Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine. The city council reported that the raised funds will be used for the purchase of a quadcopter for the AFU.

The city council reported that the NGO Youth for a Better Future together with the Khmelnytskyi Regional Universal Scientific Library, with the support of the European Endowment for Democracy, organized a historical excursion State-building processes of modern Ukraine for the residents of the city and IDPs. 

Chernivtsi oblast

A large-scale retrospective exhibition about the beauty of the Bukovyna Region and its people The Magical Region of Cheremosh and Prut opened in the Chernivtsi Regional Art Museum. The regional council reported that it is dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine. The exposition presents more than 70 works from the institution’s collection – paintings, graphics and sculptures.

Hundreds of inscriptions were written on a 10-meter blue-yellow flag by Bukovyna residents and the IDPs who took part in the Gardens of Unity campaign, which took place in ten communities of the region. The initiative was organized by the local association of the All-Ukrainian Society Prosvita named after Taras Shevchenko, deputies of the regional council and activists.

International support

The Netherlands will allocate an additional € 80 million aid package to Ukraine to support the economy and help in demining. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the country.

 The Government of Slovakia will transfer 30 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) to Ukraine. In return, they will receive 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Slovakia Yaroslav Nagy.

Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu says that Estonian citizens should think about how much they need to be in Russia.

The Baltics, Poland and Finland may impose a ban on the entry of russian tourists even if the EU fails to agree on a joint ban. According to Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielus Landsbergis, first of all, Vilnius relies on a pan-European solution.

At the second summit of the Crimea Platform, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced expansion of sanctions against Russia. They will concern 62 people and one defense sector enterprise. Canada has also allocated $ 450 million to Ukraine for the purchase of fuel for the winter.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany, together with Japan, would provide Ukraine with $ 60 million for the construction of granaries. 

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he was making efforts to expand military support for Ukraine.

Estonian President Alar Karis called for the trial of all those involved in crimes in russia’s war against Ukraine. He called for efforts to ensure that Russia’s aggressive actions cost it more.

In Europe, for the first time, they sold the confiscated yacht of the sanctioned russian oligarch. The five-deck 72-meter yacht Axioma belonged to billionaire Dmitry Pumpyansky. This is the first superyacht put up for public auction since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
