Here is operational information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 6pm:

The enemy continues to focus on establishing full control over the territory of Donetsk oblast, holding the seized areas of Kherson, parts of Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv oblasts, restoring the combat capability of its units, as well as preventing a possible counterattack of the Defense Forces.

Air and missile strikes on civilian targets on the territory of Ukraine are ongoing.

Towards Volyn and Polissia, the situation has not changed significantly. Units of the armed forces of the republic of belarus continue to carry out tasks to strengthen the belarusian-Ukrainian border in Brest and Gomel oblasts. The threat of the enemy launching missile and air strikes from the territory and airspace of the republic of belarus remains.

Towards Siversk, the enemy continues to hold separate units of the western military district in the border areas of Bryansk and Kursk oblasts demonstrate its presence in the area and constrain the actions of our units. There was shelling from barreled artillery in the areas of the settlements of Senkivka and Mykolaivka, Chernihiv oblast, and Katerynivka and Obody, Sumy oblast.

Towards Sloboda region, the enemy is fighting in order to gain a foothold, takes measures to complete and replenish the losses of personnel and military equipment.

Towards Kharkiv, the enemy conducted intensive reconnaissance with UAVs. Shelling of military and civilian infrastructure was carried out near  Bazaliivka, Duvanka, Husarivka, Lebiazhe, Mospanove, Peremoha, Ruski Tyshky,  Ruska Lozova, Slobozhanske, Velyki Prokhody, Udy. He launched air strikes near Husarivka, Mospanove, Staryi Saltiv, Shchednik,  and Verkhniy Saltiv.

Towards Sloviansk, near Bohorodychne, Chepil, Krasnopillia, Kurulka, Mazanivka, Nova Dmytrivka, the enemy carried out fire damage from tanks, barreled artillery and MLRSs. 

Towards Donetsk, the enemy continues to conduct offensive operations. The main efforts are focused on Avdiivka and Bakhmut directions

Towards Kramatorsk, shelling of Hryhorivka, Pereizne, Pryshyb, Siversk, Verkhniokamianske and Zakitne, was carried out. In the area of the settlement of Krasnopillya, the enemy fought an offensive battle.

Towards Bakhmut, near Bakhmut, Bilohorivka, Kostiantynivka, Pidhorodne, Vesela Dolyna and Yakovlivka the enemy shelled military and civilian infrastructure. There was an airstrike on the positions of the defense forces in the area of Soledar and missile strikes in the areas of the settlements of Kostiantynivka and Soledar. The invaders conducted assault operations near Kodema, Soledar  and Zaitseve, but failed.

Towards Avdiivka, the enemy fired tanks and artillery of various types at Avdiivka, Marinka, Oleksandropil, Pervomaiske and Pisky. Airstrikes were launched near Marinka, Krasnohorivka and Nevelskoye. There was an enemy offensive in the areas of the settlements of Krasnohorivka, Nevelske and Pervomaiske.

In the Novopavlivka, there was enemy fire near Novoukrainka, Novomykhailivka, Yelizavetivka. The invaders conducted offensive operations in the area of Novomykhailivka. They suffered losses and withdrew.

Towards Zaporizhzhia, the enemy carried out shelling from barreled and rocket artillery and tanks in the areas of  Charivne, Dorozhnianka, Huliaipole, Mala Tokmachka, Novosilka, Poltavka, Shevchenko,Vremivka, Vilne Pole. The invaders fought an offensive battle near Vremivka and Velyka Novosilka.

Towards the South Buh, the enemy focuses its main efforts on maintaining the positions occupied, preventing the advance of our troops and shelling our units. There are measures taken to replenish losses.

The enemy shelled civilian infrastructure of Andriivka, Bila Krynytsya, Kamiane, Liubomyrivka, Luch, Mykolaiv,  Novooleksandrivka, Novovorontsovka, Poliana, Partizanske, Posad-Pokrovske, Stepova Dolyna, Tavriiske, Tokareve, and Velyke Artakove, . There were airstrikes near Andriivka, Olhyne, Trudoliubivka and Potiomkino and missile strikes in Mykolaiv and Zatoka.

To conduct aerial reconnaissance, the invaders are actively using UAVs.


According to President’s Office Andrii Yermak, the first document with proposals for security guarantees for Ukraine will be presented on August 29-30who. He and former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen heads an international advisory group to develop a proposal for security guarantees for Ukraine.

Ukraine asks the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross to record the trial of the Azovstal defenders that the russians want to arrange in Mariupol. This was stated by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets. He also said that he had addressed his russian counterpart Tatyana Moskalkova, but had not received any response. 

Ukrainians abroad are urged to take to the streets of cities in other countries and support Ukraine on Independence Day during August 23-24. Partner organizations of the Ukrainian Witness invite activists to join the action #sparkofcourage and call on the world to remind the world of the enemy-occupied Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk regions and Crimea, as well as the defenders of Azovstal who are in captivity. This was announced by the founder of the project Vitalii Deineha.


Eastern regions

Kharkiv oblast

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the invaders shelled at least 11 settlements in Kharkiv oblast with tanks, barrel and rocket artillery. Russians tried to launch an offensive toward Brazhkivka-Nova Dmytrivka and Dovhenke-Dibrivne, but withdrew with losses under the fire of our defenders.

Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, informed that russian invaders shelled settlements in Bohodukhiv, Izium, Kharkiv and Lozova districts.

In the evening, Kyiv district was shelled with MRLs, damaging private houses. A man was injured. At night, the enemy launched two more rocket attacks from Belgorod on the Kyiv district. An infrastructure facility was damaged. A building was destroyed and a fire broke out as a result of the shelling. Preliminarily there were no casualties.

In Lozova district, grass and forest belts were on fire due to shelling. A woman was injured in Zolochiv village, Bohodukhiv district.

The search for people under the rubble of a dormitory in Saltivka after russian shelling on August 17 is over, 19 residents were killed.

Donetsk oblast

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the invaders continue to assault positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with no success. Russians tried to advance near Kodema, Krasnohorivka, Krasnopillia, Nevelske, Novomykhailivka, Pervomaiske, Soledar and Zaitseve settlements. They withdrew with losses.

In the morning russians destroyed another school in Donetsk oblast, Kostiantynivka School # 17. The building sustained serious damages, but no one was injured.

Overnight, Toretsk was attacked. There were no casualties, but houses were damaged.

Based on the information provided by Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, two civilians were killed as a result of shelling in Heorhiivka and Kostiantynivka.

Luhansk oblast

 Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Haidai, reported that all plans of russia’s military anger were successfully thwarted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He also noted that the majority of those killed in the invaders’ troops were residents of the temporarily occupied territories. The “Luhansk People’s Republic” continued forced mobilization and medical examinations were cancelled. The invaders’ “law enforcers” detain children and wait for their parents or relatives to show up to mobilize them.

Northern regions

Kyiv oblast

Representatives of the Dutch government – the Minister of Defense Kaisa Ollongren and Minister of Foreign Trade and Cooperation for Development Liesje Schreinemacher – arrived in Kyiv oblast. The delegation visited de-occupied towns and learned about battles and mine clearance in the region.

Community service workers found an ordnance in one of the sewer wells in Brovary. According to preliminary information it was a mortar shell. According to Mayor Ihor Sapozhko, the State Emergency Service and other services are now working to neutralize it.

The restoration continues in 68 apartment buildings in Irpin. Mostly they are repairing windows and doors damaged by blast waves and shelling.

The ‘Flags of Independence’ exhibition will take place in Kyiv displaying 17 unique flags. Visitors will be able to see the flag raised near the Kyiv city administration in 1990, the flag from Donetsk airport with signatures of Ukrainian defenders, the flag stationed in Low-Earth orbit, and others.

There are plans to erect a monument honoring the volunteers in Irpin. According to the Irpin town council, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, about 500 citizens in the town have risked their lives to evacuate people and animals, bring dinners to members of the territorial defense forces and community services, as well as transported the dead. Some of them lost their lives.

The “Each of Us is a Warrior” exhibition has opened at the Kontraktova Square in Kyiv. The project was created by representatives of the Territorial Defence, the Armed Forces and the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance. The goal of the exhibition is to highlight the role of the Territorial Defence Forces in the defence of Ukraine during the first months of the full-scale russian invasion, and to draw attention to the history of the Ukrainians’ battle for national identity.

Zhytomyr oblast

Zhytomyr volunteers have collected 20 tons of humanitarian aid for internally displaced people. Activists periodically receive lists of families who have lost their homes and send them the most needed items. There is no shortage of humanitarian aid since many people are eager to help.

A charity event for IDPs will be held in Zhytomyr on 27 August – a freemarket where they can get clothes, bed linen, toys and other items. With the help of sponsors from Estonia, it was possible to purchase hangers and racks for a quality display of the items. This event will be conducted only for internally displaced people, but in the future there are plans to hold freemarkets for other vulnerable populations.

Sumy oblast

The SBGS reported that the enemy inflicted fire damage from artillery, mortars, large-caliber small arms and UAVs. The communities of Velyka Pysarivka, Khotyn, and Bilopillia came under russian fire. An enemy drone dropped an explosive device on the territory of Velyka Pysarivka community.

The “Sumy” Operational Tactical Group reports that air defense shot down an enemy UAV over the Sumy district.

Defense engineering and technical facilities are being actively built in Sumy oblast. As reported by the State Border Service, the concept of arrangement is functional fortification facilities, built taking into account the new experience gained during the war with russia.

The SBGS reported that the border guards, together with the Defense Forces of Ukraine, practiced running-in exercises with armored vehicles for two days. The training was conducted with the aim of psychological training of servicemen and readiness to act in various types of combat, repulsing the enemy.

The Sumy RMA reported that the “Tactical Medicine for Ukrainians” course, launched in May, is expanding its geography. Graduates of Shostka and Sumy communities (83 people in total) successfully passed the exams and received the certificate. These are people who will be able to provide qualified and high-quality pre-medical care in a timely manner in combat conditions.

The reconstruction of the Velykyi Sambir dispensary is at the final stage. The medical facility was damaged by enemy shelling at the end of March. As reported in the regional military administration, damaged windows and doors have been replaced in the dispensary, and finishing work remains to be done. Almost 600 residents of Velykyi Sambir and neighboring villages use the services of this medical facility.

The administrative building of the Deptivka district, which also houses the paramedic-midwifery center, was renovated under the rapid recovery program. Sumy RMA notes that they plan to restore all damaged medical facilities in cooperation with local communities as soon as possible.

Chernihiv oblast

The enemy continues to shell the border communities of the oblast from the territory of russia. As reported in the SBGS, the enemy inflicted fire damage using barrel artillery, mortars, large-caliber small arms and UAVs. The territorial communities of Semenivka and Horodnyanka came under the fire of the russian army.

A decision was made to ban mass events throughout the region from August 23 to 25. This was reported in Chernihiv RMA. The time frame of the curfew will not change.

Demining of the territory of the oblast continues. According to the information of the State Emergency Service in the Chernihiv oblast, last week, pyrotechnic demining teams were involved in the disposal of explosive ordnance (EO) 98 times and removed 883 such items. A total of 40 456 EOs have been seized since the start of hostilities.

The Chernihiv RMA reports that repair work continues in hospitals, kindergartens and high-rise buildings in Chernihiv. Almost 136 million hryvnias have been allocated from the state budget for building materials for emergency repair works at facilities damaged due to the hostilities. Negotiations with international funds to attract other material and technical support are also underway.

Central regions

Dnipropetrovsk oblast 

The russian army once again struck three regions: Nikopol, Kryvyi Rih and Synelnykovo. 

Grad MRLs and barrel artillery were used three times. 42 russian missiles hit residential districts. 4 elderly civilians of Nikopol were wounded. Two of them hospitalized. 2 houses were destroyed, 50 damaged. The premises of a kindergarten, shops, pharmacy, court and bus stations were affected. Five fires broke out as a result of shelling. Power lines were also affected.

There were damages and casualties following shelling of the Zelenodolsk community. 

Valentyn Reznichenko, head of Dnipropetrovsk RMA, reported that missiles hit Synelnykovo. The facilities of agricultural enterprise, school and culture club were destroyed. The information about killed and injured is being clarified.

The athlete from Dnipro Yaroslava Mahichuk became the European champion in high jumping for the first time in Ukrainian history. The sportswoman achieved the result of 1.95 meters. She defeated the competitors from Montenegro and Serbia. 

Vinnytsia oblast 

The city council informed that Vinnytsia residents sent to the military Volkswagen T5 Transporter repaired and repainted by municipal guards. 

The activist Olesia Havko informed that UAH 60K were collected at the charity fair in Lypovets. These funds will be transferred to purchase the first aid kids for the Ukrainian defenders.  

Kirovohrad oblast 

Znamianka city terminated its sisterhood relations with the belarus city of Orsha and russian Mariinks, Bataisk and Bologoe. This decision was ratified at the city session. 

Poltava oblast 

Three SUVs were sent to the front to defenders from Poltava region. They have off-road capacity and were painted in camouflage colors. The defenders also received 10 Starlink systems. According to Dmytro Lunin, head of Poltava RMA, the Ministry of Digital Transformation also sent a couple of dozen of them to the region.

Cherkasy oblast

The experts of the Security Service of Ukraine detained two men sharing the location of personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces. When the counter sabotage “cleansing”  was made, the experts of the Security Service detained two enemy’s сollaborators adjusting the missile strikes on the region. 

Southern regions

Zaporizhzhia oblast

The situation in the Zaporizhzhia direction has not changed significantly. The enemy concentrates its main efforts on holding the occupied positions.

The occupiers shelled civilian infrastructure in the areas of Huliaipole, Orikhiv, and Tavriiske.

There were 12 reports on destruction of civilian infrastructure as a result of shelling by russian forces.

The occupiers destroyed the premises of the sports complex in the city of Huliaipole. The roof was damaged, windows and doors were knocked out by the blast wave and missile debris.

The aggressors targeted a communal facility in the village of Tavriiske, designed for  rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.

A food court was hit by rocket fire in Orikhiv. Ten kiosks and the territory of the shopping mall were damaged.

As a result of the shelling of the village of Preobrazhenka, two streets and six houses were damaged by rockets. Residents of Mala Tokmachka also reported destruction of their homes.

There were killed and wounded in the village of Omelnyk after the artillery shelling.

The leaders of the USA, Great Britain, France and Germany discussed the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. They emphasized military actions near the station are to be avoided as well as the importance of an IAEA visit as soon as possible to find out the state of security systems.

351 people, including 106 children, were evacuated from the temporarily occupied territory.

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed an agent group of the russian intelligence coordinating missile strikes on Zaporizhzhia. Its organizer is a resident of temporarily occupied Melitopol recruited by russian special services to carry out subversive activities.

A commandant’s office has been created in Zaporizhzhia oblast to regulate the exit to the temporarily occupied territory.

Peaceful gatherings, rallies, marches and demonstrations, and other mass events are prohibited in Zaporizhzhia oblast during celebration of the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine and the Independence Day of Ukraine on August 23-25.

Mykolaiv oblast

At night, the occupying forces shelled Mykolayiv with four S-300 anti-aircraft missiles. Service enterprises were destroyed, administrative buildings of several organizations and businesses, and several residential buildings were damaged. There were no human losses.

Private houses are damaged in Shyroke as a result of strikes. 

The enemy fired a rocket from the Smerch multiple rocket launcher at Bashtanka. A private house was destroyed, a one-year-old child was injured.

Bereznehuvate community continues to be under fire. Information on victims and damage is being clarified.

65 children were injured in Mykolaiv oblast. One-and-a-half-year-old child was injured as a result of shelling by russian troops in Bashtanka.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the “National Legend of Ukraine” award to the rescuer of the Mykolaiv State Emergency Service Ihor Ivasykov. He was repeatedly involved in liquidation of the consequences caused by russian shelling. He participated in the liquidation of the oil tank fire and worked on demolition of the Mykolaiv Regional Council building hit by a russian missile on March 29, 2022. Thanks to his actions, 17 people were rescued from the rubble of the building.

Odesa oblast

In the morning, the enemy launched missile strikes on infrastructure facilities in Odesa oblast. The Kh-59 air-launched missile was launched from the Su-35 aircraft from the Black Sea. There are no casualties.

There are 5 missile carriers equipped with more than 30 Calibers and a large amphibious assault ship on combat duty in the Black Sea.

Another channel of illegal border crossing was exposed in Odesa oblast. It was organized by one of the border guards, who demanded 2.5K dollars from each person willing to leave the country.

Kherson oblast

The enemy continues to conduct hostilities along the occupied defense line, and tries to carry out aerial reconnaissance with unmanned aerial vehicles. Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile units destroyed an Orlan-10 drone while performing a mission in the Visokopillia area.

Ukrainian aviation launched 2 airstrikes on a stronghold, a buildup of manpower, weapons and equipment in the areas of Oleksandrivka and Burhanivka.

On August 21 and 22, the Armed Forces of Ukraine again struck the Antonivsky and Kakhovka bridges. The russian army is trying to replenish equipment and ammunition losses via these bridges.

As a result of the attack on the Kakhovka bridge, the occupying forces suffered losses in the amount of 20 occupiers, a self-propelled gun of the type “Hyacinth-S”, a self-propelled howitzer “Msta-S”, 2 S-300 launchers, a radar illumination and guidance station, 3 units of armored vehicles, as well as the Nebo-M mobile radar complex for detecting aerodynamic and ballistic objects. The final losses of the enemy are being clarified.

The police opened 5 criminal proceedings regarding war crimes committed by the russian army in Kherson oblast.

Russian troops have carried out massive shelling of villages in the Beryslav district. Residential and commercial buildings were hit. There were wounded civilians. Some settlements remain without water and electricity.

Russian troops use barges to transport unknown materials across the Dnipro near Kherson. This was reported by the American Institute for the Study of War.

Western regions

Volyn

Head of the Volyn Police, Yuriy Kroshko, urges not to disregard the “rules of war” on the eve of the National Flag Day and Independence Day of Ukraine. After hearing the air alarm signal, it is necessary to go to the shelter.

The Lutsk special communal transport enterprise “Lutskspecskomuntrans” has bought a garbage truck. A modern IVECO car is designed for removal of all types of household waste. The car worth almost UAH 2 million was purchased in the Netherlands. The maneuvering truck can work in the hard-to-reach places of the city, the city council reports.

On August 23, the art ethnic project “Canvas Eternity” will open in Lutsk. At the exhibition you will be able to see old embroidered clothes and household items from private collections. The exhibition will last until the 5th of September.

Maya Moskovych from Volhynia won a gold medal at the international military competition Warrior Games in the US. The military went to training straight from the front line. On the first day of the competition, Maya won first place in shot put. Moskovich notes that her victory is also the opportunity to talk about the war in Ukraine at the international level.

Zakarpattia oblast

According Zakarpattia Regional Military Administrationhas, the next group of 128 children was sent on vacation to Austria as part of the implementation of joint projects with Land Burgenland, Zakarpattia children, as well as those who were forced to leave their homes because of the war and children of soldiers who defend the country. During 5 days, they will be able to learn history and culture of Lockenhaus in the federal state of Burgenland and see interesting places.

Everyone can visit the exhibition “The versatility of István Loudon’s life”, opened in the Zakarpattia regional museum named after T. Legotsky in honor of the 160th anniversary of the famous Ukrainian naturalist and teacher of the Uzhhorod Gymnasium. Among the special artifacts of the exhibition is the hand of an Egyptian mummy, which the scientist brought from a trip to Egypt in 1896.

Іvano-Frankivsk oblast 

 Svitlana Onyshchuk, the head of the Regional Military Administration, has reported that specialists of the regional special commission continue to check readiness of the educational institutions of the Ivano-Frankivsk region to the new school year. The shelter in the central building of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University has already been inspected, as well as educational institutions in Halytskyi and Rohatynskyi districts.

Thanks to cooperation of the regional military administration with the International Charitable Foundation “Parimatch Foundation”, 33 educational institutions of the Zabolotiv region received sports equipment – sets for football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, chess, checkers and darts.

Lviv oblast

Five renovated wards were opened in one of the medical institutions of the Lviv region. The renovation was carried out within the framework of the project “Restoration of the rehabilitation department for defenders of Ukraine”, initiated by the Lviv Regional Military Administrationand the International Headquarters for Aid to Ukrainians. After the opening of the updated departments, the Alley of Lindens was planted near the hospital in honor of the defenders of Ukraine. The project was implemented using the funds of volunteers.

 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Maria Prymachenko with the award “National Legend of Ukraine” posthumously. Maria Prymachenko was a Ukrainian folk artist in the genre of folk art, the author of more than 800 paintings. About a hundred of which are currently on display at the Andrei Sheptytskyi National Museum in Lviv.

Rivne oblast

City markets will not function in Rivne on Independence Day, Mayor Oleksandr Tretyak said. He reminded that during the period of martial law, public holidays, August 24, are working days. The city does not plan large-scale mass events on this day.

194 schools of the Rivne region submitted applications to provide shelters of educational institutions with Wi-Fi coverage as part of a joint project of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Digital. This was reported in the Rivne Regional State Administration.

The Republican Center for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of the Effects of Neurotrauma, located in the Rivne region, which provides medical, physical, and psychological rehabilitation to combatants, will receive an additional 28.2 million UAH from the state budget. The funds will be used to increase the bed fund, purchase the Robogait system, a robotic device for walking therapy and 26 pieces of medical equipment. This was reported in the Rivne Regional State Administration.

Hospitals of the Rivne region will receive powerful generators  purchased using funds from the regional budget as it is crucial to protect critical infrastructure facilities  from possible power outages. This was reported in the Rivne Regional State Administration. So far, a generator for the Rivne Regional Clinical Hospital has already been purchased and installed for UAH 572 000. 

Rivne region has become a refuge for many athletes with disabilities, who are currently preparing for competitions on the basis of the local “Invasport”. Among them are 5 representatives of the national powerlifting team of Ukraine among visually impaired athletes from Sloviansk, who are currently preparing for the World Championships, as well as Ukrainian record holder Nataliya Oliynyk from Popasna, who will represent Ukraine at the European Powerlifting Championship.

 Ternopil oblast 

“Alarm buttons” are installed in schools of the Ternopil oblast. This was announced by the head of the National Police of the region Oleksandr Bohomol. According to him, police officers and employees of the State Emergency Service will be assigned to each educational institution to provide advisory and explanatory work for teachers and children. According to the head of the Ternopil military administration, Volodymyr Trush, the alarm buttons have already been installed in 150 schools in the region.

An exhibition of russian equipment destroyed by the Armed Forces was brought to Ternopil for the first time. Burnt tanks, armored vehicles and rocket launchers were placed near the Old Park. The exhibition was organized for the National Flag Day and the Independence Day of Ukraine. It will be possible to observe the burned equipment until the end of the month.

Ternopil residents organized a charity concert in one of the city’s shopping centers. The invited artists performed Ukrainian songs, and the audience collected almost 10 000 UAH for the Armed Forces during the concert. Pavlo Boyko, administrator of the charitable International Foundation of Good People, told about it. They plan to hold such concerts in the future.

In the Koziv community of Ternopil oblast, the youth community of the parish of St. Basil the Great are raising funds for the Ukrainian army. They have already woven about 500 patriotic bracelets and keyrings. Some decorations were transferred to different directions of the front, and the rest were sold at a charity fair on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. All money was transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces.

Khmelnytskyi oblast

Free classes will be held in Khmelnytskyi for children aged 5-12 to ensure quality leisure time, comprehensive development and psycho-emotional support during the war. This was reported in the city council. The program of non-formal education provides creative activities, mobile and cognitive activities, interaction with other children and adults. The project is implemented by the team of the “SpivDiia” charitable foundation with the support of UNICEF and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. 

ATOM RACE NETISHYN 2022 was announced in Khmelnytskyi oblast. The purpose of the charity obstacle race, which will take place on August 27, is to raise funds for the needs of the Armed Forces. Charitable contribution is UAH 1 000  per team.

Chernivtsi oblast

In Chernivtsi, students will study remotely in four schools, while another seven provide offline education. In other schools, lessons will be conducted in a mixed format. This was announced by the deputy mayor Yurii Lesiuk.

Chernivtsi will not hold the “Participation Budget” competition this year. Acceptance of proposals was not announced due to martial law, as capital expenditures were frozen. However, there is an opportunity to work on improvement projects, specifically on arranging parks and squares. This was reported by the city council.

International support

Ukraine and 7 countries of Central and Eastern Europe – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary – launched a new format of cooperation called the Kyiv Initiative. It was presented at the briefing by the head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak and advisers to the heads of state and government of the participating countries. The unification format is considered as a platform for discussing common security challenges for the region of Central and Eastern Europe in the face of russian aggression.

The EU may launch a major training operation for Ukrainian forces in neighboring countries. This was announced by the head of the foreign policy department, Josep Borrell. According to him, this proposal will be discussed at a meeting of EU defense ministers next week.

The US Department of Defense announced that it is preparing to conclude a contract for the transfer of Switchblade 600 long-range kamikaze drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There are about 10 drones. Pentagon press secretary Jessica Maxwell, in response to an inquiry by Defense News, said that the contract for development and assembly of the equipment by AeroVironment is expected within the next 30 days.

20 high-ranking American military and diplomats wrote an open letter to US President Joe Biden, in which they demand to provide Ukraine with all weapons required to defeat russia. They emphasized the need to send HIMARS missile complexes with a range of 300 km and effective means of anti-air and anti-missile defense to Ukraine.

The State Department representative said that the United States has warned russia’s ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, against escalating the war in Ukraine and called on moscow to stop hostilities at or near Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.

The head of the prime minister’s office, Michal Dvorchyk, said that Poland handed Ukraine weapons worth almost €1.5 billion. He emphasized that aid to Ukraine is “not only an action of solidarity with our eastern neighbor, but also a strategic action that will contribute to the security of Poland.”

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Estonia discussed the ban on the entry of russian tourists to the EU, the prosecution of the russian leadership, as well as the next package of European Union sanctions against the russian federation.

Estonia will push the idea of a full energy embargo against russia in the EU’s eighth package of aggressive war sanctions. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Urmas Reinsalu. According to him, Estonia will propose to include in the package a full energy embargo, new groups of goods and the final disconnection of russian banks from SWIFT.

On August 20, 90 Dutch servicemen went to Great Britain, where they will participate in the training of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine together with their British colleagues. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Kaisa Ollongren.
